Sarah Ready, thank you for Jillian. Thank you for a nerdy and creative female protagonist with dark hair that feels like she’s carrying the weight of the world. As if a Star Trek loving main character wasn’t enough, you gave us a story that was heartwarming and heartbreaking and everything in between. I think we all feel a little like Jillian—afraid to forgive ourselves for the guilt we carry, and we all need someone to come alongside us and love us as we are.

One week ago, I was joking about how paranormal romances are absolutely unnecessary. But as soon as Sarah Ready produced one, I ate my words, and then proceeded to make fun of myself the whole time I was reading this book. I can’t and won’t speak for all paranormal romances, but this one is really sweet. It reads like a sci-fi fairy tale, which is right up my alley.

This story is full of real emotions—even the hard ones—which I believe is one of the author’s greatest strengths. She knows how to tap into what we think and feel as humans. And I appreciate that. I liked the complexity of the plot, and all the science-y tidbits scattered through the story that made everything seem logical. I was cheering for Jillian from the beginning, and even though I could anticipate the ending, I enjoyed the twists and turns that got me there.

If I had a critique, it would be this—Sarah Ready seems to be adept at writing men who are certainly too good to be true. But there’s a hopefulness in her characters that I love.

Like other Sarah Ready romances, this is an open door romance. So read with discernment if that’s not your thing, but I love her books, and I think they’re worth the read. I can say, without a doubt, that I will continue to read whatever Sarah Ready writes. Thank you to NetGalley, W. W. Crown, and the author for an audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If this book had ended at 50%, it would have been decent. If it had ended at 80%, it would have been tolerable. But no, it went the full 14 hours, and man, even at 3x, I felt every one of those seconds. This book requires a strong ability to suspend belief, an ability that apparently, despite my love of magic and fantasy and occasionally magical realism, do not possess, as honestly, I didn't want the two characters to end up together because it was just so unrealistic. The sex with a ghost scenes made me really uncomfortable, and I spent a good amount of the book just cringing at the insanity of the main character's thought processes. Also, the description. SOOOO much description. "Daniel," the character will say, and then I kid you not, FIVE MINUTES of describing his STUBBLE, the breeze, the amount of sugar in the coffee. And then he says "yes?" and then another FIVE MINUTES describing the red brick, the leaves, and the cream in the coffee. Like seriously, the book could have been 2 hours shorter if we never discussed his chin stubble. The conspiracy theorist guy was the most believable character in this book. Thank you for the ARC audio copy of this book.

Ghosted by Sarah Ready
My first audio read from Sarah Ready and and it didn't disappoint. A paranormal romance that had me guessing to the end and a plot twist out of nowhere that was unexpected. I'm still not sure about audiobooks as I tend to switch off when I'm concentrating on other things, but the narrator had an interesting voice and I quite enjoyed listening to a book instead of reading it for a change. I did have to rewind a few times though.

A surprisingly fun time with all the feels. Even from the beginning moments, the story drags you in with it humor and charismatic cast. A paranormal romance at its best. Even if at times it felt a bit over the top or cheesy, it was such an enjoyable read. I almost wish it had been separated into two books since it was quite a long story and already felt as if there were two full arches to the story. And I would love a full book just from Daniel's perspective.

4.5/5

Oh my! So many feels. What a beautiful experience.
Another top unexpected favorite!

Jillian , a writer for a relationship column is deeply deeply shy and awkward around men. This doesn't stop her from going on blind dates and writing about being authentic in life and love. The men she has been set up with are perfectly fine with doing all the talking , and Jillian sees the good in everyone, so she isn't bothered by this as long as she doesn't have to talk. Outside of work and saying she's a companionable type of awkward , a die hard Trekkie as well.

When Jillian moves into her new apartment , it's covered in mirrors and sounds like the setting of a porn studio in the 80s. This doesn't seem to Perturb her despite her parents comments.

One day when working on an article she is talking out-loud and someone answers her, a casual male voice enters her convo and comments on her article. The rising action starts here and ohhh by is it fun. Daniel is the first guy she vibes with but he doesn't appear to be corporeal, yet he's the first random man she can form sentences with and talk to for the first time in years.

The love story. Evens and oh what a delight it was to read. I tore through it in about a day. I felt all the feels and the narration was spot on.

You will laugh, possibly cry and for sure empathize with the characters in this amazing book.

I look forward to reading more from Sarah Ready!

Thanks #netgalley

This was such a fun read that I couldn’t put down. The story follows dating and relationships expert Jillian who can’t ever seem to be able to talk to men, herself. That is, until Daniel comes along and she can talk to him with ease. The problem - he’s dead…and a ghost. As he helps her practice and gather the courage to date, feelings spark between them, though it seems they can never work.
Narrators Sarah Naughton & Rob Brinkman were great and brought the story to life. This story is a beautiful romance with plenty of humor and heart.
Thank you to Swift & Lewis Publishing for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. This comes out 9/26!

At this point, when I see the name Sarah Ready pop up- it's just an auto read for me. I have never been disappointed and I know that whatever the storyline is, it'll be filled with some beautiful feel-good moments and some lovable characters that stay with you. With that being said, I almost always go in blind and this one took me by surprise. Perhaps it was reading it so closely after The Space Between (and being absolutely wrecked emotionally by it) that this felt so left field or maybe it's the 'paranormal' aspect that just throws me off in general with books that include the theme.

Overall, this still didn't fail me. The story kept going when I thought it would end and went in a whole new direction that ended up hooking me in deeper. Did it take until that point to develop a bit more interest in the characters? Yes, but even before it I was still satisfied with the read. I'm a fan of the dynamics that are often created between the love interests and this was perfect in the 'not who you thought they were' twist. As always, banter and moments of laughing out loud was never lacking and we still get a good bit of emotional twists.

Will I continue to read whatever Sarah Ready puts out? Absolutely. They never seem to fail to be the absolute perfect afternoon read to scratch that feel good romance read in such cozy ways, I just might need to pay a bit closer attention at times to the synopsis because we've clearly gotten to the point that Sarah Ready is reaching to try out some quirky themes!

Ghosted by Sarah Ready was an emotional and heartfelt paranormal romance that enraptured me completely from start to finish. Sarah has this way of creating such angst, and passion between her characters that will stick with you long after you finish. Jillian and Daniel’s history romance is full of sentimental twists and jaw dropping turns that will leave you captivated.

Sarah Naughton narrates this book, and she is simply stunning. Sarah’s melodic tone perfectly depicts the vulnerable, dedicated, and persistent journalist, Jillian. In her performance, she creates the perfect amount of tension that will leave you hanging on every word. Rob Brinkmann narrates the second epilogue where you finally get to hear swoony, Daniel’s voice.

Overall, I loved this book. If you are a fan of a paranormal romance with a hot shirtless jean clad ghost, a sweet and sassy journalist, mirrors in apartments, psychics, finding your voice, gaining confidence, mystery, suspense, light passionate spice, a shocking climax, and a HEA this is simply fate and meant to be then you will love Jillian and Daniel’s story. I always look forward to more from Sarah Ready.

Ghosted by Sarah Ready
Format: audio/ebook hybrid
Release Date: 9/26/2023
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was my first book by Sarah Ready and it was really charming! Ghosted is a romcom that definitely gave me some Lucy Score vibes and you know I’ll never complain about that!

Jillian is dreadfully shy in front of men and has trouble getting any conversation out during dates but somehow is the dating and relationship expert at the publication she works at. So of course it only makes sense that when she finally meets a man who she vibes with…he’s totally a ghost.

I really love the chemistry between Daniel-the-ghost and Jilli mix of laugh out loud romantic comedy moments while also really tugging on your heartstrings with tender and real moments.

Coming in at 454 pages, I felt Ready was really able to fully develop the plot and cast of characters well without making it drag too much. I enjoyed a lot of the side characters and how everything tied together in the end! I could have done without multiple epilogues in an already long romcom, but other than that this was a total winner!

Big thanks to @netgalley for the advanced audio and ebook copy of this book!

Ghosted by Sarah Ready was a beautiful surprise! When I say surprise I mean not at all what I was expecting. I think you'll love this even if you don't generally like paranormal books. Our main character character Jillian falls for a sexy ghost and then there's a major plot twist. I won't say more. I am rating this 4.5/5. I generally loved it, but at times thought it was too long and also thought the resolution was rushed.

I listened to this as an audiobook. The audio is narrated by Sarah Naughton with a surprise epilogue read by Rob Brinkman. Sarah has a melodic, perky voice perfect for our heroine. Rob has a very dreamy voice worthy of Daniel. The audio production is excellent!

If you're on the fence about this one, give it a try!

Jillian is at a low in her life. Career is sinking, her dating life is non-existent and she has moved to a new apartment. Jillian is unable to talk to attractive men. This all changes when Jillian finds that she is not alone in her new apartment, because there is a ghost there too. The ghost of shirtless man named Daniel. And Jillian’s life begins to change with the help of this unlikely ally.

And life seems to be unusual but going well with Daniel in her life, until Jillian realizes that she has fallen in love with him.

I really enjoyed this book. It was not a standard rom-com nor was it a paranormal romance. I would categorize it as somewhere in between. The characters were truly likeable and the story had heart. I liked that Jillian was a little naïve and a proud sci-fi nerd. The story was fiction but had an interesting connection to science.

I am really interested in reading more books by Sarah Ready. This was a fun story and I recommend. Rated it 4 stars but rounded up to 4.5.

This was a wonderful and swoony ghost story. Jillian is a writer of a floundering relationship column and has a hard time talking to men. When she moves into her new apartment she quickly realizes it comes with a hot shirtless ghost complete with a six pack abs. The ghost, Daniel thinks he's there to help Jillian with her job and love life, in order for him to move on. Shenanigans ensue, as well a a connection between Jillian and Daniel.
I loved this story, it had so many twists and turns and is just so romantic. This is my third Sarah Ready book I've read this year, and I've loved each and every one of them. I highly recommend this book.
Thank you to Netgalley and W.W. Crown for the advanced listener copy. Sarah Naughton and Rob Brinkman are great narrators.

Ghosted by Sarah Ready is a paranormal romance about Daniel, a ghost, and Jillian, the only person who can see him. As they journey through the realms between the living and the dead, they discover a world of untapped emotions. Watching them connect and offer comfort to one another filled my heart with warmth.

Jillian Negat feels awkward and has trouble talking to men until a shirtless ghost named Daniel shows up in her apartment. Daniel is also struggling as he cannot recall the circumstances of how he died or how he became a ghost. Through their dialogue, Daniel reveals he may be the key to unlocking secrets of Jillian's past, allowing her to uncover the truth and take control of her future. Jillian's communication skills are improved, but she also discovers her true passion and purpose thanks to Daniel's guidance. In the most unusual circumstances, this is a sweet story of friendship and love.

I listened to the audiobook as well as reading the book. Sarah Ready is one of my favorite authors, and I have read several of her books which are always delightful. Her stories are captivating and I often cannot put the book or audiobook down, wanting to find out what happens next. Sarah Naughton and Rob Brinkman deliver engaging and believable characters in their audiobooks. There is no doubt that both of them are excellent narrators. I recommend this book and audiobook to anyone who enjoys cozy paranormal romances. The characters are well-developed and the narration is superb. It was a pleasure to listen to the audiobook and read this book.

Thank you NetGalley and W.W. Crown for the opportunity to review Ghosted in the book and audiobook versions.

Thank you W. W. Crown publishing for the ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.

This is the story of who moved into an apartment that is haunted by a guy. They both spend a good amount of time together. They soon realized they need to help each other to be able to move forward in their respective lives. Along the way feelings grow. However what happens when your fall for a ghost?

This one is steamy...it has a overall theme of sex. However it not the whole plot which I appreciated. I thought this story was so interesting and perfect for spooky season coming up. I loved the concept of lovers finding each other in this way. I am not wanting to spoil anything. Just know the twist is beautiful and so unexpected for me.

Content: multiple open door scenes ( I easily skipped with audiobook), some swearing not very noticeable though, overbearing parents

First let me cover the narration: I listened to a 5 minute demo and instantly knew the narrator (Sarah Naughton) was going to do a great job. I knew it would be easy to listen to, both for the author’s the writing style and the narrator’s vocal acting style. For that reason I got the full audiobook and it was indeed as easy to listen to as I anticipated from the demo.

Her voice was even, well cadenced, and there was no distracting accent. She put the emphasis and emotions in exactly as you would imagine it would feel for the characters and it was incredibly easy to listen at 1.0x normal speed as well as faster speeds. That’s a huge plus, and not every narrator pull that off. That being said, the male narrator did sound much better at 1.0x speed and needed to be left at normal speed.

Now I to the story: This if my first Sarah Ready book and I absolutely loved it. It’s a feel-good book that hooks you in almost immediately and keeps you transfixed the whole time. I wasn’t sure what I’d think about a paranormal romance but it was so funny, sweet, and optimistic and the characters won me over. Clearly knowing it was a romance with (most likely) a HEA, you figured there would have to be a twist somewhere that makes the ‘Happily Ever After’ a possibility. It was clever, it wasn’t entirely anticipated, and the second epilogue made the entire story even more amazing. It was feel-good perfection and it’s definitely “reread” material!

I enjoyed this. It was an interesting spin on the "there's a hot ghost in my apartment" trope that I've seen a bit lately.

I thought Jillian was sweet. I didn't entirely understand her reasoning for why she quit talking to men entirely but it falls under the grief umbrella. The idea of a silent woman who only interacts in awkward chuckles and shrugs sounds like an awful dating partner and I cringed hard at the idea that she was set up on 150 dates. I loved that she didn't have any issues opening up to Daniel when she finds him in her apartment.

Daniel remembers nothing from what he assumes is an accident except that he feels safe and calm next to Jillian. He accompanies her on her horrible dates and helps to coach her through awkward situations. They end up becoming extremely close and the plot diverges here from where I thought it would.

I thought this was such an interesting take because I expected him to be in a coma or something and he absolutely was not. I actually "oooh-ed" when everything came out the way it did. It took me DAYS to finish the book because I knew the blow up was going to be absolutely brutal and it was.

I thought both narrators added so much to the experience of listening to this.

I have a definite Sarah Ready rom-com hangover right now! I immediately fell in love with the whole situation and finished in one day. Jillian, a shy, nerdy, Trekkie, moves into a low rent apartment that looks like it’s been used to film 70s porn. But that’s not the weirdest thing. Turns out it’s haunted by a hot, shirtless guy who just won’t leave her alone.

I loved how the story unfolded and the ultimate conclusion. The peripheral characters were hilarious. I listened as I read this touching, funny, romantic story made more so with excellent narration by Sarah Naughton and Rob Brinkman. 4.5⭐️

Sarah Ready is becoming one of my newest favorite authors. Jillian writes an advice column for an online news site. It’s all about love, relationships, and sex. The irony is, Jillian can’t talk to men in real life aside from relatives. And apparently the sexy dead guy that haunts her new apartment. Ghosted is filled with a roller coaster of emotions. What starts as a paranormal mystery, quickly turns into a sweet paranormal romance, then takes a turn to desperate and stalker-ish, and somehow evens everything out at the end. Honestly, I'm surprised how much I enjoyed the story considering I don't normally go for paranormal romances. The initial meeting of Daniel in her apartment was quirky and left questions that it took the entire book to solve. The themes of love, loss, and redemption were beautifully explored, making the book even more special. It's a unique and captivating read that I could happily immerse myself in forever. If you're looking for a heartwarming and touching book, I highly recommend giving this one a chance.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity.

This book absolutely blew me away! I've never read anything from this author before so I didn't really have any expectations going into it. The description sounded really interesting to me so I decided to go for it and I am so happy that I did. This will probably be one of my favorite romcoms of the year! There is so much depth to the story that I wasn't expecting. Even the side characters had so much personality and were so lovable. Jillian is a writes dating and relationship columns without even being able to talk to men, much less date them. Until she moves into a new apartment and meets an attractive ghost named Daniel. As the layers of their story unfold it just gets better and better. I feel like if I say any more than it will ruin the twists and turns of the book. I will just leave it at I highly recommend this book for anyone who is a romcom fan. You don't want to miss this one.

Look at me reading ghostly rom-com’s! Annnnd, I loved it! This was my first read by this author, and I’ll definitely be reading more. This little paranormal mystery, turn rom-com was full of heady emotion. Just the right type of book for in between some of my dark reads. Did I have to suspend belief? - Yes. Was the main MC a little needy and immature at times? - Yes. I easily forgave any niggles for what was overall a cute, fun, highly humorous and entertaining audiobook. 4 ⭐️

Many thanks to @netgalley and #wwcrown for ALC 🙏
