I absolutely adore this book! I have never read anything by Tessa Bailey until now, but she's got a new fan here! Wells and Josephine were so swoon-worthy. An adorable Grumpy X Sunshine with promise for more in a sequel with Tallulah and Burgess. I can't wait to read the next!

It’s a Tessa Bailey book, why haven’t you gotten this yet? Of course it is excellent. The book is funny and touching and Hot. The characters are developed and I adore the hero and her dad’s burgeoning bestie relationship. Also I will never think about the Gladiator movie in the same way again.

Tessa Baliey is excellent at balancing heartwarming stories and spicy scenes. Wells and Jospehine's story is a can't miss.

Quintessential Bailey! Funny, engaging, and entertaining with quite a bit of spice. Features a golfer that has lost his love for the game and the one fan who still believes in him. I loved that the heroine was independent and self assured even though she is going through a challenging time. I also love that she has a chronic medical condition but it didn‘t define her or run her life. Delightful and delicious!

Move over, hockey romance, golf has entered the chat! Tessa Bailey, you've done it again. And by again, I mean pulled off the grumpy/sunshine trope, simping MMC, and spice like no one else can. Wells Whitaker is a down on his luck, bad boy of golf who falls for Josephine, his super-fan turned caddy/life coach (the power disparity inherent to that relationship is addressed immediately and often). It absolutely works!

My one critique is that I wish more had been done to incorporate therapy for both characters. Josephine feels defined by her Diabetes and Wells definitely has some childhood trauma issues that he needs to work through. A relationship or a significant other can't fix all of that.

I also loved the set-up for the next romance in the series -- between a gruff hockey player and his live-in nanny/penguin scientist. Tessa! I will absolutely be checking that out!

Is there anything Tessa Bailey *can't* write? I had so much fun with this sports romance (about golf, no less!) and immediately fell for grumpy Wells and sweet Josephine. It was so fun to see their relationship develop, and I love how Wells trusted Josephine to manage her T1D but wanted to be ready to help all the same. I can't wait to see our single dad hockey player fall in love with his penguin-researching nanny!

No surprise, Tessa Bailey has once again scored a hole in one (groan, sorry for the pun). This is hot hot hot and sweet all at the same time. Can't wait for the next in the duet!

When I saw an upcoming Tessa Bailey sports rom com, I was definitely really excited!! Fix Her Up, a book of hers that focuses on a former baseball player is one of my absolute favorite of hers. This one did not disappoint, and I loved the way that Wells evolved over time.

I am a football junkie and I am also a devoted romance reader. What better combination could there be for reading such an entertaining story?! Tessa Bailey is one of the best and she has a way of crafting such engaging, sweet, comforting stories that make me have all the feels! I laughed out loud and loved the chemistry in this book. I would have loved it no matter the setting as it is endearing but I loved the football subject matter even more. I cannot wait to share this book with many others because I know that, like me, they will adore it! Highly recommended!

This was my first Tessa Bailey book and I’m excited to read more. I adored Josephine’s and Wells story. Their banter was everything! These two went to such great lengths to love and honor each other, both while trying to reach different life goals. Great story!

Wells and Josephine have claimed the number one spot in my Tessa Bailey obsession. I found myself smiling and laughing all through out this book. The chemistry was off the charts and the banter was top notch. I will definitely be ordering this book as soon as it releases.

If I ever fall for a guy who has such extreme anger issues that he throws shit into ponds and bashes golf clubs against trees, lock me up. Filing this one under: Okay read but thank God these characters are fictional.

Sooooo I'll be honest, I wasn't super into the premise of this book from the jump. The concept of a super fan and athlete gives me the ick a bit but I tried to keep an open mind about it.

Josephine wasn't the most likable main character. She definitely suffered from NLOG syndrome. She is living with diabetes and is tired of people (her parents) treating her as incapable because of it. I feel like she just fell flat.

Wells, on the other hand, sucked SO BADLY. He was rude, he was obnoxious, he was horny. He was just so creepy honestly lol. His entire character was like childhood trauma which is fine but I feel like it was always kind of glossed over a lot like go to therapy dude.

The smut was... interesting. Would not recommend this book based on the smut alone it was so cringe. VERY skippable.

Overall I just think a lot of this book fell flat. I don't think their relationship was developed well enough nor were they as individual characters. There is also a random amount of misogyny. This book is being released in 2024 like... why does the MMC say that champagne is for women??? Also the FMC's stance on relationships being not for her because women are expected to be demure like... where is this coming from. It just didn't make sense and felt so stupid. She did get me with the line, "I was very happy being alone until you showed up."

I really liked the premise of this book and the idea of a hardcore golf fan falling in love with the player that everyone else has given up on. The sports element was really well incorporated into the book. The tournaments, games, and her new job as his caddy added such an interesting dynamic to their love story and created an effective outside conflict. The two main characters were really sweet with each other, I only feel like the introduction of the characters, the setup of her becoming his caddy, and him acting in such a romantic way towards her moved a little fast for me. Other than that, I honestly couldn't put this down.

Im intrigued about bringing golf into the sexy sports romance category but this was not it at all. Wells was psychotic; the fangirl plot lasted 2 chapters and was never brought up again; and while some of the smut was promising (love normalizing ass eating in hetero romances), the unhinged metaphors and similes make it a mockery.

Tessa Bailey's foray into sports romances focuses on a golf star at the seemingly end of his career, and the one fan who has stuck with him through it all. Wells Whitaker is a mess. His career is in shambles, he's got a terrible reputation, and now he just got kicked off the PGA tour. And now he's alienated the only fan who has stuck by him through it all, Josephine Doyle. Josephine Doyle loves golf. Her family owns a golf store, which she has inherited and has big dreams for improving. But when a storm unexpectedly destroys the store, Josephine is in need of cash to rebuild. Enter Wells Whitaker, who is seriously regretting his outburst that lost him the only fan he had left. He convinces Josephine to caddy for him to earn the money she needs to rebuild her store, despite the fact that women caddy's are unheard of on the tour and, oh yeah, he can't play golf very well anymore. But Josephine is determined to help him and turn his career around.

I had mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed it, certainly. It's a grumpy-sunshine trope, which Tessa Bailey does very well. I enjoyed Josephine's character, and that Bailey didn't fall into a lot of the romance pitfalls (Josephine can take care of herself and refuses to let her dreams play second fiddle to her man's). What I didn't enjoy was the pacing. The romance felt very fast, especially considering the power dynamics between the two (Josephine technically works for Wells, and has also been his fan for years).

That being said, I am definitely going to read the next book in this series (the characters were actually introduced in this book, which was fun).

A very weak first chapter eventually led to a fun and sexy sports love story. Tessa Bailey is the master at this genre and that's why the lackluster first chapter was such a disappointment. Overall, a very fun and satisfying read.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! Tessa Bailey has done it again. This time with a grumpy, down on his luck (but still smoking hot) golf pro and a sunny, down on her luck, super fan. Luckily our main character moves seamlessly from fan to caddy and life coach. The banter was great, the heart was there, and the steam was top notch! I loved it!

A Tessa Bailey sports romance is exactly what I needed! I loved all of the characters, their chemistry, and the golf romance trope. Fangirl Down is probably my favorite book of hers so far! The writing was upbeat and funny as always, this one is a must read!

Shout out to HarperCollins and NetGalley for this ARC! It was a real hole-in-one! Do I know anything about golf? No. Have I ever seen someone play professional golf? No. But I have played my fair share of mini golf, which I think makes me completely qualified to comment on this book. Tessa Bailey is just SO GOOD at writing a grumpy character, it gets me every time. This book was so fun and I absolutely ate it up. I absolutely recommend if you're looking for a good sports romance!
