I found this to be a charming story about challenging your long held beliefs, finding yourself, and understanding what love really means. I was pleasantly surprised by Heirloom.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

First of all, a book where someone travels around the world to attempt to solve some far-fetched mystery will always have me intrigued. I enjoyed the uniqueness of this story since the mystery comes from an antique engagement ring and superstitions passed down from grandmother to granddaughter. I was intrigued but despite the short chapters, this one took me awhile to really feel connected and invested in the story. Maybe it was that I felt Shea was a little naive and stubborn or that when I got to the end, I felt like I was missing resolution between Shea and Graham. I definitely enjoyed the read and do recommend it as a good beach read!

I hoped this book would be a fun little jaunt around the world, but it ultimately was a little slow moving for me. I had a hard time connecting with Shea and I think that impacted my ability to really love this one.

I had the opportunity to receive an ARC of this book through Net Galley, and I enjoyed every second of reading this! I flew through this book. Following Shea's adventures through New York, Italy, and Portugal was exciting, and I could imagine the beautiful things she was seeing in my head. You will not want to put this down!

When I first picked up The Heirloom, I wasn't sure what to expect. As someone who often looks to the past, the premise of a character delving into the history of an engagement ring immediately piqued my interest. The book proved to be a nice match for my tastes.

I'm a "look to the past" kind of gal. So a book that surrounded a character wanting to find out the history of an engagement ring was sure a good fit for me. I found myself relating to the main character in several ways, not only wanting to learn the history of a ring's owner but wondering - "Do I look too much into the future that I forget to see and enjoy what is happening right now?"

It made me think about my own engagement and plans and what I missed out on because I was looking too much into the future.

Overall, The Heirloom is a thoughtful exploration of the connections between our past and how we navigate our present. If you enjoy a blend of history with a personal touch, this book is a good fit for you, too.

Thanks, Jessie Rosen. #TheHeirloom #NetGalley for letting me read and review.

2.5 stars rounded up.

If you believe in superstitions this book may be a fun read - for me I simply am not a superstitious person so I found this book to be a bit taxing.

The MC of the book after getting engaged with a heirloom ring decided to fly off to Italy with another man's assistance to find out the origin story of the ring, while leaving her fiancé at home.

I found the rabbit hole the MC went down to try and find the original owner of the ring to be annoying and then the story of the ring didn't seem to end as there had been multiple past owners and the MC wanted to track them all down. The whole time I just wanted her to go home to her fiancé.

While I understood what the author was getting to with the MC's journey and the MC's desire to know about the ring, I just couldn't get myself to care.

Honestly, this book had me worried for a bit. The romance took a strange turn at one point, and I wasn't sure I liked where the author was going with it, but it ultimately turned out great. This book is full of twists, turns, mysteries, and revelations. Great settings, including New York, California, Boston, Italy, and Portugal. Wonderful character development and a tear-jerking family side-plot.

I loved the beautiful journey Shea took to find out the story behind her engagement ring. She learned a lot about herself along the way and that made the ending of this book so much better in my opinion. This was a rarity for me, in that I found it such a quick page turner that I fully adored. I don't personally have any superstitions like this, but if I did, I would love for my adventure to turn out like Shea's did! I very much enjoyed this book!

I received an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book from NetGalley.

This light “mystery” (quotes because really it was more a book of self discovery) was a great way to get to visit Italy through the page. It was fun and a little nerve wracking, to watch Shea trying to unravel the ring’s history while trying to figure out her own issues around love and marriage (I had a definite favorite guy and was kept guessing about how it would all go!) Lots of fun and lots of sweet moments.

Sigh. This sounded like it would be such a fun journey to find the history of an engagement ring. However, for me, Shea was just super frustrating. She couldn’t move past it being an heirloom (something she said was a no-no on DATE 1!) and was instead engrossed on this journey with another man rather than be with her fiancé. While I enjoyed tracking down the previous owners of the ring and their journeys, I couldn’t get past Shea being kind of a baby about the whole thing. Especially when John was a really good guy. It was a pretty quick read though and as I stated, I loved the settings and the mystery of it all. I just wish Shea and her actions didn’t turn me off to her character so much. This releases May 7th if you would like to check it out!

Thank you, Putnam, for my gifted copy of "The Heirloom" by Jessie Rosen @putnambooks #partner

The premise of this book was downright tantalizing. Shea Anderson is incredibly superstitious about certain things, oddly mainly about weddings and marriages. So when her boyfriend, John, proposes with a mysterious heirloom ring, she embarks on a quest to uncover the ring's history and ensure it brings "forever energy."

The truly enticing part of the story for me, the real hook, was why superstition took precedence over her feelings for her fiancé or her joy at being engaged. She goes to extreme lengths - literal globe-trotting for her ring’s origin story, joined by her sister and a curious journalist. Shea's journey takes her from Los Angeles to New York, Italy, and Portugal to find the original owners of the ring and their love story.

The time apart and her undeniable connection to Graham, the journalist who joins her on the search, begins to drive a considerable wedge between Shea and John, and she makes a surprising choice in the end. I loved the sister dynamic in this book and the imperfect, loving familial relationships. I also loved that it wasn’t cookie-cutter predictable. You don’t have to wait too long to love it either as it’s out May 7th!

Cute premise! Reminded me of all the feelings I had right before I got married.

On the book itself, sadly it's easy to forget you're reading this book as it doesn't GRIP you in a way that you HAVE to know how the characters are going to end up. I mostly read it to fulfill my obligation to NetGalley =-/ Unfortunately, I think that says a lot about the story itself.

Beautiful, enchanting and thought provoking..

I felt like I was in a Nancy Meyers rom com while reading this story and loved every minute of it. This book took you on its own journey, while experiencing Shea's as well. I loved the self-discovery journey she went on and was able to discover things about herself before settling down with marriage. It made you think about your own superstitions and if they hold you back in life. The stories told from each character were thought provoking and tied together so well. Going through Italy and Portugal with them was a dream and you felt like you were right there with them!

I loved this book so much and can't wait for everyone else to enjoy! Thank you Penguin Group for this ARC!

I almost gave up on this book. I am
Not superstitious in any way so I had a very hard time connecting to Shae or the premise of the story. I’m glad I stuck with it and finished because the ending brings us back around to reality.

I would categorize this book as women’s fiction. Romance is more of a side plot. The main story is Shae’s journey of self discovery and healing. I loved the relationship between the sisters.

Thank you @netgalley and @putnambooks for the eARC of The Heirloom by @jessierosenwriter in exchange for an honest review!

📖📖 Book Review 📖📖 Are you superstitious? Shea is wary of heirloom jewelry and the energy it brings from the previous marriage. When her finance, John, proposes with an heirloom rings, she questions the beliefs instilled in her by her Nonna. While Shea is thrilled with her engagement, the origin of the ring catapults her into a journey to discover its story. The Heirloom is a captivating read that explores the beliefs of karma and energy transferred through time. Jessie Rosen creates a beautiful web of relationships and circumstances that force us to dig deep into the past in order to create the future we deserve.

I wish I could give half stars because this sits between three and four.

I really liked the language and writing of this book. I can always tell when I’d get along with an author based on their chosen references and mentioning the movie Only You was fun. I also really liked Shea’s relationship with her sister Annie.

I appreciated the overall premise of tracking down the owner of Shea’s heirloom engagement ring and the character of Graham was very appealing.

What I was less enthralled with was how I was meant to feel about Shea and John being together. He seemed lovely but I wasn’t very invested in them being together which defeated the whole point of caring whether they could marry with the vintage ring.

I guess that muddled things a bit for me. I suppose the point was Shea needing to decide believe she deserved a good relationship which is a good message but for a romance it left me rather ambivalent.

As my 13th read of the year, it feels SO RIGHT that the main character is superstitious.

Shea is a very ✨practical✨ in the superstitions that were passed down to her by her Nonna (the very Italian grandmother). Mainly in that heirloom engagement rings have the potential to bring bad luck.

When her loving boyfriend proposes with an heirloom ring, Shea says “yes” before setting off to find the story behind the ring. If it brought good luck to the previous owner, surely it’ll bring good luck!

Cue a jet-setting, international journey with her sister & a tagalong journalist.

Will Shea find the answers she needs to allow herself to happily accept her loving boyfriend’s proposal?! Or will superstition cloud her chance at love?

This book was nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster and I loved EVERY MOMENT!

Thank you to NetGalley and Jessie Rosen for the ARC. 💖💖

I liked the premise, but this was about 2x as long as necessary, and just.. not that interesting. 😕🤷🏻‍♀️ None of the characters are likable and not that much happens - despite SO MUCH happening, but it's all just.. meh. Disappointing.

This was a really interesting book. I don’t know that I’d categorize it as a romance, as much as a journey of self discovery.

I really liked the premise of chasing the history of a heirloom, as especially as someone that fully believes in the energy that different artifacts carry. That being said, the actually plot I did not enjoy - I think because I found the main character really dislikable. I struggled to connect with her, or be empathetic to her emotional plights.

The setting is lovely and so fun to travel around Italy, Portugal, and several places in the US.
