We stand for a cute Christmas romance especially when it mixes HGTV with spice. I ate this book up. This was the perfect read to get into the Christmas spirit. Small town grump meets dazzling badass renovation TV star. We love to see it. I can't explain how good this book was, so I guess you'll have to read it for yourself ;)
The Christmas Fix
Cue the waterworks. Oh my goodness, this one was just the perfect dose of Christmas magic. ✨
The Gist:
The Christmas Fix is book 2 in the Fixer Upper duo. It’s listed as a stand alone also, which would probably be fine, but I def advise reading Paige & Gannon’s story first!
Cat returns to the town of Merry to clean up after a hurricane wrecks the town. The grumpy city manager loathes Cat, her fixer upper show, and doesn’t want her to help clean up.
Things I loved:
-Single Dad Trope
-Paige & Gannon snippets
- Cat’s heart for helping
-🎄 Christmas theme!
My Reflection:
I absolutely love Lucy’s book, but this one was so heartfelt! I was crying over Merry in the first like 10%. 🫣😂

The Christmas Fix by Lucy Score is the perfect Hallmark style romance book, with a little more spice. When Cat comes into the small town of Merry to do a Christmas TV special after a devastating flood, Noah the town manager is less than thrilled. He believes Cat is a stuck up celebrity, and well she thinks he's a down right ass. This sets off into a very comical enemies to lovers story that I enjoyed quite a lot (despite not usually loving Enemy to Lover story lines). The whole story is charming, and leaves you rooting for Cat, Noah, and honestly every single character in this book. It's a super quick read, making it a great book to curl up by the fireplace with and drink some cocoa this holiday season. It definitely gets spicy in parts, so if you are more of a closed door romance reader, be aware of that. As my first Lucy Score book, it was fantastic and I'll be checking out more very soon.
This was my first book from Lucy Score, which apparently was a second in series, but could be read as a standalone and I wasn't confused reading this one first. I enjoyed it but I'm not in a rush to read any others just yet.
Catalina "Cat" King is the star of a reality home renovation show similar to Extreme Home Makeover along with her twin brother, and this brash Brooklyn babe takes no nonsense. When the town of Merry, Connecticut, site of a former renovation, finds itself in the direct path of a hurricane similar to Superstorm Sandy, she has the idea to go back to the town to fix the home they had previously renovated, as well as get the town prepared for their famous Christmas festival in a few short weeks. Uptight city manager Noah Yates is vehemently opposed to the idea, thinking that Cat is a vapid, soulless reality TV harpy who is looking to profit off of his townspeople's suffering. Cat is gravely insulted and let's Noah have it like only a NY girl can. She's not quite sure why he gets under her skin, unlike other men who have underestimated her in the past. After a night out at the town's only bar, rigid single dad Noah let's go of his inhibitions and an argument with Cat in the alleyway turns steamy. Cat is willing to keep things casual because of her nomadic lifestyle, but Noah, with the responsibilities of a preteen daughter and town who needs him, need something more. As they continue to sneak behind closed doors and job opportunities across the country present themselves to Cat, she has to evaluate what she truly wants out of life.
For the first half of the book, I actually didn't like Cat much at all. I knew this would eventually make for some 🔥 enemies to lovers exchanges later in the story, which did not disappoint. I much preferred Noah's character, who was responsible and dependable but when he let loose...🥵 This was definitely the kind of book where the second half made up for the first for me. It was a fast read, and while home renovation and reality TV aren't my favorite themes, I did end up enjoying this one more than I initially thought I would.

Thank you to @Sourcebooks @bloombooks @netgalley for my digital ARC in return for an honest review
Thank you to NetGalley for providing a digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Reality fixer upper star Cat storms into Merry to save it from a flood during the holiday season at the reluctance of town manager Noah. Some witty banter that breaks down the walls each have built up unveils a glimmer of something. The perfect combo of a small town romance no one saw coming (except us the reader) and the holiday heat we come to expect from Lucy Score!
Thank you to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Bloom Books, and, I can’t believe I get to say this again, Lucy Score, for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review! (Just in time for Christmas!)
I would let Lucy Score write on my forehead with a sharpie —scratch that—a tattoo gun, just for a chance to read something that she’s written. She writes strong, feisty women. She writes heartwarming, inclusive small towns. Better than anything, in my opinion, she writes devastating men.
And the most heartwarming, absolutely devastating, small-town man showed up in this novel. The grumpy Mr. No himself. Noah, like every mmc of Lucy’s that I’ve ever read, was perfectly hostile. Is it a red flag of mine if that has me skipping around and kicking my feet?? Maybe! But you’re just going to have to find out for yourself how all of the hostility gets sorted out. You’re welcome in advance.
And we mustn’t forget Cat, the fearless ball of energy with big dreams of making the world, and especially Merry, a better place to live in. Does she have a spot in her schedule for Mr. Right? (Or Mr. No!)
But also the important things too, like can Christmas be saved for the small, holiday-spirit-filled town of Merry??

‘Tis the Season to be in Merry!
If you haven’t been enchanted by a Lucy Score book, perhaps the Bloom release of The Christmas Fix (only to be precluded by Mr. Fixer Upper) will be the fix for your holiday romance set in a small town (duh) craving.
Because who isn’t craving a small town, holiday romance at this time of year? There’s an entire network who has cornered the market on cozy holiday romances, but what they can’t deliver on is the superb repartee of Lucy Score characters and the spice that kindles even the coldest of grinchy hearts. Not to mention, Lucy Score guarantees a happily ever after and epilogues that would satisfy absolutely everyone.
The Christmas Fix premise is simple. Devastated by flooding the small town of Merry is in dire need of a fix or all the of holiday revenue that gets them through the winter is lost, the residents displaced, and the businesses shuttered. Noah is the Town Planner and the man tasked with saving his small town. His only option is partnering with Catalina (Cat) a superstar in the renovation world and current star of a hit show on a home and building network. Cat is more than ready to roll up her sleeves and put in the long hours it would take to get Merry up and running by Christmas Eve, but Noah wants nothing to do with it.
“If people wanted to keep putting her in the pretty Barbie box, she was just going to keep cutting and smashing her way out over and over again until they learned her lesson.”
Luckily for him, Cat doesn’t back down from the surly single dad, and Noah hasn’t got any other options. At every interaction Cat and Noah’s chemistry is off the charts. Their animosity and banter are catnip for enemies to lover’s fans. Although I particularly enjoyed that Noah and his ex are amicable co-parents for their daughter. That portrayal of a modern co-parenting relationship is refreshing when so many exes are depicted as the antagonist of many storylines.
Lucy Score always delivers on plenty of lead up with foreplay mixed with banter and ultimately plenty of smoldering spice. The cast of characters from previous books made it thoroughly enjoyable. Even though it’s been years since I read Mr. Fixer Upper when it first released, I can say that I didn’t miss out on any of the details so The Christmas Fix can easily be read as a standalone.
If you’re looking for a holiday romance that delivers a cozy HEA but doesn’t skimp on the banter and the spice then look no further. The Christmas Fix is available everywhere you want to buy a book and is also available in audiobook too! Bee sure to look for Darienne’s review of Mr. Fixer Upper as well!
It started off promising, but took a nose dive about 50% in when the story started to drag and then the sex scenes were over top, Just not for me! DNF at 60%.
Thank you very much to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for the advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This was such a cute Christmas read! A true enemies to lovers. The hate was real strong but the sparks were hot! Noah was so cute being all Mr. No but I really loved how Cat pulled him out of his shell. Cat was a strong and independent FMC and I enjoyed her sarcasm. The transformation of the town was really fun to read. I hadn't read the first book in the series but after seeing Gannon and Paige, I definitely want to read it. I was very happy with the ending and the epilogue was 😍
Thank you to Bloom Books and the author for my copy in exchange for an honest review.
A wonderful novel of a reality TV star who finds a town called Merry that has just suffered from a storm flooding the town. She wants to make this her next fix it reality show. So she goes straight in and helps with the rescue of those who are trapped in their homes from the flood, because she cares. Mr. grumpy aka Mr. No wants nothing to do with a reality TV show in his town.
This enemies to lovers story had me laughing and then swooning in the end. You’ll find yourself so very captivated from the start. You’ll fall hard for these characters in the town of Merry pretty fast. I loved every second of it, never wanting it to end.
Bravo Lucy for another amazing book to love!!
It's been a while since I read a book by Lucy Score, so I thought what better way to get reacquainted with her writing than a Christmas romance. Unfortunately, it didn't work out quite the way I wanted it to for a bunch of reasons. That's not to say they weren't things I did like about it.
I wish when Bloom books decided to publish this 2017 book traditionally, they would have edited it more. It could have been longer and switched from third to first person narration. The third person felt clunk and made it hard for me to connect with and like the characters and to feel their chemistry. The first half was boring and a struggle to get through. I almost didn't finish it. I ended up skimming it to get to the good stuff in the second half after reading some older reviews that said the second half was the best part of the book. That was true.
I didn't always like the characters in this book. Noah was a jerk for a bunch of it. He was judgmental towards Cat without truly getting to know her or understand what she was trying to do. It's blamed on his childhood and experiences, but still. It made it hard to root for his character... until he admitted he was wrong. and redeemed himself. Cat wasn't much better at times. She was right there bantering and throwing insults at Noah. Cat's negative body image and the comments that went with it rubbed me wrong. It's not that people don't do the things she did or talk the way she did about it, but it left me with an icky feeling.
All of that may make it seem like I hated this book. I didn't. There were some good things, too. I can now see how Score's writing has improved over the years. I might not have liked Noah for a while, but as he came around so did I. Same for Cat. I enjoyed when Noah and Cat worked together to solve the problem rather than fight with each other. Their romance had all the Hallmark vibes with a spicy side. Overall, this ended up being a decent holiday romance read.
So far I have loved every single Lucy Score book out there and this one was also a pick of my bookclub. And this one was so good!!!! I was drawn in from the very first page and finished this in two days. I can not wait to talk about this book at bookclub and see how many other books from this author I can put on our line up.
This one follows two characters that I fell in love with. This was all the Hallmark feels but with some MAJOR Spice and dirty talk. And I was here for it. Even though it did get a little much towards the end. The two epilogues were fabulous I always want to know what characters are doing years later. So being able to get that information was a dream come true.
At the time that I made this review I did not know that this was a book two!!! So fair warning if you read this first you will spoil your self for Mr. Fixer Upper
3.5 stars
Really cute story! And with a cover make over just in time for Christmas!
While I liked Mr. Fixer Upper more, I still enjoyed this one! I really loved Noah. I like how shy and kinda nerdy he is, but then !!'baby lock the door and turn the lights down low. and this man is on FIRE.
It took me a while to connect with Cat. She's a bit of a wild card, a little unsettled. Shes got a lot of drive and quietly caring, and that's what got me.
If you've read Mr. Fixer Upper, you'll see some familiar faces in this book, which is always fun! I love seeing the little "after" moments when their official story is over.
Lucy!! Another perfect book and this is the best time of the year so it was perfect timing for this read. I just loved these two so much!
love this romance and enemies to lovers and finding a way to have a relationship. loved the town of merry and being a small town. loved his daughter and finding a place to a relationship.
another lucy score masterpiece!!! i swear she is the queen of small town romances. i ate this up so fast! what more could someone want? small town, single dad AND christmas???? YEAH. it gave exactly what i needed it to!!
This was a really cute holiday read with fun characters and plenty of spice. It was the perfect read to get me in the holiday spirit. I really enjoyed Cat and Noah's banter and back and forth. They start out as a mild version of enemies to hot and steamy lovers. It just gave you the warm and fuzzies throughout the story and I really enjoyed it.
The Christmas Fix by Lucy Score
Rating: ⭐⭐.5 (2.5 stars)
So, I dove into Lucy Score's "The Christmas Fix," ready for some holiday sparkle and romance. Let me tell you, it was a bit of a mixed bag.
First things first, Cat's character totally won me over. In a world where celebs often come off as snobby and stuck up, Cat was a breath of fresh air. Down-to-earth, relatable – she's the kind of famous person you'd actually want to hang out with. Thumbs up for that!
Now, the love story between Cat and Noah – buckle up because it's a wild ride. Enemies to lovers in, like, 2-3 chapters? That's warp speed. Some folks might be into that, but for me, it felt a bit like skipping the good parts. And after that, it's like the story hit cruise control. Predictable twists and turns from there on out.
And let's talk about Sara, who's supposed to be 12 but acts more like 16. Seriously, it's hard to keep up. Her age and her actions just didn't sync up, making it a bit of a head-scratcher. I found myself wondering if I missed a time jump somewhere.
I really wanted to love this book more than I did. Cat's cool, and the holiday setting had potential. But the speedy romance and the predictability took away some of the magic. If you're into quick love stories and don't mind knowing where things are headed, "The Christmas Fix" might be your cup of cocoa. But if you're looking for a bit more surprise and depth, you might want to unwrap a different holiday read.
I just reviewed the Christmas Fix by Lucy Score thanks to #NetGalley

Tropes::single dad, small town romance, grump/sunshine, enemies to lovers, slow burn, holiday romance
The Christmas fix by Lucy Score is a highly anticipated Christmas holiday romance novel that is the second book of a series but can be read on its own. This book is a male female relationship dynamic. The main male character Noah is a single dad of a twelve year old girl who lives in a small town and has a grump personality. The female character is cat which is short for Catalina is a reality tv star that fixes homes and things she is a work alcoholic and is very stubborn and strong willed. Cat goes to the town of merry to fix multiples houses and buildings with her tv show. Throughout the first half of this book these two characters struggle with their hate for each other .One scene they kiss and then things change very quickly to them being a secret fling. They sneak around throughout the last half of the book and he has her hide from his daughter. The ending is them realizing how much they want to be together and the school she builds ends up in merry.
My thoughts on this book:
It was incredibly slow and one of the most boring slow burn romance books I’ve read.
The buildup was extremely painful to try to get through and I had to stop reading several times because I couldn’t deal. I hate if I don’t finish books or hate books but this was absolutely predictable and slow and I struggled to want to keep reading . I didn’t love how childish this felt. The fact that they hid around was ridiculous. Cat trying to decide between her job and love was exhausting. They didn’t have good communication and I hated that they didn’t even kiss or anything until about halfway in and every scene just felt very anticlimactic. I kept hoping that things would get better but they never did. I was left completely exhausted and honestly wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.
