Another extraordinary tale spun by Lisa Regan in Detective Josie Quinn’s latest case, My Child is Missing. The Woodsman, is he real, or is it merely rumour and the power of social media? Josie and her team are soon on the case as two sisters go into the woods but only one is found. However, this is not an isolated case and all signs are pointing to the emergence of that of a serial killer. Josie continues to battle her own demons and the past intersects with the present in this thrilling read as it’s a race against time and the body count rises before the killer is caught in an unexpected twist you don’t see coming. Will you dare to go into the woods?
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.
My Child is Missing (Detective Josie Quinn Book 18) by Lisa Regan What can one say that hasn't been said about this author and the Josie Quinn Series.....it just keeps geting better and better, This book is more involved with investigation of the missing girls cases. Not so much about the about the team, other than the prevailing sadness for each of the characters after Finn's death. The unique resolution of the case is indeed an eye opened and unexpected. Looking forward to the next in the series. Highly recommended. Where's that 10 star button.
Thank you to the Lisa Regan, Bookouture. and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
Another great Josie Quinn book. I love this series. Two children go into the woods. Only one returns. Is it a serial killer or is the Woodsman real? Josie, Noah and the rest of the crew have their hands full trying to solve missing teens and murders. I was very surprised at the ending and that’s a good thing for a book. I highly recommend this series to mystery lovers.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of My Child is Missing by Lisa Regan that I read and reviewed.
The first thing I wasn’t to say is be sure you read book seventeen before you read this book because there is a ton of spoilers for this book in this one and if you are a fan of Josie Quinn you don’t want to know about it until you read that book. With that being said about this book the ending blew my mind mind. I had some idea of how it was going to go but not to the extent that it went. Lisa Regan took this book to the next level with the crazy killer and what they were up to in this book.
This book was also very emotional. I found myself choking up in a number of spots. Overall, this was one heck of an emotional rollercoaster I was not expecting to take. I did not read it in one sitting like I usually do because there was so much emotion in this one. But, still a great Josie Quinn boo.
My Child is Missing gets five out of five stars.
I can’t believe that we are up to book 18 in the utterly fabulous Josie Quinn series and I am still loving every new book and always looking forward to the next one to come. I can’t praise Lisa Regan enough she has crafted another addictive story in this latest episode and the only bad thing I can say about it is I was so damn sad to finish it as it was so good!
All the team are back with of course the exception of one and that’s all I will say on that score as I wouldn’t want to spoil anything for other readers that may not have read previous books yet. The story line is a gripping and sad one and as usual I was hooked from the off I finished the book quickly mainly as I couldn’t put the damn kindle down and that for me is always a joy.
So another fantastic 5 star read and if haven’t already please give this series a go as it’s too good to miss and many thanks Lisa Regan you certainly are a superb author.
My thanks also to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion .
Every time I think Lisa Regan can't get any better, she proves me wrong! My Child Is Missing sinks is claws into you from the very first page and doesn't let go until the last! Her words draws you into the world of Josie Quinn making you forget that's its only a fictional place! This book takes you on a wild ride with twists and turns you'd never see coming! It is definitely a MUST READ! Takes you into a world better than any show or movie could!
This is Lisa Regan’s 18th book in this series and it does not disappoint. The kids in town claim there is a Woodsman who is kidnapping kids and never brings them back. But the adults all say it’s a myth and it’s not even real so which is it? Josie Quinn is the lead detective on the case and even though this is only my 3rd novel in this series (how can that be?), I really enjoyed everything that went into this book. The twist at the end was WOW!! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review. To be published September 2023.
Another edge-of-your-seat thriller by a favorite author of mine! The story of The Woodsman has spread through Denton, scaring many, but daring others to take a challenge to go into the woods to prove there’s nothing to the rumors. Josie and her team are called in to locate two missing girls. Hours later, the younger sister, Savannah, is located hiding in the woods. Her sister, Kayleigh, is nowhere to be found. When Savannah is finally able to tell what happened, she insists The Woodsman took Kayleigh.
Can Josie and her team solve the mystery of The Woodsman before any other lives are lost? I don’t want to give any spoilers so I’ll keep this short. There are family dynamics in play, deceit, twists, turns, surprises, and more! This is such a great series!
I did figure out a couple of things along the way, but that didn’t detract from the story in any way.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book was amazing! Another great and entertaining addition to The Josie Quinn series! This one was another great edge of your seat thriller, the mystery was well done in this one and kept me guessing who the killer was!! I would highly recommend this book to everyone!!
Lisa done it again. I love each Josie book more and more.
The Woodsman is hunting kids/teens. Or is this just a legend?
The plot was outstanding and flowed so smoothly.
That what in the world moment was not expected. I couldn’t believe that twist.
Loved every second of this one. Can’t wait for the next.
Many thanks to Netgalley for the chance to read and review this one.
Every Lisa Regan book is a must read, must buy/borrow for me! I've read almost every book she's written from the very first one years ago. The Josie Quinn series starts off so good and then progresses to be even better, if possible. I am such a fan of the cast of characters in them; they speak realistically and the plots are highly plausible.
In this book, Josie's team has their most difficult case to date-- The Woodsman! Children go into the woods as pairs, and only one will come back. It reminded me of other urban legends in the past that frighten kids and teens alike, only this Woodsman is real (and he does snatch kids). Josie is still dealing with the tragedy that happened in book #17-- and I won't spoil that for anyone. She also still carries her baggage from a traumatic, abusive childhood, and she ponders whether she would want to have a baby and bring a child into this dangerous world.
This is my favorite Josie Quinn book so far, though I seem to say that every time I read one. If you are a fan of mysteries, crime fiction, suspense, thrillers or all of the above, be sure to pick up this one-- it's a winner!
5/5 stars, received from the publisher through NetGalley for an honest opinion
I love the author’s books. They are quick reads that suck you in and make you want more. I was sure I knew what was going on in this one. Positive. And nope I was wrong.
It’s part of the genre I call a popcorn thriller. It plays out in my head as I read it.
With book #18 comes the same phrase each time.... 'she's done it again!', I'm pretty sure I'll still be saying the same at book 25 and beyond - no complaints here!
With each new installment that lands in my inbox comes the happy dance around the kitchen and when this one landed came a massive 'WHOOP' alongside the dance which gave me a few strange looks as I was in the supermarket at the time 🤣 but for Josie Quinn I'd do anything.
I'm not sure why but this book touched me differently in both the actual storyline/case and the goings on with the team since Mettners demise. It was the relationship with the girls parents that just hit hard *NO SPOILERS*, it actually made me look at myself in a way I never had before. As a mother to three teenagers (send wine) I always try to make sure (not always successfully) that they all feel special, valued and as important as each other.
The powerhouse that is Detective Josie Quinn is still reeling from the trauma of losing her partner aswell as the unfold childhood traumas she still carries with her. Not sleeping due to a reoccurring nightmare, Josie is struggling.
A call comes in that two sisters are missing after taking a walk in the woods. Josie and her husband and partner Lieutenant Noah Fraley start investigating and as the investigation takes hold they are shocked by what they find. This isnt the first time two children have disappeared but each time only one is found.
Now I'm sure we can all remember there being a terrifying urban legend/myth around as children? Mine was the Candyman... this time it's The Woodsman., rumours have already spread around Harris's school and whilst Josie and Noah have tried their hardest to dampen down the rumours, this case has brought it to the forefront.
Can Josie connect the dots before it's too late? How many ,more children will go missing before the bogeyman is caught?
Book #18, even though it does cover the characters personal lives at points, was more about the case. It does bring in the ending of book #17 and covers it beautifully but it wasn't as in depth of the characters profiles as previous books.
The ending is just completely WOW! The twists and turns threw me off completely and I wouldn't have guessed in a million years! What a twist, I did not see that one coming!.
This is the most entertaining, engaging, thrilling series EVER but now I'm sat sulking as once again I promised myself I'd read it slowly but once again I stayed up all night to read it.
Huge thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.
Any book where i find myself thinking I know who the culprit is to second guessing myself and then being stunned when all is revealed is a winner in my mind. I read this in one sitting as I could not stop reading once I started. The story is every parents nightmare of losing a child and made worse as you find out more and more about the parents. Definitely did some parent judging while reading, despite this being fictional. Josie and Noah are working overtime to find out who is calling themselves The Woodsman and murdering teens as well as trying to find where Kayleigh has gone. Josie is struggling with the death of her partner Mett, in the last book as he challenged her to be a better detective. We get to catch up with the characters from previous books, which is always nice. It is only at the very end that Josie, Noah and the department figure it all out and find justice for the victims.
A mystery that will have you asking who is it until the final pages and shaking your head when you find out who.
Two children have gone missing, only one returns. The Woodsman is waiting and watching and picking his victims. There all children and the children know who it is but two will go and only one will return to their mother. This is the legend that has Harris so scared he's having nightmares and as hard as Josie tries to tell him differently he just doesn't believe her.
Read about these kids and this legend in this mystery/thriller. You'll not want to stop until the end.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Local teenagers are disappearing as they enter the woods searching for The Woodsman. The stories are spreading around that if two go in only one comes out. While these tales should keep kids from wandering into the forest, it of course does the opposite. So, Detective Josie Quinn and her team are on the case when two sisters in Denton are missing and only one comes back. After determining that these are not the only cases of children disappearing in the woods, they fear there could be a very real serial killer.
Any story involving creepy legends like this is awesome and this is no exception. Dark woods, isolated cabins, how can you resist? The ending is not what you’d expect and that’s always a plus. The subplot of Josie and Noah contemplating becoming parents is expertly woven into the storyline, as Josie worries about bringing a child into the world only to be preyed upon by the criminals they investigate. I can imagine that it’s a very real struggle for officers based on the everyday horrors that they encounter.
This is definitely not a story to miss, whether you’re brand new to this series or have read every one like I have!
The boogie man is called The Woodsman, and children are enthralled and terrified of him. They enter the woods in pairs to look for him, and only one child ever makes it out of the woods alive.
Detective Josie Quinn investigates when Kayleigh goes missing and her young sister, Savannah is brought home safely.
Kayleigh's body is not found, unlike the other cases.
Luke and his tracking dog track Kayleigh to a cabin deep in the woods, but there is no trace of her. The owner has a solid alibi.
But the rumours of the legendary Woodsman carry on, despite Josie insisting that it is only a story.
Fantastic twist in this novel! I have read and enjoyed every single Josie Quinn book by Lisa Regan, and this one had me turning the pages frantically, trying to find a clue to who the Woodsman actually is!!!
The book is intense, gripping and fast paced. I loved it. Josie is one of my favourite female detectives.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Lisa Regan's Detective Josie Quinn books are ones that I stop everything for to read immediately. Ms. Regan takes the reader on quite a wild ride in My Child is Missing. Josie and her husband, Noah, along with the Chief and Gretchen are called in on a Saturday after two sisters are reported missing by their parents. The family lives in a wooded area, and there's a tale regarding the Woodsman that is running wild throughout the schools. He takes his prey in pairs - one he kills and the other he lets leave the forest. Ms. Regan keeps building the tension and momentum until nearly the end when she flips... and throws quite a spin into this story. Absolutely amazing! Please get hooked on this Series - it's one of the best around! Thank you to Bookouture for an advanced reader of this book. The opinions expressed are my own.
Detective Josie Quinn is tasked at the very beginning to find a missing child who had gone into the woods with her younger sister. The older sister was going to prove to the younger one The Woodsman was fictional. The story of The Woodsman was filtering throughout the area scaring children saying when two children went into the woods, only one would come out alive. Parents did not take the story seriously and tried to dismiss the fears when their children came home from school terrified. But when the younger sister was found only to tell authorities her sister was taken by The Woodsman, the threat became real.
Josie and her team desperately seek every lead available when another child is missing. As Josie taps into surrounding counties, she finds out similar cases are open and there is a serial killer in their county.
Lisa Regan does not disappoint with this one! This book will keep you racing to the very end with a definite twist! It is full of emotional upheaval and action packed details. Definitely a 5 star!
