Okay, one of my favourite series (Josie Quinn, book 18) tackling one of my favourite story themes (missing children)? I have never signed up so quickly for a tour!
This series is incredible- book 18 no less, and the action hasn't slowed for one page.
The circumstances surrounding the disapperances are chilling. Two children go into the woods, but only one comes out...
I love Josie Quinn, she has a brilliant backstory to have as a subplot, and the character development is just expertly done by Lisa Regan.
Fabulous as ever.
This is book 18 in the series and deals with the heartbreaking aftermath of the previous book. For that reason, I recommend reading in order, plus it is a fantastic series. I thought it dealt extremely well with the grief and how different people cope and it definitely made me tear up. The crime is based on an extremely creepy urban legend and had me hooked. Even though we know it’s a human being committing the crime the stories about The Woodsman make it scarier. I was not expecting the twist and damn what a twist it was. It was packed full of suspense and the team are as lovable as ever.
I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
After their recent tragedy it looks as though the team may not recover but when a particularly perplexing case comes across their desks they speed into action. The rumours that are terrifying the local children, that there is a kind of bogeyman in the nearby woods were touched upon in the last book when Josie had to convince her friend's 7 year old that there is no such thing. Now, however children are going missing.
I think this is one of the best books in the series. It takes the fact that we all grew up believing in such urban legends to make the book exciting but just a tiny bit creepy. There is a lot of emotion in this book with each member of the dept dealing with recent events but this didn't take away from the suspense and tension of the case at hand. I would recommend potential readers to start at book one because there are a lot of spoilers as the series progresses but it will be worth their while because the backstory is fantastic.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.
Lisa Regan delivers a complex and sinister storyline that is teeming with suspense up until the last page. A great mix of police procedural and suspense with a bit of creepy folklore thrown in. The development of the dynamic (and beloved) cast of characters hits home in this one with some heartfelt moments and new beginnings. Loved it.
Thanks to #NetGalley for the ARC which was read and reviewed voluntarily.
Series just keeps getting better. Complex and gripping with strong police team and creative criminals. Real emotion at the loss of Mettner, we all miss him too. What a turn at the end of this one, be prepared to be up all night.
A digital copy of this book was provided to me by NetGalley and Bookouture. The opinions are my own and freely given.
Two children are missing. 16-year-old Kayleigh and her little sister eight-year-old Savannah. Savannah has heard stories of The Woodsman and is scared. Her sister takes her for a walk in the woods to show her that The Woodsman isn't real and it just a story made up to scare kids. But when the girls don't come back home Josie and her team are called in to search for them. Then they find one of the girls whose sister disappeared, and she heard her cries. Now the race is on to find her alive. Josie is still struggling with the loss of one of her team members and trying to calm Harris' fears (her "nephew") about The Woodsman. Then the team discovers the kids in all the counties are doing "challenges" to see if they can survive The Woodsman.
This is a fast-paced story that keeps your interest. Josie Quinn is one of my most favorite series, and if you haven't read her, I urge you to do so.
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan!

Lisa Regan did it again! Amazing, thrilling and big twist at the end! I did not see that one coming! My Child is Missing is a gripping tale thar will not disappoint!
This is defiantly a page turner. I had a really hard time putting it down. The plot twist in this story is amazing. It elevated the intensity and made the story. Well done…can’t wait for the next one.
I've followed this series since book 13 which was lucky for me! Lisa Regan is an exceptional author who immerses you in her writing and is consistent in her delivery.
After the ending of book 17 I was interested to see where this one would pick up and it didn't disappoint the consequences and reactions were on point.
The Woodsman is on the hunt and Joise and her team are tasked with finding this fictitious character, this was like a jigsaw puzzle, complex and challenging just how I like it.
I have missed reading this series and so am coming back to it, it is as good as I remember and I am now going to go back to the ones that I have missed. This can be read as a standalone (like I did as missed 5 books) but feel it would be even better reading in the series.
The ending was just divine, absolutely perfect The whole book just kept my attention and I just had to keep reading - definitely an afternoon read.
I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.
Another installment in the Josie Quinn murder mystery series finds us back in Denton, Pennsylvania dealing with an even darker murder mystery than the last. Missing girls, a bogeyman named The Woodsman, a teenager acting up and out, maybe a serial killer and more death. Lisa Unger has once again crafted a great police procedural that is also a crime drama thriller. All of Unger's characters make an appearance that make this story an easy continuation. The interesting aspect of this installment is the premise that The Woodsman is a story but it constantly circles around when does “just a story” become reality?! When young girls disappear and their bodies are found is that “just a story”? Yeah, Lisa Regan has done it again.
A million thanks to Bookoutre and NetGalley for a copy.
Lisa Regan has done. it. again.
Teenagers in Denton, Pennsylvania are scaring themselves silly with tales of the Woodsman, a bogeyman who takes children when they go into the forest. Two go in, only one comes out alive, so the story goes, and now children are daring themselves and each other go to into the woods. Kayleigh Patchett goes out with her little sister Savannah to prove that the Woodsman is just a myth. Josie, Noah, and the team are called in when their parents report them both missing. But Kayleigh is nowhere to be seen, and Savannah claims that the Woodsman took her sister.
The team struggles without Mett’s presence and helpful insights, and they push themselves past the point of exhaustion, working nearly around the clock to keep the case moving. Lead after lead fizzles out. Frustration mounts, and the more time that passes, the more they fear what they’ll find will be Kayleigh’s dead body – especially once another teenager is found dead.
In case I haven’t said it, Lisa Regan is the absolute master of suspense. She uses every word, every comma, every bit of dialogue to maximum effect. The snippets of the villain’s point of view interspersed throughout really ramp up the tension.
This story is about a mystery and the hard work the police put into solving it. But it’s also a study in family dynamics and a most excellent thriller with a plot twist that had my jaw hitting the floor. If you love a compelling work of detective fiction that doesn’t give the ending away, with characters you will come to love as old friends (after eighteen books, they’re practically family!), get to know Josie Quinn.
I was so excited to recieve this book to read. The Josie Quinn series is one of my ultimate favorites. I was glad to see how everyone was dealing with the events from the previous book. This book kept me questioning who I thought the killer was. I was not expecting who it really turned out to be. I can not wait for the next book in the series to come out!
This is book 18 in the Josie Quinn series, and while it’s best to read the whole series for better backstory and context, My Child Is Missing functions perfectly well as a standalone novel with just the right amount of exposition to make you feel comfortable and familiar with the characters.
From the beginning this book gripped me. The plot pulled me along at a good pace and held my attention from first page to last. Some series begin to feel a bit ‘samey’ once they reach double figures, but this book does not fall into that trap; the author keeps things fresh and intriguing throughout with brilliant character development. While investigating this case, Josie feels it’s very close to home as one of the missing children is in the same year at her nephews school.
I like Josie. She’s flawed and can be self-conscious, and dwells on previous events which have clearly affected her. But she’s intelligent, determined, and fiercely protective of those around her. Noah Farley is a very likeable and credible character. Married to Josie, they work together on cases such as this and make a fantastic team. Other characters, notably Luke, are people you’d be happy to sit and chat with, but there are also those you’d cross the road to avoid.
Overall, this is the best book in the series so far and I can’t recommend it highly enough, albeit with the caveat that you should read the series to feel fully immersed in the world according to Josie Quinn. I gave My Child Is Missing, by Josie Quinn, five stars, and I can’t wait to read what she comes up with next.
WOW WOW WOW LISA REGAN IS A MASTER STORYTELLER!! Josie Quinn is my FAVORITE!! Lisa Regan is my favorite author of All time! The twists and turns were INCREDIBLE!! My brain was spinning trying to figure out who the killer was!! great character development!! I’m so excited to read book 19!!
Top notch suspense! Lisa Regan's Detective Josie Quinn series never disappoints with a case to solve that always takes dips and turns we never would have expected to keep us invested and to thrill our senses. On top of the suspense, the cast of co-workers, friends and family is always heartwarming and emotional. This one in particular had some heart wrenching memories haunting them and tugged on my heart. I always look forward to Josie and the gang and can't wait for more to come!
"The Woodsman". Is he real or just a boogeyman that the kids are telling each other? Rumors are spreading about the legend of “The Woodsman”: when pairs of children go into the woods, The Woodsman takes one of them and only one comes out alive.
Wow, I can't believe we are on the 18th book in the Detective Josie Quinn series! This series doesn't let me down. Always a great story, superb writing and characters that you love (I miss Mettner too!). I love Josie's grit, determination, and cut-throat bravery. All her books keeps me glued until the end and always a twist!
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan for an ARC of "My Child is Missing".
My Child is Missing is the eighteenth book in Lisa Regan's Josie Quinn series. After eighteen books, I can say with confidence that the series is still going strong. In My Child is Missing, Regan treated her fans to a page turning, captivating and suspenseful read.
This instalment centres around the legend of The Woodsman, 'Two go in the woods, but only one comes out'. Talk of the legend is circulating through schools, which further intensifies when sixteen-year-old Kayleigh Patchett went missing. She and her sister, Savannah, went into the woods, but only Savannah returned unharmed. The question on everyone's mind is where is Kayleigh? Did the Woodsman take her? Is she still alive?
Search after search and Josie and her team were no closer to finding Kayleigh. Meanwhile, another pair of teens, a male and female, went missing, with only the male returning alive. As Josie and her team investigates, damning information which place two of the victims in a bad light surfaced. Josie is confident she knows the identity of the perpetrator, if only she could find the evidence to support her theory.
The story pulls the reader in, and in doing so, one feels a part of the investigation. It's interesting to note that readers so get a preview into the thoughts of the perpetrator. This, however, provided no clues as to their identity. While reading, several theories came to mind, one of which proved to be right. Traversing through the maze of clues increased the tension and kept the reader on pins and needles.
The aftermath from the tragedy in Close Her Eyes weighed heavily on Josie and her team. The memories stirred up bittersweet feelings. However, as the story progresses, each slowly came to a place of acceptance, thus kicking the healing process into gear.
Fans of police procedurals and crime fiction will want to start this series sooner than later.

I just reviewed My Child is Missing (Detective Josie Quinn Book 18) by Lisa Regan. #Myter.
The kids are all talking about the “Woodsman” – when he takes you, you don’t get to see your mom again. It’s frightening younger kids and daring older kids to head into the woods. Josie and her team get called to the disappearance Kayleigh and her younger sister Savannah, a massive search is set in motion. Savannah is found – “the Woodsman took my sister” - As the team digs deeper they see a trend … media is not helping.
Lots of slips and turns, and I totally didn’t see the end coming!
This is book #18 in the Detective Josie Quinn series. If you have not read the first 17 books, no fear, this one can be read as a stand alone, you won't pick up on all of the historical references, but its still a very good book, as all of the Det Quinn books are.
Children are missing. No particular age, race, sex, etc, they just are taken as they enter the woods in pairs. Two go in, only one comes out. A local legend has it that the "Woodsman" takes a child and never gives them back. Quinn and her team are determined to find the missing children, and then a teen is found murdered in the woods. The tension rachets up as time runs quickly and the clues don't show up. The ending.....well I'm not telling, you'll have to read it for yourself.
This is a great series. As in all series, I loved some more than others, but I'd recommend all of them to any mystery/thriller fan looking for a new-to-them author.
