I have read all books in this series and as usual Lisa Regan has outdone herself. Each gets better than the one before and leaves you wanting the next
A great series to follow
This is a mind bender. Lots of twists and turns and an ending you never see coming. Phenomenal writing. It’s emotional and just a really great book! I read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
WOW! Lisa Regan has done it again this is book 18 in the series and it honestly gets better with each book. At the end of book 17 I was gutted but they managed to handle it so well in this one as everyone tries to find a new normal and adjust.
All the children are talking about how scared they are of the woods because if you go in there the Woodsman will capture you and take you away. The teenagers take it a step further by challenging each other to spend the night in the woods.
Girls are showing up dead in the woods but Kayleigh wants to show her sister that it isn't real. Savannah and Kayleigh go into the woods but Savannah comes out and Kayleigh is now missing. After all if two go into the woods only one can come out or so goes the legend.
An ending that left me shocked! I just love this authors writing style and how engaging all her books are. I can't wait for next in the series to come out.
Written by a talented author (and one of my favorites), this book held my attention page by page. A real page turner in fact. Mystery and intrigue. Realistic characters. A quick read. Do not try to discern the ending. Too many red herrings. I look forward to more books with Josie Quinn. She is a favorite of mine also. This book was sent to me by Netgalley.
You know a series is good and the author is a great writer when book #18 is as good as book #1! Kayleigh and Savannah go into the woods and only one sister come out. Is this a serial killer or a mythical creature called the Woodsman or both?? Josie , Gretchen and Noah are back and on the search to find the missing sister before it's to late. There is no series like this where no matter how many books you read in the series you look forward to the next! This book kept me so captivated that I read in a weekend! So much suspense ! Read this series!! I would 100% recommend!
There is a shadow over the forest around Denton, one which kids from elementary through to high school are talking about. Known as the Woodsman it's either terrifying or the latest challenge depending on your age and no matter how often parents say it's not real they know they haven't persuaded anyone.
Detective Josie Quinn has seen far too many real life horrors to be bothered by a story especially as she and her team try to come to terms with their previous investigation which shattered them all. Then two sisters disappear and it seems as if they might all have to listen a little closer to the rumours that say the Woodsman was just waiting for it's next victim to come along.
Book eighteen in Lisa Regan's excellent series is full to the brim with the overlapping storylines and believable characters she writes so well. The investigation is taut with menace and I enjoyed it enormously. After the devastating happenings in book seventeen I wondered how she would handle the obvious fallout, I needn't have worried. The new story wraps itself around the previous consequences and gently, realistically, and gradually, begins a healing process for all involved which I have no doubt will continue into the next few novels that, as usual, I can't wait to read.
I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Bookouture, but the opinions expressed are my own. This is, once again, an excellent read and I loved it.
Lisa Regan has done it again! Is the Woodsman real? When children start disappearing from the woods the tale spirals out of control, young kids in Denton are scared and teenagers dare their friends to go into the woods. There are lots of twists in this story and every time the detectives think they’ve figured it out something happens to change the facts. An ex-con is front and center in their minds but he vehemently denies being the murderer and claims to know nothing about the missing and murdered children. This is the 18th book in this series and I’m fairly sure I will never grow tired of it. I feel like I’m revisiting the characters when I open the next book in the series. They are all so likable and I want the best for them. If you like mystery/thriller books, this series is for you. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
Josie and Noah with his K9 were investigators for Denton City. A text two sisters 16 and 8 missing in the woods behind their home. They attended a school were tales of The Woodman was told with many version. Hurt feelings for the 16 year old, go back to when the younger sister was born, is she now involved, or a boyfriend.
As other tragedies happen, would Josie find the link to stop, these abductions.
Gripping story along with a K9 and the teams to search, a well written plot.
Given arc by. Net Galley Bookouter for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
This book was a non stop thrill ride from the beginning. I have enjoyed all of Lisa Regan’s books but this one has become my new favorite. I love the development of the characters and twists and turns that kept me from going to sleep. This book is hard to put down but so worth it! I can’t wait for the next book!
There aren't many book series that I will read that have more than 5 or 6 books, but I will always pick up this series no matter how many books are added. I'm so invested in these characters. I love that even though one of those characters is no longer in the series, the other characters still kept him with them in spirit. I feel that loss like it's my own. They even consider what he would do or say in connection with the investigation into the missing and murdered kids.
I will say that Lisa has a way of keeping that twist until the last minute and I almost never know what it will be. I did figure it out beforehand but it didn't make it any less surprising. In this case, the tale of the Woodsman was just that, a tale. Until it became real. Two kids would go out into the woods, only one would return. It's an endless race to connect all the pieces, that will leave you turning the pages until the end. Absolutely loved everything about this story!
How long until I no longer say that Lisa Regan has done it again!?
Another 5 star police procedural from book EIGHTEEN in the Josie Quinn series.
At the elementary school that little Harris attends, rumours of a bogeyman aka the Woodsman circulate, where kids go into the forest and never come out. But maybe they're not just rumours because there's been a string of young kids missing or turning up dead.
For starters, I couldn't have called this ending if my life depended on it. What a friggen twist with an even better message behind it 👏.
I love love love Blue (K-9 unit) and could read about him and his work all day so whenever he features I am hooked and obsessed.
To avoid spoilers, this will make sense to those up to date to book 17: there is a huge moment at the end of book 17 and the way it's dealt with in book 18 is perfection. Throughout the whole book, capturing the issues so well. Couldn't have imagined it done better.
As for the book generally, there is a bad guy POV, which is fab - makes it more creepy. And the story itself was pretty scary and creepy at times with folk lore.
Lisa Regan has yet again nailed the mix of PP, thrills, suspense and mystery and I loved it.
There was one questionable police decision in this that has me 🤔 surely not - but it can slide because the balance is amazing.
Anticipated publication date: 8 September 2023.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and Bookouture for my eARC in exchange for my honest review
Here we are at book 18…..am I tired of it? Absolutely not. I still find this series engaging and entertaining. Josie is still battling her past/demons, but never lets it interfere with her investigation. In this, we dealing with the lore of The Woodsman. Two go into the woods, only one comes out alive. I didn’t see it coming, quite surprised. Very much looking forward to more from Josie & gang.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the copy of My Child Is Missing by Lisa Regan. This is book 18 in the series that just gets better and better, so if you haven't started reading it, don’t put it off any longer! The thing I love the most about this book is how much emotion the characters feel and how they deal with what happened in the previous book. Even if you don’t read every book in the series, the characters are so well-written you really get to know them and care about them. The mystery is woven in with the myth of The Woodsman, who takes children who venture into the woods. I read a lot of thrillers and this was by far one of the best reveals ever. I loved how Josie was finally able to put all of the loose threads together and how everything worked out. I can’t wait to see what happens next in Josie’s life!
Another great book to add to this series! Wow! What a book! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, Action, intrigue, mystery, revenge, murder, serial killer, great who done it, what a great plot twist that i never saw coming, and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I definitely recommend reading this book and series as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
I can’t day that it lived up to the “unputdownable” and “nail biting suspense” billing - to me this was pretty predictable and formulaic, but I suppose that’s to be expected in the 18th book of a series.
'My child is missing'... I guess this is one of the most devastating sentences in the universe. I really can not imagine (and I hope I will never have to go through this ordeal) what people what this must feel like. It must be like the end of the world.
So when the Patchett family call this in, it's all hence on deck for the Denton Police force with Josie Quinn as leading detective.
Still struggling with everything that happened to her in the past, Josie Quinn still puts her victims first, putting her own health on the back burner.
The people of Denton, as well as we, the readers, know Josie will figure everything out and we can count on her to make the world a better and safer place Even though it drains her, she keeps on fighting.
Off course she could not do it without her loyal team, supporting her every step of the way.
Once again the author created a great book with a very shocking outcome. Thank God for authors with such an amazing skill to keep their readers entertained every hour of the day. 5 stars
Thank you
There has never been a time in the last twelve years that Lisa Regan has not gotten a five-star review from me on any of her books. She is the master of female detective novels, and I find it hard to compare anyone else to her skills at not only perfecting the technical aspects of the story but the human elements. My Child is Missing took me ALL the way back to the first time I read Finding Claire Fletcher twelve years ago. Lisa brought it all, and then some with My Child is Missing.
The Woodsman is a story, folklore, a twisted fairy tale told around the campfire to scare kids. It does until kids decide to start testing the theory. Two go in. One comes out. Josie and Noah are the ones called to the scene when it happens in Denton, but folklore aside, a girl is missing, and it's their job to find her.
Still reeling from the loss of their co-worker, the team has to band together once more to find this girl and the man who took her. They're down a man, and Mett had never been more missed than he was when they needed to turn to him for his insight, and he wasn't there. The human element of cops having to continue to do the job that took their friend was so eloquently portrayed by Lisa in this novel. The pain, the loss, the nightmares, and the doubt sat right alongside the love and respect that made up Finn Mettner.
No one, including the chief, was going to let a girl suffer for it, though, so even he jumps in to find poor Kayleigh! As always, Lisa weaves a tangled web that leads the readers through the twisted behind-closed-doors lives of families. No one is better at sussing out the truth than Josie Quinn, though, and when things get real, Josie finds her groove once again.
It's hard to review Lisa's books without spoilers, so I will just say that in book 18, Lisa finds her groove on page one and stays in it all the way to the last page. Be prepared to find every second available to keep turning the pages on this thrill ride! You do not want to put it down until the last page when once again, Lisa offers us that small insight into the personal lives of our favorite detective and her husband as they continue to heal from their losses and look to the future. Kudos, Ms. Regan, on an installment to the JQ series that won't soon be forgotten!
Welp…
Lisa Regan has done it again. And this time I’m really gobsmacked. I never saw it coming.
I’ll say this…the sheer brilliance of this series is the balance. Some books literally leave you gasping (from going over a cliff, iykyk) some breathless from running to the end with Josie. And some get you to the end and have you feeling like you got whacked with a two by four. And every dang time you are like…welp, she did it again.
She is the not only the queen of pacing a book but of pacing a series. She always leaves me wanting more and really that’s something because man Denton is a hotbed of activity.
I’m not sure why everyone isn’t reading her books. Because if you are a fan of Karin Slaughter, Lisa Gardner, and Robert Dugoni (to name a few) you NEED to read her. She is a leading voice in this genre and not to be missed.
Bring on book 19. I’m ready.
