Super cute HGTV meets Christmas Hallmark read. Grumpy meets Sunshine. Strong female character. Lovable male character.
I originally read this about a year ago but after the book was rereleased I decided to give it a read again. Tropes include:
-Christmas
-enemies to lovers
-small town
-hallmark movie vibes
Catalina is a host of a makeover show. She wants to host a show in Merry, Con. Merry gets hit with a hurricane. Noah, the town representative wants nothing to do with Cat or her show in Merry. Miraculously Cat convinces Noah to let her help Merry. Help not only him rebuild but other residents of the town and to host her show and to give the town a great holiday festival. Another great book from Lucy
Massive thanks to NetGalley & Bloom Publishing for the gifted copy, which I voluntarily read & reviewed.
The Christmas Fix by Lucy Score is a smile-inducing heartwarming holiday romance that is perfect for sweet & spicy romance fans.
This is book #2 in the Fixer series, but this is the first book I’ve read & it can easily be read as a standalone .
As someone that’s read at least 10 Lucy Score books, I shouldn’t be surprised by my absolute love for this book, but she absolutely did it again!
She perfectly combines the beauty pf small towns, the unwavering love of families, can’t-look-away romances with heat & heart along with enough feels & holiday cheer to generate all the lights at a Christmas parade.
The Christmas Fix is perfect for fans of…
🎄Grumpy Sunshine
🎄Single Dad
🎄Opposites Attract
🎄Enemies to Lovers
🎄Reality TV Star in a Small Town
The reality tv show coming in to help rebuild the town after a terrifying & heartbreaking hurricane disaster had my immediate attention. This was something I’ve never read before & it completely tugged on my heartstrings. I found the behind the scenes of the reality TV aspects fascinating. I also am a total fan of the single dad & thought his daughter was such a great character.
This is a story that had me a full range of emotions from terrifying fear to giggles to swooning & I enjoyed every minute of it.
If you haven’t read a Lucy Score book or you’re looking for a holiday romance, I highly recommend checking out The Christmas Fix by Lucy Score!
I will post on my social media soon & add links once I do!
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book. I absolutely loved it, It's a light, christmasy read that will leave you feeling good.
The Christmas Fix is book two in the Fixer Series, and takes place in Merry, Connecticut. A late season hurricane hits Merry right before it's biggest holiday season, and city manager, Noah Yates, must inform his residents that there will be no Christmas Festival this year. This also means there will be no tourist dollars.
Cat King, reality star on a home renovation show, comes back to town after she hears this devastating news. She had previously been to Merry to remodel a home and shows back up with a camera crew and a budget big enough to put the town back together in time for the Christmas Festival. Noah wants no part of her plan, but she can't wait to prove him wrong.
Once again, Lucy Score has made me fall in love with her characters and storyline. This is the perfect Christmas read. I can't wait to dive into more books written by Lucy.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bloom Books for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really wanted to like this book. I have tried reading other books by this author and did not really like them. I was hoping that this one would be different. But it was just a super generic Christmas romance story. I feel like if I like this author I would have liked this book more. But this one was just not for me.
I typically rate Lucy Score books 4 or 5 stars and while I did enjoy this one, it wasn't as good as I've come to expect. The story telling was slightly abrupt in how it transitioned from scene to scene. The characters were good, though it would have been nice for Cat to have a few more flaws - she is practically worshipped for the most part of the book.
Merry, Connecticut recently flooded, and Cat would like to make sure they have a very Merry Christmas indeed. She has a remodeling television show, and the only thing standing in her way, is a he, Noah, the town Mayor. He takes his responsibility very seriously and after the hurricane left their town in pieces, he scrambling. As much as he wants to say yes to the smokin hot Cat, he doesn’t want his town to look like they're capitalizing on devastation on national television. Will his way end up being more than he originally thought?
This is such a heartwarming story! Lucy Score is such a reliable author for small-town feel-good romances, and this one is no different, with this one being set at Christmas. I always love how small towns come together in times of need, and that is the case here. Human kindness is always at the heart of the story. While all of these stories are very familiar, the finer details are all unique to each story. I enjoyed that this one focused on a single dad, that is always something nice to always seen portrayed in books, especially when they are done well. I do always grapple a little with the length of Ms. Score’s books, and I will say this is the shortest I’ve read, but it still did feel that it dragged a little in the middle. Cas was a wonderful character and I enjoyed getting to know her. I enjoyed that she was a female in a traditional male role, I love the representation and how she was still very feminine! It was great.
I loved this book! Cat is perfectly-imperfect and Noah is one of the best book men I have had the pleasure of reading about in a long time. While this is technically the second of a series, you could easily read this as a stand alone for the holidays.
Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I was provided with a free copy of this book from the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I unfortunately couldn’t get into this one, even though I have enjoyed other Lucy Score books. The writing felt juvenile, and I just wasn’t a fan. I might have had better feelings if I had read the first one first, but I didn’t realize this was a series. Thanks for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I just love Lucy’s books and this one was no different. A great holiday read to add to your collection! Loved the characters and the storyline flowed nicely. Would recommend.
The best kind of small town, enemy to lovers, Christmas story. I absolutely loved the town of Merry and all the characters that came along with it. There was just the right amount of steam, holiday cuteness, and a feel good story.
Love a small town read from Lucy Score! I loved the tropes in this one and how festive it was. Super cute and very enjoyable to read around the holidays.
Cat King is the hands on host of a reality home makeover show, and her next makeover is the town of Merry, CT recently severely damaged in a flood. Merry holds a famous Christmas festival every year and Cat has decided that there will be a festival this year as well.
Noah is the city manager of Merry and he’s suspicious of Cat and her show He doesn’t want anyone to be disappointed, the schedule is tight and he doesn’t see how everything can possibly be finished before Christmas. With all the animosity between them it’s ironic that their chemistry is off the charts.
I really enjoyed this book! It’s a well done enemies to lovers story. There’s just the right amount of spice, the characters are memorable and I loved all the Christmas cheer. 5 stars.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed as in this review are completely my own.
Thank you Bloom Books for the NetGalley widget.
The Christmas Fix is an enemies to lovers set in the small town of Merry, Connecticut. It sounds like the perfect set up for a holiday novel, doesn’t it? Don’t get your hopes up.
The Christmas Fix is more of a steamy romance with a few holiday scenes sprinkled in than a Christmas romance with holiday scenes. The steam and the banter between the reality HGTV-like star and the city manager overpowered the holiday cheer. There was just so much bickering. And it took reading almost half the book for a fun winter/holiday scene to even appear.
The book is ok but my Christmas loving heart is a bit disappointed.
Read if you like:
•enemies to lovers
•HGTV reality shows
•Steam over holiday cheer
•Lots of characters
Steam level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Closed door modifications (skip to avoid explicit scenes): 29, 30, 31, 35, 46
Loved this! It was so fun and romantic, with the right amount of spice. It was the perfect start to my Christmas reads for the season!
POV: Dual
Spice: 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️
I’m not sure how I missed that there was a Christmas fixer upper reality show book written by Lucy Score, but I’m so glad I read it now!
I had a major girl crush on Cat through most of the book; she’s confident and strong and thrives on proving people wrong about herself, especially Noah. At first, I was not a Noah fan, but he grew on me and then I turned and swore I would not forgive Cat if she broke this sweet man’s heart!
This book was so funny at times, with some emotional parts as this little town builds itself back up. I wish a little more time had been spent showing Cat and Noah discussing their pasts (we don’t really find out much about single dad Noah’s divorce) and also less time on Cat worrying about what she eats (although I know it’s realistic). Overall, it was a book I couldn’t put down and could totally see as an actual show!
A delightful Christmas story that takes place In Merry Connecticut where media sensation and renovation specialist Cat tries to help the town after a major flood hits the town just prior to the town’s Christmas celebration. The town is managed by Noah who is opposed to Cat bringing her crew to town - he just doesn’t want his people taken advantage of when they are down. Will Cat and Noah find a truce? Will Merry’s celebration be saved? This one has enough steam to make Rudolph’s nose glow! Thanks to NetGalley for the fun read!
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC!
I’m a Lucy score fan, so I had to check out the new release of this cover just in time for holiday reads. It’s very cute, but for my personal taste it took too long to reach the spice. I also wanted more character depth, but you still get Lucy’s signature writing style, steam, and character banter. Recommend if you want a bingeable romcom this winter
this is very likely my favorite holiday romance of 2023. I enjoyed Mr Fixer Upper so much and was ready for Cat's story. I knew she was going to be fierce, but wasn't ready for the enemies to lovers piece of this book. Enemies to lovers doesn't always land well for me. But this was all banter and actual frustration instead of pranks and immaturity. When we see them start to get along and watch the shift to grumpy sunshine, it is so sweet. Learning about Noah's past puts even more perspective and heart on their Christmas time town renovation love story.
