Thank you to NetGalley, W.W. Crown and Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) for the ARC audiobook of Ghosted by Sarah Ready!
I enjoyed this audio book and the narrator chosen had a pleasant voice to listen to. The gist of Jillian and Danial meeting, but Jillian learning that Daniel is ghost is what caught me. The description of this book in how she starts to fall in love with him makes me curious as to how this story will play out.
Overall, I gave this a 4 star review. Two pieces that I did not care for was first all the references to Star Trek, mostly just cause I didn’t get it and it didn’t add to the story for me at all. The 2nd piece was how it almost felt like two separate stories about the same two main characters. There is the beginning half when Daniel is a ghost and then the second half after she can’t see him anymore…don’t want to say too much on this and spoil it.
The wrap up of this story was good and made it feel a little more connected. It was a fun read and a different take on a romance story than I normally would read.

Wow. What a heartwarming and beautiful story!
Hilarious, romantic and unputdownable, Ghosted will sweep you off your feet.
We follow Jillian, a young woman and super Star Trek fan who is shocked to discover a ghost man named Daniel in her new apartment. The two fall deeply in love with each other while he's helping her overcome her shyness with men, which he feels is his unfinished business. However, circumstances get in the way of their happiness.
The audiobook was narrated excellently. The narrators did a beautiful job bringing the story to life.
If you enjoy paranormal romances, a couple to root for, surprising twists, new adult love stories, and great characters, chances are you may enjoy this fantasy rom com novel.
The idea behind this book had me hooked! After the first few chapters I couldn’t stop! The narrator was easy to listen to, and embodied Jillian. I loved the descriptions of the apartment and Daniel. I loved the time lines throughout the book, but also enjoyed the little nerdy, quirky moments Jillian had. The supporting characters were great, and there were so many times laughed!
I really enjoyed this. The plot and concept were really good and I thought the book flowed really well. Jillian and Daniel were great main characters and I was really able to believe in them as a couple - despite the fact he's a ghost. I think how much I rooted for them as a couple said a lot about the writing style - it was really well done and believable.
Great book with a lot of heart and warmth.
This was a brilliant romance with mind blowing plot twists. The story stays interesting and I couldn’t have in any way guessed what would happen. I really was not expecting the plot twist.
The characters are interesting too and I love how easy the relationship between Daniel and Jillian is easy. It’s almost fairytale like. They also grow a lot as characters and the ending is a perfect fit for their love story.
The narrator was pleasant to listen to and I really enjoyed the audiobook.
Another excruciating read from Sarah Ready. “Ghosted” is a story of second chances, forgiveness, boundless love, and learning to live again. It follows a geeky Jillian as she finds her self inexplicably bound to a ghost haunting her new apartment. A sexy, charismatic, one- of-a-kind-typa-smile ghost man named Daniel who is convinced it’s his cosmic purpose to fix her life. Daniel helps Jillian to improve her stale journalism skills, revitalize her love life, and heal her pathological shyness (I feel like we can call it extreme anxiety and selective mutism). As their friendship and affections for each other build they can’t help but wonder what the future could possibly have in store for them.
This book includes:
- non spooky ghosts
- star crossed lovers
- second chance love
- geeky girl who still pretty with her metaphorical glasses still on
- grief and healing
I loved the relationship between Jillian and Daniel and found their friendship to be so comforting. Reading about how they loved each other’s silly quirks and truly 100% accepted each other’s true selves felt like a wam hug. I loved their relentlessness and resilience. And I even loved the repeated, excruciating heart break.
I read this book because I loved Sarah Ready’s “the Space Between” (which I also read as an ARC) and it was an excellent decision. Sarah is so skilled at writing characters that you can’t help but feel endearing affection for, despite their mistakes. Every page immerses me deeper into the world and I couldn’t help but listen to this entire book in one sitting. Stunning, electric, 10/10 fantastic story.
I recommend “Ghosted” to all of Sarah Ready’s fans along with fans of “Summer Girl,” “Masters of Death,” and especially “New Adult.”
I received this audiobook as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher.
I was not ready for Ghosted by Sarah Ready! THIS BOOK! I have read countless love story books but Ghosted was written so well! The alternate timelines, the scifi mentions, the storyline -insert swoon- Watching Jillian's story evolve and watching her go through struggles and heartbreak is so real and relatable. I cannot describe enough how I love watching Daniel and his character slowly falling in love with Jillian. At one point I am listening to this book in my car screaming "give him CPR!!". I love that they found each other and that Daniel remembered. I cannot describe enough how much I just simply adored this book. Best love story read in a long time! Thank you Sarah Ready for your talent. Thank you to Netgalley as always and thank you to W.W. Crown
Thank you NetGalley for the Advanced Audiobook! Ghosted by Sarah Ready is a romance novel that explores the true meaning of fate. Jillian, a reporter, feels a presence in her appartement. After careful deliberation with her physicist best friend Serena, she comes to the conclusion that she is being « haunted » by a ghost. Daniel, however, seems to be hanging around to help Jillian grow into a better version of herself. Will she come to understand Daniel’s presence in her life? This was my second Sarah Ready audiobook and I was not disappointed. Sarah Naughton’s narration was just the right mix of serious and funny to hold my interest. Her ability to tell the story really helped bring Ready’s characters to life. I laughed, cried and was genuinely, at times, heartbroken for Jillian. Rob Brinkman’s narration of Daniel’s alternate reality was also spot on. Overall, a really funny, quirky, romance novel that I would recommend to others.
There are books that make you tear up. There are books that make you roll your eyes. And there is Ghosted by Sarah Ready that makes you do both of those things.
I can’t explain it. For the first half of the book I was rolling my eyes like it was my job. And then, suddenly, everything changed and at one point I thought I will be crying because it got me so emotional (in a good way!). Go figure.
What is happening? 🤯
This new release from Sarah Ready enters a new frontier. Jillian is a Trekkie. Daniel is a . . .ghost? Although I am not a big paranormal fan, I did find myself glued to my earbuds and finishing this one at lightning speed. Here is why:
🌟Jillian is adorable. You want to root for her from the beginning.
🌟The quirky coworkers at The Daily Expose' where Jillian works. Bernardo their intrepid head is an enigma. Haley, the beauty queen, knows her sports. Buck is a bulldog. Ned made me laugh out loud when he labelled Daniel a "dimension hopper."
🌟Aunt Fran. What a delightful character!
🌟The NYC setting and the hop over to Switzerland.
If you love a paranormal romance with a big heart and some spice, then this is the book for you!
Thank you to W.W. Crown and NetGalley for a DRC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was giving me nostalgic “Just Like Heaven” vibes in the best way. I loved this book!!
Jillian and Daniel are adorable and your heart will ache with them and but also be filled with joy with them. Through their ups and downs I loved them and their story and this is definitely a read you will not want to skip!!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review.
"Ghosted" is a captivating read that kept me engaged throughout. The storyline was filled with suspense, and I was constantly guessing how it would all conclude. The book deserves a solid 4-star rating for its ability to hold my attention.
However, I found myself wanting more clarity on the protagonist's reasoning behind her reluctance to talk to guys.
Despite theis minor drawbacks, "Ghosted" is a book worth picking up, especially if you enjoy a mystery with twists and turns that will keep you intrigued until the very end.
The audiobook is fantastic, the narrator does such a good job and really brought Jillian and the story to life.
Sarah Ready books are such a ride and I enjoy every moment. I honestly don't know how she makes my fan-of-realism heart get into this stuff, but does she ever.
Ghosted very much feels like just like heaven from the start, but with a hilariously awful apartment. The sex den in some ways felt like an additional character, and it added a lot. I have to admit that I was very skeptical of the can't talk to men thing, but it was more than a plot device. Jillian had trauma-induced selective mutism, and while this may not have been the best portrayal since she could always talk to Daniel and she seemingly gets over it in the book, I was glad there was more than falling in love fixed me. There is a bit of that, but it was more about processing her trauma and releasing her guilt.
I was glad to see the reckoning over Jillian's tactics to see Daniel though I really had to suspend my disbelief that a guy who had a stalker before was that open with her. Daniel was pretty insta-love which I normally hate but since we had already seen them fall for each other it sort of worked.
I have mixed feelings on the second epilogue, I liked seeing Daniel's POV and closing the loop on what happened in the original timeline but I hated that she was able to talk to him right off the bat there, it goes back to my hesitation and concerns with the selective mutism.
But overall a really enjoyable book. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the e and audio arcs.

Plot:
Jillian has a problem; she can only speak to men if they are not living or breathing. With her life upside down, and her career as a relationship expert writer tanking, life decides to throw her another curveball. Jillian moved into a new apartment; little did she know it was already occupied. Meet Daniel, our handsome, shirtless, and sexy ghost who also happens to be the only man Jillian can talk to. I mean he does meet the requirements of not living or breathing.
Daniel is convinced that he is in Jillian’s life to help her fix her career and love life. Seems logical right? But what happens when Jillian begins to fall for the one man she can talk to, the only man she can never have.
Thoughts:
Sarah Ready does it again. She has become one of my Auto-buy authors at this point. Ghosted was my third book by her and I have loved each one of them for different reasons. One of them was gut wrenching, one of them had me rolling on the flooring laughing and this one was a perfect mixture between those two. Frankly, one of the things that is so exciting about reading her work is you never truly know what you will get, but you can be sure you will have an amazing time reading it. All three books have been in Audiobook format and the narrators have brought each of the character to life and have made the stories truly enjoyable.
Sarah Ready created characters that you instantly root for, and this was no exception. I am madly in love with Daniel (our resident Ghost), he will make you laugh, swoon, your heart race, and your cheeks blush. What an incredible character who stayed incredible from start to finish which added to the incredible character development of both main characters.
If you are a Star Trek fan this one is for you (if you are not, then don’t worry (I am not), it is still for you, lol). Jillian is a “Trekkie”, and the entire book is filled with Star Trek references that you will love.
The two epilogues are adorable (especially the second one). It had my heart racing and making me want to restart the audiobook and start all over again.
I recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a swoon worthy, giggly romance with minimal open door that will remind you of the power of hope and love. Trust me, run to add this to your October TBR list.
Fast-paced and heart-warming, this story was much more complex than I was ready to give it credit for in the first chapter. I found that I was anxiously waiting to see if and how this unlikely couple could find their way together. I won't share this one with my high schoolers, but I will share it with my girlfriends!
Two quotes for this one, because the tone and style changed drastically after the first few chapters:
"There's so much man flesh that I can't ... I can't" (ch2)
"I know there are some things you can't change. You can't change the past. You can't bring someone into a future that isn't there. If someone is gone, they're gone." (ch31)
First of all I need to thanks NetGalley and the author for letting me "read" this book.
I only read 1 romance envolving ghoasts ( Layla) and I feel great about adding this one to the list.
It was a very good surprise.
The plot is great even though in general is quite cliché.
I love both characters and they're going to be for a while in my heart and memory.
The narrators were amazing.
Highly recommended!
Sarah Ready’s ‘Ghosted’ was cute, funny, romantic, a bit nerdy, heartachy, and super interesting. One of my favorite things was the unique, clever plot twist on this ghostly paranormal romance, one I spent almost the entire book trying to puzzle out the mechanics of, and STILL didn’t see coming, haha. It was a simple deviance from most ghost romances I’ve watched and read, and I really, really liked it. The way all the little bits and pieces came together was so satisfying, and really made the book for me. It also made that “predestined” air to Jillian and Daniel’s love even more potent. The story unfurled slowly, at an unhurried-cozy-mystery-pace, and with how complicated some of the elements were, the way it all needed to be carefully woven together, it was a pace well-suited for ‘Ghosted.’
The audiobook, narrated by Sarah Naughton and Rob Brinkman, brought Jillian and Daniel to life for me and made the story all the more wonderful.
I really enjoyed this one and look forward to checking out more of Ready’s work. Recommend!

I’ll start by saying, I will always jump at the chance to get my hands on a Sarah Ready book early! I’ve enjoyed all of her books that I’ve read as well as the connections between the central characters in the book. Ghosted was no different!
I was really excited for the premise of the book because I am a big fan of The Dead Romantics. As I was reading, the storyline was able to summon those same range of emotions. I did get a little nervous a few chapters in on how Sarah Ready would find a fresh take on the paranormal romance. Turns out, I had nothing at all to fear!! I was not anticipating the journey that Jillian and Daniel would go on. It really kept me consuming the book as fast as I could in order to see how it all played out. As I reached the ending, the only thing I felt like I was missing was Daniel’s POV, then BOOM the second epilogue delivered. My only critique, (without giving a spoiler) is that when Daniel has a realization of some sort, it felt a bit sped through. I wanted more insight as to how he came to that realization. I felt like the readers were a bit left out of such a huge pivotal moment.
All in all, adored the book. 4.5/5
Loved the narration. 5/5
I liked the first half of the book. The premise was intriguing, and there was plenty of fun, quirky humor. But I started to lose interest in the second half when the storyline shifted.. it felt like the story just dragged on and on and was way too long, with frequent descriptions of locations that did little to move the plot along. The romance also took on a corny, insta-love type feel that I wasn’t a fan of. So sadly, this went from being a four-star read at first to three stars.
So I had never read a book by Sarah Ready, but gosh what a great book to start with this author.
I've always been a fan of paranormal romance and Ghosted sounded so very fun, and I'm so happy to report it was a fabulous time. I had a hard time putting this audiobook down, I had my headphones with me at all times ready to listen more, it was just that good.
Jillian and Daniel were such fantastic characters. A nerdy girl who can't talk to men gets haunted by a really hot, shirtless man? Yes please! I also really dug her friend who worked at CERN. Also, Jillian's nutty coworkers were super fun too.
This book was fun, but it also ripped my heart out and had me on the verge of tears. I value my HEAs and she really had me questioning if it would happen at all. Ghosted is fun, but it's an emotional journey to be sure.
