I really enjoyed this sequel to The Maid. Molly is as endearing and as exasperating literal as ever. In flashbacks, we learn more about Molly’s childhood, and how her Gran ended up raising her by herself. We also see Molly proficiently handle her new title and responsibilities as Head Maid, as well as navigating life without her beloved gran.
“She’s dead, yet I still hear her voice in my head. Isn’t it interesting how a person can be as present after death as they were in real life?”
While working with her Maid-in-training, Lily, a famous mystery author drops dead during a speaking engagement at the Regency.
With a plethora of suspects but no known motive, Molly is determined to solve the murder of a man she once knew as a child.
“ I may miss what you think is obvious, but I’ve always been attuned to what others ignore.”
I have the feeling there will be more books in this series, and I’ll ready for each one!
Thanks to @netgalley @penguinrandomca and @nitaprose for this advanced digital edition. All thoughts are my own.

The Mystery Guest by Nita Prose
Molly the Maid is back in the second of the series. If you haven’t read The Maid I highly recommend it!
When the Regency Grand Hotel becomes the location of an untimely death once again, Molly and returning character Detective Stark work together to solve the mystery.
I loved The Maid, but only liked this one, and I can’t put my finger on it. There seemed to be a lot of repetition and too much polish in the wrap up.
What I really enjoyed was finding out a bit more of Molly’s backstory and meeting Lily the maid-in-training.
Though this wasn’t my favourite sequel I know I’ll be back to read more should a 3rd come out!
Thanks to NetGalley Penguin Random House Canada and the author for an opportunity to read this #ARC.

Molly Maid is back with another mystery to solve at the Regency Grand Hotel!
The sequel to The Maid feels so familiar in a great way. The plot, the characters and Molly herself all gave a cozy familiarity to the sequel that we got in the first book. We did get to see a different side of Molly in this one though. She seemed to have grown into her own between the two books. She’s more attentive, confident and comfortable in her own skin. It was so wonderful to see her growth.
This book is yet another cozy mystery, for those who enjoy low stakes and easy mystery novels. At times the mystery felt a little too low stakes for my taste, but I still enjoyed it all the same (and even more than the first book).
I definitely recommend reading this if you enjoy mystery’s without the thriller aspect many have now a days. I would suggest reading The Maid first to ensure you know the characters and have a deeper understanding of them, although it’s not entirely necessary at the author does a great job at catching you up!
Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin Random House Canada and Nita Prose for this ARC!

The Mystery Guest is the second book about Molly, the endearing main character in The Maid, last year’s hit novel by @nitaprose
Molly is now Head Maid at the Regency Grand Hotel. Like in The Maid, she stumbles upon a murder of a guest at the hotel. She tries to not become involved but her past unwittingly pulls her into the police investigation.
Molly is as sweet and loveable as in The Maid and we come to know her better as her past is slowly revealed. She knows she thinks and acts differently from others (while a disorder is never identified, she struggles with social skills and takes things very literally). She is often underestimated by others but she doesn’t let that (or her differences) make her feel less than, thanks to her loving grandmother. The plot unfolds from Molly’s point of view and so the reader really gets into her mind. I greatly enjoy the neurodivergent representation in this story.
This novel is as much about a murder mystery as it is about Molly’s character and her relationships. There are some great developments both near the end and in the Epilogue that appear to nicely set things up for a next book with Molly. Fingers crossed that this is the case.
The Mystery Guest is a great read and would be perfect for anyone who loves curling up with a cozy mystery type of book or anyone who enjoys a charming, full of heart story.
Thanks to @penguinrandomca and @netgalley for this complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

Molly the maid is back at it again!
This time when a popular mystery writer checks into the hotel and is set to make a mysterious announcement, things go stupendously wrong.
Between her beloved Juan being away visiting family and the authors connection to her past, Molly is constantly feeling overwhelmed and off kilter as she tries to solve a number of wrong doings going on in the hotel - including a murder!
This was a quick fun read. Looking forward to checking out future books by this author.
Thanks to NetGalley, Penguin Random House Canada and Nita Prose for the advanced ebook for my honest opinion

A cozy mystery that was entertaining and very easy to read. I found it well-paced, with well-developed characters and believable motivations, with an interesting plot and satisfying ending.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada who provided me with a copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I stopped reading series because I always get disappointed by the subsequent sequels. But wow. I'm BACK in it because I loved book 2 of the adventures of Molly Gray! This book was equally as well-written and suspenseful as the first one. I can't wait for everybody to read this one and get excited about this mystery.

No spoilers. Thank you to the publisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy. This is the second novel but could easily be read as a standalone. Though reading the first in the series will give insight into some of the references made in this one (not many). I truly enjoyed how the second book explored more of the relationship dynamics between Molly and her grandmother.
I usually don’t enjoy second books better than the first though there has to be a first for everything.
Enjoy 😊

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of The Mystery Guest by Nita Prose. I have to say I was happy to be reading about Molly again. I enjoyed this book very much and it offered a few surprises that I didn't expect. We learned more about Molly and it was fun to read about her past. I would highly recommend this book but would advise the The Maid be read first to have a better understanding of the characters. I loved it and it was a fast, easy read. I gave it a 4 star rating.

This sequel to The Maid was very good and I enjoyed reading the book very much! Molly’s quirkiness was slightly less pronounced in this book than in The Maid which I found a small bit sad, because that was what I loved about book 1. But on the other hand I enjoyed the plot of The Mystery Guest a lot, as the murder case was not just set in the present timeline but also contains flashbacks to Molly’s childhood.
All in all I hope that this is not the last book featuring Molly and her friends as main characters, as they are so fun to read about. I can recommend this book to any mystery lover!
(A review will be also posted on my Goodreads and instagram @anns.book.chronicles on pub day)

I absolutely loved the authors first book The maid, so I was very excited to get my hands on the second in the series, A Mystery Guest.
This is another cozy mystery with a few twists. What I love the most about this series is Molly! She is such a lovable character. I also enjoyed learning more about Molly’s past.
This was definitely a fast read for me as I felt each chapter left you wanting more. I definitely recommend this series!

I read The Maid by Nita Prose without knowing there would be a sequel. I loved The Maid as a stand-alone novel but The Mystery Guest is a sequel I never knew I needed. I absolutely loved this book just as much as the first. I enjoyed the in-depth background into Molly and her Gran’s earlier life. It was a very easy fast-paced read uncovering a murder once again. I love Mollys character, her witty comments and laughable banter with the other characters always makes for an enjoyable read. I am not sure if Prose has set up a possible third book but I would love to read a third in hopes of Molly possibly changing career paths and seeing how that plays out with Detective Stark. Regardless if there will be a third book or not I enjoyed the ending very much and felt like everything that needed answering was answered. Overall a great read and I am excited to read more by Nita Prose in the future.. Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for this ARC.

Oh Molly! What have you gotten yourself into again!! lol. Nita's outdone herself again!!. Such a great duo series. Highly recommend if you loved The Maid which I did!!!.

Molly the maid is such a delight. It’s impossible not to like her character. I love Prose’s writing style, it flows so well and hooks you in. Just like the first book, this was extremely bingeable.
This one felt less mysterious than The Maid - but it was a still fun whodunit. I kept changing my guess throughout the story.
I enjoyed the dual timelines alternating past to present. And although Gran has passed away, she had a heavy presence in the book (in the before timeline)
3.75⭐️

Canada for an advance reading copy in exchange for my own opinion.

I finished reading, "The Mystery Guest, " by Nita Prose and was happy to know that our character, Molly, was offered a new job prospect at the conclusion of the novel which gave me the sense that her adventures are not yet over. I am very partial towards Molly because she has endearing qualities that touch my heart and mind for e.g., she is always trying to please others and at the same time, appease those who are hard to satisfy. She is a truly remarkable heroine who goes above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that everything goes smoothly on the job and/or in her personal life. I can definitely relate with Molly's tendencies for observing phenomena that other people ignore in everyday life as I am a detail-focused individual who zeroes in on the microscopic things as well and therefore, I felt a kinship with her that I usually do not have with characters in other novels. Her propensity for getting into uncomfortable situations - through no fault of her own - was observed by the reader throughout the storyline (at least in my case, I have noted them) and her approach in resolving these situations offered us an impression of Molly's uniqueness and her sense of justice. I couldn't help but cheer her on in her continual efforts to bring order back into her work life after a devastating event involving Mr. Grimthorpe. I also enjoyed getting glimpses of Molly's childhood past in relation to her beloved grandmother and how they lived and interacted with notable characters such as Mr. Preston, the Grimthorpes, Mr. Jenkins, etc. I had actually hoped for more details about Maggie and how she grew up and was actually expecting her re-appearance in Molly's life (there was only a brief interaction between Maggie and Molly), but I guess that could be another storyline in another novel for the author.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel and was engaged with the characters throughout. I was really captivated with the ending and how Molly alluded to her grandmother's favorite saying that "good things come to those who wait." Additionally, Mr. Preston's involvement with Molly via an employee-to-employee relationship was shifted in a surprising way by the author with the revelation that he was more closely associated with Molly's family than we had expected. I look forward to reading more about Molly and her cast of friends and relations in future novels.
Ms. Nita Prose, thank you for this wonderful story and wonderful book!

Molly is back! And this time she is training a new maid, Lily at the Regency Grand Hotel when of course, there's been a murder! I found it very easy to fall back in love with the story of Molly and her history with the Regency Grand Hotel. I was proud to read how Molly learnt from her experiences how she is now able to stand up for herself more and those she cares about.
I enjoyed both mysteries throughout the book as they were entertaining, funny, and kept my attention the whole time. I truly missed Juan's presence throughout this second novel because he played such a great part in The Maid. However, learning about Molly's history with her Grandma and how she came to love cleaning helped me make more sense of who she is as a person and a maid. Molly is quick, clever, unique and her neurodivergent tendencies are portrayed throughout the book with an elite level of execution.
This cozy mystery will leave you with a warm heart and laughter as you become your own guest in the Regency Grand Hotel.
Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC of The Mystery Guest by Nita Prose!

Molly is once again able to show off her best maid behavior and still somehow finds she self in unfortunate situations. Molly finally get the role of Head Maid but then she has to train new maids and deal with tough situations on her own. Once again Molly keeps readers wanting more and is a great character.

This was a fun mystery with the delightful Molly the Maid back to share with us her devotion to words and cleaning. I especially liked the chapters where Gran was still part of the story and where Molly remembered aspects of her life as a young child in situations relating to the current storyline of a dead novelist. Molly's work ethic and attention to detail has clearly earned her respect from co-workers and even the investigating police. It makes me happy that Molly's 'found family' and relationships give her the love, support and friendship she did not experience enough of as a child.
'As it turns out, he most definitely has written his last, thought I believe this fact was as much a surprise to him as it was to everyone who watched him collapse on the herringbone-patterned floor of the tearoom forty-seven minutes ago.'
Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada and NetGalley for an early copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Mystery Guest was a brilliant sequel the The Maid.
In The Mystery Guest, Molly must once again help solve a murder at the Regency Grand Hotel. This time, a famous author dies suddenly at a book signing which shocks hotel guests and his fans. Molly and the other staff start investigating this event. Much like The Maid, there is a lot of hijinx involved.
I thoroughly enjoyed the backstory in this book and the connection Molly had to the now-deceased author.
All the great characters from The Maid return in this second installment (yes! even Gran!). This book was fast-paced and a fun read. I really hope Nita Prose continues this series as I always like to see what Molly will be up to next.
If you enjoyed The Maid, you must pick up The Mystery Guest.
*** Thank you to Penguin Random House and NetGalley for an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are always my own.

Molly the Maid is back and is as delightful as ever! There's another suspicious death of a famous author at the hotel the works for and it turns out to be murder. Of course, she investigates the crime, in her own way, and more effectively than the police. In the first book she's mostly alone and struggles to make friends but this time she has more support from true friends and a live in boyfriend, although he is away for most of the book. She's going to need all the support she can get as this murder investigation takes her into her distressing past. As a small child she spent time in the house of the current murder victim. This gives her unique insights into the case and her manner of noticing and remembering every detail comes in handy yet again.
I love spending time with Molly and I am thrilled to see her again. The first book was so good I was a bit worried that this sequel couldn't live up to that high bar. I'm happy to say that this story was just as perfect as the first one. The mystery was even better because it led Molly's past which was fascinating. If you ever wondered what Molly was like as a child you will enjoy this peek into her past. She's exactly the same and exactly what you would expect.
Although this story is a murder mystery it isn't gritty or dark in any way. I would consider it a cozy mystery. It's a feel good kind of story with lots of humour and chuckles which leaves you feeling positive about the world. It is heart warming and lovely in the best way. I'm ready for more of Molly the maid in the future and I hope this will be a long continuing series.
