Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
This was a nice romance and slight mystery novel. Usually I’m not a fan of romance novels but I found this one enjoyable and hard to put down.
Thank you to Netgalley for giving me an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
The Blue Iris was a heartwarming story of friendship, love and loss. All combined into one it made a really nice story. I could have done without all the silly comparisons to flowers, but it was sweet enough. Hard to believe this was just a debut from this author and I will most likely keep this author in mind to check in on another story written by her.
If I’m not reading a book set in a bookshop or library, then a flower shop is the next best thing and I thought that for a debut novel, this was a great first outing. I loved the setting and the fact that the author defined each chapter with a different species of flowers. I thought that the characters were well crafted and that this book would make a great gift for a girlfriend or a book club pick.
Thank you to Netgalley and Koehler Books for a copy of this book.
Not the book for me, I'm afraid. The plot was contrived and some of the more flowery similes were unintentionally hilarious. I really should just avoid romance as I just don't like it.
Wow! It's honestly hard to believe this is a debut novel. The characters were relatable and the storyline was engaging. Great book to cozy up to this fall.
The Blue Iris is the first book I have ever read by this author. The plot and characters - amazing. Once you get into a few chapters you do not want to leave the book. Such a wonderful story. I will be reading more by her. Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to read this book!
Rachel Stone has penned an exemplary debut novel! The plotline is full of twists and turns which compel you to keep on reading and at the same time you don't want the book to end. The story's characters are well defined, fascinating, quirky, frustrating, loveable, and invincible. The setting of the flower market and how the chapters are all defined by different species of flowers is unique and intriguing. I recommend you pick this book up, find your coziest reading nook, and immerse yourself in this story that will keep you riveted and engaged from beginning to end!
