Overall, I enjoyed this book, though it felt a bit young for me. It had most of the key elements of a good rom-com: a genuine connection with a stranger, internal struggle due to some silly rules, and a secret identity that, unfortunately, wasn’t well-hidden. A simple name change doesn’t alter appearance or personality, which I found frustrating.

Still, it was a quick and somewhat enjoyable read. It did make me feel old, as high school graduation was over 20 years ago for me, but I think younger readers, especially 20-somethings, might really love this book. I’d still recommend it to the right audience.

Thanks to NetGalley, Mary Karlik, and her self-published book for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

this was the kind of in between book you would read when you just need something light and fluffy to read real quick. i enjoyed it but it wasn't super memorable, even though it held my attention in the moment and i would recommend it to others.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Jenna and Fraser. Jenna is a senior in high school. Fraser is an actor who is being sent to Jenna’s hometown. He has to pose as a student, by the name Ethan Smith. Jenna meets him as soon as his first day of school. She helps him with where his classes are, and even gives him a ride to school. They start dating. Then he has an emergency family event and has to leave the country. Jenna doesn’t know what is going on. Eventually Fraser reaches out to her. They fall in love.

I had high expectations for this Mary Karlik read. But the writing style and storyline just didn't keep me interested. I think I was annoyed from the start with the family pretending to be someone else. I never got past that.

Three simple rules.
1) No dating
2) No drama
3) No disclosing his true identity

Very low spice level in this book, definitely YA quite well written and hard to put down.

Small town YA, hidden celebrity romance.

Three Simple Rules is fun, quirky, and smart. I love a secret identity story, and this one doesn’t disappoint. Scottish movie star Fraser (a.k.a. Ethan) must follow three simple rules to maintain his secret identity in America. The main one is no dating! It’s going well until he meets smart and pretty Jenna, then the game is on. There’s plenty of sweet feel-goods! The writing is amazing, and the story is heartwarming. Definitely recommending this book to all my family and friends! I could see this novel being loved by people of all ages!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Three Simple Rules.

If you are looking for a Hallmark version of a Young Adult book, this book is your book. There are a few swear words, but they keep the spice level to kissing. It was an easy read, the story flowed along quickly. The book deals a little bit about drug addiction and abuse. All in all it is a good book.

I tried to get into the book but ended up DNF'ing it because the writing just isn't my style. I don't exactly know what I was expecting but it felt a bit too pedantic to me. But it may just not be my vibe of book. Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to check it out, though!

Three Simple Rules is a cute/fluffy high school rom-com read.

Things I Liked/Loved:
💗: Small town/community
💗: Set in Texas (bias because I live in Texas)
💗: Dual pov

Things I Didn’t Like/Enjoy/Confused Me:
😢: I hated how much Jenna went back and forth liking then not liking to liking Fraser, it was very frustrating.
😢: Didn’t feel the chemistry of both main characters, their love story felt rushed. Pacing of the story was off/felt like parts were being skipped.
😢: Overall, this book didn’t keep my interest. I kept picking it up and putting it down. It took me way longer than it usually would to finish this book. I thought I would finish the book in 2-3 days, it took me 4 months!

Thank you so much NetGalley, the publisher and Mary Karlik for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. 💗

Thank you NetGalley for the review copy!

A cute rom-com that was a bit too much ya for me. I am sure many people will connect with the mc's more than I did. So if you enjoy a ya rom-com with high school setting, small town vibes and some secrets this book is for you :)

This was a cute high school romance. I love rom-coms, and while I enjoyed this one, I felt like the characters could have been better developed throughout the story.

Really cute celebrity romance that would be suitable for YA. Small town friends to lovers story with dual POVs make this a great lighthearted romance.

Thank you @netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

First thank you to netgalley, the publisher, and the author for allowing me to read this book for an honest review.

Honestly was thrilled to read a rom com but I just could not connect with the characters. I dnf the book since I felt the girl character was a little much. I think right from the start her attitude and how she treated her grandma didn't sit well with me. I hope this book gets in the right hands of someone else who can fully enjoy and connect with the characters.

Three Simple Rule…. Oh how I couldn’t put this book down.
Thank you NetGalley and Mary Karlik for letting me get the ARC for this book. I fell I love with this book right of the back. Maybe it’s a Texan thing but it was really nice seeing a small town romance come to life in front of you. The mysterious actor coming into a small town to be a regular high school student who fell in love with a normal senior who her priorities are school and school alone. The romance aspect was my favorite and how they stayed truth to themselves how Ethan Smith I mean Fraser Anderson did everything in his power to stay truth to his feelings to Jenna Wiley. I loved the ending and all the outcomes.

Fraser Anderson comes from a tight family who face some family troubles a long the way. His sister ran away and came across dealing with drugs and drug overdose and even though drugs are a big scary topic this book brought the family together in a way that everyone would like that if it happened to them, The relationship between brother and sister, son and father, son and mother evolved for the better.

I will love to read other book from the author. He writing style is so easy and flows so easy. Like I mentioned before I couldn’t put it down and will definitely be a reread in the future,

Overall I liked this book even though it read really young. It have most of the elements of a good rom-com: a real connnection to a stranger, internal struggle to fight off more (dumb rules), and in this case, a secret identity that was not well hidden. A name change does not change appearance or personality; I found this part of the novel annoying.

However, this was still a quick read for me and somewhat enjoyable. It did make me feel old because high school graduation was over 20 years ago for me. Someone younger may actually love this book and I still recommend it. I think the intended readership was for 20-somethings.

This was a cute, easy read. It definitely felt much more YA than I went into it thinking it would be. Younger me would have devoured this. The pace was a little too quick once the “secret” was revealed but when I think about a teenage girl and the way they work, I would have been the same way. Definitely recommend for the younger female reader or if you want a quick easy fluffy romance!
