I thought this was a super fun holiday romcom. I really enjoyed the first half of the book. The banter and fighting were top notch.
I would absolutely suggest this to patrons. I look forward to more Lucy Score books.
The Christmas Fix by Lucy Score is book Two in the Fixer: King Siblings Series. This is the story of Noah and Cat. This was a fun enemies to lover story. If you haven't read Ms. Score's books before you are totally missing out. I highly recommend her writing.
Lucy score can do no wrong! Captivated from the start to the end! Plot and character development was beautifully executed!!!!
Catalina King is a reality Tv personality, the queen of renovations, and for her Christmas special this year she wants to help the little town of Merry get back on their feet after a hurricane took them out. The cute town usually hosts a beautiful Christmas market and brings in quite the crowd. Cat is not all that she seems she is on tv, she’s much more than just a TV personality.
Town manager Noah Yates is a stick in the mud. He doesn’t want his town to be used and played out for he cameras. They are not a charity case. So when Cat weasels her way, and her cameras, into town he is not pleased. The two butt heads and cannot agree on anything, but as Noah learns more about the true Catalina will his feelings change?
A real slow go for me. The first half of the book is long and winds on and on, and things finally pick up in the second half. Steamy, much more steamy than I was anticipating. Cute and chrustmassy.
I will note that I believe the author tried too hard in utilizing the fact that Cat was a TV personality to she had to stay fit and look good. It was talked about a lot, but not in the best way. As the reader I wasn’t thinking “screw these beauty standards and eat what you want” I was thinking “if Cat has to eat on a diet and worry about fitting into clothes so do I”. It didn’t work in the way the author wanted and the story could have done without the reminder of that.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bloom Books for the e-arc of the rerelease.
I liked this one slightly better than the first book, Mr. Fixer Upper. I really enjoyed Cat and Noah's relationship, and Noah's daughter was my favourite character. This was another quick and easy read.
The Christmas Fix stars home renovation network darling Catalina King. When a small town that Cat has worked in before is hit by a massive hurricane 2 months before Christmas, she uses all of her power to focus the Christmas Special she is filming into restoring the charming town, Merry, before their iconic Holiday Fesitval. However, her job would be a lot easier if she didn't have the city planner/scrooge Noah Yates thwarting her at every move. Noah seems to be the only one in Cat's life, and all of Merry, that is immune to her charms and is putting the Christmas Special at risk. As Cat and Noah attempt to find some sort of understanding, everyone can see that sparks are flying - except for Cat and Noah themselves. As the deadline looms closer they have to decide their true feelings for each other and also pray that Cat can finish her revitalization of the town before the big Christmas Festival.
This was my first Lucy Score book and I thought it was really cute. Although this book and some of it's characters are seen in Mr. Fixer Upper, this can definitely be read as a standalone. Overall, I liked Cat and Noah as characters, as well as many of the side characters, I just felt like there was a tiny something missing to make this story and it's characters really memorable for me. It reads like the perfect, quick, easy Hallmark-y book I was expecting, but I wanted to be a bit more invested in the characters and story than I actually was.
(Some spoiler in this paragraph)Even though I liked Cat and Noah, I felt like their relationship changed in the blink of an eye and after all that talk of hatred, they never really resolved the issue. I know if I were Cat I'd have held a grudge about some of the things Noah said about me instead of letting him kiss me - but oh well! I also thought it was a little cop-out-y that the reason Noah "caves" to let the cameras come in is because Cat promises a 12 year old that she'll fix her house... it just didn't seem like that would be enough to force his hand. Cat can also be a bit abrasive and although I am all for women embracing their sexuality, I didn't like that her character seemed emotionally stunted in relationships because of that reason.
Overall, if you're looking for a cute Christmas-y read and love HGTV - I think you'll like this book. I would definitely try another Lucy Score and give this one a 3.5 (even if GoodReads doesn't recognize a half-star yet).
I received an eCopy of this book via NetGalley. Thank you to Bloom Books for giving me a copy in exchange for an honest review!
This book kind of gave me When in Rome vibes. The grump meets ms. sunshine. Noah is extremely closed off and in walks in Cat who flips his world upside down. Enemies to lovers is always a hit or a miss, and unless the banter/chemistry is well written, it can be hard to pull off. But Lucy Score knows how to perfectly perfect this and it was such a good read!
If you love holiday romances, or Hallmark movies, and want them to be a bit... naughtier than nicer, this book is for you!
It was a bit more involved than a surface level Hallmark, as there is more character development, and storyline - so it felt like you were just getting *more*. I really, really enjoyed the dynamic of the two main characters, the bada** heroine who stars in HGTV style shows, renovating homes, and the semi-grumpy town mayor with a heart of gold... that's full of skepticism surrounding her intentions for HIS town. He's protective, loveable, and .... it's a CHRISTMASY TOWN.
This book brings all the holiday cheer and fun, and makes me wish I could visit this town IRL every year for their holiday festivities. I really hope they adapt this someday, it was so cute! 5/5 Stars.
*Thank you for the gifted ebook, thank you Bloom Books & Netgalley! All opinions are my own.
A heartwarming Christmas story with some steamy scenes, this book is best enjoyed with some spiked hot chocolate.
NetGalley Review — ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
“The Christmas Fix” by Lucy Score is the second in the Fixer: Kings Siblings duet. This book follows Cat King, twin sister to the MMC in “Mr. Fixer Upper” and Noah Yates, the city manager of the small town of Merry.
The enemies-to-lovers trope always gets me fired up. I enjoyed this book more than the first. Cat was spunky and likeable & Noah was a geeky hunk with a knack for getting under Cat’s skin.
This book is out now! 🎄
Big thanks to @read_bloom for the ARC!

I absolutely loved this book. If you haven't read, Mr. Fixer Upper yet, read that first or parts will be ruined. They are both stand alones, though.
This is the story of Cat King, who is a renovation expert with her own TV show. She and her twin brother, Gannon, fixed houses for deserving families for TV prior to Cat getting her own show. Cat kept in touch with the families and got a call from one such family from Merry, Connecticut. Merry was taking a direct hit from a category 2 hurricane. Cat went to help convince the network to do a show behind rebuilding the town after it was severely flooded and in time for Christmas.
The only thing standing in her way is the town manager, Mr. No, as he's referred to around town, Noah. Noah is a divorced dad of a twelve-year-old girl and trying to undo pains from his own childhood.
What ensues is a beautiful enemies to lovers masterpiece. When I started this, I thought it was going to be too similar to Mr. Fixer Upper, so if you feel the same, I assure you, it will suck you in and not let go. I could not put it down. I definitely highly recommend this book!
The Christmas Fix is exactly what I look for in a steamy holiday romcom. Lucy Score takes predictable holiday tropes and turns them into an entertaining story that’s perfect for reading in front of a cozy fireplace.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Cat is a home improvement reality tv star, and when she sees flooding destroying beloved Merry, Connecticut, she immediately goes to help out. Town manger Noah is at his wits end trying to take care of the residents of Merry and his daughter while figuring out how to keep the town’s annual Christmas festival going. When Cat sweeps in and offers to rebuild the town and feature it on her show, Noah thinks his town and friends are going to be exploited. But even as Cat and Noah bicker at every turn, they start to understand where each other is coming from. And, it becomes tougher and tougher to ignore their mutual attraction.
This antagonists to lovers story is the perfect length, and has plenty of plot development without belaboring details. Cat and Noah come from opposing perspectives, but the story shows their natural progression to attraction and love. My favorite aspect is that Cat is ambitious and driven, yet likable; sometimes these traits can lead to a character that readers have a tough time rooting for. But it’s clear that Cat’s priorities of wanting to be successful and help people are not opposing views.
Lucy Score writes amazing steamy romcoms. The Christmas Fix shows it’s possible to cram all that goodness into less than 800 pages. This antagonists to lovers romance has just the right amount of angst and stakes, making for a wonderful holiday treat.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
3 Stars Like with Mr. Fixer Upper, it’s been fun to rediscover Lucy Score’s older titles that are now being republished under a new publisher. The Christmas Fix gives you exactly what’s in the title—a fix for your Christmas rom com needs. It’s a delightful enemies to lovers holiday romance. Like with most of her other novels, Lucy Score excels at writing a strong, take no BS female main character.
This was a light, fluffy read that ticks all the boxes and can definitely be read as a standalone. It's not the most festive of Christmas books, but I enjoyed reading it as we head into the holiday season.
Things I liked:
-The pacing and the events surrounding the small town of Merry.
-Seeing more of Cat behind the scenes. We know she's more than a pretty face from the first book, but we really see her savvy brain and incredible work ethic here.
-Noah was perfect for Cat and I loved watching their relationship progress. I loved their opposites attract/ enemies to lovers pairing.
-A look into Gannon and Paige's life after the events of the first book in the series. This book had a bigger family component that I appreciated.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
As always Lucy Score wrote another great book!! This first book in this series was just as good. There are very few authors that can include humor, love, witty banter, and so much emotion in the same book naturally, but this book truly has it all. I can’t recommend it enough. A must read for the holiday season!!
Thank you NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.
The second entry in a duo of books about a brother/sister home renovation team. Cat and Noah are enjoyable characters, but the book overall feels a little unrealistic - from the opening rescue scene to the closing Christmas Eve festival. But it would be a good holiday read, where fanciful often rules the day. Not a bad way to spend some time curled in front of a fire.
3 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a complimentary ARC of this book. The opinions herein are my own.
THE MOST PERFECT HALLMARK HOLIDAY ROMANCE.
I received this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion and review. I grew to love the Kings during the first book of the series, The fixer upper. Nothing prepared me for how much I would grow to love Cat. I loved the banter between her and Noah and I loved her determination to save Merry. I couldn’t have loved this book more.
I was captivated by the clash-turned-romance between city manager Noah Yates and reality TV star Catalina King. With Merry, Connecticut, facing a bleak holiday season after a hurricane cancels the Christmas Festival, Cat arrives with a plan to revive the town. Noah, wary of her past troublemaking, resists, setting the stage for an enemies-to-lovers journey filled with witty banter and emotional layers. Score skillfully crafts a heartfelt and humorous Christmas romance, portraying Cat as an empowered heroine and Noah as a devoted father. The story's unique fixer-upper premise, snappy dialogue, and spicy chemistry between the characters make it a delightful and must-read holiday favorite.
I have loved Cat since she appeared in Mr Fixer Upper with her sassy attitude and fun personality. Her and Noah had such a rocky start but it bloomed so beautifully as the book went on. I love a good single parent romance story. Add the enemies to lovers aspect of that and it heats right up. This is so much more than just a holiday book it's about community coming together after tragedy to help those in need. So moving, so beautiful, and the spice is delicious as always.
Lucy Score does it again with just a knockout of a story.
A cute follow up to Mr. Fixer Upper with the focus on Gannon's twin sister Cat. While the construction aspects of this book were less than in the first, I think it may have been even more enjoyable. I loved Sara's character and the dynamic of the whole team.
