Interesting story. Gorgeous cover drew me right in. Thanks to the publisher for the advanced copy all opinions are my own

I have to be honest, at times I didn't enjoy the book very much. The ending redeemed the story for me a little bit. I thought the main character Shea was very selfish and she put John, her fiance, through a lot. I didn't like her character most of the book. I understand the draw of finding the history of the engagement ring, but I feel like she alienated John along the way. This book fell middle of the pack for me. The ending helped bring the book to a 3 star read.

Oh my gosh I LOVED this book!
I am usually the sappy, romance, fantasy reader who enjoys her spice so when I learned what The Heirloom was about, it totally took me by surprise when I ended up loving it so much.
This is the type of book that I can see being extremely successful and end up as a movie one day!
I absolutely loved the plot of this book - superstitious women KNOW what they are talking about! Shea only asks for a few things when it comes to a proposal - using an heirloom ring is NOT one of them. When Shea’s boyfriend John finally proposes, it doesn’t necessarily go the way he hoped and it sends Shea searching across the world to find the previous owner of her new (but old) engagement ring.
I can’t wait to get my hands on a physical copy of this book when it comes out and to gift it to all my girlfriends.
The Heirloom makes me want to curl up with a glass of wine and some pasta while I watch the sunset with my sister.

Thank you to PutnamBooks and NetGalley for the ARC!
The premise of this book was intriguing and I was excited to read it. However, I did not like Shea, the protagonist and narrator. She put her fiancé through too much, just to decide whether or not she was going to wear the ring he got her. I struggled to relate to Shea’s superstitious beliefs, that took her across the world with another man. I was expecting Shea to end up with someone else, which would’ve made Shea’s journey and superstitions more understandable. The characters and their motivations fell flat and the ending felt rushed. While I enjoyed finding out the history behind the heirloom ring, this was a solid 3-star read for me.

What a fun and captivating journey of discovering the past of one Heirloom engagement ring. It brought the main character, Shea, on a self discovering journey of why she felt such a strong superstition against being proposed to by a ring that was worn in another marriage. She didn't know the backstory of the Heirloom ring that was given to her on her engagement day, which led her to look into the past of the ring. I thought her own character development was beautiful. and of course I love a good Happily Ever After.

The Heirloom by Jessie Rosen
I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley for review. My opinions are my own.
4/5 stars
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Written by Jessie Rosen, this book takes the reader from LA and NYC to Italy, Portugal, and Boston to uncover the secrets behind an heirloom given to Shea by her fiance, John. Because of her very superstitious Nonna, she is also superstitious about heirloom rings and needs to know the legacy of the ring before it can rest comfortably on her hand.
Along the way, journalist Graham tags along to tell her story and their relationship quickly evolves as Shea learns more about the ring and ultimately, about herself.
The story ends differently than I expected. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing… but it still ended on a positive note.

It's a little bit "Letters to Juliette" and a little bit "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" but with less prose and more active forward motion.
I genuinely believe that the main character is stupid. Girl, if you have such a deep seated gut feeling of "bad omen" about your engagement ring then the ring isn't the source of turmoil- the engagement is. I cannot fathom flying to multiple countries to research the backstory of an heirloom ring just to determine whether your marriage will be doomed. Maybe I read too many fantasy novels because my brain automatically thinks she should have asked a witch to burn some sage and call it a day if she felt such bad vibes.
Regardless of that, this is an interesting story and a very unique premise. I loved the adventurousness and the romantic themes of the original ring owners but I did struggle to be invested in what seemed like a doomed relationship from the start- but I suppose that was the point. As for Graham, I immediately suspected him of being a larger player in the book when he went to Italy while John stayed behind (laaaaame), but I found his determination to tag along on her journey mildly problematic at first. Of course, he grows on the reader immensely as he indulges the FMC's wild superstitions and they open up to each other about what led them on their whirlwind globetrot, but I hold grudges well. Still, the twists and turns of this story made it difficult to know whether I liked him or not at any given moment and by the end I was mesmerized by the journey itself.
This book is a sweeping and romantic story about listening to your instincts and trusting yourself. It is an ode to the idea that timing indeed is everything and that love truly doesn't care where anyone is at in life when it finds them. It shines a beautiful light on the way that things and people can bring heartbreak and joy in equal measures and the book reflects that in its plot and structure as well. There is pain to be felt for this cast of characters and discomfort for the reader through the struggles they face, but there is also something wildly romantic to be felt at the heart of it.
4 stars.

I was not expecting to love The Heirloom as much as I did! From the first chapter I was engrossed in the story of Shea and the superstitions she learned from her Italian grandmother. A major one being no heirloom engagement rings! So when her boyfriend who she always felt was perfect and knew her better than anyone proposes with a vintage ring she decides to go on a quest to find the previous owner of the ring and be sure that they had a happy marriage. This takes her and her sister on trip to Italy with a few other stops along to way to discover the history of the ring. I really enjoyed the writing style of Jessie Rosen and look forward to reading more from her giving this 4 stars and will be recommending it! I want to thank NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ From the publisher Penguin Group : Shea Anderson’s beloved Nonna had endless rules for a happy, healthy life: avoid owls, never put a hat on a bed, and never, ever accept a marriage proposal that comes with an heirloom ring. Happily ever after is hard enough without bad karma in the mix.
Naturally, panic sets in when Shea’s boyfriend, John, proposes with an heirloom ring. Yes is her answer, but Nonna’s warning sets Shea on a mission to ensure the ring contains forever energy: She will find its previous owners wherever they may be. With the help of her long-suffering big sister and a nosy journalist eager for a big story, Shea embarks on a journey that takes her from Los Angeles and New York to Italy and Portugal.
Sophisticated, cinematic, and full of lively observations, The Heirloom is a diamond-sharp read for everyone who’s ever tried to make their own good luck.

My review: I have to admit the whole premise is but much for me. Shea is superstitious about wearing a "used" ring and makes a massive fact finding mission about it. Like why not just sell it and buy another ring?? John seems easy going enough to deal with that and he even suggests it.
Much of Shea’s past is told in flashbacks that just pop up randomly. But we are supposed to understand her obsession with her ring’s history based on some of these glimpses into the past. I kept reading thinking it would get better and lighter and more fun but eh…She spent a lot of money on this trip and she could have just gotten a new ring and worked everything out with John at home.
Maybe I’m not that superstitious but this seemed over the top, even journalist Graham questions. Big sister Annie also tried to get Shea to look at things more rationally, but I think we are supposed to see Shea as determined and focused and not unreasonable.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the attempt and a decent (although not necessary) adventure. Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin group publishing for an advance digital copy in exchange for my review.

Unfortunately, I ended up having to DNF this book because I just was not connecting with it. I think others will enjoy it, it just was not the best fit for me.

When Shea Anderson is presented with an heirloom engagement ring, the superstitions her beloved Nonna ingrained in her take over. What follows is a riveting adventure to discover the history of the engagement ring.
The Heirloom was a beautifully written book about self-discovery and the meaning of love with multiple layers. You will get all the feels as you’re introduced to the varied and lovable characters who make up the ring’s history.
This book drew me in from the first page, like a warm hug, and kept me wanting more until the very last page. Don’t sleep on The Heirloom! Definitely check it out.
I received a copy of this book for free, but I am voluntarily writing this review.

No heirloom engagement rings is a superstitious belief from Shea's Italian grandmother, so when her boyfriend proposes to her with one, what's a girl to do? The Heirloom follows Shea through Italy in an attempt to determine if her heirloom engagement ring has good karma that will in turn lead to a good marriage. I enjoyed the journey of learning more information about the ring and seeing how many memories it held. Unfortunatley, it was difficult to feel committed to Shea's quest when I didn't feel connected to her or her relationship.
Thank you NetGalley, Penguin Group Putnam, and Jessie Rosen for access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was lucky enough to win an e-ARC of THE HEIRLOOM by Jessie Rosen through a Shelf Awareness giveaway. Thank you for the early look, and have a safe and happy Valentine's Day!

A fluffy book with a solid premise but the story itself felt a bit overworked and I didn't really connect with the characters.

A fun idea for a story! I think a lot of people fixate on their superstitions and it was interesting to read Shea’s absolute obsession with hers. It was fun to travel with her through multiple cities and countries to track down the history of her heirloom engagement ring. The cast of characters were all exciting and vibrant.
Two main things that took me out. One was the ending: it both fizzled out and felt abrupt. There was a mostly consistent pace as Shea zig-zagged in pursuit of her truth, and then she arrived home in LA and just got stuck. We had a time jump explained away as “I read a lot of self-help books”, then some unexpected family closure. After that, it ends. It was frustrating that this book, which felt like a whirlwind for 80% of it, slid to a stop.
Second was that Shea ended up with John. I liked that she learned more about herself and why she had such strong opinions on love & superstitions. But because we got an abrupt ending and then another time jump into the epilogue, we didn’t see any of the growing Shea did, so her ending up with John wasn’t satisfying.
Overall I enjoyed so much of this book but was disappointed by the ending.

I was really excited to read this book based on the immediate description. Unfortunately the book fell flat. I think my favorite part was half way through the book when she found the first owner of the ring and we heard some of that story. I thought it was really sweet and that there could have been a beautiful story from there.
The premise is also a little bit wild, traveling to different countries to find out the history of a ring that your fiancé just gave you made it abundantly clear she was not ready to marry him and honestly would be incredibly frustrating. Her fiancé was understanding, maybe a little too understanding.
It was an okay read and there were certainly moments that kept me hooked.

This...kinda felt flat to me. I loved all the descriptions of the travels and new locations, but character wise I didn't really care to be invested in their story. Wanted to skim and finish it as a fluff read.

Thanks for the opportunity to read this early! It definitely was a skimmer book and and quick read. Unfortunately not one of my favs.

This was a cute little read. I enjoyed this book quite a bit. Yes, it may not be for everyone, Wanted a little more from the characters but I think this was a good palette cleanser if you're looking for something fun to read. I loved the traveling aspect of the story and thought it was well done. I would definitely read more books from this author.

I found myself wanting to skim this book instead of focusing on what I was reading. The part about this book that I loved most was the travel aspect. The romance in this book was not over the top mushy, which isn't bad. But the characters fell flat for me and just left me wanting more. Instead of being viewed as a romance book, I would love to see this marketed/labeled more as a book for people looking for figure out their lives and grow into a better version of themselves. Not a flop, but not one I would read again.
