Listen I love Tessa Bailey and I love sports romance so I knew I was going to have a blast reading this book. I knew that this was going to be a book I loved no matter what and I did i really loved this book. The spice was amazing the romance was cute and fluffy and I enjoyed every second of it. My only complaint is that it's about golf. Everytime golf was mentioned it just pulled me so far out of book that I had to take a breath. If this book was about any other sport I probably would have loved every second of it but the gold aspect just was not connecting with me.

Overall this is a 3.75 because I did love the book just the golf aspect was jarring.

When professional golfer, Wells Whitaker, meets his ultimate fangirl...he is not so thrilled with her constant support until a hurricane decimates her family's Pro shop. Josephine has no idea what she is going to do! Her shop is wrecked, and she didn't renew her flood insurance because she needed her TD1 insulin in order to live. Wells makes her a deal, she can become his new caddy, and he will try his hardest to land in the money so she can rebuild her dream shop. Neither think their attraction to each other will get in the way--until it does.

I really appreciated having representation for TD1 in Tessa Bailey books. I thought it really brought a sense of urgency and hard decision making that a lot of people must make nowadays in order to survive. That being said...this was not my favorite book of hers. This book was cute for what it was, but golf is not my thing, and no matter of sexy glances would improve it. The plot was a little slower for me in parts which caused me to have a harder time finishing this book. Also, insta-love isn't my cup of tea. Some people may disagree that it was instant love since Jo had been a fan girl for a long time, but it was way too quick for anything else once they had a conversation off the golf course. Not to mention, you meet the love interests for the next book, and it seems like our hockey player is also suffering from instant love.

I did enjoy some more spicy sections of the sex scenes and the epilogue (which was so sweet).

Overall, if you're looking for a quick read and don't mind golf then you're in for a nice read.

My thanks to Netgalley and Harper Voyager/Avon for this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I never thought I would say to my husband, my current read is a golf romance. That, however, is exactly what I said to him while we were mini golfing yesterday. The whole time I was thinking about Josephine and Wells and their unconventional Grumpy Sunshine romance. Josephine was a golf enthusiast and Wells Whitaker #1 SuperFan, or Wells' Belle. Wells is a pro golfer who was once a brilliant athlete, but has been declining in his skill and demonstrating a strong temper that gets him in trouble on and off the green. When tragedy strike Josephine, Wells hires her as his caddy, and the romance rolls from there.

This story has a lot of humor and also deals with a lot of serious topics, such as Type 1 Diabetes, Abandonment issues, and individual trauma and triggers for both characters. I thought these topics were handled well and added depth to the characters in the story. The spice is what one expects from the queen of dirty talk, Tessa Bailey. There was also a spicy scene that 100% surprised me, and Wells i think (IYKYK).

I went back and forth between reading the ebook and listening to the audiobook, narrated by Callie Dalton. Callie Dalton did an excellent job of differentiating the characters, adding humor and emotion to the performance and really bringing the story to life. The book is written in 3rd person, and I generally prefer to eyeball read books written in 3rd person. In this instance both modalities work for the story.

I received a galley of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily give my honest review.

4.5 stars. Tessa Bailey’s latest was so freaking cute I just couldn’t get enough. And as a sports loving girl, Fangirl Down, was right up my alley!

This book has so many of my favorite tropes all wrapped into one- grumpy / sunshine, forced proximity, sports romance. Although golf is not my thing, I was hooked from page one.

Wells is a professional golfer who has not been playing his best & his antics have caused a stir off the course. He is self destructing and he wants to quit. Except his biggest, and only fan, Josephine won’t let him. Financial issues lead him to hire her as his caddy. And she’s determined to help him get his game back. Perfect balance of spice & romance. Loved it!

Josephine has always been golfer Wells Whitaker's biggest fan. Through ups and downs in play, inclement weather, and more than one of his temper tantrums, she's always been there with a smile and a sign. But after a brutal losing streak he pushes her away with vitriol, and she leaves for good. So when he turns up on her doorstep begging her to be his caddie, she is flabbergasted. But with the two working together, he finally seems to get his golf groove back, and things start to heat up off the green.

Guys. Golf was the sports romance sport I didn't know I needed in my life. I'm not sure I've ever seen another one, but now I want them all--though I doubt they could hold a candle to Bailey. This unique spin on a sports romance, with the relationship between a golfer and a caddy... too perfect for words. I am sure this will be one of my favorite romances of the year. No complaints.

Thanks to Avon for my eARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

5 stars - 10/10

Not going to lie but Golf is probably my least favorite sport in existence and yet Tessa did such a good job on this that I didn’t even care what sport they were playing. It was entertaining and well written. Loved it:) Think I might just need the paperback too. Would recommend!

Wow, this book is very spicy so buyer beware! It felt a bit repetitive in terms of the issues the main characters face however, the chemistry between the two is off the charts. And now I'm invested in the BFF and the Hockey Player Bro.

I think this is my favorite Tessa Bailey story. I loved how they had a history. Not a romantic one. Wells is at rock bottom and the only one that believes in him is Josephine, his fan girl. She has been loyal up until his very public demise. And she doesn't quit on him, he does. Things start to turn around when he hires her for his caddy and is determined to help her. But she HATES feeling like a charity case. So rules are set. He doesn't treat her like charity and she helps him turn his game around.

It is FULL of spice, amazing, swoony moments and such growth with both people. LOVED it. Just so much.

CW: Lots of swears-open door scenes.

Love, love, love Tessa Bailey. I was hesitant because I could truly care less about golf, but in true Tessa Bailey form, the chemistry shined through. I wish Wells was a little more likable earlier on in the book, but it made the wait worth it,

This book is just fun. Tessa Bailey knows how to write a perfect male main character and she even had me liking a golfer - never thought I'd say those words. I think this is the perfect book to read quickly and laugh a lot.

Tessa Bailey is always an author I will read. She knows how to create the perfect mix of romance and character growth. While this book isn't necessarily my favorite she has written, I still enjoyed it very much! I liked exploring the main character's strength dealing with her diabetes and how attentive the hero was to her while also not treating her with kid gloves. This was one for us fangirlies who dream of falling for our favorite celebrity! You go, girl!

FANGIRL DOWN - TESSA BAILEY

4.5⭐

PLOT
Wells Whitaker was once golfs promising star but offlately he only suffers from hangover, broken clubs and distance from his sponsers and his agent exp one redhead who is his most loyal or rather Only supporter/fan.
Josephine Doyle has always believed in grumpy Wells even when he didn't and just when Josephines life is in shambles Wells comes to her rescue with a proposal to be his new caddy , help him rebuild his career and split the prize money.
But travelling together causes sparks to fly along with Wells winning again. How long will they continue before life calls Josephine back and can a Fangirl be something more too?

MY THOUGHTS
Tessa Bailey has done it again and it's my new favourite by her. The plot revolving around golf and his caddie was fresh.
The initial moments where a normal fan has a crush on sportstar is very very relatable.
The chemistry and steam was 🔥🔥🔥
Character development esp of Wells , a bad boy who doesn't have anyone on his corner untill he sees Josephine and how he does everything to keep her happy was fantastic.
Recommend this highly esp if you enjoy grumpy vs sunshine, bad boy × good girl, forced Proximity and sports romance.
We do get a hint of book 2 featuring their best friends and can't wait for that to release.

4.5 Stars!!! I absolutely loved this book! I ate it up!! I had my doubts with it being a book about golf, but if anything, Tessa Bailey made me actually find golf interesting! The romance in this was just amazing! The way Wells was just down bad really sold it to me! I really am a sucker for a man who would do absolutely anything for the woman he loves! Overall, this was a very quick and fun read!

Wells was one of the world’s top golfers. 3 years ago… Now he rarely makes the cut into the weekend rounds. Josephine is his only remaining fan and he even manages to alienate her on his way to quitting the tour. But once he finds out Josephine needs help and he’s in a position to provide it, he offers for Josephine to become his caddie. With her help, Wells just might be able to turn things around.

No one is more surprised than me that I was mildly obsessed with this book. My husband and his best friend are big golfers and his wife and I have been joking about the “golf smut” book that was coming out. But guys. This book was equal parts sweet and SO HOT 🥵 Their relationship progressed very fast, but it’s a smut book. Who cares?

Featuring a grumpy golf star ⛳ and his dedicated fangirl turned caddy 🏌️‍♂️, 'Fangirl Down' by Tessa Bailey swings into an engaging tale of redemption and romance! 💕 Dive into the journey of Wells Whitaker and Josephine Doyle as they navigate the highs and lows of the green together, sparks flying both on and off the course. 💥

At first glance, the sportstar-fangirl dynamic had me intrigued, but I was pleasantly surprised by how it took a backseat to Josephine's tenacity and Wells' journey to reclaim his confidence. 🌟 The romance, while giving off some insta-love vibes, had a delightful grumpy/sunshine touch, with Wells' grouchy exterior melting away to reveal a caring side. ☀️ And let's not forget the swoon-worthy moments, like Wells' adorable concern for Josephine's T1 Diabetes and the steamy scenes that Tessa Bailey is known for! 🔥

While there were a few minor hiccups that kept me from giving it full marks, overall, 'Fangirl Down' is a captivating read I'm sure fans of Tessa Bailey's work won't want to miss! 📚✨

Wells Whitaker’s golf career is stuck in a sand trap, chipped into a water hazard, making the biggest divot on the green. Ok, I’m all out of Golf terms. His career is as sunk as his attitude and all he has left is one unquestionably loyal fan girl that has stuck with him from his highest highs to his lowest lows. At least he thought he was at his lowest until he rips her homemade sign on half and breaks her heart by quitting.

Josephine Doyle is a proud fan girl for Wells Whitaker; a self proclaimed Well’s Belle. She’s no fair weather fan. She’s as loyal as they come and continues to show up to support her favorite golf player, especially when he’s in such a bad slump. She knows he can overcome it! That is until he quits in the middle of the tour after telling her to get lost and ripping her sign.

Wells can’t forget the look on Josephine’s face when he quit. She was the only positive constant in his life and he doesn’t like feeling these…feelings. Then when a storm hits where he knows her family business is located he has to find her and make things right.

When Wells shows up in her hurricane ruined golf shop and offers Josephine the opportunity to caddy for him on tour and split the winnings, she can’t turn him down. She needs the money for the shop and insulin for her diabetes.

But caddying for Wells on tour turns into so much more. She sees the vulnerable man underneath all the grumpiness and attitude and he gets the full treatment of someone actually believing in him and supporting him. They compliment each other incredibly well and the chemistry is off the charts.

The spice was spicing and the tropes were troping. The grumpy/ sunshine was *chefs kiss* perfect. Him falling first and falling hard was done well with first time love vulnerability sprinkled with just enough caveman possessiveness. The banter and trash talking was par for the course (pun intended) and Wells’ dirty talk was a hole in one. Ok, I’m really done with the golf puns now.

I never thought I’d like a sports romance when the sport was golf, but I loved it. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Bravo, Tessa Bailey. *golf claps*

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for releasing this arc to me in exchange for an honest review.

I think this might be my fav Tessa Bailey book ever! I was giggling, screaming, kicking my feet, fanning myself, and tearing up. Wells and Josephine were perfect. Wells is literally the bad boy golfer (it works ok) and Josephine is his biggest fan turned caddie.

The chemistry these two have is off the charts!! Wells is SO down bad for her and Josephine takes no crap from him. I loved her as a FMC so much. The spicy scenes were CRAZY ( the 🍑 scene will be engrained in my mind forever). Never have I felt so many emotions from a spicy scene!! Both of them realizing they loved and can trust each other was so emotional. I really feel like Josephine started as the fan girl but Wells became the fan boy😏

The type 1 diabetes rep was sooo great! Tessa Bailey’s writing in this felt so fresh and new. Overall, LOVED!

Thanks Avon books for the ARC!!

I haven’t read many sports romances, but I adored this golf romcom! Very, very spicy, but it was a fun romantic story told about a professional golfer and his new caddy.

Josephine is the #1 Wells Whitaker fan who stuck with him through the ups and downs of his golf career. But even she has her limits. He eventually realizes he made a big mistake and begs Josephine to be his caddy and she can split the prize money won with him. She desperately needs the money after she made a dumb decision with her family’s golf store and this is a quick way to afford the needed repairs. Plus it’s a chance to work with her crush Wells!

They begin to work together and it causes a commotion to have a female caddy. But as they grow closer, they can feel the chemistry between them. Josephine starts to see Wells as more than just this playboy golfer. One thing Wells doesn’t know about Josephine is that she’s not like other girls… in that she has type 1 diabetes that she has to constantly manage. He takes an interest and really learns how to help monitor with food and insulin.

This books is so spicy, but it was so genuine too. They have a real connection and Wells really matured while they were starting their relationship. When Josephine is having a medical emergency, Wells proves that he can be there for her no matter what. I’m really excited for more of this series and here’s to hoping there’s a tennis book! 🎾

Thank you @avonbooks and @tessabailey for my gifted ARC and @librofm for my gifted ALC. Fangirl Down is out now!
