SUCH a good book! This is a follow up / additional read to his first book The Big Leap (which is also amazing). This is the type of book you read when you're ready to launch - if you've been stuck, or are trying to decide which way to go next, this book provides the push you're looking for. A great self help book!

Always useful teachings. I would recommend this for someone who had already read The Big Leap and is looking for something to read by their bedside or every morning. Having this as an ebook made it hard to refer to for quick daily teachings for me, so I’d recommend having it on your phone or getting the print copy to have the true impact.

This is all about tiny changes adding up. Incremental moves that are easily forgotten or pushed aside can make a GIANT impact on your future. That's the message in a nutshell.

Some people may not like to move small, but then those people would also be surprised to hear that the big flashy leaps they wanted...didn't do anything because they didn't actually happen.

There's a lot of good here, so I do hope more people read it.

Solid 4.3.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is a great addition to the topic of mind over everything. Shifting our thoughts to build our equanimity to achieve our goals has to one of the hottest topic at the moment. Being mindful and teaching ourself to rewire our genetic or environmental wiring seems to be added to every curriculum, work place and household. Trying to cultivate the thoughts to keep the leaping going takes a great deal of effort but from personal experience and a former skeptic, it is all the way possible. Consistency and community is key. I certainly would recommend this read if you too are on a journey of renewal and self discovery.

I had not read the widely popular freshman book to this one, so I went in as a blank slate. After reading this daily-devotional-style read with positive affirmations and small actions to elicit change, I have to say that I'm now interested in reading the precursor to this one!

I thought this one was delightful and easily digestible. I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea as it definitely marches to the beat of it's own drum, but I liked it and I'll be ordering the physical copy as soon as I can get my hands on it!

I would like to thank NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing me to read this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to the author Gay Hendrix, publishers St. Martin's Essentials, and NetGalley for an advance digital copy of YOUR BIG LEAP YEAR. All views are mine.

Opening Quotes: Commitment feels different. ... Commitment has intention. Willingness opens the space for something positive to occur; commitment takes you into action. Loc.106

YOUR BIG LEAP YEAR is designed to be read every day, only a page or two. Once I had a chance to look at it, I decided I did want to use tge book ad it's designed, rather than read it cover to cover and review it purely on impression. Do I started working through it, and honestly, I think quite a lot of it. The first two days are introspective and extremely similar to each other because the idea is to begin processing the motivation to change. I'm really looking forward to reading through the rest of the book and reviewing it again at the end!

Are you ready to make a big change in your life starting today? To reach your full potential? To be happier? Then slow your roll…Your Big Leap Year is intended to be used over the course of a full year.

Some people are not ready to implement such a major change in their thoughts quickly. Or they may not have more than about 10 minutes per day to devote to change. For those people, this book is perfect. It breaks down the author’s previous self-help book, The Big Leap, into daily tasks.

The big leap is to realize the skill you are best at, release any hidden threats to your success, and achieve your genius level. Most of the daily tasks can be done by reading a ten-minute instruction and then thinking when you have a minute or two during the day. None of these tasks are earthshakingly new. But they are presented in a logical order. I believe your life will improve if you do the 366 daily tasks listed in the book. The hardest part will be not reading ahead (at least that was my most difficult challenge).

So, you have a choice: read this book, Your Big Leap Year, and make daily improvements to your mindset, or read The Big Leap and try to make a quick change to your life. Both are valid approaches. Good luck on your journey. 4 stars.

Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for a digital review copy of the book.

I read somewhere that it is better to make resolutions in February once the new year is settling in. If that makes sense, here is a book that will encourage readers to have an exceptional year. It offers something for every day to incorporate into making for a good life.

In the introduction, Hendricks summarizes the two principles that drive this book. They are how to eliminate Upper Limit Problems (what is done when things are gong well) and how to live in, what the book refers to as, the Genius Zone.

This book is organized into what are called cycles. Within each are themes and ways to put each theme into action. Start with day one where the author asks for the reader’s commitment and then try to keep going. Hopefully, things will be learned.

Those who like self-help and motivational works may well find this title to be helpful. Hopefully, many of the entries will resonate.

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this title. All opinions are my own.

I've long admired Gay Hendricks' books, so I eagerly read YOUR BIG LEAP YEAR, expecting his unique blend of intelligent, compassionate, and inspiring work. This book delivers all of that -- and then some -- in pithy, very doable and easy steps from considering to actually changing. I pondered each day's thoughts on long walks and returned feeling clear and motivated to step into my future joy. It works -- this wise and wonderful guide is one I will recommend far and wide. I received a copy of this book and these opinions are my own, unbiased thoughts.

I loved this title for its daily motivating tidbits. I found it A LOT easier to put the advice into practice with an accountability buddy, and/or someone I could talk to about my feelings. That way I felt like I was actually processing, learning and growing instead of simply marking off my leap for the day.

This is an easy, approachable way to level up your life!

Your Big Leap Year is a daily guide based off of The Big Leap. It uses all the same terminology (ULP, genius zone, etc,). and suffers from the same issues The Big Leap does (pseudoscience, toxic positivity, etc). Some of the prompts and affirmations are therefore not helpful at all (eg. Day 18: "I commit to feeling good all the time", with Hendricks claiming that this affirmation/commitment has mostly kept him from illness and injury for more than 30 years). Some of the questions and prompts would make for decent daily journaling and introspection. Overall, I think this would be best for people who have read The Big Leap and enjoy those types of self-help (The Secret, Eckhart Tolle, etc).

This book is unlike many 365 day readers, goes much deeper as it slowly builds towards planning a life change. This book is one readers need at their sides, a daily companion to finally reach their goals.

An interesting and thought provoking presentation about how to focus and/or refocus life in challenging times.

Although I loved the Big Leap book and I like Gay Hendricks, this one didn't really work for me.
The information is very repetitive and superficial. The days are very much the same.
I was hoping for more.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this book!

This is a nice day-by-day guide that gives tips and prompts to support creating your dream life over the course of a year. Since this is an ARC to review, I haven't done all the daily exercises yet but after reading through the book I'll look forward to going back and being able to do them. If you're already familiar with The Big Leap book you'll find familiar ideas here.

Having read and been impacted by Gay Hendricks’ The Big Leap when it was released, I was quite interested in this 366 day companion book. Your Big Leap Year is a daily, actionable review of the lessons and concepts explored in The Big Leap. Inspiring and challenging, it is an essential guide for anyone looking to improve their lives. You’ll learn how to overcome self imposed limitations by actively engaging mind, thoughts, and attitude to achieve the happy, thrilling, meaningful life that you and I crave.
