This had so many twists! It really kept me on the edge of my seat trying to guess what would happen next.

"The Split" is a thought-provoking thriller that explores how one small choice can change your entire life. The concept of this book is really intriguing and unqiue. I've enjoyed several alternative reality books recently, and for the most part I enjoyed this story. Listening to the audiobook, I did find the back and forth a bit confusing. Trying to keep track of the two realities was a challenge. I feel like I want to come back to this one again in the future and read a physical copy. Not my favorite type of thriller, but overall a captivating mystery.
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Unfortunately this was not my favorite. I don’t feel the two timelines added anything to the story. It felt disjointed and difficult to follow. It has a very interesting premise but I think it fell flat. I didn’t feel connected to any of the characters and the story was too chaotic.

I enjoy nothing more than a "Sliding Doors" moment and The Split was a good example of a thriller version of this. The story kept me engaged but definitely had to make me pay attention. A true story about sisters and the choices we make

4.5 Stars
The Split is such a brilliantly crafted thriller that kept me absolutely hooked with its unique dual-timeline structure. I absolutely loved how each chapter unfolds in two parallel realities, each spiraling into intense, suspenseful outcomes that leave you constantly questioning which version of Jane’s story is the “true” one. Frick gives us an intimate view of both choices Jane makes—either leaving Esme to fend for herself or picking her up from the bar during a storm—and the consequences that ripple from each decision, building a lot of tension and suspense on every page.
This layered storytelling doesn’t just create two plot lines but offers a layered exploration of the sisters’ complex bond, unresolved traumas, and just how fragile their relationship is. Frick definitely didn’t take the easy way out when she wrote this. She delivered unexpected twists and revelations that deepened the mystery and kept me guessing. If you’re a fan of thrillers with psychological depth and a fresh take on narrative structure, The Split is a must-read that shows us just how powerful one small (or so we think) choice can be.

This is a time line split kind of book. I was very intrigued by the format.
This book follows Jane and what happens if she goes to save her sister vs. what happens if she doesn't.
I did not relate to the characters in this book, and honestly they were unlikable. The twist at the end made me so mad.
I just don't think this novel was made for me. The writing is great, but the story is very plot driven and I need more character building.

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for honest feedback. I also read a final copy in physical form. I must admit, I found this story hard to follow. While I initially liked the unique splitting method, I found it a bit confusing, and I'd imagine that readers going in blind would find it a bit jarring without a better set up or understanding of what's going on. The writing itself was fine, I liked the idea but execution was a bit meh to me. I would read another book from this author.

Thank you to @Atria and NetGalley for the ARC, thank you to @SimonBooksBuddy for the gifted copy!
With an interesting premise (sliding doors) and the promise of a mystery/thriller, I was highly intrigued by Split. The concept was ambitious and the writing was strong. I would recommend reading this physically as I found myself confused at times when listening to the audio.
Overall, I found one of the split stories to be stronger than the other, but both informed one another and kept the momentum going throughout the story. I’d definitely read from this author again!

An interesting premise and I enjoyed the splitting of the POV but I thought the ending of one was a little too out there. Overall enjoyable read

This book took me on a JOURNEY. Maybe it was too much though? I wasn't a fan of the sisters, but the writing kept me going. It wasn't my favorite, but it was definitely easy to finish.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC

This was a really interesting concept and unlike anything I’ve read before. While it was a little confusing at times to keep track of the events in the two timeless, the concept was executed very well overall.
The characters seemed a little one dimensional and most were just unlikeable, awful people. I wish we had seen more from the second sister and could find some redeeming qualities.
I enjoyed the book overall, it was fast-paced and creative. I like how it all came together at the end, and how it could be interpreted to have an open ended conclusion. This is my first book by this author and I’m definitely intrigued.
I want to thank the publisher, the author and NetGalley for providing the eARC.

The Split by Kit Frick is about two sisters - Jane and Esme. Jane is the dependable sister and Esme is the fun, spontaneous one. The story follows Jane's thoughts and actions through two different scenarios. One night Esme calls and asks to be picked up - the problem is that it's raining and due to an incident that happened when they were younger Jane has trouble driving in the rain.
The way the story is set up is what would have happened to Esme if Jane picked her up and the other perspective is what happens if Jane didn't pick her up. I really liked the setup of this novel, but at times it was a little repetitive because we went through the same events in two separate chapters.
This book kept me reading to find out what happens when Esme goes missing. I thought I had figured out what happened, but each time I did I was proven wrong. It's what made the book that much more interesting.
I thought this book was a great read - the first one I have read by Kit Frick, but I would definitely read more.
I thank NetGalley, the author and the publishers for the opportunity to read this ARC.

The Split was like nothing I have read before - and it was amazing! Lots of secrets, twists, & turns.

The Split was a bit of a slow start for me as it took me a minute to figure out there are actually two separate storylines based on one single decision made by our narrator and protagonist, Jane. To drive in a storm to get her sister or not result in two very different outcomes explored throughout the story. I will say once I got used to the writing style, I loved it! I thought all plot lines were well developed and surprising. I didn't love either Jane or Esme, and wish I had connected with the characters a little more. Overall, this was an entertaining read that I would recommend to someone looking for something unique!

A stormy, dark night - Jane receives a phone call from her sister Esme. Esme knows Jane doesn't drive in storms, especially at night, but she still asks Jane to come get her from a bar in downtown. It's a long drive on a stormy night and Esme and Jane don't have the best relationship.
And THIS is where our story splits - one storyline is Jane going to pick her sister up. The other, Jane says no and doesn't go get her.
These two different timelines have similar players - an ex boyfriend, a childhood friend, Esme's husband and the girls' parents. They both have slightly different type, in the book, and different intro chapter designs (one has falling rain, the other a line through the words). Each of these slightly different pieces try to keep the storylines straight for the reader and I appreciated the little extra hints.
I found the mystery compelling and I love comparing the two timelines. I raced after every red herring and misleading clue and I loved trying to figure out what was going on - in both storylines. It was such a fun, interesting read.
A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Edge of your seat thriller that kept me guessing. I have recommended this book to several friends!

This book is a real page-turner, with a plot that will keep you guessing from start to finish. It's got all the elements of a classic mystery, with a twisty storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Synopsis-
Jane Connor is resigned to being the “plain Jane” of her family—pragmatic and dependable—so unlike her beautiful and impetuous younger sister Esme. When Esme calls Jane during a flash summer storm, announcing she’s left her high-society husband, Jane is shocked to learn her sister wishes to stay with her. Could this be an opportunity for them to become close again? The only catch: Esme needs a ride from the city to their small Connecticut hometown, and Jane is terrified of getting on the highway because of what she did when they were teens. Jane must either let Esme stand on her own two feet for once or jump to her flighty younger sister’s rescue—and her choice cleaves her life in two.
With a rollicking pace and shocking twists and turns, The Split captivatingly explores how little we know the ones we love—and how one small choice can change everything.

The Split is a domestic suspense novel that follows two sisters, Jane and Esme, with a fraught relationship. One rainy night, Esme calls Jane asking her to come get her after leaving her husband and what follows is two different timelines – one where Jane does pick up Esme, and another where she leaves her.
I’m always looking for a new approach to classic thriller tropes, so I was very interested in seeing how using a “sliding door” moment would work within the genre. Unfortunately, I don’t think it worked. Dual-timeline stories are always tricky, as you have to tell a full story in half the number of pages. The Split doesn’t even crack the 300 page mark, which made it even trickier to have two fully-developed plotlines. If this had been even 50 pages longer, I think the story could have had more of an impact.
I think my fellow mystery/thriller fans will be disappointed with this one as it feels like a pretty generic missing persons story. But, I think readers who are fans of family dramas focused on the relationship between sisters will enjoy this one a bit more.
The Split is out now. Thanks to Atria and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This had a really interesting premise but I found the execution lacking!
Definitely not terrible but not super memorable either.

Oh my gosh! This book was sooo good! I was so hooked and could not put this down!
I loved the dynamics of the back and forth and two different storylines based on what decision was made- it truly made this so hard to put down needing to know what was gonna happen!
Thank you so much to the publisher for sharing this twisty book with me in exchange for my review!
