THE CHRISTMAS FIX was another hit by Lucy Score, who continues to write compelling stories with relatable characters you can’t help but root for. Really enjoyed this holiday tale!
Thanks to NetGalley and Bloom Books for the opportunity to read and review THE CHRISTMAS FIX.
An enemies to lover trope, a classic Lucy Score book with a christmas twist. Cute book, would recommend to others.
Loved these characters and especially Cat! Loved the sense of community! It felt long. Like, overwritten. It would be so fun to see a second book to see how Cat and Noah adjust to couplehood while she juggles so many awesome ideas and a nontraditional job with his more traditional job.
This was so cute!!! I loved every second of this book and will recommend this as a best holiday read! My first Lucy Score book and definitely won’t be my last!!!
I was looking for a cute and sexy holiday romcom and that is exactly what I got from The Christmas Fix by Lucy Score. This is my first time reading anything by this author and I wasn't overly impressed, but I did have a good time reading it. I mean not only did two people fall in love, but they also saved Christmas!!! It has all the makings of a Hallmark movie. This is technically the second book in a series, but can be read as a standalone. I do think I might have liked Cat a little better having known her from the first book, at first glance she was a little over the top, but nevertheless she's a hardworking badass, and as a woman I respected her.
After a late season hurricane turns the small town of Merry, Connecticut into a disaster, city manager Noah is left scrambling to pick up the pieces of the town he loves. Until home renovation expert and smoking hot reality TV star Catalina King arrives with a camera crew and a budget big enough to put the town back together again. But Noah doesn’t want a celebrity diva capitalizing on their tragedy or filling his daughter’s head with visions of glitz and glam. Blonde bombshell Cat is used to being underestimated, but Noah has an uncanny knack for getting under her skin. They can’t be in a room together without rubbing each other the wrong way…except that time in the dark alley where the rubbing was just right. Can these enemies work together to pull off a Christmas miracle or will their fighting leave them both on the naughty list?
I'm still questioning whether or not I truly liked Noah. Part of me thinks Cat deserved better. Deep down Noah only wanted what was best, but he came off so judgy and pompous. And sure this contributed to a good enemies-to-lovers storyline, with good back and forth witty banter, and tension. I just had a hard time overlooking that I thought he was an asshole, even after he changed his perspective. Everything about this book, from the plot to the romance (and spice) was just okay. For me nothing really stood out, but I think this is worth the read if you want a quick holiday romcom.
Read if you like:

This was the perfect holiday romance! I already love Lucy Score’s books and I knew this would be a fun, spicy and romantic book for the holiday season.
Noah and Cat initially butt heads and view each other as enemies. They have conflicting views on the other person and eventually realize they don’t actually know the other’s true self. When they finally put down their pitchforks, they realize they might have the same goals for this small town.
Cat has a fiesty, strong willed personality that many men might see as “too much,” but not Noah. He is inspired by her goals and dreams, even if they may lead her away from him. Cat has lived the same “go go go” lifestyle for years and has always kept herself busy. Now that she has someone worth slowing down for, she has to rethink everything shes taught herself.
Noah is a dedicated single father and town mayor. He is passionate about this town and what he wants for the people who live there. I loved how he breaks down Cat’s walls and at the end of the day, he just wants what makes her happy.
A fast-paced contemporary romance featuring enemies-to-lovers/frenemies-with-benefits, as a home makeover TV celebrity sparks with the single-dad mayor of a Christmas-themed small town. Pairs perfectly with a mug of hot cocoa for the holiday season.
Oh man, I really enjoyed this one and it was a fantastic way to end off the year.
The banter was top notch!
I loved the writing, the small town vibes, the strong female main character, portrayal of healthy post Divorce relationships.
I really enjoyed this book. It was different than anything else I've read recently. I couldn't put it down! I will keep an eye out for this author's future work!
Lucy Score somehow remains on top of my favorite authors with this Christmas romance. If you're looking for something to get you into the spirit this is the book for the job. You'll giggle, swoon, gasp, and everything in between. The Christmas Fix is sure to fix your holiday blues.
This copy was kindly given to me by Netgalley and Publisher for review. All opinions are my own.
Lucy Score is steadily growing to an auto read author for me. I admit that I read this duology out of order (oops, lol.) and you can truthfully read out of order and not be confused. I am a little addicted to HGTV reno show and this series kicked that love back into gear, lol. Of course at times I wished the main characters would just talk to each other but that is a trope that I get works; overall, steamy, fun novel that I would totally recommend
A cute and spicy Christmas romance! Add this to your shelf for the holidays! Lucy Score always delivers on the heat and romance!
Another great Lucy Score hit! I love the premise of this book - a town has been hit by a hurricane and the heroine, who has a fix it up show, wants to help clean and fix it up, but the hero (mayor of the town) doesn't want her to exploit the process for her tv show. A battle of the wills begins - and the fun starts! AND there is a time crunch. Everything needs to happen before Christmas Eve (the hurricane happened right before Halloween) for the town's famous celebration. To throw in another bump - the hero has a tween daughter, a sassy tween daughter. So that is one more thing for him to worry about, that and his daughter's hero worship of the heroine. There are great secondary characters that really propel the story forward. I laughed and I cried and immediately started reading it again. Highly recommend!
Lucy Score tends to be a hit or miss for me, and honestly, I'm starting to wish it was more consistent. This one was neither a hit nor miss for me. It was a steamy enemy to lovers romance that I'm not mad about reading, but definitely won't pick up again.
Let's start with our queen Catalina King. She is strong, independent, and honestly an inspiration especially to Noah's daughter. She works extremely hard (#hustleculture is strong here), but its all for the right reasons. She wants to save Merry so they can have an amazing holiday. She wants to build her own school so women can learn trade skills like construction. I loved that she was so passionate about that. She was beautiful, but not a reality barbie. She was real and authentic.
Noah on the other hand, I really disliked in the beginning. He made awful assumptions about her and was quite annoying. Cat really carried the first 30-40% of the book on her shoulders because I couldn't get past Noah. Then when you realized how stressed he was about the town and the holiday due to his own background, you find him to be a real softie (everywhere except the bedroom or in the alleyways apparently).
I think this book had a lot going for it, but honestly I wish there was more to the actual storyline then just their infatuation growing. I want to hear about the construction and how they brought a gold tree in without anyone realizing it for the big reveal. I want to hear the details on her building the school and the first classes instead of an epilogue that was three years in the future and just skimmed over. Did they renovate the high school? Did they leave it? I just expected a bit more construction and design from a book about a renovation show rebuilding a town. These were important ventures for our characters and damnit I need answers.
Honestly, I think I do want to read the first book though, only because Paige seemed like such a sweetheart and Gannon....well he's Gannon.
If I need a romance that will make me laugh and I will love every character in it, I know Lucy will be the girl I need. Her main characters are always great and her secondary characters are what I always need in a story. She will make you laugh and all love the characters in her stories.
A spicy little holiday book! I love Lucy Score and her writing.
Is this a Knockemout story? No. But is it enjoyable, fun, and witty? Of course it is!
Highly recommend for the next holiday season or a Christmas in July read!
This was a cute and quick read from Lucy Score that is great to get you into the holiday spirit. Cat was a super fun character to read about but Noah was a little annoying to the point where the “grumpy” character trope ended up him being just a jerk. However, it is enemies-to-lovers so it does have a happy ending and it gives all the feels for Christmas time without being too overbearing on holiday themes.
A fun, steamy Christmas romance. I didn't read the previous novel to this one but I honestly didn't feel like that took away from the amount that I enjoyed this one! Definitely would recommend for a quick holiday read.
thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
I love Christmas romances, especially when they're out of season and this one was so fun! The shenanigans were so fun and I loved the two lead's interactions. It was tension filled and their chemistry was working for me.
One thing about me is that I'll eat up a single dad romance every time and it was such a good time.
There were a couple of things that didn't totally work for me but overall such a good holiday romcom!
Thank you Sourcebooks/Bloom Books and NetGalley for the ARC.
