I really loved this novel from Sarah Ready and it may even be one of my favorites from her. I instantly fell in love with the main characters, Jillian and Daniel. Throughout the story, Ready took her readers on a rollercoaster ride of feelings while provoking all the thoughts and emotions. I loved the paranormal aspect, as well.
I had a hard time putting this one down and couldn’t wait to know how it would wrap up, while simultaneously never wanting it to end! I can’t wait for the next in the series to be released.
From an audiobook perspective- I felt the narrators did a fantastic job and really enjoyed listening to them.
The character and plot development allow the reader to get attached and develop emotions. This is perfect for when the rising action starts to take place it allows the plot to have much more depth. As soon as I finish this one I immediately looked to see if she was coming out with a second book in the series and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was also being released soon.
Jillian is struggling to succeed as a dating and relationship expert, probably because she can't actually speak to men she is unfamiliar with. Needless to say, she doesn't have a deep well to draw from. When she moves into a new apartment in NYC that is haunted by a ghost who is her every dream, she is shocked to find she can speak with him. Well at least after the screaming part. Because he's a ghost!
As Jillian struggles to save her job and find a way to move forward with her life, it becomes increasing obvious to her that will have to be without Daniel.
I loved the way this book continued to surpise me!
"Ghosted" by Sarah Ready is a spellbinding paranormal romance that effortlessly held my attention from the first page to the last. It's a book that kept me eagerly turning pages, making it impossible to put down. The narrative skillfully weaves together the engaging story of Jillian and Daniel, immersing readers into a captivating world of the supernatural.
Jillian is a writer specializing in dating and relationship advice, which is a comically ironic situation – as she is socially awkward around men and can barely string a sentence together around them. She moves into her new small apartment in the heart of NYC that just so happens to be haunted. Enter Daniel, a sexy and shirtless ghost, blissfully unaware of his demise and the reasons behind his spectral presence in Jillian's life. The premise sets the stage for a unique and entertaining tale.
Jillian and Daniel navigate their unusual connection. Daniel is on a mission to assist Jillian and becomes an integral part of her life, offering support and guidance with her articles to improve her readership as she is on the verge of getting fired if they do not improve. He believes this is what he must do to move on.
The narrative explores their evolving relationship, blending moments of humour with poignant scenes that delve into themes of love, loss, and second chances.
One of the book's strengths lies in the well-developed characters. Jillian and Daniel are likable and relatable, drawing readers into their emotional journey. Jillian's transformation from a socially awkward individual to a confident woman adds depth to the narrative, making her growth a compelling aspect of the story.
The paranormal element is expertly interwoven with the romantic plot, creating a heartwarming and humorous experience. The connection between the characters is palpable, making their journey through love and self-discovery thoroughly enjoyable.
In addition to the print version, I opted for the audiobook experience, and I must commend narrators Sarah Naughton and Rob Brinkman for their outstanding performance. Their narration skillfully brings the characters to life.
"Ghosted" caters to fans of heartwarming romance, offering a blend of supernatural elements and exploring profound themes. The novel is laced with humour, ensuring a delightful reading experience. I look forward to reading more from Sarah Ready and eagerly anticipating the release of Switched (book two in the Ghosted series) on February 20th, 2024.
I extend my gratitude to W. W. Crown, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Audiobooks, and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. Their support has allowed me to discover and share this captivating paranormal romance with fellow readers.
Ghosted was a light and fun paranormal rom com that is perfect to follow up after any heavier reads. It was basically like a Hallmark movie, but with more humor and spice and ghosts. Plenty of unbelievable moments, but I like to give my mind the ability to go anywhere an author wants to go and don't get too caught up in that type of thing. I love that the main character was a journalist. I definitely will read other titles by Sarah Ready!
Calling all lovers of "The Dead Romantics" or "The Seven Year Slip"!!! This book is similar in the level of paranormal and has great flow and writing style.
Sarah Ready is one of my favorite authors to spot on NetGalley I am always praying for an approval because her books are fun, fresh and romantic and Ghosted did not disappoint! This story follows Jillian who is down on her luck in love and looking for a place to stay. She takes a dirt cheap NYC apartment only to find it's already occupied with a heartthrob Daniel. But that's not the only problem ... he'd dead.
This book is fantastic with likable characters and a couple you want to root for even though you don't know how that would even work (haha). Jillian is shy and unable to talk to most people but when she meets Daniel and has no other choice she finds herself opening up and connecting. They have great banter and you root for them the whole time. I genuinely enjoyed this story and its' characters. I could not put it down.
HOW IS THIS BOOK SO UNDERRATED?! Seriously. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to add a little paranormal flare to their romance reading. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book!

This was a sweet paranormal romance that had you cheering the characters on to fall in love. The narration drew me in from the start and was flawless. I enjoyed this one and I highly recommend. I binged read this in one day!
This novel is a captivating and delightful read that exudes a fun and lovable vibe. The story is filled with love, mystery, and an irresistible charm that draws you in. The romance between the characters is so compelling that it makes you fall head over heels for the love interest. With its engaging narrative and lovable characters, it is a must-read for anyone who enjoys a heartwarming and entertaining romance novel while keeping you on your toes wondering where the story is going to lead.
Wasn't able to review this one, so I'm leaving a neutral rating as to hopefully not affect the average too much
This year I was introduced to the genre of paranormal romance so I wanted to give this one a try. Love loved it! Such a cute and creative spin on the romance genre. Lovable, relatable characters, and kept my interest from the very beginning. Have recommended to several others since reading.
I received the audiobook of Ghosted, and NetGalley has done a great job upgrading their in app book player!
Ghosted gave me all the Ghost movie feels, but made more sense. I laughed and cried. And by the end I was an emotional wreck. But it was all worth it. Jillian and Daniel’s chemistry is wonderful. And the whole story really shows how life can come full circle and surprise us.
I’m always happy to read a Sarah Ready book.
I was really excited for this since the last Sarah Ready book I listened to broke me in the best way. This one did not but it wasn’t bad. I built it up too much in my head. I enjoyed the story and the time travel-ish but there was too much left unexplained that I was disappointed in the ending. Definitely kept my attention though.
This is the third Sarah Ready book I read this year, and I am constantly amazed at how her books can all be so different and all incredible at the same time!
I feel like this year was the year of ghost/time travel romance, so it could have been easy for Ghosted to get lost in the mic, but Jillian and Daniel's story was a masterpiece! My favorite part was not knowing how it would turn out until the very end! My internal monologue for the entirety of this book was, "he can't be dead, can he? They're so perfect together, and she deserves to be able to go out in public with a corporeal version of this shirtless man. How will they find each other if he isn't dead? Will he remember her? Will she want him to?" truly kept me guessing until the very last second. This book was a sweet, swoony, and hilarious ride that kept me guessing from start to finish.
ghost romance novels are a little predictable for me but sarah ready has a way of writing her characters that i'm just happy to be along for the ride!!
this plot had such an interesting twist with jillian's character not being able to talk to ~living~ men and with a even more fun but easy way out twist with who daniel really is. sarah ready really does know how to write books with plots that surprise me a little.
the narrator was great and helped me enjoy the book more!!
thank you to the publisher for this audiobook arc!
This was a cute little read. The ending was a twist I didn't expect. I don't typically go for romances, but it reminded me a bit of that movie, Just Like Home and I thought it'd be fun! I was right :)
I really loved this story! It had me guessing the entire time why she could see the ghost and no one else could. Then when she found him in real life had me questioning everything! Would love to read more from this author because it was such a unique story.
Sarah Ready has quickly made her way to the top of my auto-read list. Ghosted was emotional, funny, and such a great read. The narrator also did a fabulous job!
Sarah Ready is easily becoming my go to author. Her love stories at first might make you predict what going happen next, like in any romance book, but she adds a twist that knocks you off and keeps you engaged into the story. Ghosted doesn’t don’t fall flat. I loved it.
