I devoured this book in a single day. Tessa Bailey is a constant in my reading list, and I've eagerly awaited this book since she first teased the idea on TikTok. The premise is simultaneously preposterous and perfect, reminiscent of when I was infatuated with a soap opera actor, convinced he'd like me if we ever met.

The spiciness is oh-so-nice, and I appreciate how Bailey brings awareness to type one diabetes. It significantly enhanced my understanding of my friend's pump and monitoring. Tessa's thoughtful portrayal reflects the special place this holds for her.

I received an advanced reader's copy via NetGalley, and I'm grateful to them. All thoughts and opinions expressed are entirely my own.

This was hands down, my favorite Tessa Bailey romance (and I’ve read A LOT of them). This book follows a washed up golfer and his biggest fan. Josephine is Wells’ fan through every win and more important through every loss. When all his other business contacts have abandoned him, she stays and it’s her loyalty that spurs him to try again. After a hurricane floods Josephine’s golf shop, Wells offers her a position as his caddy and the money that comes with it to make the necessary repairs. If he can make a comeback, he can help her rebuild the thing she loves most and earn her respect in the process.

I am head over heels obsessed with this book. It was everything I look for in a romance and more. Wells doesn’t just love Josephine, he values her as an equal. He fears for her safety and wants to protect her, but never babies her. He supports her but lets her stand on her own two feet. In return, she does the same for him. Josephine is his lighthouse in every storm but never makes him feel like he can’t succeed without her. She encourages him to make positive changes for himself and to find the love her once had for his sport. Also the dirty talk was off the charts. I’m obsessed and I literally can’t wait for the next book in this series. A single dad hockey romance? Sign me the fuck up!

What an absolute delight of a story, it was by far my favorite Tessa Bailey book that I have read in quite some time. It’s hilarious, charming, sexy, and I devoured this read. I was so excited to receive this advanced reader copy and can’t wait for Tallulah’s story as well.

Classic Tessa Bailey romance book - very happy to see she's gotten into more trend of sports romance books. I like that it's golf too - different sport than others flooding the market.

I woefully underestimated how much I was going to love this, which became exceedingly obvious when I started flying through the pages. I ADORED the gruff and grumbly hero, who is so used to people giving up on him that he assumes his last remaining fan will do so as well. My heart hurt for the man he tried to hide behind his intimidating demeanor, and I loved watching him slowly reveal his true self. He is SUCH a sweetheart underneath all that grumble, and also intensely loving with his girl. The banter and playfulness paired perfectly with the plentiful hot and spicy moments, which dialed up the chemistry another notch. The forced proximity and team component made the story richer, and I loved watching these two come to realize how right they are for each other. The sunshine heroine has the loyalty and strength that our hurting hero needs in his life, and watching him bask in that light was so fun to read. It's EASILY one of my new favorites from Bailey, and a fresh, original read. I loved it a whole lot.

The story follows Wells, a professional golfer who is ready to give up the game at only 29. He once had a reputation as one of the best, but Wells' game has crumbled over the last few years, as everyone who once stood by his side has moved on to newer, shinier players. All except for one woman, his biggest fangirl. Josephine (27) has been cheering Wells on for the last several years because she understands what amazing talent he has, and she's not going to give up on him just because he's hit a rough patch. Though Wells is ready to give up on himself and is surlier than ever, the bad boy of golf shows a softer side when he realizes that Josephine could use some support herself. Soon after, Wells insists that Josephine become his new caddie and join him on tour - a decision he couldn't have predicted would change everything for them. Because once Wells gets to know Josephine as more than the girl on the sidelines, he realizes there's no way he's going to let her go.

This has such a unique premise that I really wasn't sure what to expect from it, so I went in with a level of hesitation - which quickly left the building. Josephine isn't some puck bunny or celebrity chaser, she's simply a woman who appreciates Wells' talent. I loved that they only knew the surface level pieces, which meant they got to know each other in a whole new way. There's the richness of their history but also the brand new chemistry, which takes no time to catch fire. Once Wells becomes smitten, he is a man obsessed, and I loved his over-the-top adoration of all things Josephine. Josephine was pretty great too, and it's clear that she's a heroine who is close to Bailey's heart, as she has Type 1 Diabetes like her real-life daughter. That adds an extra layer of depth and intimacy to the story, and I thought it was a fantastic component. The story is playful and SUPER spicy, but there's an undercurrent of something deeper running throughout. It was so very easy to binge and might just be my new favorite from the author. There was zero question that it was getting 5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

I would recommend if you're looking for (SPOILERS)
-m/f contemporary romacne
-sports romance
-forced proximity
-forbidden relationship elements
-hate everyone but you
-bathtub and 🍑 obsession
-Type 1 Diabetes rep

Wells is a down on his luck golfplayer while Josephine is his biggest (and only at this point) fan girl. But when he's especailly a jerk to her, and Josephine has to deal with her own troubles, he decides to help her, even if that means going out on the tour he thought he had left behind.

I loved their dynamic. Grumpy, surly hate the entire world and soft Josephine who wants the world to see her and not her Diabetes daignosis. Showing that sometimes you just need to believe in you, despite what the world is shouting. I adored how Wells just fell fast and hard, not even realizing how soft he got but making sure josephine was taking care of her without being too much. Josephine was just strong, snarky and indpendent and doing what she can to take care of their family.

The steam, the bathtubs, the 🍑, was just another great level as these two figured out how to tell each other how they felt. And I loved the hints we got for the next book in the series.

I give this a 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. When I first saw a sports romance book by Tessa Bailey I knew I had to read it. In the past Tessa Bailey has been hit or miss. There are some of her books that I absolutely adore and others that are just okay. This one is one of her better books and I think people who want a book that is similar style to some of her best will really enjoy this book. While I have read a ton of sports romance this was my first golf book. I loved that aspect and how there are now more sports being included in romance books. The golf aspect of this book was great. It seemed accurate (at least from what I know of golf). I thought it was the perfect amount of golf, and romance. This book is also inclusive when it comes to the FMC having type 1 Diabetes. I thought this was very well done as well. The book was not centered around it, but it was mentioned like I imagine someone with diabetes would mention/focus on it. The two MCs, Josephine and Wells were great together. There was some tension, fun banter, and with all TB books some great spice. The reasons this was not a five star read for me was because I am not a huge fan of books written in third person, some parts made me want to skim to get to the better parts, and it was a bit to insta love for me. That being said it was a solid book. I am so glad I read it and will be waiting for the next book in the series to come out. The little sneak peek we got of the characters make it seem like it'll be a good one.

Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey delivers a delightful and fun-filled romance centered around Wells, a grumpy golfer seeking redemption, and Josephine, his devoted fan turned caddy. The dynamic between them, filled with sparks and genuine connection, drives the story, showcasing not only a budding romance but also Josephine’s pursuit of her dreams beyond their shared journey. Bailey’s clever incorporation of golf expertise and the endearing evolution of Wells and Josephine’s relationship make this a thoroughly enjoyable read, topped off with a satisfying glimpse into their future in the epilogue. Fangirl Down is a heartwarming and entertaining romance that offers both sports enthusiasm and a charming love story.

My god, Fangirl Down was equally hot 🥵 and adorable, and I’m still SCREAMING at how perfect this was! Tessa always writes a knockout, but this brought me the same amount of joy as the Bellinger Sisters did! I can’t wait for the sequel now, so keep the sweet and spicy coming Tessa 🔥❤️

Josephine may be one of my favoring FMC ever. She’s a badass athlete, resilient with all obstacles thrown at her, incredibly strong, and a fantastic representation of a woman with T1D. Plus, she’s a total hottie, and basically I want to be her!

Wells is the perfect combination of grumpy and sweet. Yes, he’s flawed, but his background story is one that makes you want to give him a hug and lift him up. I’m so proud of his growth throughout the novel and loved cheering him on.

Read if you love:
❤️He falls first
🌤Grumpy x sunshine
⛳️Sports romance
💕Strong FMC
🩺T1D representation
🌶Hot spice!

This is like my 20th Tessa book this year and I was so so excited to get approved of this one!

Read this book if...
you are sporty spice
are a sucker for he falls first
think golf is underrated (& sexy)
like touch her and die vibes lol

This is top tier grumpyxsunshine, along with a bad boy romance. And it has the typical Tessa Bailey dirty talk we all know and love.

This one is out in February and I highly highly recommend. I mean I would read Tessa's grocery list so...

A golf romance! It was so good to read a book that is not about hockey (which I still love, of course) or football! I admit I had 0 idea about golf before reading this book so I had to google a lot of terms but now I feel so educated. It’s amazing how I love reading about sports but watching or practicing them sounds like a punishment for me 😂.

Josephine Doyle! New book girlfriend! She was the BEST. Her protective and supportive attitude towards Wells made me so emotional, and her no bullshit tolerance was the coolest. Defending you in front of people and calling you out behind doors later is one of the best dynamics. As for Wells, he’s not one of my fave Tessa heroes but I do love his character development. He’s a big grouch but he ends up melting and he becomes the biggest boy obsessed. He’s still a grump by the end, but the love he feels for Josephine changes something in him and I had the best time reading it. Both Josephine and Wells were extremely protective of each other and I just melted for them.

I’m very very excited for Tallulah and Burgess! I could already feel the intensity in their short exchange in this book so surely The Au Pair Affair is going to be a bumpy ride.

Rating: 4/5
Steam level: Open door, 3-4 scenes, high level of detail

ARC provided by Avon and NetGalley. Opinions are my own!

This one was so much fun! The banter & spice were top notch, as per usual Tessa Bailey. I did get bored with a few of the golf scenes & information, but the story was cute & I loved both of the main characters.

This. Book. This book reminded me of why I fell in love with Tessa Bailey as an author years ago!

Fangirl Down was such an easy read - from the pacing to the banter and the characters, I fell in love with every aspect. I LOVED that our FMC, Josephine, was a Type 1 diabetic - we need more inclusiveness and normalization of people with T1D. As someone who has many people close to them with T1D, this was SO refreshing to see in a book.

Wells Whitaker also had me blushing with the mouth on him. A broody, tattooed, jaded golf player? SIGN. ME. UP.

Fans of Tessa Bailey - you will NOT be disappointed! I can’t wait for the next book, especially after meeting Burgess and Tallulah!

Thank you, netgalley, for the ebook.
3.5

I am not a huge fan of golf, but Josephine and Wells' story is a cute one. The story drew a bit on the long side since Wells couldn't quite voice his opinion to Josephine. Feel like it could have been done without some of the extra drama.

Let me tell you- I’m fangirling over here for another INCREDIBLE book by Tessa.!! She writes so beautifully and with such a rawness and intensity that you literally feel in the moment with each character. This book was just great! Wells is a down and out golfer who just needed someone to believe in him and be present Josephine was a perfect match for him and their story is intense and emotionally rewarding. Highly recommend. You can never go wrong with a Tessa book

Wells is a professional golfer who has fallen from his star status. Josephine is the fan who has never given up on him…until the day he quits on her. When Wells realizes the mistake he made, he’ll do anything to get Josephine to believe in him again, including giving her the chance of a lifetime to caddy for him on tour.

It’s no secret to anyone who knows me how much I love Tessa Bailey. Her combination of wit and spice is the exact balance that works for me, and keeps me coming back every single time. Fangirl Down was no exception!

Wells and Josephine were the perfect balance to each other. Grumpy and sunshine at their best. The chemistry between them was great. I really loved how Wells grew to trust and believe in himself the more that she believed in him. And based on the introduction of other characters, I cannot wait for what’s to come in the next book

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for an advanced copy of this book!

Wow! I think this is hands down my favorite book by Tessa Bailey and I have read most of them but something about this one immediately felt different. The characters were so endearing and real to me. It’s a special book and I really loved everything about it.

Wells Whitaker is a surly ass hole professional golfer who has pissed off just about everyone on the PGA Tour. He has one loyal remaining fan left, Josephine Doyle. After a bad round of golf he snaps at her, tears up her fan girl sign and basically gives up golf. A few weeks later a massive hurricane hits Palm Beach, where Josephine lives and runs her family’s pro shop. Wells knows that is where she lives and wakes up after a night of heavy drinking with a nagging worry over her. He has to know that she is ok so he drives up from Miami to check in on her. The pro shop is ruined and her insurance won’t cover the damage. Feeling guilty for how he treated her he offers her the money to rebuild but she won’t take his money, so he offers her a job as his caddy, only problem is that he isn’t on the tour anymore. After pulling some strings he gets his spot back and they cause quite a sensation. At a golf tournament in Texas, sparks fly between the pair and Josephine proves to be a valuable asset with her golf knowledge and insight. With a beautiful female and a surprising comeback, the media can’t get enough! Wells is a grumpy jerk to everyone but he is putty for Josephine. He can’t get enough of her sunshine and it’s magnificent. I’m trash for this trope so I smiled the whole time I was reading it. They breakdown each others walls and give each other what they each need. In his case it’s her never ending loyalty and belief in him and for her it’s how he doesn’t treat her with kid gloves. They become a team and their love for each other is so sweet! He is so far gone for her early on in the book, and it being a Tessa Bailey book is hilarious and of course spicy. The HEA…omg! He’s a pro golfer so I kind of guessed how it would end early on and I was right but it brought me to tears anyway. I have a new favorite golf hero in Wells Whitaker. Definitely recommend this book!!!!
