I first read this book a few years ago when it was indie published and I loved having an excuse to revisit it. I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed it.

Paige is a field producer on a home renovation show—think Extreme Makeover: Home Edition—and is constantly butting heads with one of the stars, Gannon. Once the tension finally erupts the two find themselves facing more than just their own stubbornness as they try to build something that lasts.

I love Gannon. This book has one of my favorite caretaking scenes ever and it shows his heart so vividly. Another thing I love about him is that, as Paige explains, he doesn’t make the same mistake twice. He owns it and grows to do better in the future. Paige on the other hand, as much as I adore and admire her, I also wanted to shake her. I don’t feel like it’s a case of making concessions for a male character and holding a female character to a different standard either—that would literally be the opposite of what Paige stands for. It’s more that Paige herself acknowledges things internally and then firmly lives in denial on the outside. Regardless, her chemistry with Gannon is undeniable and he’s determined to be patient with her while he proves himself. They’re a great partnership and I love them together.

Gannon is the grumpy reality tv star and Paige is the no-nonsense producer who has to work together. They fall for each other along the way...

Terrific banter.... Sexy and funny scenes... Great characters. Fun and zany situations. Really enjoy this book.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

I think this was my first Lucy Score book. Apparently it got a cover update to something more cutesy than the original and it was remarketed or something on NetGalley and I totally fell for it. Anyway, this was okay I guess. Paige got annoying with her whole "I don't want a relationship" thing and Gannon felt too grabby-grabby (boxing her in so she can't escape him, hauling her into or out of places, etc.) and I didn't really find that super attractive.

Kindly received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Mr. Fixer Upper by Lucy Score

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely love this book! I could not put it down and finished in a few hours. Lucy Score delivers a lighthearted, easy to read romcom with a grumpy hero that is to die for, and a cool as a cucumber heroine that doesn’t believe she has room for romance and a career.

Gannon King is a swoon worthy home reno reality TV star who has the hots for his field producer Paige St. James. He believes she is one of those networks types who is only out for ratings, so he keeps her at arms length, even though he thrives on trying to get a rise out of her. Paige is a great at keeping her emotions in check. She doesn’t lose her cool on set. She wants to be a Director and make her own documentary of discrimination of females in the film industry. She has no time for romance. That is until Gannon getting under her skin.

I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a romance that is fun and brings the heat!

Honestly as a Lucy Score fan. I didn't think I would like this one I did but like it's not really my kind of book. Reality TV and such. But it was really good.

Mr. Fixer Upper by Lucy Score is an absolute gem! The clash of personalities between grumpy Gannon King and no-nonsense field producer Paige St. James creates a captivating tension that's impossible to resist. Their on-the-road adventures, fixing houses and changing lives, are both heartwarming and scorching hot. Lucy Score skillfully weaves a tale of passion and vulnerability that leaves you utterly captivated. Gannon's protective demeanor and Paige's unwavering professionalism create a dynamic that is as enchanting as it is steamy.

* I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this book. All thoughts are my own.

Cute enough. I don’t particularly like it when a couple is barely dating before they get engaged because it doesn’t give you hope that the relationship would last. Overall I liked the characters and the storyline, but I felt the relationship could have used a little more work. Surprisingly, this was also fairly short for a Lucy Score book

I think I would recommend if you’re a fan of Lucy Score, but it’s definitely not my favorite of hers.

Lucy Score is always a hit with me, and Mr. Fixer Upper didn't disappoint! I read this series out of order, so I had already "met" Paige and Gannon before I started this one, but it didn't make it any less entertaining. A grumpy home reno star and his fiery field producer butt heads at every turn, but their playful digs hide a growing attraction that ultimately, neither one of them can fight.

The bare bones of the story are simple, but Lucy Score brings her signature banter and spice to the table, making Mr. Fixer Upper an absolute delight. Plus, I always root for a main character who shares my name. Paiges have to stick together.

Thank you Bloom books for sending me an advance review copy.

I flew through this book. The banter is what what catches and keeps me in any romantic comedy. It was spot on in this story. Great read.

Sooo... I think I might not be in the majority this time around. Now, don't get me wrong, this was certainly an enjoyable read, but, alas, I couldn't exactly connect with the characters.

When we first met Paige, she was portrayed as practical, hardworking and professional. Gannon was the confident, capable, yet somewhat unapproachable "forbidden fruit".

Early on in the story, I wasn't a huge fan of Gannon. He seemed somewhat abrasive and not very likable. This only started to change after Paige "ended" things.

Paige was mostly believable at the beginning of the story, and it was only natural for her to let Gannon in after he proved to her how much he cared about her after the accident.

Now, what really turned me off the story was the ridiculous misunderstanding. I'll allow that had Gannon told Paige the truth earlier on, she might have had a better idea of what was happening. But, based on how fickle Paige is painted to be, you can't really trust that knowing all of that information would've changed her reaction in the least.

And this is where I began to read the story just for the sake of finishing it. I began to dislike Paige. She was so hot and cold with Gannon and it got pretty frustrating to read about her decisions. He hadn't really wronged her. He'd tried to explain what happened to her several times, but she was too hard-headed and stubborn to listen. Don't get me wrong, Gannon's "grand gesture" was incredibly sweet. But, I stand by the fact that he shouldn't have had to go through all of that to "win" her back. If anything, she should've been doing the groveling.

Regardless, this is an entertaining read, mostly if you enjoy a good home renovation story.

THOUGHTS:

I want to thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for giving me the opportunity to read an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

Oooweeee I loved this book. Love a fix-it-man and make him steamy with a tool belt and I’m swooning. I loved this book. I love Lucy Scores’ writing so much so I knew going into this that it was going to be a good one. Gannon has his own home revamp show and I loved watching him and a set crew member Paige figure out their relationship and navigate their feelings for one another through the book (Paige makes sure his show runs as it should). These two are polar opposites and it was fun watching them together. Without going to much into detail with this book I will just say that I loved every single moment of this book. I felt as though I was right there in it with them. Gannon King will forever be on my list of book boyfriends.

“Gannon has a soft spot for grandmothers,” Paige said quietly. “I’ve got a soft spot for a lot of people,” he countered, eyes boring into her.

There are other reasons I can’t be with you, Gannon. Reasons that aren’t your fault.” “Make me a list, and I will fix or remove every single obstacle.”

-close proximity, reality tv setting, enemies to lovers
-the home Reno show’s ratings are not the only thing that’s rising when it comes to grumpy TV star Gannon and field producer Paige 🎥🎞️🎬🔨
-I enjoyed the flow of this story and the chemistry between the two was so instant
-I did wish that Paige trusted Gannon a little more, there was some misunderstanding and it got a bit frustrating
-Gannon King has my heart!! He said make me a list and I’ll remove every obstacle 💳💥💳💥 calls her Princess?? And then buys a house of her dreams?! 😮‍💨 if I was Paige I would have folded like a lawn chair
-thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for this ARC!

Workplace forced proximity has never been done so good. The tension between the Gannon and Paige leads to an explicit shower scene.

Lucy Score does it again. She has a way with romcoms that involve manual labor okay?
The spice and chemistry are unmatched.

Lucy Score is so far up my auto buy list it’s insane, but Mr. Fixer Upper in particular? *Chefs Kiss*

I absolutely love this one, the characters are so likeable and the tension in the chemistry is perfection. (THAT SHOWER SCENE?! 🌶️🤌) Yes, the reasoning behind the conflict is a little overblown and dramatic, but it’s silly in a way only romcoms can be. The redemption/gesture moment is worth the eye rolls it takes to get there. This is definitely a favorite for me!

This book seemed like a great rom com with an interesting premise, but the longer I read, the more I just got kind of confused about the direction the author was taking it.

Paige is a very driven character who obviously has a good head on her shoulders, but made such stupid mistakes that it was hard to take her seriously when she was asking "why" Gannon was very intense, almost too intense that it came across as kind of obsessively creepy. And the reason they broke up was so stupid that I had a hard time wrapping my brain about it.

Not the best story I've read, but not the worst. I just wish that it has been a little more cohesive

Wow! This was exactly the book I needed! Sweet, funny, and just the right amount of steamy as Paige and Gannon bicker and fall together and apart and don't want to give too many spoilers but the end made my heart happy.

Paige is a field producer on the fixer upper tv show but dreams of producing a documentary and she wants to climb the ladder on her own merit and not because she is tied to the annoying, hot star of the show Gannon. Gannon has no time for television nonsense and has reasons for being on the show not related to stardom. But the more time they spend together the more the sparks fly and the more they begin to see beneath the public personas. But will the manipulations of the network destroy what they have built?

A story of two strong, private individuals tryin to create a life they love but will they be able to trust each other enough to do it together.

Oh, Mrs. Score...you have once again given us a hero and heroine relationship full of intensity and passion. You've also added a bit of home improvement/home makeover/DIY to your story, which is an added bonus, in my opinion. Even though I can't stand anything to do with reality TV, reading about it wasn't so bad. Also, I normally don't get attached to secondary characters, but in this instance they made the story even more enjoyable. I believe this is one of Lucy's Score's older books, and I could tell because the writing wasn't as top-notch as her Knockemout series, but it was still a fun read. I would recommend it.

I absolutely LOVED this steamy, enemies to lovers workplace romance between Gannon, a reality reno show star and Paige, the field producer who dreams of one day making her own show. The chemistry between these two was on FIRE and finding out what a softie Gannon was melted my heart! Paige really makes him work for their relationship though since she doesn't want to be seen as sleeping with the star or having it ruin her reputation.

If you love shows like Extreme Home Makeover, the premise will be right up your alley. All the side characters were excellent too and I just loved every second of this book, especially the epic final scenes! Many thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for a digital copy of the re-release edition in exchange for my honest review! Perfect for fans of books like Built to last or The honey-don't list. If you enjoy this book do yourself a favor and grab The Christmas fix next, featuring Gannon's twin sister and co-host, Catalina.
