I was conflicted with this one! I really enjoyed it but i didnt fully like the main character!

Likes:
- MMC is a dream boat
- Family dynamics

Dislikes:
- FMC was really annoying to me
- Narrative around social media
- Hate to love didnt really seem convincing!

3.5 stars for me. I really did enjoy parts but it was no where near as good as the second book in the series for me!

I'm not going to post a review of this as I feel it might be a me problem with this book rather than the book's problem. I just can't get past the main two characters - they feel immature and it was just frustrating. I don't think I can get past this in the book, so I'm going to call it here.

This is the 3rd and final book in the influencer series. I’m so sad that this series is over because it was so much fun. They can all be read as standalones as they have 3 best friends as the overlapping characters and they are the cutest friendship group. I want to be besties with them so bad.

Exe’s and O’s was definitely my favourite but this one was still a great read. Cora’s Cove was the perfect small town setting packed with so many lovable characters. I adored Evan’s family and the scenes where they interacted with Mel were either funny or adorable. This book definitely gave me a giggle or two.

Mel and Evan were super cute together and I loved that Mel’s love of fashion was embraced instead of belittled. You can be a bit extra and still love nature (minus the creepy crawlies). Evan was the perfect hot grumpy fisherman with a secret soft side (the lashes) and who doesn’t love a man in flannel? My only issue is I’m not a fan of insta love and boy do these guys move fast. However, it is addressed and is part of the reason for the 3rd act conflict so it didn’t ruin the story for me. If you love a fun romance with some spice mixed in then I recommend this series. This book also gave me It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey vibes so if you enjoyed that definitely give this a go.

If you loved Exes and Ohs by Amy Lea then you will also love this book. You will just feel warm and fuzzy inside all the time whilst reading. A great read to improve you're day.

The characters and setting are clearly described allowing for you to feel fully immersed in the book and want to be apart of Melanie and Evans world.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the E-Arc.

I love when I see a new release from Amy Lea as I know they are going to be such an easy, cute and fluffy read and The Catch is no different!

Influencer Melanie who feels like she has hit a rut in the influencer game gets offered the trip of a lifetime to a 5* spa resort it Nova Scotia; the only problem being she is given the incorrect dates.

Melanie is a loveable character who starts off showing she is high maintenance and is not someone for nature however once she stumbles upon the the only place on airbnb available she meets the outdoorsy Evan who is obnoxious and rude. The clash, they fight and they argue but through it all they meet in the middle.

If you love:

👩🏼‍❤️‍💋‍👨🏻Fake Dating
🌲/🌃 opposites attract
👵🏼 Loveable side characters
⛵️ Beautiful scenes

Definitely pick this one up!!!

The Catch - Amy Lea

Brilliant characters and fab setting, which was really easy to imagine, a perfect escapism read. I really liked the quick build up of tension and feelings, (which I know not everyone enjoys) but for me this is what I am expecting when reading this type of book - I don't want to wait around forever until people get feelings for one another, let's just get stuck into the good bits! This book gave me the same feelings as It happened one summer by Tessa Bailey which I also loved. This is my first time reading a book by this author and I really look forward to reading more from Amy Lea in the future. Thank you very much Netgalley, Penguin General UK - Fig Tree, Hamish Hamilton and Viking for this e-arc in return for my honest thoughts and opinions.

The Catch by Amy Lea is the third book in the Influencer series, but can be read as a standalone.

Evan and Mel are total opposites on surface level - He is a grumpy lobster fisherman and she is a fashion influencer. As they get to know each other under the pretences of a fake engagement, they start to find that their differences aren't a barrier to their relationship.

The relationship between Evan and Mel is very endearing, and I really enjoyed their character development. Both characters were prepared to make big sacrifices to be with each other, and it was just the sweetest.

The timeline from start to finish of this book was very fast, and definitely borderlines instalove. I like that this was brought up though! It also contributed to the dreaded third act break up in the story.

I'd definitely continue to read anything by Amy Lea, and would recommend this to fans of contemporary romance.

Amy Lea’s new book is the third and final or the influencer series. Whilst there is nothing new in regards to formula, this book still satisfies the craving for a good rom com.

Through a booking mix up, travel influencer Mel, finds herself staying at a small Airbnb, conveniently run by a handsome, yet very moody, fisherman.

What follows is an enemy to lovers story line that hits all the right notes. The characters were likeable and the storyline had the right amount of suspense!

All in all, a good read. If you’re a fan of Tessa Baileys ‘It Happened one Summer’. Then this one is for you.

I absolutely adore the influencer series, and I think that this was such a great third installment to the series! I did feel like the 'influencer trying to stay relevant' thing was a bit of a drag at points, but I adored the romance between Melanie and Evan, and was rooting for them from the get-go. It felt a bit rushed at times, and I was a bit puzzled at certain things, but overall it was an easy and enjoyable read!

A grumpy lobster fisherman tosses a fashion influencer’s impeccably curated life overboard in the next romantic comedy from international bestselling author Amy Lea.

This was fun and cute!! I really liked the setting in this book, the quaint little town was nothing like Melanie expected to find herself in but eventually she fell in love with it.

Evan was a wholesome man and I really enjoyed his grumpiness at the beginning, it was a great arc for the character.

I did find some parts a little dull and like i'd read something similar elsewhere but overall i enjoyed this book.

I rated it 3.5 stars!!

A great ending to the series. If you haven't read the series. Another you don't need to in order to enjoy the book. I would recommend as it gives it some context.

This was such a great ending to this series! I loved the small town vibes and seeing how much chemistry the main characters had.
This was probably the most realistic fake engagement plot I’ve read and I really enjoyed seeing the reactions to it. Mel and Evan have a great dynamic and the plot moved really well. I loved the grumpy sunshine trope and the spice was fantastic.
I absolutely need to visit Canada after reading this.

Maybe it’s because I just got back from a holiday where I spent some time in - and fell in love with - Nova Scotia, but I just ate up this book! I enjoyed the first two instalments of Amy Lea’s Influencer series but this is my favourite of the trilogy! A definite five star read for me!

My favourite things about this novel:
🇨🇦 The setting (I want to move to Cora’s Cove; though I have to be honest, the luxury seaside resort also sounded pretty darn wonderful and I wouldn’t say no unless a hot, grumpy, guitar-playing man begged me to!)
🦞 The way I spent the whole book was wanting to eat a lobster roll!
❤️ The importance of family and friends: I adored Mel’s beautiful friendships with Crystal and Tara and her love and care for her brother, and I couldn’t get enough of the crazy Whaler clan
👠 The fact that Mel’s love of fashion and clothes was embraced as part of her rather than belittled
🌶️ Evan: the aforementioned hot, grumpy, guitar playing man - and the fabulously spicy scenes he starred in

Yes, it was a bit insta love which isn’t my usual trope, but I instantly loved both of the main characters too so I can’t really blame it this time…

If you liked ‘It Happened One Summer’, ‘Maggie Moves On’ or Lea’s previous books I 100% think you’ll love this one too!

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Penguin General UK for the eARC which meant I didn’t have to wait til the publication date of 15th Feb 2024.

I am so glad I got the chance to read this book as an eARC, I absolutely loved it! It’s a small town romance between two very different people that at first think they aren’t a match. It’s a story that will melt your heart for sure! I love Amy’s writing and how she managed to make me fall in love with the characters.

It was an okay book to end the series. However, this type of enemies to lovers just doesn’t sit well with me. I never enjoy reading it and sadly, never give high star ratings. I found it a bit childish and the main characters just lacked chemistry for me. They seemed to act like small kids who just complained about everything and anything. It did make me laugh how a fisherman has issues with a random lady like cmon grow up, we aren’t 5 years old in a playground because someone stole your ball. Sometimes I find myself coming around and rooting for them to be together but honestly, I wish they’ve moved to the other side of the world and stayed away from one another. It was an easy read and something to fill the time but I definitely wouldn’t come back for a re-read or spend anymore time thinking about the characters, if the book was longer than what it was I would’ve dnf :( sorry

I went into this book looking for a bit of a palette cleanser and I would say it delivered in that regard. It was easy enough to read without having to think too much and was a good break from heavier reads although the book as a whole did feel a little flat for me, I would probably say it was my least favourite of the series (although I wasn't blown away by any of them particularly).

I think enemies to lovers as a trope can be really hard to get right and I especially find it hard when it's instant enemies, I think instant enemies is something I find even harder to get behind than insta-love and in this one it really impacted my connection to the characters. In terms of the strengths of this one I did enjoy the family dynamics and some of the conversations between the different family members and I think that's what carried the story for me (although I did have to try and forget how quick the connection was between Mel and the family too as this felt quite off putting).

I think this book did a lot of telling me rather than showing me which again stopped me being able to invest in the characters or their relationship as much as I might have liked to. Overall I didn't dislike this book but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it either

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was really looking forward to reading this book. It was well written and of course I loved the enemies to lovers. However, I now know that I am not a fan of the characters being influencers. I am not sure why but it is not for me, I did not find the main character likeable (although the side characters were).

We follow Melanie who is a fashion/beauty influencer who is given a paid opportunity in Canada. She flies out but it turns out the company got the dates wrong so she’s there a week too early and the resort has no availability.

It’s peak fishing and tourist season so she struggled to find somewhere to stay. She searches Air B&B and finds a place with availability an hour away, she drives over there to find that it’s quite run down and it’s run by a grumpy fisherman - Evan 🎣

It’s hard to say much more about the plot without running into spoiler 🤐

I really enjoyed Evan, he came across as grumpy in all the right ways. His family and friends were great characters and I found myself quite attached to them! I wasn’t as attached to Melanie but that may be because I’ve not read the first two books in the series? 📚

A slight negative for me was how their relationship progressed fairly quickly. We still got to see quite a bit of angst and longing, but I would have loved to have seen more of that 📖

I didn’t realise this was the third book in a series until looking into the book after I read it 😅 You can definitely read this as a stand-alone, but I am going to go back and read the first two as I really enjoyed this author’s writing 📝

A really fun third instalment in Amy Lea’s influencer series with one of my favourite tropes - fake dating! Or in this case, a fake engagement. Melanie and Evan definitely didn’t get off to a good start, and things don’t improve as they continue to run into each other and so when they find themselves embroiled in a fake engagement, they have a lot of work to do to be anywhere near convincing for Evan’s family. There’s plenty of awkwardness and I loved the outlandish lies Melanie comes out with when she panics and tries to cover for the secret her and Evan are keeping. The growing attraction between these two sizzles with chemistry but with a house full of people not everything goes smoothly and you can certainly sense Mel’s frustration. Through the insight into her childhood, her grief, and her family life, Mel is given depth as a character and though it’s clear she’s getting in her own way it’s easy to see why. The way these two communicate with each other and share their vulnerabilities really sells them as a couple - you can see their connection forming and their guards falling and it’s such a treat to watch their romance unfold!

I received a free copy of this book. All views are my own.

This one was just so incredibly lovely! There’s something about the way that Amy Lea writes men that really does something for me - Evan was just so wonderful and sweet and there were some really fantastic spicy scenes along the way in this one.

I also really loved the setting of this one, it was such a lovely and wholesome, small-town vibe and the entire family and cast of characters were just so heartwarming. It was lovely to watch Mel fall into this family life that she’s never really had and to watch the two of them stumble their way through a fake engagement whilst falling in love. Their back and forth dynamic and banter is just so much fun.

It was lovely and silly and I had the most wonderful time.

I do just have to say that it was a bit too insta-lovey for me. The whole book is set across the space of about two weeks, which is a bit ridiculous considering everything that happens. But if you put that fact aside then it really just was a perfect summer read. I would definitely recommend this one!
