My child is missing is the first book I’ve read by Lisa Regan, and even though it’s book 18 in a series I found it very easy to read as a stand alone thriller. Although given how much I enjoyed this read and some questions I’d like answered I will certainly be going back to the start of this book to learn more about Detective Josie Quinn.

Kayleigh and her little sister Savannah head into the the woods so that Kayleigh can prove to her little sister to that “the woodsman” isn’t real and that she is safe. However when Kayleigh and Savannah fail to come home their parents call the police and a search is launched to find the 2 girls.

Savannah is found reasonably quickly, however Kayleigh is no where to be seen. Savannah tells Josie that her sister was taken by the woodsman. Josie throws all her resources into finding Kayleigh however soon the investigation stalls and Josie and her team hit dead end after dead end.

In the meantime since Kayleigh has disappeared more teenagers have started going into the woods to see if they can survive the woodsman. If two go in and two come out then they have beaten him, however if two goes in and one comes out the woodsman wins, and a life is lost.

Josie tries to keep rumours of the woodsman at bay, telling people it’s just a myth however it becomes clear that the woodsman is looking for recognition and the more that Josie tries to keep a lid on the woodsman the more attacks seem to be taking place. The woodsman is determined to make a name for himself and to be heard.

All the way through my child is missing I had no idea who the woodsman was, what was coming next and at one point I remember thinking to myself how is this book going to end, with nearly the whole book read I was starting to wonder if this story would roll into the next book (if there’s going to be one), however when all was revealed and the ending played out I was completely shocked by the conclusion and did not see that one coming at all.

A very cleverly written book which will have readers hooked from start to finish. I can’t wait to go back to the first book in this series and read them all from the beginning.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for this review.

Lisa Regan is one the best mystery/thriller authors of our time. I have read every word she's ever written and have hung off every sentence. She keeps you guessing and just when you think you know where she's taking you, she twists the plot and it's so much better than you could have imagined.
This latest addition to the Josie Quinn series is just as amazing as the 17 before it and as always, I can not wait for the next one. That's the thing with Lisa Regan books.... all at once you want to get to the end to see what happens while hoping they never end because then you miss the characters until next time.
Lisa Regan is an author that can not be missed. You will never regret time spent inside of her stories.

Wow! Lisa Regan hits this one out of the park! Packed with amazing twists and tension. So nice to sink into a great story with familiar characters. I was hooked early on and flipped pages way past my bedtime. Loved everything about this book.

Holy smokes-What a twisty ride! I could not put this one down. This story follows Josie and the Denton PD as they look for a missing girl and unearth more questions than answer.
This is book 18 in the Josie Quinn series. I previously have read books 1-10 and it did not impact my investment in the storyline that I haven’t yet read books 11-17. I definitely need to read them asap because I can tell I missed out on some important developments for the Denton community and these characters.
Regan wove together a fantastic mystery in this installment and the suspense built with each chapter. I held my breath several times and I know my jaw dropped to the floor near the end. What a fabulous read!
Thank you to the author and Bookouture for the opportunity to read an advanced copy, all thoughts and opinions shared are my own.

This is book #18 in the series. Talk about an unexpected ending! It was another great read and I look forward to the next book in the series😊

Detective Josie Quinn is called in on the case of two missing girls. The sisters went for a walk in the woods but never came home. Their parents are frantic with worry. The search team locates the younger girl, but her sister, 16-year-old Kayleigh is still missing. What happened to her?

The story of ‘The Woodsman’ has been circulating around the schools, terrifying local children. Is this just a myth or is someone out there acting out this tale? The team has suspects but they seem to have alibies. When another local teen turns up dead, the search for Kayleigh intensifies. Will they find her before it's too late?

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Lisa Regan can do no wrong! The Josie Quinn series is one of my absolute favorites, and I would read them forever. The last book broke our hearts and this book did a great job of healing, while not overwhelming the reader in grief. The characters are loved and relatable and the mysteries do not get old. You can read each book as a standalone (she does slight recaps in each book) but I do recommend reading the whole series to build your connection to the characters!

Thank you Net Galley and Lisa Regan for the chance to read and offer my opinion on Josie Quinn -#18, My Child is Missing.

While it might be the eighteenth, it is clear that Lisa Regan hasn’t lost any steam, nor has JQ. They’re both better than ever.

Josie, troubled by her traumatic past and the recent loss of Detective Mettner, finds herself knee deep in a missing persons case. A case of a missing teen that may be related to some cases in surrounding counties.

Like no other, this JQ struck a cord with me. She’s clearly dealing with post traumatic stress, guilt and a childhood filled with suffering. However she rises above it all and sees clues where no one else does leading to a twist of a solution. I could not have seen that coming. Skillful Lisa Regan! Very clever.

Again, holding my breath for #19.

Just in time for Spooky Season, Josie and her crew are faced with the story of The Woodsman, a legendary man in the forest who takes one child and lets the other one go home. While the detectives scoff at the schoolyard rumors, kids start disappearing. And then Josie finds out that some kids in nearby counties have disappeared in a similar manner. Together this all makes for a great combo of possible horror and good ol' fashioned Denton police mystery! At the same time, Josie and the others are dealing with the loss of a core member from the previous book. This one was a good tribute and remembrance of the beloved member of the team and helps provide some closure to the series readers as well.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars
Detective Josie Quinn and her team are back for more heart-stopping, crime-solving action in this newest thriller by Lisa Regan. In Book 18 of the Josie Quinn series, a killer is on the loose and is luring kids into a dangerous game. Two go into the woods, but only one comes out. If you know Josie, she will stop at nothing to bring a killer to justice. There’s only one problem…a twist you will never see coming! I could not put this book down! True to Lisa’s style, this was an unforgettable thriller and will leave you wanting more.

My favorite takeaways:
💫non-stop suspense
💫unexpected twist
💫we see a softer/more vulnerable Josie

Release Date: September 08, 2023!

If you are new to the Josie Quinn series, this series is a MUST READ by a talented author!!! Just when I think Lisa cannot top her last book, she proves me wrong with her latest thriller.

Thank you @Netgalley and @Bookouture for sending this book in exchange for my honest review.

Lisa Regan’s gripping thriller, “My Child Is Missing,” is book 18 in the Detective Josie Quinn series. Readers are immediately drawn into the heart-wrenching world of Detective Josie Quinn as she races against time to find two missing sisters. From the very first page, Regan’s vivid descriptions paint a vivid picture of the little girl’s fear, her wide blue eyes reflecting the terror that grips her. The urgency of the situation is palpable as Josie delves into the case, uncovering a chilling legend known as “The Woodsman” who preys on children in the woods.

Regan masterfully weaves together a tale of suspense and mystery, keeping readers on the edge of their seats as Josie follows leads that seem to reach dead ends. The author’s attention to detail is impeccable, drawing readers into the dark and eerie world of Denton, where teenagers dare each other to venture into the woods at night. The fear and hysteria that grip the town are palpable, creating an atmosphere of tension that intensifies with each page.

As Josie delves deeper into the investigation, the plot thickens, with another pair of children going missing and one turning up dead. The stakes are raised, and Josie’s determination to find the killer and save Kayleigh, the still-missing sister, becomes even stronger. Regan expertly crafts a multifaceted narrative, introducing twists and turns that keep readers guessing until the very end.

One of the strengths of “My Child Is Missing” lies in the well-developed characters. Detective Josie Quinn is a relatable and complex protagonist, driven by her unwavering commitment to justice. Readers will find themselves rooting for her as she navigates the dark underbelly of Denton, unraveling secrets and unmasking the truth. The supporting cast is equally compelling, with each character bringing depth and nuance to the story.

Lisa Regan’s writing style is clear, concise, and engaging, allowing readers to easily immerse themselves in the story. Her prose flows effortlessly, capturing the emotions and tension of each scene. The pacing is well-balanced, with moments of intense action interspersed with quieter, introspective moments that provide insight into the characters’ minds.

In conclusion, “My Child Is Missing” is a thrilling and gripping novel that will keep readers hooked from beginning to end. Lisa Regan’s masterful storytelling and compelling characters make this book a must-read for fans of suspense and mystery. Be prepared to lose yourself in the chilling world of “The Woodsman” and join Detective Josie Quinn on her relentless quest to find the killer before more innocent lives are lost.

This book is standalone as the case starts and finishes all within the book. However, the characters’ storylines and growth are all developed over the course of the series – so, do yourself a favor and start with book 1.

A complex case. Two young people go into the woods, but only one comes back. Seems to have happened several times. The latest case has just happened - two sisters - only one came back from the woods. Is The Woodsman, that everyone is talking about, behind it all? And, if he is, then who is The Woodsman?

This is what Josie and her team are trying to figure out, but with teenagers having vivid imaginations, trying to hide things from adults, not telling anyone what they know and so forth, it seems that its is impossible to get the info the police need.

This book is somehow so good, and oh so dark, at the same time. I read it very fast, because I wanted to find out the truth. I was taken by surprise, and I love that! Lisa Regan is such a brilliant author, and if you have not read her books, then I'm positive I am not accepting your excuse, if you're not doing it soon!

Another amazing book in the Josie Quinn series. This may be book 18 in the series but I have read and immensely enjoyed every single book of the series. Fast paced storyline with so many twists to make you dizzy and wanting more. I just love the relationship between Josie and Noah and in turn their relationship with the rest of their team. If you haven't read any of these books I 1000% recommend them, you won't be disappointed. Bring on the next book.

🚨Page-turning suspense in central PA⏳

This latest Josie Quinn police procedural grabbed me from the start through to the truly shocker ending. The plot moves so smoothly forward that I read it in one day, unable to leave the mystery of Kayleigh's disappearance and the danger scaring small children and stalking Denton, Pennsylvania's teens under the guise of the mythical Woodsman. I also liked the balance between the police investigation and glimpses of the private lives of the detectives.

A definite and strong recommendation from me. My Child is Missing inspired me to go out and pick up several older books in the series as soon as I had finished it; I just love Josie Quinn, hubby Noah and want more!

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

This is a book you will not want to put down till the end.
Book 18th in the series and Lisa Regan still managed to produce a unique story.
Through the series we have come to know and love some of the characters. How they interact with each other. Dealing with the loss of a coworker in the previous book is still strongly felt by the group as they miss his attitude and input to the case on hand. We see teenagers been teenagers by doing stupid things and daring each other. We see parents making the mistake of trying to control every aspect of their children’s life. How often the older child is ignored in favor of the youngest happens even more with an 8-year age difference.
I be surprised if you could guess who the evil person is and how it was accomplished until near the end of the book.

This is book #18 in the Josie Quinn series. Whilst it is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone book. Josie Quinn is facing her creepiest case yet when a local folklore, The Woodsman, comes to life. Children are going into the woods in pairs, but only one comes out alive. Josie and her team are struggling to find missing teenager Kayleigh who has disappeared after going into the woods with her younger sister Savannah. Local children are talking about The Woodsman, a man who finds you in the woods, but surely his story is only a legend?

I have read all of this series, but found this book the one that gave me the chills the most! The thought of the Woodsman hiding in the woods, taking and killing children was seriously scary. The tension and suspense of Josie's investigation began right from the first page and I was very quickly hooked into the story and the race to find missing teenager Kayleigh. I love Josie's character and enjoyed watching her do what she does best, leading her team and finding the bad guys! Her usual team are back to support her, and I loved the team dynamics of Quinn, Noah, Gertrude and the Chief! Mettner's storyline did continue to bring tears to my eyes though as Josie still struggles with his loss.

The storyline was great, and held my attention throughout. The list of suspects grew and the chase to find who it was twisted and turned as the story moved on. Josie's character is amazingly written and we get to experience her fears, vulnerabilities and weaknesses along with her, although I'm really hoping we'll get to see happier times for Josie in future books! A gripping police procedural thriller, would recommend!

I was drawn into this story from the first page. Lisa,Regan expertly weaves a new murder mystery with enough back story about the characters to keep the series fresh and appealing. I am excited to see what she comes up with next.

Oh the twists! The Woodsman is truly cold and evil, but who is he?

Lisa Regan did it again! Josie and crew are in for one heck of journey to solve these crimes. We all have a boogeyman. My dad called him Mr Bloody Fingers. There is always someone to fear in the woods no matter where you grew up.

Every new Josie Quinn book is like catching up with family. The characters are so well written that they become part of you. They have so much healing still to do after Close Her Eyes. Let’s be honest, we all do. But serial killers don’t care.

My Child is Missing is one heck of a ride. It keeps you guessing until the end. You will never regret reading this series.

My Child is Missing is book 18 of the Josie Quinn seres and just like the other books in the series was an amazing read! I found it to be a page turner and with a lot of twists that i didn’t see coming. The plot was great, the story flowed beautifully and the suspense and mystery was intricately woven into the story. I loved seeing Josie and Noah, who are total couple goals! Josie is still dealing with her trauma and grief and you see the effects it’s having on her and how she deals with that while trying to crack a hard case. I loved seeing my favourite secondary characters- Gretchen, Misty, Harris, Anya, Chief Chitwood, Luke, Blue and who doesn’t love Trout!
I’m a Josie Quinn series fanatic and i don’t see myself ever missing a book by Lisa Regan because her work continuously impresses me!
