From the very first page of this book, I was stunned, mesmerised. Written with a ferocious passion that'll knock the wind out of you!

What a cute read! This was my first book by Sarah Ready, and it won’t be my last. I really enjoyed her writing style and her characters. The female main character reminded me of an Ali Hazelwood character, which was really fun - love to see strong, smart women! I also loved the side characters working at the newspaper. The romance was very cute, great chemistry (which can’t be easy to accomplish when half of the equation is a ghost!) and fun banter. Without giving any spoilers, my one complaint would be that the timeline stuff was a little bit hard to follow and I could have used a bit more exposition on how it worked. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this! The audio narrator was excellent - when the narration is done so well that I can crank it up to 3x speed and still understand every word, I know it’s super well done.

Jillian is a dating and relationship advice columnist, but outside of work she just can't talk to men. When her career is threatened, Jillian moves in to a new apartment - but didn't realise it came with a guest. Daniel is a sexy, shirtless, six-pack wielding heartthrob who is also very dead. He’s a ghost. He’s also the only man on the planet who Jillian can talk to. Together they make plans to help the both of them to help Daniel move on with his life.

Sarah Ready gave me a unique twist on the "hot ghost lover" I've been seeing lately. Taking a more sci-fi approach (heads up for Trekkies - there's a lot in this one) to explain things and take the story on more than one journey. I genuinely expected on thing and then before I knew it, it was being turned on its head and we headed in a completely different direction. I managed to binge this is one sitting, however it did feel a little on the longer side as there were some chapters that could have been cut down just a tiny bit more. That is the only reason it never made it to the five star range.

Thank you to NetGalley, W. W Crown and Sarah Ready for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. Ghosted is set for release 26rd September, 2023.

DNF at 17%

Initially I loved the concept; I was hoping for either a romcom or something heartfelt but the MCs literally only talk about sex and won’t stop repeating themselves. It’s soooo slow and repetitive

Thanks netgalley for my ARC ALC

Thanks @netgalley for the chance to review “Ghosted” by Sarah Ready. I was instantly sucked into this tale - Jillian is a woman in New York who has trouble speaking with people. Until she meets a shirtless ghost in her new apartment! She and Daniel get to know each other and Jillian comes out of her shell.
I was constantly wondering how Jillian and Daniel could possibly have their happy ending. Beautiful, descriptive language and excellent narration. So sweet.

This was a fun read. Anything Sarah Ready writes I would read. I’ve read all of her releases from this year and enjoyed every single one. Ghosted has some paranormal/alternate dimension vibes. Lots of laughs and some steamy ghosts scenes. Narrator is amazing, surprised at the second pov at the end.

by the second conflict, i was waiting for it to end. it took a minute for it to come together for me because it felt like one thing after the other that kept preventing our main characters from being together. it did wrap up up in the end, especially with the second epilogue. i appreciate the underlying message with it being associated with fate and parallel universes and destiny.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Ghosted by Sarah Ready.

Of note: I had this book as an audiobook so I cannot comment on grammatical or physical text issues.

Going into this book, my only concern was that the premise seemed close to that of the movie “Just Like Heaven” and I was afraid it would be a retelling of it. Although similar in ideas in the beginning, the author really makes this story one of her own with the quirkiness of the characters. It had an easy flow to the story that made me want to see where the characters would end up. I have never read this author before and her humor and way of storytelling in this book has me interested in looking into other writings of hers. Occasionally some of the scenes or inner monologue are cringe worthy where you feel embarrassed for the character or you think she is overdoing it and slightly immature (think the scenes you cringe during in movies like “How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days”), however it was a fun book to read with a rom-com nature and very entertaining. I would definitely recommend it as an easy read with some occasional darker subjects and grief touched on.

I was drawn into the narrator of the book. Her voice seemed to match the character well with the additional of the male narrator occasionally (Rob Brinkman). Audiobooks are my saving grace for along commutes. I am a listener who must enjoy the voice to get through an audiobook and I felt that Sarah Naughton matches the character well and really gave you a feel for the story.

Overall, a good read/listen with fun characters and humor.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to review Ghosted in the audiobook version.

After loving French Holiday by this author earlier this year, I jumped at the chance to listen to this one. As I’ve come to expect from Ready, the writing is fresh and funny, with the perfect amount of spice. There’s also an underlying vulnerability to the MC that makes her easy to love. The paranormal aspect of this plot made it a bit complex which led to the book being almost 500 pages. It started to drag on for me by the time I got to the last 20% or so. If this could have been edited down a bit, I would’ve rated it higher, but I still liked the story overall.

My rating: 3.5/5

I was so excited to see that Sarah Ready had a new book since The Space Between was an easy 5 star read for me. Unfortunately this one just didn’t work. It started out on a high note with so many funny, laugh out loud moments. But as the story went on, it just felt way too insta-lovey for my liking and I found myself rolling my eyes more than once. Also, this book could very easily have been 100 pages shorter. That, and a faster pace and this would have been a more enjoyable read for me.

This was such a breath of fresh air. First of all the cover is so pretty. A ghost rom-com?! Yess!!! I really enjoyed reading Jillian and Daniel’s love story. My heart was definitely put through a roller coaster of emotions throughout this. Everything works out in the end. And then the second epilogue my goodness. Also I really enjoyed the narrator who read the audiobook.

It's great that it's on read now. I got audio and ebook both versions. I loved the audio, it's descriptive and interesting. Narrator did a great job. Wow ❣️ 👌 a lovely story. Beautifully written book. Full of emotions and laughter and romance. I didn't read fantasy or paranormal books but I loved this one. Gripping from the first page till the end. Finished in one day. Jillian and Daniel both have great chemistry and their easy banter feels super sexy. Loved the ending and 2nd epilogue as an alternate timeline. Highly recommended,

Such a unique and fun listen. I didn’t understand how there were 2 narrators when really only one narrates for 99% of the story.

4.5 stars.

Sarah Ready does it again!!! This is my third audiobook I have listened to and they just keep getting better! This was such a cute Rom-Com. The narrators Sarah Naughton and Rob Brinkman were absolutely a joy to listen too. It was so hard for me to stop listening. I fell in LOVE with Jillian and Daniel. This was such a unique and wonderful love story that kept me engaged to the very end. I can't recommend this book enough. DON'T sleep on this one.

After reading Sarah’s last release and falling in love with her writing and story, I had high hopes for Ghosted. It absolutely is another fave read and Sarah Ready is fast becoming an instant buy author for me!

In this paranormal romcom, Jillian is the Star Trek loving nerdy girl that cannot talk to men. Like at all. When she moves into her own “uniquely decorated” apartment, she realizes she’s not alone. Enter Daniel. The super hot, shirtless…ghost. Do ghosts exist? Can this be real? What happens when Jillian is asking herself these same questions and trying to find answers and then finds love. This is such a fun spin on the “unfinished business” ghost trope (is that a thing?!).
Sarah Ready takes us on an emotional rollercoaster with her beautifully written story of Jillian and Daniel’s journey to find and keep an undying love and answer fate’s call.

I laughed, I cried, I cheered and had giddy smiles while reading this book. Thank you Sarah Ready for continuously writing stories that manage to steal my breath and my heart!

Thanks to @netgalley #wwcrown for an ALC.

These are my own honest opinions on this audiobook.

So I don’t have a great track record with Sarah Ready books…. I’ve read 3 in the past few months, and while the idea of the books appealed, the characters or the writing just didn’t click for me. But seriously, every single book she has written has appealed to me, and so, I keep going. This. Book. Nailed. It. One of my favorites of this year, this romance was so heart warming, so cheek heating 🌶️ and so full of heart! I loved the personal growth of our MC, Jill. She had just the right amount of quirkiness and trauma to make her relatable, irritating and lovable. I don’t want to spoil it, but you get to fall in love along side our characters more than once, and it’s so worth the ride! 5 ⭐️

"Ghosted" by Sarah Ready is a novel that merges the realms of romance and the supernatural with a compelling and heartfelt narrative. The story revolves around the intertwining lives of Emma and Joe, who navigate not only the complexities of love but also the mysterious presence of ghosts.

Ready exhibits a commendable mastery over character development, breathing life into Emma and Joe. Their personalities are distinct and relatable, making it easy for readers to invest in their emotional journeys. Emma's struggle with past heartbreak and her guarded demeanor evoke empathy, while Joe's genuine charm and dedication to helping spirits find closure endear him to the audience. The chemistry between the protagonists is palpable, adding authenticity to their growing relationship.

The novel's premise, combining romance and the supernatural, is intriguing and original. Ready skillfully balances these two elements, creating an atmosphere that's both romantic and eerie. The concept of assisting ghosts in resolving their unresolved issues is captivating and adds layers to the plot.

The writing style is fluid and engaging, with Ready's attention to detail painting vivid scenes. From the bustling city streets to the ethereal interactions with spirits, the imagery draws readers into the story's world. However, at times, the pacing feels uneven, with certain segments moving too swiftly while others linger. This uneven pacing occasionally affects the narrative's momentum, causing the reader to lose a bit of immersion.

Ready's exploration of themes such as love, loss, and the afterlife adds depth to the story. Emma and Joe's personal growth throughout the novel is intertwined with their interactions with the spirits, highlighting the interconnectedness of life and death. These philosophical undertones contribute to the book's thought-provoking nature.

While "Ghosted" successfully captures the emotional turbulence of its characters, it occasionally relies on familiar romance tropes. Despite this, the novel manages to inject freshness into these tropes through the supernatural angle, keeping the narrative engaging.

In conclusion, "Ghosted" is a novel that offers a unique blend of romance and the supernatural. Sarah Ready's adept character development, vivid imagery, and thought-provoking themes make this book an enjoyable and meaningful read. Although some pacing issues and reliance on familiar tropes are evident, the overall experience of reading "Ghosted" is rewarding, leaving readers pondering the boundaries of love and the mysteries that lie beyond.

I am already a fan of Sarah Ready and was interested in the ghost in my apartment storyline. A quarter of the way through the book I was afraid I was going to hate the direction the book was taking. Nope I loved it. It was such a fun story that didn't follow my predictions. Overall it is a cute, fun, humorous and entertaining audiobook.

Jillian gives dating advice to other people, but she herself can't even speak to men. Until Daniel shows up half naked in her new apartment. She tries to scare him off with bat, but her hit misses... or actually, goes right through him. Daniel starts following her, convinced it is his mission to help her with her love life.
This is a cozy paranormal romance. The first quarter was really interesting, but then it drags a bit. The pacing felt off, there was a bit too much happening, I kept thinking the end was close and then I'd look and I was around 30%, then 50%. The premise was interesting, but it may have needed a bit of editing. The audio book is 14 hours, which is long for a romance. I Loved Jillian's character development, although she came across as needy and immature sometimes. Since it's cozy paranormal, you do have to suspend disbelief, but it's still a fun read. There is great chemistry between the two main characters. The narration of the audio book was great. I liked how the story was wrapped up in the end.
I received an advance review copy of this book for free and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.
