Selena Barone moves out of her parents place and into the apartment above the restaurant she manages. Her parents are not happy about it. Always the wild child Salena now needs her own space but living above the D’Angelos’ restaurant comes with its own Italian family restrictions.
Ryan Routledge is the black sheep of a wealthy family, refusing a place in the family wine business he too prefers to go it alone.
When Selena and Ryan meet sparks fly and soon their friends with benefits pact starts to change into a relationship. But Selena is keeping a secret from everybody and it could bring everything tumbling down.
Catherine Bybee has the knack of writing good likeable characters. She can easily portray the difference between good people, the wild but good and the total bitches. I was so invested in the story I felt myself getting anxious about the reveal of the secret and couldn’t see a good outcome.
This book has a modern theme and is non judgemental in lifestyle and the choices people make. (It does have a HEA).
This is book 4 in the D’Angelos’ series but can be read as a standalone novel.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Salena is excited to be moving into her own place. After awhile she realizes its not all fun and games. She meets Ryan who she likes. I enjoyed the different characters in this book.
I have had the privilege of reading all of the books in this series and the D’Angelos are the type of family you just can’t get enough of. While all of the books have been awesome, I couldn’t put this one down.
Selena isn’t a D’Angelo by blood, but she is the manager of their restaurant and moves into the family apartment upstairs. Selena is strong willed, sexy, and single. Somewhere along the way she let herself believe that she wasn’t worthy of true love. That all changes when she meets Ryan (Emma’s brother) at Emma and Gio’s wedding.
Wildly entertaining. This is Salenas story of falling for Ryan, Emma's brother. They meet at Emma's wedding. It's sweetly romantic and funny. The big Italian family surrounding her (and now them)
are both quirky and loving. They are a big part of the story.
I loved it all.
I love books like this. They are just like meeting up with old fiends. The character development is so great, you feel like you instantly know them.
Salena's story finally!!!! I have enjoyed these characters so much and it's finally Salena's chance to find love. Ryan and Salena are perfect for eachother, both the rebels of their family and never having a serious relationship. The moment Ryan met Salena he was fully into her, but she was ready for a friends with benefits deal. She is determined to make it on her own and while he is wealthy she will not accept his help. She finds a lucrative business adventure that she chooses to not share about. While I enjoyed the series, the one was not my favorite. My only complaint is the big secrets they kept from one another. I'm sad to see the end to the series, but looking forward to more by Catherine Bybee.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC.
I really enjoy this series and give this book a 3.5 - rounded up to a 4 as the others in this series were better in my opinion. I found it difficult to stay engaged with the main character as she was rather all over the place. I love that other characters from the first books are a part of this book - it is like going home to hear how everyone is doing. I felt the ending of this book, while happy, left a bit to be discovered - maybe in the next book - which I very much look forward to! I received an ARC for my unbiased opinions. My thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley.
The 4th book in the D’Angelo’s world is quite possibly my favorite of the series.
From the moment Salena and Ryan meet until the moment they figure everything out, Bybee once again delivers without making any obvious or predictable choices. The payoff is worth it, as we watch Salena own her strength and independence and Ryan learn how to be the partner that his parents never modeled. Add in many family dinners with the D’Angelos and you have the recipe for an incredibly satisfying read.
I received this book from NetGalley.
Salena keeps going on about how she has no money but then she takes Ubers. It is mentioned that her city has buses, she just doesn't take them. That seems like a silly decision considering her finances.
The fact that Salena hasn't told Ryan, her boyfriend, about her secret second job is a bit concerning. Especially since they're talking about moving in together. That's definitely something that should have been discussed. And then she's happy that Ryan didn't tell her about Helen because it means they've both kept secrets. On what planet is this the same thing?!
Overall, not a book I'd be likely to read again.
This book was fantastic! So glad Catherin Bybee wrote a book for Selena. I loved the character Ryan and how he stuck and showed Selena that he wanted to be with her.
While this book can be a stand-alone book, it’s much better when you read the entire series of the D’Angelo family and their friends.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy for my honest review.
This was an easy enjoyable read. I had read the first book in the series and did enjoy that one a lot more. This one was good but didn’t leave me eager for the next one. I’d recommend it to read after you’ve read something heavy and need a light escape.
I love all of Catherine Bybees books! This was not my fave one but I love the D’Angelo family. It was great to read another book about them.
I feel like this series just gets better and better. To be honest, at first I couldn't relate to the heroine, Selena. But what turned this book into one of my favorites of the series, is the author showed us more to Selena than what she allowed the world to see. When you get to see deep down into a character like that, you always find a common thread and you can relate. I rooted for her. I wanted her to shine. It makes that HEA ending mean so much more. On top of what a great character Selena was, I also really enjoyed the hero, Ryan. I loved him for her. I loved how he pursued her. I loved how good he was to her and how he breached those walls other men never bothered to try to get past. They were a fantastic couple to read about and I really enjoyed their story.
After reading the three books in The D'Angelo family series, I was thrilled when I heard that Catherine Bybee was writing another book for the series, centering on Salena Barrone, family friend to the D'Angelos. Selena is strong-minded and independent and meets and falls for Ryan Rutledge, the brother-in-law of Gio D'Angelo. Although the two have different backgrounds, they both clash with their parents. I love that Ms. Bybee included the entire D'Angelo family in the story. Reading this novel is like revisiting old friends and making some new ones. I truly hope there will be more books in this series! Thanks to NetGalley, Catherine Bybee and Montlake Publishing for the ARC!
This book was sooo good! I’ve been waiting to hear Sarina’s story as she had had appearances in other books by Catherine Bybee. She has always signed carefree, independent and happily single. So you knew it was going to take someone special to turn her head & keep it turned! I love reading about this family and have enjoyed how there have been subsequent books that tell the story of different members of the family. And I think maybe I saw some hints in this book that Mari might be the next character we get to lean more about in an upcoming Bybee book??! I hope so! I highly recommend this book!!
Catherine Bybee adds another fantastic installment to this must read series! The Whole Time is the 4th installment in the D’Angelos series and centers around Salena Barone & Ryan Rutledge. From the very first page, I loved what Catherine Bybee had in mind for these two! Salena and Ryan had immediate chemistry and agreed that a friends-with-benefits plan worked perfectly…until it didn’t! I couldn’t wait to see how this turned out for them, and was really hoping they could manage to stay out of their own way lol! If you haven’t read this series yet, you need to put them on the top of your TBR list! The Whole Time is a 5 star heartwarming must read! I am keeping my fingers crossed that there will be more installments in this series!
Salena has lived her life smothered by her attached and overprotective Italian parents. She’s determined to prove that she is an adult capable of thriving on her own. She doesn’t need to rely on anyone, especially a man. That is, until she meets Ryan. Tattoos and rides a motorcycle - just the kind of man her parents would never approve of.
What started out as Salena just looking to have a good time quickly turns into more as their connection becomes obvious. But Salena has a big secret, one that threatens to ruin her relationships with those she loves - including Ryan.
It took me a little while to get into this book. I also had a bit of trouble keeping up with how everyone knew each other in the beginning. However, once I got past the first few chapters I was hooked. Admittedly, Ryan is what drew me in. He might appear to be a “bad boy” at first glance, but once Salena gets to know him it’s obvious that he’s more than just his looks. He had this ability to push Salena just enough, while also remaining respectful and patient of her wishes.
I also appreciated Salena’s strong will and determination to be independent. But I have to admit I wasn’t crazy about her side hustle. It wasn’t so much the act, but the reactions of her family, friends, and Ryan once they found out. They just seemed a bit too unrealistic, especially given how overprotective her family is of her.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. Coming from an Italian family myself, I loved the close-knit relationships everyone shared with each other. I haven’t read the other books in the series, but I will definitely be going back to read them to catch up on everyone else!
Thank you to Catherine and NetGalley for this ARC, and the chance to review this book.
I love this family. The 4th installment of the D'Angelo family can be read as a stand alone, but it really helps to know the backstory to the family to fully appreciate the storyline. This one was a little steamier than the others, and I wasn't a fan of the stripper pole part of the story. But all in all, this was a great, quick read that was a nice conclusion to the series. Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for the ARC.
Wow this book is amazing.
I'm so glad salena got her prince and he stayed.
I don't want to give spoilers.
But I'm happy at the ending and that Ryan and salena will be together forever.
I can't wait to buy it then re read it loads of times.
I hope salena gets to have her own "gym"
Another great, compelling, romantic and funny book from D'Angelos Family Series. Thanks to Netgalley, I could check it out one more narrative about this italian family that Catherine has created. That kind of romance story plot that strangers to lovers pretty good to spend some time.
