A Christmas book that also seems like that it is also a home improvement rom com. Which was the perfect combo. I love Lucy’s writing.

This one surprised me! I really like Lucy Score's newer work, but not as much her older stuff. The Christmas Fix was the exact holiday read I needed! So cute, great spice. Fun read!

My book club selected the Christmas Fix for December. I love Lucy Score and her books. The Christmas Fix did not disappoint with his delightful grumpy/sunshine, enemies-to-lovers, single-dad, holiday small-town romance. Cat and Noah are well-developed characters. I loved their steamy connection. Add this book to your romance reading list. It will give you all the warm and fuzzy holiday feelings we want this time of year.

📣 dislike to lovers contemporary featuring a buttoned up MMC & a renovation queen
📖 what is/was your first read of 2024? Mine was KJ Charles’s A Case of Possession & this is #2!
(Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the complimentary ARC. All opinions provided are my own.)
I’ll be honest & admit off the bat that I was leery of beginning this one bc I was nervous I would encounter a behemoth. But to my surprise, once I read a couple of chapters The Christmas Fix activated my “dislike to lovers” pleasure receptors & I was off.
Cat King and Noah Yates dislike each other immediately. She’s a reno expert & reality tv star & he is a starchy city manager who doesn’t want her to orchestrate and film any reno to his storm-ravaged town.
But somewhere along the way he realizes that there is much much more to her & also that he has embraced a locked-down life & the fun begins.
The Christmas Fix starts off a bit bumpy for me because both leads come across as abrasive. Cat is not willing to take no for an answer & Noah is very judgmental about her profession & interests & lifestyle & in a way that doesn’t feel potentially sexy.
But the steam keeps steamin’ & there are some majorly cute moments as Cat introduces him to grocery store & snow adventures. Noah’s unexpected vulnerability is heartwarming, even more so how Cat responds to it. I wanted a bit more from his evolution but overall, it’s nicely done.
Some of Lucy Score’s books haven’t worked for me in the past but The Christmas Fix is an adorable & hot & sweet holiday read that actually ties in nicely to the new year despite the title.
4.25 ⭐️. Out now!

I gave this one 50 pages and then couldn't continue. I just couldn't connect with the characters and found the whole thing to be too cheesy for me. This is the second Lucy Score book I've tried and I'm starting to think this might not be the right fit for me.

Thank you to NetGallery and the publisher for providing an advance copy of The Christmas Fix. This was my first Lucy Score book and I can't say I will be seeking out more. The saving grace of it was that it read like a Hallmark Christmas movie, which are at least easy enough to devour.
While I enjoy romance novels, they need to have substance. The first half of this book was rather boring and the "hate trope" (which admittedly, is my least favourite trope) felt rather unbelievable and forced. The sex scenes were too graphic for me and gave Tessa Bailey a run for her money!
Simply because of the Christmas setting, the book receives an extra point. The ending was somewhat touching and I liked both main characters (and Noah's daughter, Sara, too). The Christmas Fix meets the requirements of a feel-good Christmas story.

A cute Christmas story with some spice based on a cute town. I loved Noah and the story line of a makeover the town. I did not read the first book and you certainly don't need to read it to read this book. This is my first Lucy score book and can't wait to read another.
Thanks Netgalley for the ARC!

Who wouldn't love a small town Christmas story, especially by Lucy Score?!
I enjoyed this read and was a fun story to read after a much heavier one before it. I laughed aloud, startling my cat, several times throughout the story and look forward to a reread of this in the future.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and publisher for this Arc in exchange for a review!

This was a first read for me from this author. It was a cute Christmas story and I loved the characters. Would definitely recommend and read more from this author.

This was my favorite Christmas romance I read in 2023! Lucy Score is simply the queen of small town romances with found-family vibes (and her steamy scenes are truly some of the best out there)! An auto-buy author for me every time.

This was such a good holiday read, I really enjoyed it and was hooked straight from the start. I loved the story, the setting and the romance between the characters. It was overall an amazing read.

I have loved everything by this author so far and this one was no exception! The Christmas Fix is an enemies to lovers, single dad, holiday romance that follows Cat King and Noah Yates. After the town Merry floods Cat goes to help rescue victims of the flood waters and to convince her reality show network that helping the town rebuild by Christmas. But city manager, Noah, doesn’t want the show to come in and exploit his town just to make a buck.
I loved the banter and angst between Noah and Cat. It had me laughing out loud on multiple occasions. These two were like fire and ice. Cat is sassy and full of energy and spunk. She wants to prove to Mr. No that her crew can make miracles happen and get the town ready for their Christmas Eve festivities. Noah is more reserved and cautious. He has to think everything through multiple times and put the town’s best interests first. I loved everything about these two and the slow burn was perfect for them. The sparks were flying from the beginning…after all, there is a thin line between love and hate.

A fun, sweet, Christmas story.
I enjoyed reading this one.
Lucy Score is like a cozy blanket. It never lets me down!

Thank you to the publisher and net galley for the ARC of this book. all opinions are my own.
I absolutely loved this! It was fantastic and I can not wait to see what's next! The character development, plot, and story were so well developed. I loved it. Lucy Score is quickly becoming a favorite of mine and I'm rapidly going through all the books she's written and enjoying every one. This was no exception and the perfect holiday book!

Lucy Score’s The Christmas Fix is the second book in the Fixer series. It follows Cat King, who stars with her brother Gannon in the popular reality TV series, Kings of Construction. Cat was more of a lovable secondary character in Gannon’s book, but here she takes center stage and is an absolute delight!
I think the best way to describe The Christmas Fix is that it’s like a Hallmark Christmas movie but with a dash of spice thrown in the mix. The story is set in the small town of Merry, Connecticut. This charming little town is all about Christmas, but major flood damage from a late season hurricane threatens Merry’s big holiday celebration. That is, until Cat King comes to town, determined to use her show and its big budget, to save Christmas in Merry. Cat is feisty and definitely not one to back down, and there’s just one obstacle that she has to overcome to achieve this Christmas miracle – the grumpy town manager, Noah Yates, who thinks Cat is just there to exploit his town’s misfortune for her show.
Although Noah was somewhat unlikeable in the beginning, it’s easy to understand where this sexy single dad is coming from and in classic enemies-to-lovers fashion, it’s a lot of fun watching Cat eventually win him over.
While I very much enjoyed the slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers journey of Noah and Cat, what I loved most about this story is that it features such a strong sense of community as everyone comes together to save Christmas for Merry. It was just so heartwarming.
If you’ve ever wondered what a spicy Hallmark Christmas movie might look like, be sure to check out The Christmas Fix.

Cat is a "fixer upper". She does home renovations - sometimes with her brother Gannon (from book 1 - The Fixer Upper). Due to a storm, many of the homes and buildings in Merry are unlivable, and since one of those homes is one that she'd worked on before, and since Merry gets most of it's funds from its Christmas Festival, Cat decides to fix the whole town. She runs into interference from Noah, the single dad Mayor. He's got the wrong idea about Cat from the last time she was in town - when she had to defend herself from a handsy townie - but he doesn't know the whole story and therefore, has already decided he doesn't like her, and he doesn't want her help. But there won't be a Christmas Festival without the renovations and repairs needed.
The chemistry is REAL, and Cat is everything you want in a book heroine. You won't regret picking this one up.

I found the first half of the book fast-paced. I enjoyed the rivalry between Noah and Cat and I loved the tension building up. After "the moment" things slowed down. It felt like they just repeated the same thing and I just needed for it to finish. I think the book was a bit too long.

I didn’t know if it would be possible to love this more than Mr. fixer upper, especially being a Christmas book, but boy did it! Noah and Cat are hot hot hot. There is no enemies to lovers like this one. I loved every single second of this book. It took a little bit to get into the time hopping (similar to Mr. Fixer upper) but I managed. The town of Merry definitely had me falling in love with its delightful residents and I didn’t stand a chance. Excellent.

A great Christmas read. Loved that you get to see Gannon and Paige from the previous book.
And just like the previous book it has a grumpy sunshine trope.
Cat and Noah are dynamic and there are so many witty retorts. Really enjoyed the holiday spirit and the town of Merry.

I have fun with Lucy Score's writing and world-building, but every book I've read by her has felt about 100 pages too long. This was a fun, steamy Christmas romance, but at a certain point the slice-of-life storytelling gets a little tedious and I'd rather move the plot along faster. I picked this up not realizing it was part of a series, and some of the characters mentioned had backstories I didn't quite understand, but it still was easy to read as a standalone.
