What an absolute delight of a read. I was sucked into this story, more so an adventure against the backdrop of beautiful world travels, than it was a romance. Where the story did lose me at times, though, was the focus on the superstition. And even though I understand why it had to end the way it did, Graham was quite likable, and was sad not to see his story resolved.

One Line Review: When superstitious Shay receives an heirloom ring during her proposal, she sets her mind to making sure that she isn't inheriting any bad luck from its previous owners.
Synopsis: Shay holds the advice her Nonna has given her near and dear to her heart, even if they are based deeply in superstition. She grew up knowing not to accept a proposal if the ring has been worn by someone else, however the life of her life does exactly that. Panic sets in, and Shea resolves herself to discovering who its previous owners were, and what kind of love they had in their lives. Was it extraordinary? Was it fleeting? She has to know before she fully commits and walks down the aisle. Curiosity coupled with fear leads her on a worldwide adventure filled with hope, adventure and self-discovery.
My Thoughts: 4.5 stars, I absolutely adored this novel and couldn't put it down. As a daughter and granddaughter of a family full of superstitions, I related heavily to Shay's desire to surround herself with positive energy and good luck. I will continue to recommend this book!!!
It was engaging at times, but at others, I wasn't entertained. I thought the story was a good concept. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
3.8 - an enjoyable read and storyline! i could see this as some mini series. the long path to the rings first owner was interesting but i think the ending could have been wrapped sooner.
The Heirloom by Jessie Rosen is a heartwarming and charming story that explores the power of family, tradition, and superstition. Shea Anderson's Italian grandmother, Nonna, had a long list of rules for a happy and healthy life. However, when it comes to love and marriage, Shea's Nonna has one specific rule that she must never break - never accept a marriage proposal that comes with an heirloom ring. This leads Shea to search out the owner of the ring her fiance uses to propose to her.
The story is filled with moments of humor, heartbreak, and self-discovery, which will resonate with readers of all ages. Shea's journey to find her own path and break away from her Nonna's strict rules is a universal theme that many can relate to. The family dynamics portrayed in the novel are also beautifully depicted, showing the complexities and unconditional love that exist within a family.
Overall, The Heirloom is a heartwarming and delightful read that will appeal to readers of all genres. Rosen's writing is engaging, the characters are well-developed, and the plot is both entertaining and thought-provoking. This is a perfect novel for anyone looking for a feel-good story that will leave you with a smile on your face. I highly recommend The Heirloom to anyone looking for a charming and captivating read.

The best way I can describe this book is ‘up and down’. It went from being engaging in the beginning, to a total drag near the middle, before picking up towards the end. It was a struggle for me to finish, and I ended up not agreeing with the way it ended. I did enjoy the character growth of the leading lady, Shea, but I frequently found her annoying and tedious.
That said, I can be picky with my romance selections. I appreciated that it leaned more towards women’s fiction, and wasn’t mushy or spicey.
I’d give it a 2.75 ⭐️, rounded up to 3 for GoodReads.
2.5 stars
This book has a lot going for it, jet setting from LA to Italy, Lisbon, NYC, and Boston to solve a family mystery, romance, forgiveness, grief. But maybe it tries to do too much because I found myself skimming much of last half of the book.
I couldn’t get on board from the get go when the main character has 4 absolutes in her life- one of which is to never be proposed to with heirloom jewelry. It was just too much and so specific. The author eventually explains it at the end. But to start the whole premise of the book like that within 3 pages, wasn’t believable and honestly made her unlikeable from the get go.
This was a pretty fun read, if you like Before I Do by Sophie Cousen, you'll like this one too! I loved the philosophy and therapy-ish stuff at the end!
TWs - sudden death of parent (past, but grief in present), absent/abusive parent

This book was an interesting read and not what I was expecting. I do think it could have been cut by 50 pages, and that the ending while good, needed to be a bit more fleshed out. It followed the main character who is on a quest to find out the history of her engagement ring. With that journey comes realizations and emotional growth for our main character.
The cover is beautiful and I think this will be a hit for a lot of readers. It's the perfect warm weather/ beach read for me!
"The Heirloom is a diamond-sharp read for everyone who’s ever tried to make their own good luck."

While this was a fast read and it did fall a little flat for me. The characters weren't really relatable and Shea was annoying me at time with her stubbornness. The story is more about self discovery and finding oneself after so much loss. There were parts that I flew through with great interest and then there would be parts I was scanning over as I felt it didn't add any value to the story. I did like how the author wrapped up the story and gave it a good ending, I was worried for a few minutes there! I did like that it didn't end exactly as I thought it would, so it was not predictable in that way. This author writes well and I would definitely try another book from her.

Shea and John have the ideal relationship but when John proposes with an heirloom ring, Shea’s superstitions surface. If you believe Shea’s Nonna, an heirloom ring carries the energy of those who wore it prior – and you should never get engaged with an heirloom ring. This sets the stage for a trip across the world from Los Angeles to New York, Italy, Portugal, and Boston to uncover the history of the ring’s prior owners. She needs to know that this ring will only bring good karma into her marriage. While John stays behind in Los Angeles, Shea’s sister and a new friend, reporter Graham, who believes this could be his next big story join Shea on her adventure.
First, I love the concept of the heirloom ring and the energy it brings. This is what first drew me to this story. At times their adventure became a bit farfetched for me because who honestly would go to these lengths? Overall, I enjoyed following Shea’s quest to find the ring’s prior owners. Each person she encountered brought a unique twist by unearthing their past relationships. I think one of the things that pleased me the most about this story is that I thought I knew how it was going to end, but I was wrong. The last quarter of the book brought a greater depth to this story than I had anticipated, and I feel like this story ended perfectly for Shea.

I wasn’t quite sure what the moral of this story wanted to be. I really liked the quest in the beginning but after the sister fight and the conflict with Graham, the story fell apart a little. The ending, to me, needed to be more fleshed out (both in description and in understanding of the timeline) to really make sense. I still enjoyed this and would be interested to see more from this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam G.P. Putnam's Sons for allowing me to read an ARC of The Heirloom by Jessie Rosen in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book! Hesitation when a boyfriend proposes? Check. Spur of the moment trip to Italy? Check. Feelings (real or imagined?) for another man? Check.
What some would consider unrealistic, in this case, can be explained by the motivation of fear. What I first thought to be selfishness on Shea's part was actually fear, and fear is a powerful motivator.
If you find yourself wondering where this story is going, keep reading.
I will definitely recommend this book to others, and I look forward to reading more by Jessie Rosen.
I loved this book a lot more than I was expecting to! It was funny and whimsical with a lot of heart as well. I’ll definitely be recommending this to family and friends! I really enjoyed this book overall!
This was just okay. The plot had potential but there were some holes. Characters felt like they had a little depth and I enjoyed the whimsical part of this. I'd market it more towards fiction than romance!
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the ARC of this book. It was an easy read and I was able to get through it in about a day. For the most part, I really enjoyed it. The concept behind the book as a fun one and the main character was well developed and relatable.
The books follows Shea on the heels of her engagement to her long term boyfriend, John. Despite Shea's superstition regarding heirloom rings, he chooses to propose with one due to the sentimental place where he purchased it. This sets Shea on a mission to find the original owner of the ring to make sure it doesn't carry bad "energy" from a previous unsuccessful marriage. This mission sends her to Italy, Portugal and Boston. Her sister tags along as well as a journalist, Graham, who is interested in turning the search into a story. John, the fiance, stays behind in LA. It's essentially a wild goose chase trying to track everyone down and Shea ponders her relationship and her complicated emotions regarding love along the way. Overall, the book was well written and had a sweet ending but I felt like the character of John was underdeveloped. I would've liked to see more details about their relationship and why they were in love in the first place. I felt like Shea's childhood and past trauma from being a child of divorce played more of a role and John was more a side note. A little more detail there would've been nice. Regardless, I would recommend this book and will definitely read others by this author in the future. Thanks for the opportunity to review it!
I was asked to review the novel, “The Heirloom” by Jessie Rosen. I had just finished grading exams and this story was the perfect antidote.
Shea is overjoyed when her Prince Charming John proposes until her Nonna warns her that because the ring is an heirloom, her marriage could end unhappily ever after. As a result, Shea seeks to find out more about the ring’s previous owners, traveling to both coasts as well as Italy and Portugal.
I love a good adventure story and I found this tale to be sweet and light-hearted. Expect this to be more of a story of personal growth versus romance which was perfectly fine with me.
Four out of five stars.
Thank you, PENGUIN GROUP Putnam and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for a honest review.
This was an easy read with an interesting story line however it isn’t something that will stick with me. I didn’t feel connected to the places or people and found myself skimming more often than not.
Cute "chick flick" type storyline with a romance entwined! Fans of Abby Jimenez and Emily Henry would enjoy this. I'd never heard of this book or the author, but thanks to Netgalley I now have a new author to look out for!
This book was an interesting read. As we followed the main character through a journey to find the history of her engagement ring, we also watch her learn and grow emotionally. I enjoyed her journey and the plot.
