Book eighteen in the Josie Quinn series and it's a great one. Lots of action, heartbreak and twists. A great read.
This is an amazing read, the stripy had me gripped from the start and I was shocked at the ending.
I look forward to reading more in this series
Detective Josie Quinn is back, and she’s got a gripping new case to solve. Right from the beginning, Josie is tasked with finding a missing child who disappeared in the woods with her younger sister. The older sister wanted to prove that the spooky story about The Woodsman was just a myth. According to the tale, if two children enter the woods, only one will come out alive. Parents dismissed the story as nonsense, but kids were terrified.
Things take a dark turn when the younger sister is found, claiming The Woodsman took her sibling. Suddenly, what seemed like just a scary story becomes a real and present danger. As Josie and her team race against time to track down every lead, another child goes missing. Josie discovers similar cases in neighboring counties and realizes they’re dealing with a serial killer.
Lisa Regan delivers yet another nail-biter! This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, racing to the very end with a twist you won’t see coming. It’s packed with emotional moments and action. Definitely a 5-star read! If you’re a fan of Detective Josie Quinn or just love a good thriller, this one’s a must-read
This is the eighteenth book in the series featuring Detective Josie Quinn and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Even though it is part of a series the book reads well as a stand-alone. Josie and her team are still reeling from the tragic events of their last case when they receive the news that two sisters are missing. There have been rumours flying around Denton that there is a mysterious person known as a The Woodsman lurking in the woods and grabbing children. The two had ventured into the woods where they had disappeared. When they searched the woods Josie and her team found the younger sister Savannah, eight years of age, hiding and terrified and she informs them that The Woodsman took her older sister Kayleigh. Josie knows that The Woodsman is a myth but who is responsible for portraying him? On investigation they realise that this is not the first case of this kind where two girls have disappeared and only one is found. The body of a young girl is found murdered in the same place as where Kayleigh disappeared but they are baffled as to what has happened to Kayleigh. There main suspect has an alibi so will they manage to find the killer and Kayleigh before it is too late? This book was a brilliant addition to the series, full of drama and suspense with plenty of twists and turns. I eagerly await book number nineteen.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book..
This series is one of my favorites and every book seems to get better then the last. I love all the characters and how they interact with each other. I know it's sad when characters die, but I'm actually glad that storyline happened as it makes it seem more real and allows for a large range of emotions and actions that maybe wouldn't be used in a fictional story. Plus, it gives the readers a chance to experience multiple emotions as well. This story also had the typical twists and turns and kept me on the edge of my seat as well with the missing girls vanishing into the forest.
Another interesting and well written story.
I enjoyed this one. The team is coping with the loss of Mettner. But a girl is missing. Then it perhaps it is a man who lives in the woods. Page turner. Josie keeps dealing with her trauma as she and Noah consider starting a family. I give Regan credit for 18 books in she keeps her characters moving and growing.
I was given a copy by NetGalley. Opinions are my own.
Great read
Eighteenth in the Detective Josie Quinn series
Another great one by this author
This one is just as good as her first in this series
Thanks NetGalley
Lisa Regan is a new author to me - and My Child is Missing is the first book that I have read by this author. After reading this book, I went back and ordered the first 5 in the series. Josie Quinn is such a well written, amazing character. This book has two missing sisters, Kayleigh and Savannah. Josie, Noah and their team are brought in to try and find them. Savannah is found - and tells everyone that the Woodsman got Kayleigh. Josie believes that is just an urban tale who does not exist.
The author brilliantly has written a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This book moves at a fast paced, and you will keep turning pages to see what happens next. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.
Number 18 in the series. Lisa hits it out of the ball park with every book she writes. I love a missing person trope so I couldnt get enough of it. Never read one I havent liked.
My Child is Missing is the latest in the Josie Quinn series. It begins with two missing sisters, Kayleigh and Savannah. They went for a walk in the local woods and haven't returned home. While one is found relatively quickly the other has been snatched. The rumoured "Woodsman" is quickly blamed by the locals. However, Josie Quinn doesn't believe in urban myths and fears an all too real perpetrator is at large. This book whipped along nicely and I read it over two days. Thank you NetGalley for my advance copy.
If two children go down to the woods today
If they're lucky, they may get away.
But otherwise "the Woodsman" may take one
And let the other escape and be gone.
A rumour round the counties is spread
And young people go missing, turning up dead.
What seemed like just a silly childhood rhyme
Actually portends a killer's crimes.
When two children disappear into the wood
Frantic parents searching does no good.
Josie and the team are brought in on the case
One is found but the other gone without a trace.
A story so full of twists, revelations and surprises
With danger from someone no one realises.
A dark tale of a killer who hides in plain sight
Before disappearing off into the night.
Another disturbing case for Josie and her team,
Where clues are there but not as they seem.
A fascinating story, great addition to the series, too,
The whole of which I highly recommend to you!
For my complementary copy of this book, I say thank you,
Such an enthralling read and this is my honest review.
FABULOUS addition to this authors' terrific series. RECOMMEND all of the Josie Quinn novels as they are all a great reading experience. Thanks #NetGalley#Bookouture for #my child is missing in return for my honest review.
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced Arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Lisa Regan's books are always page turners. This book was no exception. Looking forward to the next one in the series.
Lisa Regan strikes gold again. Her ability to continue to keep her readers engaged with Josie’s story is just incredible.
This one really got to me - the Woodsman rumor was freaky and the twist was shocking! If this is your first Lisa Regan novel - please go back and start at book one and read the series in order - you won’t regret it.
The phone call to the Denton Police Department sent chills down Detective Josie Quinn's spine. The Patchett parents were distraught - their two daughters were missing after they had gone for a walk in the woods behind their house, and they hadn't returned. Kayleigh was sixteen while her little sister, Savannah, was eight. The Denton PD was immediately on the scene, throwing everything they could at the search, including Luke and his search dog Blue. The stories that had been circulating of The Woodsman were enough to terrify the people of Denton and surrounds, but adults knew it was only a kid's monster story. But when little Savannah was finally located, wide eyed and terrified, all she could say was "he took her, he took her"...
As Josie and her team continued their search for Kayleigh, secrets were coming to the surface. Two girls had been murdered not far from Denton, with The Woodsman being blamed. Exhaustion was dogging the team; sleeping in shifts to keep the case active twenty-four-seven was all they could do. And then another teenage girl was discovered dead in the woods - the race was on. Could they discover who the killer was before someone else died?
My Child is Missing is #18 is this fast paced and highly addictive series. Author Lisa Regan still manages to come up with fresh, new ideas for her Detective Josie Quinn series, and I'm loving it. Filled with excellent characters, tension filled pages, and electric twists and turns, I can't recommend this one (and the series) highly enough! Although I partially worked something out early in the piece, I was still wrong!
What a wonderful next installment for the Josie Quinn series! I enjoyed reading along the latest mystery and had a hard time putting it down! Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC!
Love this series, loved this installment! Every time I get my hands on a new book in this series, I immediately dive in. It’s nice to reunite with the characters I’ve grown invested in. After the last book in the series, I was particularly excited to check on my favorite characters. This was well done and I appreciated the authors mentions of the events from the last book in the series. As always, I flew through the book and it ended much too soon. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
The series is getting even more exciting. This book is definitely a real page-turner. I found it difficult to stop reading. The plot twist in the story is truly astonishing. This book had me wondering all along about who the killer might be. I was totally surprised by the real identity of the killer.
My Child Is Missing is the eighteenth book in the Detective Josie Quinn series by best-selling American author, Lisa Regan. When sisters Kayleigh and Savannah Patchett fail to return from a walk in the woods on a Saturday, Detective Josie Quinn and her team get former State Trooper Luke Creighton and his bloodhound Blue in to track them down. Eight-year-old Savannah is quickly located, hiding in a tree, but her sixteen-year-old sister, Savannah says, was taken by a man clad in yellow.
Kayleigh’s scent is tracked to a cabin in the woods, but there’s not a trace of the teen inside Henry Thomas’s home or vehicles. Soon enough there is mention of similar cases in adjoining counties, although they differ in that a body was recovered. Police and State Troopers are already aware of the legend of The Woodsman, and wish they could dismiss it as a scary story told by kids and shared by teens on social media. Worryingly, “These kids doing this stupid Woodsman challenge. Two go in and only one comes out.” But someone is killing teens in these counties.
While they are determined to find the missing girl, the team are also dealing with grief over the loss of one of their own, and Josie, in particular, is affected by PTSD-induced insomnia.
It's quickly apparent that Dave and Shelly Patchett are controlling parents who impose restrictions on their rebellious daughter, and that the unhappy teen might have a secret older boyfriend. Given his prison record, Josie is unconvinced that Henry Thomas is innocent of all wrongdoing, but the team are frustrated by delays in DNA processing.
And then a girl in Kayleigh’s class, a rival for a short story prize, is murdered in the woods doing a Woodsman Challenge, with all the hallmarks of earlier killings.
There are plenty of red herrings and misdirections that will keep even the most astute reader guessing up to the final, twisty, reveal. Addictive crime fiction.

My Child is Missing by Lisa Regan
Detective Josie Quinn #18
Dark, gritty, grim,
What I liked:
* Josie: homicide detective, married, had a difficult childhood discussed in previous books, happily married to Noah, competent, professional, good at her job, someone I would like to call friend
* Noah: police lieutenant working with Josie and also her husband, loving, kind, supportive, bright, protective, patient, perfect for Josie
* The plot, pacing, setting, police procedural aspects of the story, and writing
* Wondering if Josie and Noah will start a family in the next book and if Josie goes on the retreat mentioned in this story she will find a way to lay some of her demons to rest
* The red herrings, twists and turns the way Josie and her team finally found out where the Woodsman originated and who it was
* The psychological elements from the death of friends and loved ones, dysfunctional families, and the Woodsman story on the community
* Wondering if some of the characters like Gretchen, Amber, and Luke will find partners in future books
* Knowing that there will be another book in the series
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about nature vs nurture and how it impacts the creation of good/evil people
* Knowing that the evil in this story is no doubt all too possible in real life
Did I Like this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Yes
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC – This is my honest review.
