Fan Girl Down by Tessa Bailey is an absolute delight! Wells, the bad boy of golf, is such a fun character to read about. His rebellious charm and unexpected depth make him a captivating hero. Watching him navigate the complexities of his career and personal life adds a refreshing twist to the usual sports romance.
Josephine, on the other hand, is incredibly sweet and easy to root for. Her genuine nature and relatable struggles make her a standout heroine. You can’t help but cheer for her as she finds her way, both in her personal aspirations and in her burgeoning relationship with Wells.
The chemistry between Wells and Josephine is electric, with plenty of sizzling moments and heartfelt interactions. Tessa Bailey does an excellent job of balancing humor, romance, and emotional depth. Their journey from strangers to lovers is filled with witty banter, touching moments, and just the right amount of drama to keep you hooked.
*Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this title. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were in no way influenced by receiving this copy.
I started this and then stopped because I couldn't get into it. So like 5 months later I started it again and the only reason I got through it was because I listened to the audiobook.
I don't think this book was bad but more so....cringey? Like who is this big golf hot shot driving around all of Florida looking for his "number one fans" golf shop because she may have been in the path of a hurricane? Also the fact that her parents had to consequences for her for loosing the insurance on the pro shop was just wild to me?? My parents would've killed me.
And their love story was just... weird. Like they fell in love over the course of 3 weeks?? I hate the instalove. And I hated the ending even more.
It was cringe and just bad. The smut was SUPER spicey and great. But at this point I'm only reading Bailey's books for the smut because the plots keep letting me down.
Super cute story with illness representation that doesn't overtake the story. I really enjoyed the dynamic between the main characters and how they both grew and developed, and I really want to learn to play golf now.
Loved this! I didn't expect to like a golf romance, but yet, here were are! Bailey can get me interested in just about any type of romance, and this proved it.
Steamy, sassy and oh so much fun! I loved this one! I loved the grumpy golf player and the sweet fan. I loved the golfing storyline (although I fully expected not to). I loved the caddy/golfer storyline. I loved the chemistry between the characters and the growth that they had! I loved it all. Can't wait for the next one in the series.
This one wasn’t for me. I didn’t connect with the plot or the characters. I actually actively disliked both of the MC’s. I also wasn’t super fond of the plot in general. I did really want to like it and give it a chance, but it was a miss for me.
"Fangirl Down" by Tessa Bailey is a fun and steamy romance about Wells, a grumpy golfer, and Josephine, his optimistic fangirl. When Wells hits rock bottom and quits golf, he realizes he needs Josephine to help him make a comeback. She becomes his caddy, and their road trips lead to a blossoming romance full of witty banter and sweet moments. With themes of self-belief and partnership, plus some serious chemistry, this book is a delightful read for romance fans.
Tessa Bailey is an autobuy author for me. I knew i had to have this one the minute I saw it. I have not read very many golf romances with this bein my second. I think I need to read more. This one was so funny and spicy. I loved the romance and the story. I loved the depiction of type 1 diabetes. I have type 2 but type 1 is in my family too. It was so real. I do love a grumpy sunshine trope. Josephine is just so funny and sweet. Wells is our grumpy brooding golfer with a heart of gold. I love getting to see his heart come out. The writing was spectacular and fun. The story kept me interested the whole time. I did not want to put the book down. I am so happy I have book two. I need to read it right away. Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. I could not put this book down! I loved the characters, wanted to cheer for them and just loved the overall plot of this book! And then to fast forward 8 years in the Epilogue!! Love love. Can't wait for more in the series.
Tessa somehow managed to make even GOLF sexy. The sport that I'd never given a second thought, and now can't stop thinking about. I should know by now to never doubt her talent. Wells was seriously the grumpiest little simp and I loved it SO MUCH. He quite literally became her fangirl for life.
I usually love Tessa Bailey, but I was unable to like this book. I wasn't a fan of either main character which made it an extremely difficult read. I'm hoping the second book in the series is different.
Again, I am having trouble and problems with the toxic traits exemplified by Tessa's leading men in her books. I was able to ignore it easier this time around, but I'm still not a fan of it because it is still there. I'm not the type of romance reader to like men that fall onto the side of toxic masculinity, so it's hard for me to truly like these books even when the plot-line (sports!) is more interesting to me. Maybe I just ignored the men's personalities in the Bellinger sisters, but I don't remember them being this bad. Wells is certainly out of touch even to Josephine, and the power dynamics of this relationship alone were questionable because she's a fangirl. His mental health was also handled poorly, so I just found a lot of red flags and issues within this book. The sex was certainly not a winning point either, which is typically a saving moment for Tessa's books.
I think this is officially me signing off from reading Tessa's books.
Another masterpiece by tessa bailey! Another amazing sports romance by such an amazing author! She continues to write amazing books and i cant wait to see what comes next.
Tessa Bailey does it again! Perfect for a Summer read while on the green, or sitting by the pool. A easy streamy sports romance where the fangirl becomes even more famous than her steamy athlete who knows how to use his 9 iron ';)
Normally I love Tessa Bailey, but her newer releases have been a bit disappointing. This was no exception. Character development is thin, the dynamic is a bit weird, as is the concept. Ended up being a DNF around the 20% mark.
This authors stories never fail. I was happy to meet her this year. All her characters jump up at you.
I normally love Tessa Bailey, but this one just wasn't for me. The power dynamics - not just the caddy/golfer dynamic, but the fangirl/object of affection side - just made it a bit strange. The character development was poor, and there was very little detail about the sport in this sports romance for my taste. You could pull the golf out of this, and the story would still be there in it's entirety. I will try the next in the series because I trust Tessa Bailey (and I love a good nanny romance), but this one was a miss for me.
I loved this spicy romantic comedy from Tessa Bailey. She knows how to write a romance novel that hooks readers at the start and keeps them coming back for more. First I will say that I was a bit skeptical that this book revolves around a golf superstar, Wells Whitaker, and his number one fangirl, Josephine, who also happens to run a golf pro shop. I do not know the first thing about golf. And, to my pleasant surprise, I did not need to know a single thing about golf to enjoy this humorous, romantic romp. It was fresh, timely, and so fun to read! This is the first in a 2 book series and I can't wait to get my hands on the second book.
I received this book for free for an honest review from netgalley. Thank you for the opportunity
I love this author so much and this book was incredible.
Thank you for the opportunity to review - was hoping for more depth and development prior to the characters jumping in, but this was definitely creative.
