Note: I work for the publisher. This is quintessential Tessa Bailey. Fun, flirty, delightful, and true escapism.
I absolutely loved this book. The way the character development continued to evolve throughout the story was perfect! Once I started reading "Fan Girl Down" I literally could not put it down (I tried i really did). I can't wait till I can read more from Tessa
Loved the romance in this book! Tessa Bailey is just one of those authors that really stand out to me!
“I love you, too. So much. I think deep down, I had faith we’d be together again, because love like ours doesn’t just go away. It cuts clean through everything. It’s start-to-finish kind of love, all right? You know it and I know it.”
Josephine and Wells. He’s a professional golfer and she’s his number 1 fan. He hasn’t been golfing well especially with his attitude. And her family’s golf shop got damaged from a hurricane and all the insurance money went towards her diabetes. So he decided to hire her as his caddie to help rebuild the shop while she helps him resurrect his career.

Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey is a delightful sports romance that combines humor, heart, and a touch of grumpy-sunshine dynamics. This novel follows Josephine Doyle, a devoted fangirl of professional golfer Wells Whitaker, as she becomes his caddy and helps him reclaim his career.
What I Loved:
Character Chemistry: The chemistry between Josephine and Wells is electric. Their interactions are filled with witty banter and genuine emotion, making their romance both fun and heartfelt.
Humor and Heart: Bailey’s signature humor shines through, providing plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. The story balances these lighthearted scenes with deeper emotional beats, creating a well-rounded narrative.
Unique Premise: The idea of a fangirl becoming the caddy for her favorite golfer adds a fresh twist to the sports romance genre. The backdrop of professional golf and the challenges they face together make for an engaging and entertaining read.
Overall, Fangirl Down is a charming and spirited romance that will leave you smiling. Tessa Bailey delivers a story full of love, laughter, and sports magic, making it a perfect read for fans of contemporary romance.

This is grumpy-sunshine at it's finest! Wells, down on his luck, needing to turn his careen (and attitude) around, finds his biggest fan, Josephine and proposes that she come be his caddy. As they go on tour together, spending countless hours in each other's company, Wells begins to realize how much he underestimated his greatest supporter, and just how amazing she really is.
This is a cute romance with it's spicy moments. In theme of sports, I was cheering these two on from the beginning!
Wells and Josephine are a perfect grumpy/sunshine couple. I have not usually been a sports romance reader, but this series has gotten me into them a little more. I enjoyed this book, but I didn't love the diabetes representation. As I am someone with diabetes, it felt like the disease was played up to be hugely dramatic, instead of every day part of someone's life. Wells definitely babies Josephine about her diabetes, which explicitly asks him not to do. It took up so much of the story. That said, I enjoyed this book and I liked the story flow. Tessa Bailey will remain one of my top favorite romance authors.
I love Tessa Bailey and I was looking forward to reading this! It was fun and entertaining. I loved the type 1 diabetes representation. Just pure entertainment. Don't think too hard about plot or character development or anything like that.
4.5 stars!!!
Recently I’ve been struggling with Tessa Bailey books not meeting expectations, but this book finally hit the mark for me. Wells and Josephine are a great example of Grumpy/Sunshine done right! This couple stole my heart in so many ways ❤️, especially Wells. I love a grumpy M/C, but so many can be overdone and come off as mean. Wells was anything but! Yes, he was rough around the edges, but a true sweetheart through and through. I loved how he was a pure angel to Josephine who really needed the right guy to love her and not treat her as weak because of her condition. The dirty talk was GREAT! It was the perfect amount without being overly cringy which can be the case with books that have dirty talk.
On to Josephine. She was was a true delight as well. Not childish with no over reacting, and all the things I look for and love in a F/MC. She was so sweet and amazing, yet tough as nails all at the same time. She was strong independent and knew what she wanted without letting anyone get in her way. True girl power.
I loved this one! So many great scenes I lost track. So why not a full 5 stars you may ask?? The honest answer is the last end of the book felt like it dragged a bit for me. The decision if Josephine was going to continue to stay on as Wells caddie or return to her family business dragged for me a bit too much. It went full force then lost a bit of steam toward the end. It still had a great finish and I definitely recommend this one regardless of that. It was such a great swoon worthy romance in so many ways!!! Thanks to @netgalley for this #arc in exchange for my honest review.
There aren't enough sports books that focus on golf. And for that I am thankful. Such an underrated sport. And yes, it is a sport.
"And no one gets close to my caddie but me. Stay beside me out there, Josephine." What a quote!
But like, and this may sound harsh, but did she really have to eat his ass? It was quite traumatizing, and not everyone is into that kind of thing. Just.. weird. I don't know.
All in all this was a three star.
Thank you Avon, Tessa Bailey, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my review.
I am always excited to get a Tessa Bailey arc and this one was no different. Have I ever read a book about golf before? Nope. But am I glad that I finally did? Absolutely! My boyfriend loves golf so I got to talk to him about it while reading which was exciting for me too!
Poor Josephine is chasing a professional golfer whose career is failing and failing hard. She’s got to be one of Wells’ last fans and he’s on the verge of giving up, and then he finally does. Until there’s a hurricane where Josephine is from and Wells can’t help but to find her and try to help. They find themselves in an agreement that could easily change both of their lives.
Wells love for Josephine was so fun to read about. The “I don’t care about anything” attitude that Wells typically displays disappears when Josephine is around and she’s able to open herself up more through it all too. I’m so thankful to have received this arc and I can’t wait to read more of the series! I highly recommend this one!
Who knew you could like a romance about golf?! Not me. But turns out, I do! I’n true Tessa Bailey fashion- a grumpy MMC and a badass FMC got me again.
Wells is a professional golfer whose career started out amazing but it’s kind of gone down hill rather quickly. Josephine is his biggest fan. Following an unfortunate series of events, Josephine becomes his caddy and helps him turn his game around.
I love the fact that these two meet because Josephine was his number one fan. But she isn’t just a fan girl. She’s actually an incredibly knowledgeable golf professional and instructor herself.
Grumpy men are my favorite and I love when they find the one person who can get under that exterior and they fall in love. This one made me chuckle and had all of the usual Tessa steam that I love. Will recommend.
I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.
This book was such a good read I love any and everything by Tessa and this was no different super cute, fun read
Fun, fast, and steamy read— just what I want from a Tessa Bailey romance! I also enjoyed the T1D rep. It was a very refreshing take on the chronic illness rep (despite being a very authentic and therefore true one).
Tessa Bailey’s latest offering is a delightful blend of humor and steamy romance, featuring a charmingly flawed protagonist in Wells and his unwavering supporter, Josephine. Their dynamic is fun and engaging, with plenty of witty banter that keeps the story lively. The slow burn of their relationship as they navigate the ups and downs of golf and personal challenges is both sweet and satisfying. However, at times, the plot felt a bit predictable, and I would have loved to see more depth in their individual character arcs.
No. Just no. Tessa Bailey books continuously let me down. There's one scene that I found particularly uncomfortable; if you know, you know. I know sports romances are very "in" right now, but this just didn't do it for me. All the characters are either toxic or underdeveloped. I won't be reading another book from this series.
I love all of Tessa Baileys books. I hate to say I really hated this book
The banter was on point, and it was a very funny read.
Where it goes wrong has to do with the characters. Wells is very toxic, possessive and grumpy. Josephine was the only one who contributed emotionally to the relationship and he held a very unhealthy power dynamic over her. He was the bad side of masculine and really just a very bad character to like.
Josephine was a nice character but all that she talked about was her health struggles, which although so valid became her whole personality besides her sexual obsession with sports players. Josephine was a fangirl and practically used sex as a tool to be with Wells and he used her purely for it. The smut was also so cringe worthy.
I just really did not enjoy this mainly because it really felt like a majorly toxic and unhealthy relationship glorified.
