Book was very fast paced, and the action in it was good. But the back story of it was a little dull. Wish there were more mixed media in it.
An interesting read. A guy with a past that he wants to forget trying to exist in a new career, but being dragged back into his memories.
The book was okay, a reasonable story line that takes the reader along with it. It felt a bit stilted on occasion, but not enough to mar the overall general enjoyment from it.
I don’t know the author’s history, but this felt like an early publication. I think there is enough there to make it worth following along and seeing what is next released.
This was great! I enjoyed how well the suspense builds up throughout the book and how well thought out the book is. I think it has a good pace and is the perfect length. I would recommend this to those who enjoy stories with suspense. Special Thank You to Maxwell Cross, the publisher (if applicable, listed as independently published on NetGalley) and NetGalley for allowing me to read a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
The mystery surrounding why Jeff is linked to bombings in his home town was intriguing. However I felt the book was missing something or should have been longer in order to fully capture the suspense surrounding the situation. I would have love to see how Jeff would get revenge on the bombers and possibly travel to take out the last one responsible (aka hopefully a sequel?). Overall I enjoyed the story!
Vital Response by Maxwell Cross.
Unmasking the Shadows.
Jeff McCoy had worked incredibly hard to leave behind his old life. These days, he worked hard at his construction job and kept his head down. To the unassuming eye, there wasn’t much more to him.
When Jeff suddenly starts receiving anonymous text messages with outrageous requests and threats to set off bombs around the city, he finds himself back in the throes of his murky past.
With the clock ticking, Jeff must prevent the attacks and unmask the mysterious messenger who seems to know him so well.
Why are they targeting Jeff? What is their motive?
One thing is certain: the life that Jeff has been running from has finally caught up with him.
Can Jeff unmask the bomber and save his city? Will he finally put his past to rest? Or will there be more blood on his hands?
I did enjoy this book. I liked McCoy. I do hope there is more to come. 5*.
