Intrigue from page one. Secrets abound. Characters kept the story moving quickly. Realistic characters. A mother knows the little boy is not her baby. She had a girl. This is frightening. This talented author has written about a baby switched. While fiction, this book reads like nonfiction at times. Secrets and red herrings…thanks to Netgalley for the book.
Almost a little too condensed. I like books that get the point across quickly, but this may have been too quickly. Still not a bad story. A mother always knows best! I also feel like the bad guy gave up too easily.
Thanks net galley for this short but interesting story about Maggie all alone and about to give birth. It was not supposed to happen that night there was a terrible storm outside lights were off and her husband was away.
She was terrified as she had lost a baby two years ago but strength and determination made her deliver a beautiful baby girl, she was perfect and then they both fell asleep.
On awakening she was not alone Ivan was there congratulating her on giving birth to a beautiful boy, it was not a boy it was a girl she had given birth to.
What is going on Maggie knew she had delivered a girl, where’s my baby gone.
Mothers worst nightmare! I didn't realize this was a short story but I'm glad it was! It didn't drag on at all and got me hooked right away! Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

This book definitely peaked my interest right from the get go. Magnolia, a midwife, is home alone, there is a huge storm and her water breaks 3 weeks early. She delivers her baby girl on her own. After she cleans up, the baby is asleep, she falls asleep herself. When she wakes up, her husband is home and holding their baby boy. Magnolia is convinced that the baby her husband is holding is not hers however, due to the loss of their daughter a year earlier that ended in a psychiatric hospital stay, no one quite believes what she is saying. I will be completely honest and say that I found the story line a little bit predictable as to what happened and found the ending to be a little bit rushed. With that being said, Anya Mora’s writing still had me hooked and had me wanting to get through the book to see if my predictions were correct as there were times that I was questioning myself. I do enjoy Anya Mora’s books and will be reading more in the future!
Thank you to Netgalley and Joffe Books for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Never question a mother’s intuition, Magnolia is giving birth in the middle of a storm on an island and she’s alone, as a midwife she knows she can do it and it soon holding a lovely baby girl in her arms she wakes to see her husband holding the baby... Except it isn't her baby, it is a little boy.
A short story which I raced through, very enjoyable would highly recommend.

This book was much shorter than I thought it would be, so I do wish it lasted longer. The plot was intense which I would have loved to read more of. Overall, I really enjoyed this book! I was hooked from the first page and read it in one sitting! I can’t wait to see what else this author has to create!
Thank you to Netgalley and Joffe Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very quick thriller and I’m glad the plot wasn’t drawn out. I think the reasoning was a bit thin, but we don’t spend a whole lot of time with these characters. The book was okay - it was an interesting concept and a fast read, but I didn’t particularly like or dislike it.
Not my baby was a very quick excellent thriller which had me gripped could not put it down. It is a fast paced thriller with crazy twists and turns. Definitely recommend this don’t let the length put you off there is enough of the story in the short book. Thanks to netgallery and the publisher for an advanced copy.
This was one wild ride. The ending seemed a tiny bit predictable to me, but it was still shocking nonetheless.
This was a really interesting examination of motherhood, from the angle of a thriller. Reading it as a mother myself, and one who has struggled with postpartum mental health, made it even more so. Though I’ve never experienced the loss of a child, there were still parallels that could be drawn between grief and “regular” postpartum depression and anxiety.
Though it was a short read, there was quite a lot packed in. I would have loved to see maybe a dual-POV so we could see an outside perspective on Magnolia and how she may have appeared from a third party. I can appreciate the single-POV view as well though.
Overall a fast and very enjoyable read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC!
Thankyou NetGalley and Joffe for this eCopy to review
Not My Baby is short quick read. I found Magnolia OK but felt her fear could have been more palpable. Despite being a short read the story still felt drawn out. Her husband's about turn seems a bit sudden at the end and magically everything is sorted out. The setting could have been described more as well it sounds like such a beautiful place in the San Juan Islands I would have loved to read more about them.
Warning, this book describes multiple stillbirths, prenatal and postpartum anxiety and depression, which may be upsetting for some
Thus book was a decent read, very short but worth reading! It had suspense, intrigue, mystery, kidnapping, and a few crazy twists and turns! The storyline was interesting and flawed nicely! I would recommend reading this book, if you like short stories! I'm not a big fan of them but its worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
NOT MY BABY

Thank you to Net Galley and Joffe for an e-ARC of this novella in exchange for an honest review.
The book was good for me. I did read this in one setting. It was a good ending as well. I would recommend it for a day read.
I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I probably would not have requested this book had I known how short it was but I am so glad that I did. It was such a good book that I was able to read in a day. I liked all the characters and the twist and the fact that it didn't drag out. It was a really good read and I highly recommend.
Thanks Netgalley for my ARC of this novella. I didn't realise it was a short story at first but I still found myself skipping through it
It was a bit out there in the end and I'm afraid just not for me.
It took until 80% in for the twist/truth to be shared
Unfortunately I was just not gripped enough by this book
This book was a lot shorter read than I was expecting however that was not evident by all of the details that the author put in this story. This book had a great plot which was almost emphasized by the length because it let the author only focus on the important details rather than having a bunch of filler added. The best part about this book was that there were only a small amount of characters so you really got invested in them. The book starts off really strong. Our main character Magnolia is desperate to have a baby, when she suddenly gets her wish, however delivering that baby all by herself in the middle of a snow storm was not part of that perfect picture. She brushes all of that off because matter how her child came into this world it doesn't matter because the look in her daughter's eyes made her whole world stop. When she wakes up after the exhaustion of labour to find her husband there holding their baby she is very confused because the child he is holding isn't their precious daughter at all but an infant boy. Where is their daughter? Where did this boy come from? I loved how the author really grasped Magnolias terror and confusion and her almost feral reactions to her missing daughter it was so realistic to a real mother that you really felt her pain and terror. I loved how even in the face of serious consequences for her beliefs she never wavered. It should be a given but I think the plot was the best part about this book. It was fast paced and nothing like anything I have read before. This book will have you on the edge of your seat dying to figure out what is going on. Don't let the length fool you because as they say good things come in small packages. I'm so glad I got the chance to read this book it checked off all day of my literary boxes. Check this out ASAP if you haven't already you won't regret it but you will regret missing out on it that's for sure.
Thank you Joffe Books and NetGalley for an early copy of Not My Baby. This was a very fast read, I knew right from the beginning what happened but there was a wild twist that I never saw coming. I loved how it played out and the ending made me smile. A mothers intuition is usually Right!!!
Read this book in one sitting - felt quite short however it was enough to tell the story and keep me on the edge of my seat!
Spend the whole time wondering who was telling the truth and had a nice twist which I look for in a psychological thriller
Overall really enjoyable quick read !
Magnolia has longed for a baby and been through a lot of heartache to get her child. As she gives birth alone during a storm, she feels so much love for her little girl. Then she wakes to see her husband holding the baby... Except it isn't her baby, it is a little boy who she knows isn't the baby she gave birth to... What is going on and how can Magnolia get anyone to believe her after her past mental health issues... A brilliant thriller that really does keep you guessing. A quick read that you won't be able to put down. Brilliant, loved it!
This was my first book to read by this author and it was a great book! Although short the story kept you engaged right from the beginning to the end!
I look forward to reading more from this author!
