Jillian may be the columnist for the <i> The Daily Expose</i> where she answers questions about love, dating, sex, and marriage, but it doesn't mean she's experience all of those. Infact, Jillian can't even talk to men, so when Daniel shows up at her apartment out of nowhere, she very quickly discovers she can talk to Daniel (After almost bashing him with a bat and throwing her <i>Star Trek</i> model at his head). Thats just her luck - The one man she can talk to is a ghost.
Daniel thinks it's his afterlife job, to save Jillian's non-existent love life, and help her career, before her boss gives her the sack for her 'hopeless romantic' columnist advice that doesn't work.

<b><i> 'Apparently Daniel is very protective of me, and also of who gets to eat vicariously with me' </i></b>

Before long, Jillian finds herself in an unusual position with Daniel, the ghost, and she needs to tell him the truth.

Both Sarah and Rob did a fantastic job. I didn't pick up on any missed or incorrect words. Additionally, the quality was great.
Only criticism I have is between chapters, the gap is too big (too much silence, several times I thought I bumped my phone and stopped the audio)
_______

This book had everything you need for a 5-star read.
The plotline was fantastic, the banter had me in fits of laughter, the characters were loveable, not just the main characters. It just gave me so much joy reading it. <i><b>Ghosted</i></b>, left me crying happy tears.

I must admit, I am a huge movie buff, so when I realised the storyline is similar to <i> Just Like Heaven</i>, I thought I had this book pegged. I was wrong, so so wrong.

Jillian has a ghost haunting her apartment. The apartment in question is shady, but it's all she could afford, moving to New York. Mirrors cover every surface; It was definitely used for sexy times, there is no doubt about it.
Jillian tried to question Daniel about his <i>'past life'</i> to try and get him to <i>'move on'</i>. Daniel can only remember little snippets of his life. Yachts, women in bikinis, a mountain lake, gambling in Monaco, clubs in Paris (Jillian knew he was a playboy, I mean LOOK at this sex den apartment). Daniel is adamant about two things, and that is: <i><u>HE ISN'T DEAD!</u></i> and he knows Jillian - they are friends. That isn't possible according to Jillian.

<b> You can see why I thought this was the same storyline as 'Just Like Heaven'</b>
I'm over here thinking, '<i>We'll of course he doesn't think he's dead, he must be in hospital somewhere, that's why every time he disappears on Jillian at the apartment, all he sees is 'black'. Man is in a freakin' coma, laying in a hospital bed somewhere. </i> He isn't dead, but he is in limbo, so to speak.

The only way to convince Daniel, he is dead and misguided, is to take him to a psychic.
The age-old story: Spirits linger, because they have unfinished business. Daniels gets it into his head, that he needs to get Jillian's dating life back on track, help her communicate with men, and help save her career (Jillian's boss has given her, one last chance to turn her dating and relationship advice Column around)

<b><i> 'You're the women who went on a hundred terrible dates because you believed someone would see you for you'</i></b>

This can't be a romance story, without some romance. Ghost Daniel and Jillian find themselves catching feelings for each other, and what started out as a simple mission - 'Help Daniel move on', has turned into something more. Something that neither of them, can explain or want to end.

<b><i> 'You don't want a living, breathing man? You don't want someone who can give you a life'</i></b>

With the success at work and her dating life, one day, Daniel disappears without warning, and just never comes back. Jillian waits and waits and waits.... It has been weeks since she saw Daniel and she's miserable. Aimlessly searching for her ghost, going through the motions. Daniel must have finally moved on? Thats what she wanted right? That was the goal afterall!

When Fran sets Jillian up for yet another disastrous date, following a hundred or more unsuccessful dates before Daniels appearance, Jillian isn't expecting to see him. He's back.... Daniel is not a ghost? He's real!
<u>PLOT TWIST:</u> Daniel doesn't know who she is. <i><b>Sigh! My poor heart!</b></i>
Now, Jillian decides, she must make Daniel remember her. With the help of a work colleague, she's able to track Daniel and find out everything about him. As she inserts herself into his life. <b><i> Only some light good-natured stalking here ;) </i></b>
Daniel and Jillian can finally be together (Its short lived - not even 1 night together)- queue the drama: Daniel finding out she's tracked him, and now he thinks Jillian is a stalker.
Jillian tries explaining the <i>'Crazy true story'</i> of them, but this only cements to Daniel, that this woman he thought he knew is unwell and not who he thought she is.
And that's when it happens.
Thats when Daniel dies.

You'll have to read it to find out the ending, but it's a plot twist on-top of a plot twist, that will have you sobbing, and throwing the book.
Don't get me wrong, this is a HEA but it's one, that will stay with you for a long time.

Thank you again to Sarah Ready, the publisher W.W. Crown, and NetGalley for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks NetGalley, Publisher and Sarah for this arc.

This is not my first book by Sarah Ready but its different from others in the premise that it talks about timelines, universes and ghost, a hot one at that 😏.

Jillian and our ghost, Daniel meet the first day she shifts to her new apartment. They don't hit it off right away, I mean just think you move to a new place and bam, a ghost is there to greet you, well Jillian kinda the same but she talks with him which surprises her since she normally can't talk with alive men, so she doubts it herself, is he alive or not?

Jillian is determined to help Daniel get to afterlife and she does all that could be done. As time passes, things happen and we get to know why Daniel is only ever around Jillian and it all makes perfect romance between them except they are only there to help each in someway. He teaches her of love, to be open and she teaches him to eat imaginary food.

It's a good story where our side characters have their own romance, the story line of second leads is fireeeee, the friends and family members make the book more interesting to keep listening of. The narrator's way of expressing is clear.

Reading with both my eyes and ears for this one. I also did that with French Holiday by the same author, and enjoyed it.
The narration was great, clear and easy to follow, and the story has sucked me right in!

Jillian has just moved into a new studio apartment, sight unseen. The small size, skeevy mirroring of every surface and a few other details have her down, but between location and price she’s still willing to give it a go.
Daniel - the half naked guy that appears after she’s safely locked away inside, and then *literally* disappears as she tries to fend him off with a bat - was more than she bargained for.

Our ghostly friend Daniel thinks his unfinished business is saving her job and finding the cripplingly unable to speak to men Jillian love. Unfortunately, even though it works in that she starts to fall for someone, it’s not someone she thinks she can have (it’s him)

I don’t want to give too much of the plot away, but I’ll tell you that when Daniel disappears? That’s when the story got Really Interesting to me. Unraveling what happened to him and how she could find her way back to being together with him was a trip.
This book was a little mysterious in a timey-wimey sci-fi way, dramatic and a whole lot of fun. There were a couple times I was seriously questioning how a HEA could come out of it all, but I shouldn’t have doubted!

Thanks to NetGalley, WW Crown and IBPA for the ARC!

Thank you NetGalley, and Crown Publishing for the audio ARC of Ghosted, by Sarah Ready. Having just read The Space Between, which was a 5 star read, this one just isn’t as good. I like the characters and the audio narrators were awsome. The story starts out great! I love that Jillian falls in love with Daniel, who is a ghost. Then there is time travel involved and I lost some interest in it.

Honestly, I wasn’t a huge fan of this one. After reading a couple of her books and loving those, I was expecting a bit more.

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest rating and review.

This book is …. weird! Parts of it came across super cute, but other parts were just plain bizarre. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to fall in love with a ghost who then becomes a living human, this is the book to you. But in all seriousness, I found a lot of the “realistic” portions of this book way more far fetched than the sci-fi portions!

Sarah Ready is showing herself to be a remarkably talented and versatile writer. Ghosted is categorized as a romance, and I briefly feared while reading that it would turn out to be one of “those” romances that definitely don't deserve the name. But she pulled it off, beautifully! I also wondered how similar it would turn out to be to last year's The Dead Romantics, and while there are common threads, Ghosted is a uniquely lovely book. Jillian longs for a meaningful, romantic relationship but has enormous problems even speaking to men (one criticism: it takes too long to find out the cause of the difficulty), but when a "ghost" turns up in her new apartment, they hit it off. Daniel insists they know/knew each other and are already close. And although Jillian is perplexed, the joy and ease she finds in this too-good-to-be-true love affair overcome her hesitation. But ghost/human relationships are doomed to endure plot twists, if nothing else, and plot twists do indeed ensue. Ms. Ready's recent work includes romantic comedies, a heart-wrenching (but still romantic!) love story: The Space Between, and now this delightful surprise. I look forward to seeing what else she has coming.

When Jillian moves into her new apartment she thought that the strangest thing was going to be the decor. But the mirrors covering the walls, roof and just about every surface as well as shag pile carpets and a raised platform bed are the least of her worries.

There are a few books and movies out there with a similar plot line (see The Dead Romantics, which I also really enjoyed) and I was expecting this one to follow a pretty straight line from start to finish, but I was pleasantly surprised. I always spend the whole time I’m reading a book trying to guess the plot points and twists, but this book had me with no idea what the hell was happening or what was going to happen next. (I was definitely having a little sob in my car when Jillian was explaining her past)

It did get a little slow for me in the middle and seemed to drag out a bit. I was thinking the story was going to wrap up when I noticed there was still five hours of the story to go. Luckily the end brought it home and even the background characters had my chest clenching as their stories wrapped up.

Oh and if you’re wondering if she gets some ghost dick. Yes. She pretty much does.

4.5 stars - rounded up.

So this is my first ever paranormal romance and I wasn't sure how I would feel about it. I absolutely adored it. So we meet Gillian who has just moved to strange NYC apartment, and we get straight into the action and find out it is haunted by a ghost. Not any ghost though, a hot shirtless ghost called Daniel.

Gillian is a relationship expert columnist but she struggles to even talk to a man in reality, so she is relying on this bachelor ghost to help her out with relationships. However, Gillian and Daniel realise that they quite like each other and he starts to want to sabotage all of her dates instead of helping her. I think that is all I will say about the plot as it takes quite an unexpected turn!

Gillian is not your typical FMC, she is shy and geeky. She genuinely doesn't have men falling to her feet, so it is amazing to see her development and her confidence grow. Daniel has a lot of character development too, and it is heart-breaking to see him deny being dead.

There are lots of amazing side characters. You end up laughing out loud and wanting to know more about these characters too. I absolutely adored this book, and I am hoping there might be another one exploring Gillian's co-worker,

I felt that this book was a little too long which is why this book lost .5 stars. However, it did not take away much love I have for this book!!! I cannot wait to go and buy a physical copy.

I'll be honest, when I first started this book I was definitely wishing I had listened to sample first, because there is no way I would have downloaded this book if I had. The descriptions of Daniel had me rolling my eyes so hard. The author was trying way too hard to drive a point across that this guy is sexy, which ended up having the opposite effect, leaving me annoyed and disgusted. I wanted to stop listening so badly, but also wanted to give it a chance, since it was an ARC. Eventually the characters really did grow on me and I actually did enjoy it for the most part. There were parts that made me smile and laugh. I found myself really caring for the characters and caring about what happened to them. That being said, some parts were still pretty awkward, some things just felt dragged out, and the second epilogue was completely unnecessary when things were already tied together in a different way. I did get some enjoyment out of this book but it is still not something I would have picked for myself if I had played the sample before downloading.

Ghosted is a story of love, being lost, being found, and finding yourself in the process. Throw in the multiverse and paranormal activity, and you have a new romance novel that is not like any other.

Jillian writes a dating column for the paper she has worked at for the last 10 years, except none of her dates go past date number one, and she literally cannot talk to men. This, her terrible relationship advice is causing readership for the paper to tank and possibly threatening her job. On top of that, she has moved into a new apartment, that was clearly some kind of a sex palace before and it comes with Daniel, a very hunky, very dead ghost. Who will not leave. Weirdly, she CAN talk to him, which could be just the thing she needs to turn things around.

There is a lot to love about this novel. It was certainly a fun book to listen to and I would probably give the first half four stars but the second half fell flat for me, in fact, it felt like it was written by an entirely different author. I wanted to love it but it felt contrived and just didn’t land right for me. I would write more but there is way too much opportunity for spoilers, if I do. The narration was excellent and I have enjoyed what this author has written in the past. This one wasn’t a slam dunk for me, but I have read other reviews that were glowing… so take a listen to Ghosted and see what you think.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sarah Ready for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I would like to start by noting that I have read one other Sarah Ready book, and it was a pretty solid middle of the road 3 star title. I have no idea what happened here.

I usually try to be very kind, share constructive criticism, and really build out why I do not like a book when I give it one star. That will be EXCEPTIONALLY hard to do here. This is potentially the absolute worst book I have ever read.

When typing my notes as feedback as I listened, I wrote the phrase, "I HATE THIS BOOK" no less than 10 times. This book was long. SO MUCH LONGER than was even kind of necessary. Even listening at 3x speed to plow through it because I feel obligated to fully finish every ARC review copy was painful.

**PLEASE NOTE: FROM HERE ON, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS.**

15 minutes in, I started with the note "Oooh, this one is so cheesy and filled with cringe." I am sad to say, it only got worse from here.

Just a few notes from my stream-of-consciousness listening (I have removed all the times I wrote "I HATE THIS BOOK" for your own mental ease):
- How many times can something be made of reclaimed wood?!?!?

- Her job being suddenly saved makes no sense. Literally, it appears that because she had ghost sex they decided to keep her?

- The ONLY thing they have is that she can speak to him. WHY? What kind of relationship is that?

- She’s been on “hundreds” of first dates where she doesn't speak a word? I doubt that very much.

- Her childhood BFF dies, the mom is distraught, and then suddenly one day is like, “making sure you get fucked is going to be the thing that saves me”?!?! GROSS. (Before anyone things I'm being unfair or dramatic here, that's the actual word the mom uses.)

- She was out partying and loving college, but has apparently been painfully shy since childhood. That shit doesn’t add up. Which is it?

- I hate the whole, “Beautiful girl doesn’t know she’s beautiful, and punishes herself for something that wasn’t actually her fault” BS.

- “FMC is super damaged and everyone know it, all she needs is some dick, and she’s cured!” GROSS.

- A group of journalists are all willing to quit apparently extremely well paying jobs to rally for for her to keep hers?

- She’s “broke” a journalist with an apartment by herself in NY that can afford to eat out all the time?

- He’s been gone longer than she knew him, and she’s ready to totally give up on everything?

- This crew of investigative journalists work for a media mogul and don't ever think to wonder who he is?!

- I am very tired of the whole girl with mental health issues needs a man to fix her plot.

In conclusion, this is the worst book I have ever read. I do not understand how this was green lit when there are so many amazing authors out there struggling to get published. It made me want to burn cities and breathe fire while stomping buildings, a la Godzilla.

Not only do I not recommend this book, I want to scream from the rooftops to authors and publishers everywhere to do better with their resources. This is not ok, on so many levels.

Those poor narrators. I hope they were compensated very well to have to read this for 14+ hours of their lives.

I can't even sign off with my standard, "Thank you NetGalley and WW Crown for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own." label, because I want my time from this ARC back. OOOOOF.

The synopsis of this story intrigued me, as it gave me The Dead Romantics vibes. I was curious how this story would be different. I enjoyed the author’s writing style very much and the audiobook was perfectly narrated. While there was not a ton of character development, I feel like these characters’ personalities were detailed very well. The relationship between these two was magnetic and they were destined to be together in any lifetime or timeline. I absolutely loved these two together and felt like they couldn’t be apart no matter how hard they tried. This book blew me away. I could not stop reading it. I initially went in thinking it was going to be a knock-off of The Dead Romantics, but it was different and exciting. I loved how the story turned out.

Thank you to W. W. Crown for making both the digital written and the audiobook review copies of this book available on NetGalley. I alternated between reading and listening for this review.

A fun ghostie romance perfect for spooky season. I didn’t love the audiobook, it felt awkward and the inflection was strange. The dialogue especially didn’t sound natural.

But overall I enjoyed the characters and the writing. I liked the pacing and the overall concept. Maybe it was just me but I wasn’t able to guess what was happening so the story kept me engaged the whole time.

The premise of the book really caught my interest! I had read another book by the same author and found it lacking. There has been vast improvement on her part when comparing the two works. I will definitely be recommending this book to others!

I love Sarah Ready books. They are a must read for me. Seriously, if you have not read one of her books, you are missing out! Ghosted is an enticing paranormal romance that I found to be delightful and wonderfully narrated. As with her other books, I found this book to be gripping from the beginning and I was instantly transported into the world of Jillian and Daniel. Sarah Ready knows how to create characters that I care about. This book was not only thought provoking, but it was emotion evoking as well.

Jillian Negat writes articles about dating and relationships. Which is funny since she is socially awkward around men, barely able to speak in complete sentences around them. After she moves into a small apartment in NYC, she is soon met with a sexy shirtless man named Daniel, who just happens to be dead. Yep, her apartment is inhibited by a ghost. A ghost who initially isn't aware he is dead and has no idea how he got into her apartment or why he is there. He also is not able to recall what his former life was like.

After they get over their initial shock of seeing each other, they begin to have fun and interesting banter. As Jillian and Daniel begin to know each other, Jillian finds that there is one man with whom she can comfortably talk. Daniel goes on a mission to help Jillian improve her articles to increase her readership and to find love. Once he succeeds, he can move on. Can't he?

This was a delightful tale of paranormal love. I enjoyed how the characters interacted. Both were likeable and I enjoyed seeing Jillian become more self-confident and assertive. She also comes to terms with a painful part of her past and learns to forgive herself. This book does take a little leap of faith as one character is a ghost, but it is so worth it. This book had just the right amount of love, longing, humor, talk of Star Trek (Yes, Star Trek!). I enjoy how Sarah Ready works her characters likes/interests into her books with ease. Fans of Sarah Ready will enjoy this book.

I listened to the audiobook and loved the narrators. They did a fantastic job. I highly recommend listening to this book.

Well written, delightful, sweet, and hard to put down! I can't wait to read what Sarah Ready writes next.

Jillian can not talk to men due to a traumatic event years ago. When she moves into a new apartment, she finds out it's already lived in, by David who turns out to be a ghost. Jillian finds out it's easier to talk to a ghost than real men. David promises to help her with work at the online news site, and with her dating life. Jillian on the other hand is trying to help David 'move on'.

I found the premise intriguing. The prose is really beautiful, flowing and descriptive, but also quite rambling. I do not like insta-love and actually could not really see why Jillian and David made such a good couple. Of course they are both drop-dead-gorgeus, but isn't there more to love than looks? And the ghost sex was so cringey. I really liked the side characters, though. They were a mixed bunch of fun sidekicks. Jillian is a Trekkie and the book was full of neat references to Star Trek. There is this paranormal/magical realism theme that made the story plausible if not entirely believable. This book was a little too long to hold my interest the whole time. I did like the story, though and the ending was nice.

I listened to the audiobook and Sarah Naughton's narration was awesome. Rob Brinkman read the epilogue and did a great job as well.

Lovely story. At first I thought I was reading a version of Just Like Heaven and then maybe another version of The Dead Romantics. Ghosted is neither of these and has a little twist and it's fun. Two people falling in love, but not at the same time as their whole selves. It's confusing but very sweet. This was really wordy, like Stephen King wordy--lots of unnecessary details and setting descriptions. Way too much content with Jillian's work. Serena was my favorite character--will she be getting a book?!?!? Narrator did a wonderful job. Thanks to NetGalley for an audio ARC

Thank you to NetGalley, Sarah Ready, Dreamscape Media & Swift & Lewis Publishing for an audio ARC of Ghosted in exchange for an honest review. This review is wholly my own & may not be reproduced (excepted quoted synopsis).

"Jillian Nejat is the only dating and relationship expert on the planet who is incapable of speaking to men. If they’re living, if they’re breathing, it’s game over. With her bank account at zero, her career a dumpster fire, and her dating life in a ten-year slump, she moves into a tiny, dirt-cheap NYC apartment. Unfortunately, the apartment is already occupied. Daniel (no-last-name) is a sexy, shirtless, six-pack wielding heartthrob who is also…dead. He isn’t living. He isn’t breathing. He’s a ghost. He’s also the only man on the planet who Jillian can talk to. Soon, Daniel’s convinced that it’s his afterlife mission to resurrect Jillian’s love life. He knows, if he helps her fall in love then he can move on. Jillian agrees. The last thing she needs is a Lothario ghost haunting her living room. But then, one practice date leads to another, one confession leads to more, and suddenly Jillian fears she’s falling for the one man she can never have."

This was a solid 4-star romance for me. I LOVE paranormal in general, but combined with romance (one of my fave genres), it's irresistible! This title releases September 26, 2023 and I HIGHLY recommend snagging a copy!

The narration by Sarah Naughton & Rob Brinkman as Jillian & Daniel was perfection. The main characters and their unconventional romance was adorable and you're just going to love them. I grew up watching Star Trek with my dad, so I loved all the Star Trek references.

Sarah Ready is a fabulous author who never fails to deliver. I'd been listening to too many suspense/thrillers lately and really needed a "palate cleanser" and this was the perfect book to give me that. LOVED it!
