Ghosted was a very enjoyable read, the narration was beautifully done.
Sarah Ready is vastly becoming a fave.
Thank you to NetGalley and W. W. Crown for my audiobook copy of Ghosted by Sarah Ready. I enjoyed Josh and Gemma so much that I am determined to read as much Sarah Ready as I can. However, I have not read any paranormal romance novels and this one was quite a surprise but not in a good way. I could not wrap my head around the fact that male main character Daniel is dead and that Jillian instantly falls in love with him, like what in the world, he’s dead! He’s a ghost girl!!!!!
I did finish this one but was cringing throughout the book so hard that the old saying fix your face before it stays that way came to mind and I was low key nervous of the wrinkles this book would give me.
Wowie this book was good!
I really enjoyed this story.. its a well narrated audiobook too and kept my attention.
It's quite a beautiful, surreal and magical story and just when I thought I knew what was happening and had predicted the story... wrong... wow I was blown away by this clever plot.
Loved this and highly recommend.
This is the second book by this author that I’ve had the pleasure of reading, and I must say I’m really enjoying her writing style.
While the story didn't fully resonate with me as I'd hoped, it's more a matter of personal preference. There's nothing inherently flawed about it. Typically, I gravitate towards paranormal or magic realism in literature, but in this instance, it slightly detracted from my immersion in the narrative.
I'm so glad I discovered Sarah Ready's books through NetGalley, I enjoyed all the books I read so far and this was no exception.
The romance in this one was cute and I liked all the characters.
I enjoyed the story and how it all works out in the end.
The narrators did a great job.
this was unexpectedly so beautiful. was it unrealistic and outlandish? yes. but was it a beautifully written story that made chest ache? 100%. sarah ready's talent is insane. I also loved the audio performance. it made me feel so much and they brought so much life to it.
Ghosted by Sarah Ready was an amazing read. The plot points took me totally by surprised. I love Ready's writing and plan to dig into her backlist after reading this book. What a gem!
I enjoyed this one! I’ll be honest, I thought the plot was going to be predictable and that Daniel was going to be in a coma or something so when things were finally revealed I actually said “What!?” Jillian was a sweet character but I cringed so bad at the fact people kept setting her up and all she did was smile, nod and awkward chuckle on these dates. Talk about rough. I chuckled a ton at this scenario - like ahaha of course there’s a ghost in her new apartment and of course he is shirtless LOL. Overall, it’s a fun take on the whole I’m falling in love with a ghost haha but the blow up of this one definitely punches you in the feels, be warned.
I went back and forth between the ebook and audiobook for this one but ultimately enjoyed the narration so I did mostly audio!
A huge thanks to W. W. Crown and Netgalley for the ARC and ALC. All opinions are my own.
I love a paranormal romance, and went in completely blind with this book, and I was so delighted to find that it was a sweet romance between Jillian and a ghost named Daniel who resides in her apartment. It was magical and I loved the theme of second chances.
I paired the book with audio and loved the immersive reading style.
*many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the gifted copy for review
10/10!!! Absolutely loved and enjoyed this audiobook! I DNF it a while ago because I picked it up at the wrong time, I’m a mood reader, and I’m so glad I gave it another chance! It was fantastic and Daniel is more than welcome to come and ghost me! Thanks
This was a lovely story! I have just started reading Sarah Ready's book this year, and she outdid herself with this one. I listened to both the audio and read the ebook, it was that enjoyable. With any sort of "ghost" trope romance, there is a bit of apprehension around when the twist will happen or the other shoe will drop, but this was handled really well! This was truly a story about how meeting the right person at the right time can help you become more confident in yourself, allowing you to be comfortable in your own skin. It was lovely.
This was my second audiobook narrated by Sarah Naughton and first by Rob Brinkmann, who both did a fantastic job creating unique and engaging characters. I would recommend this audiobook to anyone who enjoys cozy paranormal romances.
Just like everything else written by Sarah Ready, I loved this book! What an emotional roller coaster. The character and relationship development really sets the reader up to feel all of the same emotions that the characters are feeling. It was heartbreaking! But I am thankful for a wonderful, happy ending. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, the setting(s), the writing and the characters. It was a nice treat when Sarah mentioned The Tower - a small connection between another one of her books! I can't wait to read Serena's story.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for an ARC of this wonderful book/audiobook!
This is my second Sarah Ready book and she writes really cute rom-coms and I'm a fan! (I also started watching Star Trek the Next Generation finally after reading this, and listening to her talk about Star Trek so much). I enjoyed the love story between Daniel and Jillian, and the "omg he's a ghost!" story worked for me in the sense that it still felt like it was solid in the trope, but also had new angles to play.
Recommend if you want something that is light but also "make each other better people" - and especially if you like reading books about nerds.
I have really enjoyed every Sarah Ready book I’ve read so it pains me to give Ghosted a ⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating, but this one missed the mark for me. I enjoyed the first half of the book but the second half of the book felt drawn out and the second ending was underwhelming. A fun concept, just not executed that great. I will say, the dynamic between Jillian and Daniel was fun, I loved the banter, but the insta-love and paranormal sex scenes were a bit too much for me. It won’t stop me from picking up another Sarah Ready book though!
The narration by Sarah Naughton and Rob Brinkman was fun.
I received the advanced audiobook recording of this publication via NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
I was not sure if I would like this but was pleasantly surprised. The plot was a little crazy but I loved it nevertheless. The book is about Jillian who moves into a new apartment with a ghost who she falls in love with. Then everything happens and its just a wild ride that I really loved.
I felt to begin with that the narrator was a little slow however found that further along the audiobook, it did not really matter as I was interested in the book and what was going on anyway.
Sarah Ready just...writes a good story.
If you like stories like "Just Like Heaven" where Reese Witherspoon is a ghost that haunts her old apartment, and Mark Ruffalo is the man that just moved into said apartment, or stories like "The Lake House" where Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves are fated but living in different timelines, then you'll like this!
Jillian moves into a new apartment, and surprise! She starts getting haunted by a ghost. A ghost who can't remember who he is. He helps her get back into life, thriving at work, and going out on some dates. But in reality, the two are falling in love with each other. But again...the man is a ghost.
Until...Daniel disappears.
What follows will spoil a whole bunch of the story, but the Jillian has to first find Daniel (and pray he hasn't moved on to the other side) and make him remember her.
This was good, and fun, and I can pretty much expect any Sarah Ready book to be a 4 star read.
That being said, it was a BIT long, clocking in at 14 hours for a contemporary romance. Book 2 is also great and is much shorter.
This book really just took me for a ride. I loved the build up, the character development, and the writing. I would definitely read more from this author!
4.75⭐, 2🌶️
What a whirlwind of a story! It felt a tad long at times, but Jillian and Daniel kept me invested the entire time. You really get two love stories in this book (no I can't elaborate further) and it was so exciting at the 50% mark to see the change of plot! I loved all the personal growth both have, and while I didn't get ANY of the science explained or Star Trek references, I still really enjoyed this audiobook! (I'm also very excited that Serena is getting her own story next!
Thank you NetGalley and W. W. Crown for an ALC o Ghosted by Sarah Ready, narrated by Sarah Naughton and Rob Brinkman.
This plot is straight-up bonkers, but totally worth it so stick with it. The summary is basically Jillian moves into a new apartment, which is being haunted by a ghost. Who of course she falls in love with, only to have him disappear. But then (spoiler) it turns out that he is actually ALIVE and he was a ghost from the future and now she has to save him. It is a wild and ridiculous ride, but so much fun and completely charming.
The narrators were great!
I have read many books written by Sarah. However, this was not for me. I DNF the book around 75 percent. The story just did not feel like it could ever happen in real life. That was part of why I felt so disconnected. I am still excited to read more by Sarah.
Again, this was not personally for me. I am sure this title will be loved by many.
Thanks for the ARC. :)
