This is the first book in the Big Shots series and this is honestly now in my top favorite Tessa Bailey books I have read and I can’t wait to read the next books in the series. This was also my first golf romance and I cannot get over how OBSESSED I am with this book! I loved everything about this and ATE it up so fast! It was funny, sweet, and deliciously spicy. HIGHLY highly recommend you pick this up! I laughed out loud, swooned, cried - basically felt all of the feels. AND the banter?!? It was beyond perfect *chefs kiss 💋* Wells and Josephine are seriously the cutest, and I cannot get over the romcom magic that this book was.
Wells Whitaker is a golfer who has lost his love for the sport and has been on a slow decline for a while, losing game after game. He was basically at his lowest, not only did he keep losing tournaments but he also lost his sponsorships, his mentor AND his fans - well all his fans but Josephine Doyle his number one fan. Like Wells, Josephine was also down on her luck, struggling with her health, being on the verge of losing her families pro shop and was financially drowning. Despite Wells being a 🍆 to everyone…her included she still continued to show up for him and cheer him on even if he didn’t think he deserved it.
“There are people who still believe in you” she said. “Really? Where? All I see if you” he said. “I’ll stay here until everyone comes back” she said.
Until one day he had enough and he quit; she had no other choice but to give up on him, but that did not sit well for him and he decided to strike a deal with Josephine that she could not refuse. Now Josephine found herself being Well’s caddie to help him get back to the big leagues. Josephine helped Wells slowly start to believe in himself and helped him through his darkest times. Wells was so miserable that Josephine showed him how far he had fallen by simply continuing to show up for him as long as he didn’t give up on himself again and that was an alien concept for him. They very quickly became the power team on the course. She challenged him on and off the course and called him on his 💩 when he deserved it - I absolutely loved that! Both of them had amazing growth through this book individually but also together and I could not get enough, I did not want this to end! Hope you enjoy it just as much as I did!
Thank you to NetGalley, Avon and Harper Voyager for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book! I devoured it. I have been enjoying more and more sports romances. However, this was my first golf romance. I loved the characters so much. Josephine is such a like able main character. I loved her unwavering devotion to Wells and his success. I also haven’t read another book with type 1 diabetes representation. It really helped me understand it more to see how Josephine dealt with it. I had no idea how expensive it could be. The romance and chemistry between Wells and Josephine is fantastic! Obsessed with it all!
Thank you to NetGalley for an arc

I loved this book. It was my first Tessa Bailey book and I'm so excited to read her other books now. The banter in this book between Josephine and Wells was fantastic. I also loved that Tessa Bailey made me care about golf, which I've literally never cared about before. She made golf at least slightly interesting (I can't give her more than that, it's still boring). I really liked the pacing of this, although it did seem like they got together pretty fast but that was fine to me. I liked that Josephine had something else that she was interested in and it wasn't like she immediately dumped everything just to work with Wells. Overall, I liked this and I will be reading more Tessa Bailey sports romances.

I didn't like the first few chapters but this grew on my fast! I failed to read the blurb and assumed this was a football romance with 'down' being in the title, the golf element pleasantly surprised me!
Wells is such a gooey bean for Josephine and I love their story. Can't wait to hop into book 2!

Cute, easy, romance book. Nothing too crazy, lots of spice, too perfect ending, but I guess that's what some of us need these days.

A golf romance had not been on my 2024 bingo card but i'm very glad that I read this. Tess Bailey is incredible at writing a good, cozy., quick romance read so this story was easily devored in two days.

Tessa Bailey never disappoints. Wells and Josephine are such a fun couple and I enjoyed watching them come together and fight/play/love through their issues. I can’t wait for the next in this series!

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books for an ARC of this book in exchange for and honest review.
I LOVED this book so much. When grumpy has-been golfer Wells Whitaker disappoints his biggest (and possibly only) fan, he surprises himself when he vows to win it all if she agrees to become his caddy. Following Wells and his ‘Belle’ through their determination to get back on top was so so much fun! I loved this book so much that I bought a physical copy to keep on my shelf!

This book just wasn’t for me. I felt like the pacing was a little too slow and I never found myself eager to pick the book back up. It wasn’t the writing that I didn’t care for but the development of the story.

Thank you @avonbooks @netgalley for the review copy!
📖 Josephine’s family golf shop has been damaged in a natural disaster. To get the money to fix it, she agrees to caddy for Wells, a grumpy and struggling golf pro. As his number one fan, she’s determined to help him get his game back.
💭 I thought this was an entertaining read. I haven’t read a golf romance before, so that was a fun aspect of it. I also liked that Josephine was a strong FMC and that she was trying to prove to everyone that she can take care of herself. I liked that the book was spicy, but some of the dirty talk was a little corny for me. I also liked that he fell first, but some of his inner dialogue annoyed me. Overall though, I enjoyed it.

I love how easy it always is reading a Tessa Bailey book. The writing just flows so seamlessly and you get the vibe of the story right off the bat. I loved how this book started. I loved the characters from the start and was ready to learn more about their backgrounds and how their story will entwine eventually. However, same with my experience in reading Bailey's past books, I started losing interest right after the middle mark just because I felt like everything was becoming generic again and predictable at that point on til the end. I would still recommend it though, if you're looking for your very first Bailey book amongst her others.

This book had a lot of potential and was enjoyable in the beginning. The plot soon started to fade and then the awkward cringe began.

As always, Bailey's signature wit shines through in every interaction, and her knack for writing steamy yet heartfelt romance is unparalleled. The dynamic between the characters is electric, with banter that feels natural and moments of vulnerability that tug at the heartstrings.
One of the standout aspects of this novel is how Bailey explores themes of self-discovery and self-worth. Fangirl Down isn’t just a love story; it’s a journey of growth for the protagonist, making the romance even more rewarding.
Bailey also excels in creating a vibrant, immersive world. Whether it's the glitz of the celebrity lifestyle or the quirky charm of the protagonist's everyday life, every scene is vividly detailed, pulling readers deeper into the story.
Overall, Fangirl Down is a must-read for fans of contemporary romance. Tessa Bailey delivers a perfect balance of humor, heart, and heat that will leave readers swooning and smiling long after the last page. Highly recommended!

Tessa Bailey is my go to when I need a little spice and Fangirl Down did not disappoint!! Not to mention it was one of my favorite tropes- Grumpy/Sunshine! If only all golf was this good - I may actually watch it with my husband & Thank you @netgalley and @harperaudio for the ALC!

I dont really care about golf and it's not my sports romance of choice but I did like this story and the two leads. It was funny, steamy and set up for the next in the series. I liked it more than most Tessa Bailey books honestly, felt like the leads were better drawn

There is not a book by Tessa Bailey that I will not read, not a single one. That said, my love for Tessa expressed, I did not love this book with capital letters, but I still really liked it. I've gotta be honest, it's the golf aspect that I didn't really like all that much.

I already knew I liked Tessa Bailey, so I was looking forward to this release. She writes great, lighthearted, silly romances. I enjoyed Fangirl Down, and I loved that Josephine is a fangirl, it was so fun.

Forever have a spot in my heart for these two golf nerds! The way Wells was willing to help Josephine with her family's damaged shop and also help monitor her T1D? Precious! Bailey also knows how to truly write lovable protagonists and Josephine was no exception. I loved her bubbly spirit, strength, and her positivity! Wells was also such a delight as an mmc with his grumpy brooding that shelters a big heart who wants to help others out. The banter and the spice was also very, very delicious!

Note: I work for the publisher. This is quintessential Tessa Bailey. Fun, flirty, delightful, and true escapism.
