Inner Child Healing With Your Breath
so viel mehr als nur Heilung des inneren Kindes
Theorie und praktische Teile rund ums Atmen und Heilen. Sehr einfühlsam und anschaulich geschrieben - die Stimme passt perfekt. Ein großartiges Hörbuch!
I absolutely enjoyed this audiobook. The narrator's voice was soothing. I would listen to this book on walks, it would help with my breathing. This is a beginner book for healing with your breath and the author does a really good job at explaining everything. This book focuses on the importance of breath work.
Thank you SO much to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.
It was a busy too spiritual for me i didnt get a lot of it sorry :(
Thank you to the author Million Breath, and NetGalley, for an advance audio copy of INNER CHILD HEALING WITH YOUR BREATH. All views are mine.
Opening quote: [Breathing] is one of the essential functions of our bodies. You were born able to breath. And it is also one of the most reflective of our inner selves. The rhythm of our breathing is unique to each of us, just as our fingerprints are.
Three (or more) things I loved:
1. I love that this book provides a historical and biological overview of breathing and breath-- theories and their evolutions, disorders and anomalies of breathing. Fascinating background.
2. A religious history is pretty fascinating. Christian "breath prayer," in which the supplicant prays and steps forward upon inhale, and prays again, stepping backward, on exhale, reminds me of walking a labyrinth.
3. The section on meditation is quite excellent. Even though I've practiced meditation a while, and studied Taoism, I learned some interesting insights here.
4. Overall, I found the section on breathing useful, as well. While an example exercise of each form of breathing might have been more practical, the descriptions of the types of breathing are sufficient to inform the reader how to use them.
Three (or less) things I didn't love:
This section isn't only for criticisms. It's merely for items that I felt something for other than "love" or some interpretation thereof.
1. This book doesn't properly cite. It contains information that needs a source, but it doesn't give them, or at least not in any meaningful way.
2. This book contains information that seems wildly extraneous, like detailed discussions of certain breathing ailments. Like strangulation. And allergies.
3. This latter two thirds of this book explores several different forms of breath practice. The descriptions are succinct but informative. The only downfall of these sections is the frustration of my expectations: I thought I would find explanations of process that I would be able to apply in my life. Unfortunately, no.
4. Very little of this book is about the purported subject-- breathing as healing.
5. I personally would have found this whole document much more legitimate if the author had chosen a pen name to protect their anonymity rather than the grammatically confusing expression "Million Breath".
7. I love the explanations of breathing exercises at the end of the audiobook, each separated from the others by a chime. I wish, however, the narrator had actually walked the listener through a set of each breathing exercise.
Closing quote: Not only does our emotional state affect our breathing, but how we breath affects our emotions. Therefore paying attention to your breath is essential and beneficial. By doing so, you can gain a greater understanding of your emotions and learn to control them. In other words, you can learn to control your life.
Closing quote: Every breath is an opportunity to connect with yourself on a deeper level and find answers to your most pressing questions.... You can choose to follow your breath and be in the present moment.... Let [your breath] take you on a journey to peace and happiness.

This audiobook was very good. There were so many breathing techniques discussed and I can't wait to try all of the ones I haven't already tried. The narrators voice was very soothing and perfect for this book. An excellent introduction to both the spiritual and religious aspects of the breath and prayer/meditation, as well as the more practical benefits. If you're looking for a practical guide to heal your inner child and fortify yourself against manipulation, "Inner Child Healing With Your Breath" is a must-listen.
I thank the author and Netgalley for allowing me to review this book as an ARC copy.
Let's start by saying that I have always valued the importance of breathwork and am a fan of yoga. So getting into this book I really liked the way it started off by giving insights into the implications of breath, what it represents and how it connects with religion and our daily life.
Where it lost me was the second half, where the book sa=tarted giving unsolicited general advice for how to get out of tricky life situations, diverging from the main theme. I would have loved it if the book decided to dive deeper in the implication of breath, exploring in depth different breath practices, potentially using data from research showing the positive implications of correct breathing patterns. That was lacking for me, and this is why I can't leave a full mark, but would definitely recommend for someone looking to get more into the benefits of breathwork and mindfulness.
I thought this was going to be a little different than it was but I had a lot of good takeaways from it. There were so many breathing techniques discussed and I can't wait to try all of the ones I haven't already tried. I thought it was well researched and very approachable even for beginners. The narrators voice was very soothing and perfect for this book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
As a shamanic reiki practitioner, I'm always helping clients with their inner healing... Inner child work included. This is a wonderful tool.
An excellent introduction to both the spiritual and religious aspects of the breath and prayer/meditation, as well as the more practical benefits of breath control for meditation, relationships and mental health. As a long time yoga aficionado, it was interesting to hear the history and links between all the world’s religions.
My thanks to the publisher Million Breath, and #NetGalley for providing a copy for review. All opinions are my own.

I learned a little bit from this book. It is quite informational, with a few breathing techniques mixed in. I wrote down a couple notes to remember, and will attempt to use a couple of these techniques in my life.
The title of this book was incredibly misleading as there was absolutely nothing in here that referenced healing your inner child. This was much more an overview of different cultures and religions and the use of breathwork within them than anything about healing your inner child. Was really disappointed that I was mislead as with the proper title this would be a better book.
Thank you netgalley for an advanced ARC of this book
While listening to the audiobook I enjoyed listening to the information given about stuff, especially chapter 2 where you learn about religions and beliefs as well as how breathing is so important in all these different cultures. I think this book is good for people who want to learn about how important Breath is in healing and cultures/religions around the world, I am interested in starting mediation so this gave me more info to do that with + I am on a Inner healing journey but I didn't see much to do with child inner healing... but in chapter 3 the exercises there are good to do and I am going to make some of them apart of my daily habit.
For beginners of wanting to start mediation I do this this book would be good to read
This wasn’t exactly what I was expecting when I requested it. The first part was informational and I did learn a few things. The second part was more common sense, at least to me and was very surface level. It didn’t dive too deep and I didn’t learn anything I didn’t already know. The last part with the breathing exercises was very helpful, but I wish each one was gone through as a guided meditation of sorts, explained step by step and breath by breath. I didn’t feel like this was a great title, as there was nothing about healing your inner child. There was a small section about manipulation and freeing yourself from toxic relationships, but not really very helpful. Motivational, yes. I would say this is more so a very beginners guide to mediation and breathe work at the very most.
This was interesting but it doesn't seem to be what it was advertised. It sounded like it was going to be tips and exercises for healing, but it was mostly going back through different disciplines that use breathing as a technique. And the history and descriptions were interesting but not as helpful as I'd hoped. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me listen to this
This is deeply soothing listen and I recommend it! I've always been curious about how breath work can help me in my daily life. As a C-PTSD survivor, I find this book so incredibly empowering
This was another tough one. The narration was decent. If this were any other book it probably would have been a little too slow. However, given the topic the slow soothing tone and cadence worked. I will say I listen a lot on my commute to work and I leave the house at 0445 there was a time or two I stopped listening because I was starting to get drowsy.
Otherwise, I was pretty underwhelmed. I'm not sure the author delivered on the descriptions promise. I am writing thins two days after finishing the book and I only remember one reference to the "Inner Child." Moreover, I feel this was more an overview of how cultures and religions have used and view breath. The description said I would learn how to us mantras; what I learned was the definition of a mantra and why they are seen as important. I don't recall one example of a mantra and despite being advised we should create our own, I really don't even have a clue how to do that. Well, it's supposed to be affirming and supportive healing sounds. The first part of the book was incredibly basic in describing breathing. In fairness, I have a degree in Biology so maybe that's why i felt like I was in 6th grade biology class. However, when the book moved on to breathing techniques and such it pulled way back and gave very little depth. I would have much rather that be the other way around. I have learned through other studies very specific breathing techniques, such as box breathing (4x4x4x4), slow relaxing (4x7x8), and rapid breathing 10 very quick breaths followed by a long exhale. Each of those are used to achieve different states. These was nothing in this book that was that specific. If this book was market as a "the history and beliefs if breathing," I'd be all in but as a how to and teaching me how to heal myself through breath work? Not so much.
I gave it a t3 starts because the historical information was good and enjoyable. The narration was good and there were some good nuggets of information sprinkled throughout. In my opinion this book has a good concept but needs to be fleshed out a little.
Note this was an advanced copy audio, as such this is my honest opinion.
This books contains many different breath work patterns useful for calming one’s self and clearing one’s mind. Will you with family, schools, and in therapeutic practice.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC audio in exchange for my honest opinion.
I am very interested in the subject matter, but really struggled getting into this book. I did not find it engaging or helpful. I personally did not enjoy this book, but if you are into breathwork then perhaps you might like it, but it is a hard pass for me.
This was an interesting book when it came to a background of yoga practices, mindfulness and ways of dealing with potential trauma and self esteem. The breathing element of the book was less than half of it however, with a sentence about how powerful breath is every now and again. While it may be good with the parts it spoke about, I don't think it ever spoke about healing an inner child. The title is a tad misleading.
All in all though it is not bad for giving you a good background on certain topics.
Thanks to Netgalley and the author and publisher for a temporary copy in exchange for an honest review.
