I made it 35% of the way into this book (which is a good bit considering it's about 450 pages) and ultimately decided to DNF it. The writing itself was good, and I knew there was going to be some type of romance between Jillian and Daniel. But when the ghost went down on Jillian, I just couldn't keep going. I also just didn't love the fact that Jillian's lack of sexual or dating life was viewed as this huge issue. Yes, she needed to learn to be able to speak to men, but besides that, whether you're sexually active or not and whether you're dating or not shouldn't be viewed as a negative.

I do not normally read romance but I want to read different genres. The story was charming. I liked the plot of a romance between the FMC and a ghost. I totally bought that she had a hard time speaking with men but just fine talking to a male ghost until I found out the reason why. It didn’t make sense to me. The ending was unique and I love the HEA but again how “the lightbulb came on” didn’t connect with me. Overall I liked the audiobook. The narrators were very good. I thought it had just the right amount of spice for me. I like some spice but not smutty.

I want to thank NetGalley and W.W. Crown for a copy of the audiobook. I voluntarily give this review.

“If I’d known my new apartment was a sex maniac's love den, I would have never invited my parents along.”

What a great first line for this paranormal romance! While this isn’t a genre I normally read, @sarahreadyauthor has quickly become one of my favorite comfort read authors. When I read one of her books, I know I will not be disappointed. I saw that both the ebook and audiobook were read now books on NetGalley, I jumped at the chance to get both so that I could tandem read them.

Ghosted was everything I read Sarah’s books for, characters I love, fun storylines that sometimes deal with heavy topics in a sensitive way and are always binge worthy. I loved everything about Ghosted. It’s a must-read book!

The narrators do an excellent job. I highly recomment the audiobook.

This is a review of the audiobook. (This book is also available in other formats)

Full of emotion, suspense, love & understanding. Just beautiful! The narration is perfect. There is an element of suspended belief in this book with the characters of Jillian & Daniel. The way they interact in their current states are unique. They are the best of opposites because they balance each other & help each other grow. The suspense of wanting to know what happens between Jillian & Daniel plus the yearning to see how it all ends pushes the reader.

Plus, anyone who loves Star Trek, Captain Kirk & science will love this book!

Another magnificent book by Sarah Ready, I don't know how she does it but she manages to keep me trapped in the plot.
.
Perhaps it is the brilliant choice of the narrators who, in addition to painting the scene and the colors so clearly, can make the characters come out of the book.
.
Jillian has just moved to New York, to a strange, exotically decorated apartment that is close to her work, but the minute her parents leave, an attractive shirtless stranger appears and after trying to hit him and encountering him, Jillian fears that something strange is happening to her
.
But when she accepts the help of this strange apparition to save her job and her love life, Jillian begins to have other feelings for him.
.
I would like to say more but there are a couple of twists that would give away the entire plot, and as you progress you discover who he is, why he doesn't have a shirt, and the reason why Jillian is the only one who can see him
.
heartwarming is little, almost heartbreaking and with a lot of vibes from the movies Just like Heaven and Premonition with Sandra Bullock but this book has a happy ending, even if it makes you long for it in those last chapters
.
It is one of those books that one cannot put down and wants to be able to listen straight away without interruptions, marking each sentence that the protagonists say.
.
Thanks to Sarah Ready and W.W. Crown for give me a copy of this amazing book in exchange for mi voluntary and honest opinion

Take this with a grain of salt because I seem to be in the minority but I did not care for this book. I found the dialogues very cringy. The main character can only be described as sheltered. I also felt the book was too long

The narrator was amazing and probably the only reason I finished this one

Jillian has just moved to a new apartment, and she's far from lonely. WHY? Because there's a ghost, a super hot ghost, named Daniel, "living" there too. He decides that he needs to help her live her best life so he can move on. The problem? Daniel and Jillian start falling for each other. But how can it work if one is living and one is not? This book will keep you laughing, smiling, crying, and guessing until the end!

This book is EPIC. I thought I was in for a magical rom com that was fluffy and fun, until about 25% in when the book went DEEP. SCIENCE and LOVE were brought into play. There were scenes that gave me head-to-toe goosebumps. I cried at the beautiful and tasteful scenes of Daniel and Jillian expressing their love in the only ways they could. A plot I'd assumed would be formulaic, or something I'd already seen, surprised me multiple times. I was riveted to the page and desperate to see how this story would end. The conclusion was WONDERFUL. I was shocked by the second epilogue, giving me something to think about long after closing the book.

But why did I give this book 4.5 stars instead five? The length. It was nearly 500 pages long, and at times I FELT it. I'd say about 75% of this book was really compelling, but it would have been an even better story with roughly a quarter chopped away. The reader is treated to many scenes with extra characters that felt a bit superfluous. (I'm looking at you, work colleagues, haha!) I feel like it could have ended sooner, but by the time we reached the actual end, I was so happy that I sort of forgot about how long it had taken to get there. :oD

The bottom line...I still HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who wants some angst, science, and soulmates who find a way to each other despite all the odds. You'll be glad you did!!! :o)

Trigger warning: suicide (off page), car accident

I'd like to thank W.W. Crown, Independent Book Publishers Association, and Members' Audiobooks, and Netgalley for the eARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

I totally wasn’t expecting the whole story. Definitely a unique idea! I really loved this book and the narrators as well. Loved the flow and the writing style.

Oh, how I love Sarah Ready’s books! There was only one miss of all I’ve read, though I do still have to read the Romeo series. She’s a fantastic storyteller who has our emotions running through their paces the entire time and brings everything around in the end to the most amazing HEA!

I wasn’t prepared for Ghosted - I had a vague idea of what it was from the blurb, but I just truly was not ready or totally expecting what I was getting myself into when I started. I came in thinking that Jillian (who can’t speak to men and has difficulty dating), meets and falls for the ghost of Daniel, who appears to only her. He’s the ghost she meets the day she moves into her new, extremely weird, apartment.

That is definitely how it started, but it quickly became so much more, and halfway through it’s a totally different experience and it goes in a very different direction (following the direction everything was going and you will understand as you read), and gets even better and just soooo good! I think with that storyline change (twist, I suppose), it might make it my favourite Sarah Ready book!

Whether you’re a fan of her books or not, you’re going to want to give this book a read. It’s excellent! I cannot wait until February now, when we get Switched, the book for Jillian’s best friend (a swap story involving the Large Hadron Collider!). But, if you’re going to get this one, go for the audio, which is narrated by the incredible Sarah Naughton, who I always enjoy listening to, and new-to-me Rob Brinkmann, who I enjoyed very much.

I received an advance read and listen copy from NetGalley and W.W. Crown, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Titles, and this is my honest feedback.

This book was unique, fun, and swoony. Jillian is terrified to speak to men after a past trauma in her life, until she comes face to face with a hot, shirtless ghost named Daniel in her new apartment. She can speak to him without any issues, so he wonders if his last mission on earth is to assist her in overcoming her fears so he can ‘move on’ to the afterlife. I’m a sucker for the dating coach trope, and it is even more fun when the coach can attend the dates as an invisible ghost with running commentary. Over several weeks, Jillian and Daniel fall head over heels for each other but then he abruptly disappears. Several weeks later, Jillian runs into Daniel (in the flesh) and quickly realizes he has no recollection of their time spent together while he was a ghost. In an effort to possibly prevent his future death, Jillian embarks on a mission to save him and possibly resuscitate their connection. This read had just enough suspense, twists, hilarious secondary characters, and real swoony tension that makes a perfect romance read. It has Dead Romanctics + Ghost vibes that I ate up! Sarah Ready is quickly becoming an auto-buy author for me.

Sarah Ready has become an author that I need to check out more from. I immediately became invested in Jillian and Daniel's story, especially the humor and dialogue between the two! Set on a backdrop of New York City, these two navigate this unique romance. I enjoyed the narrators of this audio version from their cadence of the story to not being able to put it down! Thank you to NetGalley and W.W. Crown for the advanced audio copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own!

I enjoyed the narrator of this audiobook I found it easy to listen to her. Overall I found the plot line just okay. I enjoyed the ghost aspect where only she could see him and they formed a bond and relationship. I thought it the book was kind of long and could have been condensed to make it more enjoyable. I felt bad for Jillian when she remembered their history but Daniel couldn't. And was really happy when he did remember at the end! I do think it's worth giving a shot for a different romance.

Thank you, Netgalley! This was my first audio from Netgalley.

This book gave me While You Were Sleeping, Just Like Heaven, and How to Lose a Guy vibes all wrapped into one. I loved the story, minus the living quarters of the main character. I don't think the book really needed those details to be successful. Unlikely romance and feel good ending. I liked the small shout-out to Iowa :).

Jillian & Daniel are an unlikely couple that you can't help but root for. I don't think I've ever read a similar plot before, so yay for uniqueness, but I'm not sure I fully believe it. Yes, I do believe in ghosts and do want to be one one day, but I don't know, I'm mixed about this right now.

What in the ever loving with their first se*ual encounter? A bit odd to me because it can't be real, well duh because he's a ghost, so it's not, but yet it kind of gave off a realistic vibe, as well.
I did admire Jillian's tenacity in the 2nd part, but in turn she was clingy and stalkerish and I can't say I was fully in love with her. I'd like to know how she got the gig of a relationship expert when she has trouble talking to men, she's never really been in a relationship and is a virgin? I liked Daniel, both ghost and real, but I feel the story would have benefited with his POV. Also, he's a shirtless ghost so why is he wearing a shirt on the cover?

Overall, it had cute, sad, fun, heartbreaking, and just a few eye rolling moments.

Narration notes:
It was pretty long, but I was able to listen at 3x perfectly fine, so it didn't take up too much time. Sarah did a lovely job. Rob only narrated one chapter, so I don't have any complaints.

Series notes:
We will be getting Serena's story in February 2024.

Sarah Ready never fails to impress me. I thought the first half of this book was just okay and I could take it or leave it. Then we got to the second half and I couldn’t stop listening to the audiobook! The second half really sealed the deal for me and made this one a 4 star read.

This was just so good. I did not expect the ghost story. I just love love Jillian. I could just feel her anxiety. She had so much character growth in this book. Daniel is the hot cinnamon roll. The romance was so sweet and spicy! I loved the story and did not want to put the book down. The narrations was awesome! Thank you to NetGalley and W.W. Crown for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

This was so cute and funny. The universe of Sarah Ready's romance novels are filled with wild premises and true love.

It reminded me of The Dead Romantics, but less literary and more cute and alltogether more unique. I loved their relationship and the "twist" that allowed them to be together.

📚 Ghosted by Sarah Ready
Status: Available 9/26 Not KU
Reading Method: Audio ARC via @netgalley

📖 🎧 Writing &/or Audio Style : generally speaking I found the writing style easy to read and get sucked into the story. Sarah Naughton, the narrator, is one I really enjoy (she did Trish Doller’s books) so that was great too. The only thing I noticed, and I can’t decide if this is a complaint or not, is the author uses VERY descriptive language. It sets a BEAUTIFUL scene, but it also means that it certain scenes felt SO long. In the last 20% when I was just dying to know how things were going to work themselves out I did not care about the tinkling chime of china.

👥 Characters & Relationships: LOVVVVEEEEEEE. I love Jillian, I love Daniel. I love the quirky cast of side characters.

⁉️Plot, Intrigue & Logic: This story was sooo fascinating to me, I had NO idea how it was going to work out, and being a girl who needs a happy ending I just kept saying “trust the process, trust the process”. Because of the plot this story almost felt like 2 books and in the second half while it did NOT drag, it simultaneously felt LONG.

🏞️Atmosphere & Setting: As mentioned above Sarah Ready sets 👏 the 👏 scene 👏. It’s possible I could smell the trash on the New York streets. In some parts of the story I was like OKAY ALREADY. But I still appreciate the way she transports you.

🥰Enjoyment: I LOVED this book. It reminded me of Seven Year Slip, which we know I was obsessed with while still being VERY different. If you listen via audio I’d say be prepared to raise a speed a bit in the second half (through no fault of the narrator) because you’ll be itching to find out how things will play out. Despite some of my impatience with the descriptiveness, I definitely recommend.

🚨 For Reader Awareness: Without saying the word there is talk of an off page “self unaliving”

📣Recommended for fans of: Magical Realism, O’s via ghost 😂, Cinnamon Roll Men

4.5 stars. This is probably the cutest paranormal romance I've ever read. Jillian moves into a new apartment only to realize its already occupied by a shirtless, Romeo of a ghost named Daniel. Of course she falls in love with him but how will that work exactly? Leave it to physics and energy and all that other unbelievable sci-fi to make this dream come true for Jillian and Daniel. Adorable feel-good romance.

*Special thanks to NetGalley and W.W. Crown for this audio e-arc.*
