I want to start by saying Sarah Ready is a favorite author of mine. The Space Between is a top book of the year for me. I enjoy paranormal romance, just LOVED Belladonna. This just wasn't for me.
I know Sarah's books are consistently long, but this one really didn't need to be at all. There were a lot of things in this one that just didn't sit well with me. The spicy scenes with the ghost were awkward and strange. The amount of Star trek was really hard for someone with 0 knowledge of Star Trek. I was often left confused and wondering how there was so much of the book left when we were getting our ending now....
Basically it ends about 4 times.
I loved the premise of the book and the side characters were great. Unfortunately this one just isn't for me.
Thank you Netgalley+ Sarah for the opportunity to read & listen to this one.

Thank you to W. W. Crown for making both the digital written and the audiobook review copies of this book available on NetGalley. I alternated between reading and listening for this review.
This book follows Jillian, a chronically shy woman (to the point of muteness) living in New York and working as a journalist writing a communication and love column (this is acknowledged to be ironic within the book, which I enjoyed). She moves into a new apartment and ends up being confronted by a … ghost, Daniel. He is (of course) half naked, attractive, and also doesn’t believe he’s dead.
As the book follows Jillian and Daniel, I obviously had to suspend my disbelief at certain points, given the paranormal aspects. I did struggle with some things that happened around halfway through and I nearly didn’t continue, but I pushed through (it was only a very short section that frustrated me), and I’m glad I did. The characters and their relationships (both with each other and with others) were very cute and although there was the classic miscommunication trope (which I am not normally a fan of), I think it was actually handled well. The whole ghost storyline was also handled in a pretty satisfactory way.
I also enjoyed the side characters’ banter throughout, particularly at Jillian’s workplace.
Overall this was a cutesy read and was pretty quick to get through. The audiobook narrators were also great.
Thank you so much for letting me listen to this audiobook. This is a very entertaining and also thought provoking story and I very much enjoyed it.
Here's the thing about me: you say ghostly romance, and I am in—no questions asked. Jillian moves into a new apartment in New York, and sure, the décor makes it look like a porn set, but this is her own space, away from her parents. As soon as she moves in though, she realizes that the apartment is already occupied by a sexy ghost named Daniel.
I'll start with the positives. I've read a number of ghostly romances, but Sarah Ready's version is unique. I really like the way the author incorporated the ghostly trope. The first thing I usually wonder is how can a ghost and a human live HEA? Let's just say that I really like the author's version of that. I had never come across it before, but it worked especially well here. To be honest, I only kept reading this book because I wanted to know how Jillian and Daniel would live HEA. I'm glad I pushed through because I liked the resolution of the ghostly situation.
But I also have so many issues with this book and I don't even know where to start. Don't get me wrong, the prose is good, but the story is waaaayyyyyy too long. The first half of the story falls victim to long-winded play by play narration. There are so many lengthy descriptions of superfluous things, making the book longer than it should be. I also did not like the insta-love. I literally could not understand how Jillian and Daniel fell in love so quickly?? Not to mention that Jillian was super clingy with Daniel, even though she knew nothing about the man. Daniel was also immediately jealous of Jillian's dates, but I think his jealousy made a bit more sense after we find out the truth behind his ~ghostliness~ I think what bugged me the most is that Jillian and Daniel didn't even try to figure out why he was haunting her LOL. They just assumed he was here to help her with her love life and her advice column. But they didn't even try to figure out who he was, how he died, and why he's linked to her only. They were both so focused on him being here to help her, without ever questioning WHY. It was so annoying and frustrating.
I had such a hard time with Jillian omg. She was just so stupid. She wanted Daniel to stay with her even though he was dead LOL. Instead of wanting him to move on to "the light," she selfishly wanted him to haunt her for the rest of her life. She was so disgustingly needy. Also, the ghost sex scenes were WEIRD LOL. I'm sorry, she literally could not feel anything except for cold breezes. Please explain to me how she was able to find pleasure?? I'm so confused!!
As for the second half of the story, it was interesting enough, especially after finding out the truth behind Daniel's ghostliness. But I still found Jillian super irritating with the way she kept inserting herself into other people's lives. I just could not stand her. The climax was fine...but the conflict leading to the climax was stupidly executed.
Anyway...I kind of rambled. I really wish I loved this one. The concept is interesting. The prose is good. The execution and the characters are just not my cup of tea. I didn't buy into the romance at all. Honestly, it's not the worst book I've ever read, but I just did not like it overall.
P.S. Is Jillian Persian? Why is her white mom named Geeta? I'm so confused. I have questions about Jillian's background.
P.P.S. Not one, but two epilogues. This book is unnecessarily long. The second epilogue is told from Daniel's POV, but not even that made me happy. I just wanted the book to be over.
Jillian Nejat moved into a new apartment in New York. The apartment has mirrors everywhere. When her parents and Fran leave, she sees a man standing in her locked apartment. She realizes it is a ghost named Daniel. He is stuck in New York and says she is a bright light that he can't ignore.
Daniel realizes he is a ghost with unfinished business. He decides helping Jillian with her love life is his unfinished business. They come up with a plan for how Daniel can help her talk to men. She is able to talk to him but not a man that is alive. They end up falling in love with each other. The night they admit their love for each other Daniel disappears for good (or so she thought).
A week or two later Jillian is spending the day with Fran. Fran is taking her to meet yet another man she wants to set Jillian up with. On the steps, Jillian sees Daniel and runs up to him and gives him a kiss. The problem is Daniel doesn't remember anything from their time together when he was a ghost. Jillian begins to show up where ever he is to try and get him to remember. After she saves him and he pushed her away, he finally remembers everything. They end up working things out and falling more in love with each other.
I really enjoyed Sarah Naughton and Bob Brinkman's narration for the audiobook.
I absolutely adored this book! Jill moved into a NY apartment no questions asked. However, she isn't the only one occupying the space. I wasn't sure about the concept of Jill falling for a ghost. I was totally wrong and found myself rooting for Daniel multiple times. I also loved her work environment and coworkers.
Thank you so much NetGallery for this Audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of this book (thank you!) for both audio and ebook versions. I absolutely loved this story. The ultimate romance for all "Trekkies" out there!
This audio book was so enjoyable to listen to, I often listen to audio books while I'm doing chores around the house to pass the time, however this is a story that I listened to everywhere and all the time! The narrator is perfect to fit the romance plot, but to me she was Jillian! I also loved the added voice for an alternative pov in the second epilogue. However a part of me wishes that the second voice narrator that portrayed Daniel would have been consistent throughout the entirety of the audio book.
Ghosted is a beautifully written book about the trials and tribulations of finding yourself as well as the one you love. It also very much gives similar vibes to the 2005 film "Just Like Heaven".
It is so easy to connect to Jillian, a long time Star Trek fan and a romance columnist that has no idea how to talk to men. Jillian's backstory is very interesting to read about which sets the tone for most of this book.
Daniel (Jillian's love interest) is also instantly very likeable with great sarcastic humour while also learning to come to terms with his own reality.
The spice levels for this plot are perfectly well balanced and I love the fact that there is plenty of science and philosophical related facts to fill the gaps within the romance rich plot. I'm a nerd so this was something that made Ghosted an even better read.
There was a great plot twist which I did not see coming, which made me feel a wide range of emotions.
Ghosted is a book that really did fill me "with joy, with love, with gratitude" and it is a book that I can highly recommend and I look forward to reading more from this author.
Ghosted written by Sarah Ready and wonderfully narrated by Sarah Naughton and Rob Brinkman was a delightful listen!
I enjoyed all the characters, even the odd ones became likeable with redeeming qualities. It's a sweet story with a nice twisted premise taking the story line in a much different direction than you first expect. I hope this author keeps bringing us hopeful tales of Great Loves and Friendships. A most pleasant escape, highly recommend!
Thanks to Net Galley and WW Crown, IBPA and Members' Audiobooks for the opportunity to listen to this ARC.
✨Arc review of Ghosted by Sarah Ready
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I LOVED THIS BOOK (thanks @netgalley )
It's definitely not my normal read. The spice level is 🫑 but the yearning had me kicking my feet. The storyline isn't just "There's a hot ghost in my apartment" either. There's also emotional healing and a surprise plot twist that I obviously cannot reveal but it's GOOD. I was listening to the audio and ran to grab the ebook because I had to finish it late into the night. Did I cry under my covers at the end? MAYBE, BUT YOULL NEVER GET THAT INFORMATION OUT OF ME 😅

I have my review posted on my Bookstagram account. I thought this one was great! I gave it 4.5/5 stars. Here is the text of the review I posted:
Sarah Ready has become one of my most recent favorite authors and an autobuy author now! Ghosted did not disappoint, however my favorite is still The Space Between. Ghosted is such a fresh, unique take on a paranormal romance. Felt like such an epic love story. The Star Trek references were lots of fun. My only complaint and reason it wasn’t 5 stars is that the story had some lulls with pacing. It could have been trimmed down a bit.
Ghosted is about when Jillian moves into a new apartment to find a shirtless great looking man Daniel is also there, and just happens to be a ghost! Jillian works as a dating and relationship expert but has struggled with relationships her whole life. Daniel quickly is there to help with that. But Daniel has the inkling he knows Jillian even though they have never met. Daniel will disappear at some point and you can’t have romantic feelings for a ghost right?!
This audiobook was funny, heartfelt, charming and swoon worthy. Would recommend!
Thank you NetGalley and W.W. Crown for the free advance listening copy in exchange for a review! It was available as a listen now option but officially releases on September 26.
Jillian is a dating and relationship advice columnist, but outside of work she just can't talk to men. When her career is threatened, Jillian moves in to a new apartment - but didn't realise it came with a guest. Daniel is a sexy, shirtless, six-pack wielding heartthrob who is also very dead. He’s a ghost. He’s also the only man on the planet who Jillian can talk to. Together they make plans to help the both of them to help Daniel move on with his life.
Sarah Ready gave me a unique twist on the "hot ghost lover" I've been seeing lately. Taking a more sci-fi approach (heads up for Trekkies - there's a lot in this one) to explain things and take the story on more than one journey. I genuinely expected on thing and then before I knew it, it was being turned on its head and we headed in a completely different direction. I managed to binge this is one sitting, however it did feel a little on the longer side as there were some chapters that could have been cut down just a tiny bit more. That is the only reason it never made it to the five star range.
I really liked this story and the ghost plot was fun, if a little weird at times. I think the narrator did a good job keeping me immersed in the story and was very easy to listen to. This book broke me and then put me back together, made me cry happy and sad tears and I really enjoyed all of the characters. I thought I knew where the story was going to go but it ended up not happening the way I predicted. I liked the way the author took it and how she wrote the ending. I didn't quite understand Jillian's unableness to speak to men but all of a sudden she was just able to do it again. There were a lot of Star Trek references but as someone who doesn't know/care about Star Trek, they didn't bother me. I think this was a pretty fast paced romance and if you've enjoyed the authors previous books, you will probably enjoy this one. You just have to be okay with paranormal romance and probably suspend your disbelief.
Thank you to NetGalley and W.W. Crown for an ALC in exchange for my honest review.
What a different take on a romance read, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book as well as loving the story and characters. The narrators were great and easy to listen to and kept me captivated for the entire book reading. I loved the entire premise of this story and was hooked right away. This is the third book Ive read from this author and I find myself now looking for new books from her. Her books are easy to read, and have some great character development. Who wouldn’t want to fall in love with a sexy attractive ghost who is living in your new apartment?
I voluntarily received a free copy of this audiobook and all opinions are my own
I would recommend this book to my friends, family and book clubs
Jillian has social awkwardness, she can't talk to men she could date, but she is still trying to date even though they are more of a monologue than a dialogue.
The first day at her new apartment a suprise is waiting for her there in a form of a half dressed man who funny enough she has no problem talking to. Which is strange, but not so strange as she soon realises that this man is actually a ghost.
Daniel doesn't remember much about his life, he has only some glimpses of it, the only thing he knows is that he is drawn to Jillian. He thinks that he is send to help her, so he takes it upon him to follow her everywhere she goes, he identifies the areas she needs his assistance and he is more than happy to provide it.
Jillian is more than skeptical at first but it seems like she must let him help her, so that she can help him in return. They are spending all their time together, trying to fix her work and dating life but the pull they feel to each other only grows stronger the more time passes.
This is a fell good romance, with steam and a very serendipitous feeling. I loved how they first became friends and how supportive they were to the other. They were ready to fight in order to keep their love in any way they could.
I read and listened to both the audiobook and ebook and I loved both formats so much. The audiobook was wonderful, both narrators were great and it was lovely how they brought the story to life.
* I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Sarah Ready has done it again, wowed me with her writing. Ghosted is a paranormal love story, which aren’t always my favorite. In this story, socially distant and quirky Jillian believes wholeheartedly in soulmates and love for who you are completely. She writes an advice column about love answering readers questions on a topic she herself has no real experiences in. Daniel shows up in her new, creepy, apartment and inserts himself in her life. This story follows the relationship that builds between them. How beautiful that Jillian grows and gains so much in this book. 4 ⭐️ s!
Thank you Net Galley for providing me this ARC, this review is my honest opinion! Sarah Ready I am a fan— and I have just lined up so more of your backlist on my kindle!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the audio book in exchange for an honest review!
I wasn't sure exactly what to expect from a paranormal romance, but I love the other books by Sarah Ready so I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm so glad I did! Although Ghosted is not your typical romance (there is a ghost involved after all!), it had just the right amount of steaminess and enough back story to have you rooting for the characters. This was not an emotional read for me but I think that's just because the story line was a little too far fetched to get me emotionally invested. I still thought the book was great and would recommend to anyone who is a fan of Sarah Ready and romance novels in general.
I liked the idea for this. Reminded me of that Reese Witherspoon movie, Just Like Heaven.
The MC moves into a new apartment and it is haunted by a ghost that she falls in love with said ghost.
This book got quite a bit more explicit that the movie, and it was weird, but to each their own.
My problem with this is that it felt like it went on FOREVER.
This could have been two books easily and likely still too long. There was just far too much crammed into this one. Every time I thought it would be a nice place to wrap it up there would be 5+ hours left on the audio. I will be interested to try another one of Sarah Ready's books to see if it was a fluke or a common occurrence.
Thank you NetGalley & Independent Book Publishers Association for my ALC.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ - 4.5 stars
I received Ghosted from NetGalley to review. The narrator was full of emotion in all of the right places. She really brought scenes to life.
We meet Jillian as she's moving into her new apartment in New York, the mirrored, sex-den of an apartment. As soon as her family leaves, she starts to unpack when a half-naked man appears out of nowhere. Jillian freaks out, throwing things at the man (Daniel). When he disappears she immediately calls her best friend and the conversation turns to science and ghosts! Jillian falls asleep that night wondering about the half-naked man and if he will be back.
When Daniel shows back up the next morning while Jillian is in the shower, things get interesting! Daniel cannot remember anything except that he knows Jillian. Jillian swears she hasn't met Daniel. As the two try to figure out who Daniel is, and how to navigate Jillian's dating life and work issues, they develop a strong bond. Will they figure out who Daniel is and how they know each other? Will one of Jullian's dates be 'the one'? While at times it seemed the book was a little too long, I'm not sure what part I would cut to make it shorter!
SPOILERS AHEAD:
I read 'The Seven Year Slip' a few weeks before reading this book. When we learned that Daniel is in fact a ghost I was convinced he was in a coma similar to 'The Seven Year Slip.' I was pleasantly surprised to find out that wasn't the case. While I don't understand all of the time slips and alternative realities (maybe I need to re-read some of those parts), I love that they were saving each other.
My favorite part of the entire book is Daniel saying that Jillian was his light in the darkness. That he could always find his light!!! At the end of the book, we learn what happens in the alternative and how Daniel made his way to Jillian originally. I love that after only a short period of time, Daniel knew Jillian was the piece to brighten his life.
This is way out of my genre preference BUT I was enthralled. This story offers so much!
Paranormal romance doesn’t even begin to describe the depth contained here.
Fate, Love and forgiveness paralleled my laughter and heart racing suspense.
Did I mention alternate timelines/dimensions and Star Trek fandom.? That one conspiracy co worker that may not be so crazy after all.
I was so invested in the characters I found myself looking forward to them appearing again.
Seriously, I’m blown away that this 14 hour audiobook consumed most of the last 2 days.
I will Be reading Sarah Ready again and recommend this book to every reader I know.
Thank you Sarah for getting me out of my comfort zone.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book in return for an honest review.
This book was so sweet! It takes on so many turns and you are hoping for the best the whole time. It starts off so strong but towards the end it started to fall for me, just a little! This book has a little bit of everything in and the romance is adorable. I would definitely recommend this book! I wish her friend or Fran was in the book a little bit more so it wasn’t so focused on just the romance. The narrator was amazing! She was really captivating and kept the story moving nicely! She did a great job with the different characters’ voices. Would definitely listen to more books from this narrator.
