I’m so in love with this series! I can’t put it down. Heart song was a surprise for me, when I figured out Robbie had lost his memory I was beyond shocked. It broke my heart that he couldn’t remember anyone or anything from his past. I’m so excited for the next book!
T.J. Klune creates immersive worlds that make you feel all the emotions. This book was no exception. I was a bit perplexed in the initial few chapters, albeit not in a bad way. T.J. Klune spins you on your head, then steadies you and sets you off. The story gives you adventure, villains, romance, and plenty of scenes that have you whipping through the pages. I smiled, laughed, cried and couldn’t put it down. The author did a wonderful job capturing Kelly’s pure kindness and developing Robbie’s loveable character, and made me crave a deeper exploration of Robbie’s history and more romantic moments between Robbie and Kelly as they were so sweet together. Without giving away any spoilers, the ending was unexpected and made me want to scream! I love that this book includes representation and that the story feels enveloped in the themes of unified family and finding home.
Thank you NetGalley and Tor Publishing Group!
This book had all of the things I've come to love from a T.J. Klune book. Found family, loveable characters and an overall heartwarming vibe, but this book was also so heartbreaking. It felt really different from the rest of the books in this series but in a great way. I thought I knew where this story was going and I thought it was following the same format as the previous book in the series but I was pleasantly surprised when I was wrong.
This book makes you feel safe and warm and happy even when it's ripping your heart out and making you sob. But then two paragraphs later you'll be laughing at something Chris, Tanner or Rico say or giggling and kicking your feet at Kelly and Robbie's relationship. Robbie has always been my favourite character and I loved reading the story from his point of view and seeing how he views the Bennet's and his role in their pack. He feels like a big teddy bear and his goofiness and positivity make him so endearing.
This was one of those books that I wanted to sit and devour in one sitting but I had to force myself to savour it and make it last.
I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Once again, Klune delivers a book that's impossible to put down. Somehow each book is better than the last, even though I gave the previous one a perfect rating and it focused on my favorite character of the series. Klune's words are magnetizing, lyrical, intense. He has a way of repeating phrases at critical times to the point that when they happen, you feel the weight of all the previous moments in the current one.
As the book unfolds, there's a growing ache that tears you apart from the inside. It's so, so blue with flashes of green relief hidden away in memories. The characters you've come to know and love from the first two books are shown here through a fractured mirror, the events between the last book and this one slowly becoming clearer in haunting retrospective. The addition of this narrative and tonal layer, the prolonged distancing from the beloved pack found family dynamics, is a smart choice on Klune's part because it forces you to look at things from a different angle, refreshing the series and making you fall in love with the characters all over again.
The emotional experience of reading this book is turned up to the max then multiplied by two with no compromise on the intensity. It's a constant alternating between joy and laughter from the relationships or heart-in-the-throat tension from the action. This may sound exhausting but it's executed so perfectly that it's exhilarating instead. You feel like you're in Robbie's shoes, experiencing things exactly as he experiences them, and even experiencing what other characters feel and think just as closely because Klune is that good at showing how perceptive Robbie is.
The dialogue is so sharp, whether to make you laugh out loud (Rico's commentary is especially entertaining) or to make you literally gasp at the hurt conveyed or to make you cry from the pure beauty of the love between the pack. The book is long, but there are no wasted words, no extraneous exposition. I never wanted it to end.
This book is ostensibly about a werewolf finding his home and a wolf pack fighting against the forces that want to destroy them. At its core, however, it's about love, no one type overshadowing another: romantic love persevering despite all odds and falling in love twice over; familial love bonds fighting for each other even after mistakes are made; the importance of pack love in standing together or falling apart alone; the limits and conflicts of different types of love and the effort required to make them work; and the contrast of all these with the taint of manipulative love. It may sound trite, but the author shows rather than tells in such a way that the themes connect with the reader on the deepest levels imaginable. The core of this book sings to the core of the reader.
Klune masterfully sets up future plot points and dynamics long before they happen, making the conclusion of those arcs all the more satisfying. His setup for this book started in the first one and for the next book started in the previous one. I'm dying to continue.

I have loved every other T.J Klune book I have read so I had HIGH hopes for this book and I was not disappointed. Despite the length, this book felt like it flew by. I could not get enough of the characters. Klune writes relationships (romantic and otherwise) like no other. You will cry and laugh and love along with them. So. Good. Every. Time.
Klune out to break my heart yet again.
Robbie has been a character I have been so enthralled with. And this story wrecked me. I sobbed for a majority of it. And I'm so terrified for Brothersong. I know that book will destroy me even more.
Keep it up Klune I always need a good cry.
Heartsong is the third installment of the Green Creek series. Wolfsong & Ravensong (books 1 & 2) would need to be completed prior to reading Heartsong. The events in this book are following up on the story we learned already. Without the prior knowledge of the Bennett Pack, you would not be able to grasp and understand the event in Heartsong truly.
Heartsong might have been the best (yet) in the series. The story follows Robbie Fontaine and his journey with Michelle Hughes. The great thing about Heartsong is that the story breaks the rules of the series. Are we in the future, or are we in the past?
As the story progresses, Robbie must question everything he knows about Bennetts, Michelle Hughes & Ezra, and the fate of all werewolves. He will be tested and his mind strained as he has to uncover the truth about who he is and who everyone else is to him.
If you have read Wolfsong, I would HIGHLY recommend continuing the series, it only gets better. You will fall in love with the whole Bennett pack, over and over again.
PackPackPack,
Heartsong by T.J. Klune, published by Tor Publishing, is the third book in the Green Creek Series.
This is Robbie and Kelly's story.
A poetic read, drama laden, action packed, a story that gives all the feels. A wonderful pnr read. I recommend to read the books in orders. The previous books are Wolfsong and Ravensong.
This book follows Robbie's story.
Admittedly I was already a fan of the previous books so I wanted to see where this one went.
It is an incredibly touching story of found family, loyalty, and unending unconditional love.
The way TJ Klune writes is exquisite. I'm left thinking of these stories long after I've finished the book. Thank you TJ klune and Netgallery for allowing me access to this book.
I was SO excited to get my hands on this book. This is Robbie Fontaine’s story.
The book started off very unsettling and off. I think that was intentional and speaks true to the Klune’s ability to get the reader in the mindset of the character. It was jarring because I wasn’t sure what time we were in- the past or the present initially.
We then follow Robbie from the compound in Maine and his return to Green Creek. We get some of the past history of him and Kelly, along with seeing how their relationship evolves in the present. We also slowly begin to learn what happened after the Green Creek showdown with Elijah. This time the pack is continuing their fight with Michelle Hughes and Robert Livingstone.
I adored learning more about Robbie and especially Kelly. I think I found the book so unsettling initially and I wanted a little bit more of Ox that it made me give it a 4 instead of 5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley, Tor, and TJ Klune for an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I’m so sick of crying. The world building, the characters, the bonds, everything about this was just…magical.
Thank you to T.J. Klune, Tor, and NetGalley, for giving me an eARC of Heartsong in exchange for my honest review.
Words cannot express how excited I was for Robbie and Kelly's book. This book starts off slightly confusing, however that is something that is done purposefully. The book starts off in Casewell, where Robbie is currently with a witch named Ezra, and following the direction of Alpha Michelle Hughes. How he got there and what time period it is during the start of the book is a mystery, and watching Robbie try to figure out who he is is a great journey to read about.
Strong character development will forever and always be my favorite thing about any book. Heartsong does a good job expanding upon characters that we have already meet in the prior books in the series. Sometimes in companion novels the characters can feel as though they are already established, but in this case, while the characters were already established, they also felt new. Robbie and Kelly compliment each other really well. Their relationship feels so wholesome and in many ways I am saddened that there is not another book following their perspectives. I cannot wait to see where Brothersong will take us and you can bet that I will be getting Heartsong when it comes out. To anyone who loves the Green Creek series, or is a fan of watching a character as they try to figure out who they are, than this book is for you.
Spoiler free-
Love this author and loved this book. I love his writing style and this world. This a fun series for me and I loved all the characters. It has character growth and romance so it’s a 10/10 for me.
The third installation of the Green Creek series and dare I say....the best so far!?!?
This is Robbie Fontaine's story.
Immediately picking this book up, I'm confused and unsettled. Visiting Robbie in the past but something is off...
This book has one of the best beginning of a book I've read in a while. It's not just a bland continuation of the second book. It's MORE. Klune does a great job of giving a previous side character some serious MAIN CHARATER ENERGY and I immediately fall in love with Robbie. I love the way in which Klune sets the tone, the setting, confusion, etc.
This book and this series has so much heart. It is beautiful how this pack find each other again and again. They go through so much. Nothing is immediately solved and they constantly show up for each other and get through it. They truly fight for their happy ending.
And despite the heavy moments and constant obstacles, this book managers to be so funny as the pack's banter kept me going through even the tensest moments.
I laughed. I cried. I fell in love with these wolves all over again. This series is everything and more.
Thank you to NetGalley and Tor Books for my advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!
TJ Klune is a genius.
Loved this book and especially want to call out the Ace representation that is so rare to see.
Do you have to read the first two in the series? Absolutely YES. But why wouldn’t you? This has now joined the pantheon of my favorite series. TJ Klune is a master at creating family and their bonds within, showing us what is important in life (loyalty, unconditional love, faith in each other).
And this third book gripped me from the start, tho I was skeptical about Robbie being the lead. A supporting cast member in the Green Creek pack, Robbie was more than up to the task as we see his life story, and his love for Kelly.
I found this book to be the most tense of the series, with at times feeling my stomach clench as I was so worried about these wolf boys that I adore. And yet even in the scariest moments, the hilarious banter amongst these men could make me laugh out loud. That is serious writing talent.
If you’re wondering whether werewolves are your thing, they weren’t mine…until now. It is hard to say goodbye to this pack after also binging Brotherson - I need more Green Creek books for sure!
This series has become my entire personality. And I really missed my calling as a gay werewolf in the Bennett pack. I love every second of these heartbreakingly beautiful stories, and Robbie and Kelly's installment is no exception. TJ Klune crafts the most wonderful characters that will stay with you for the longest time. This story has great 'ace' representation and depiction of how complex and beautiful these relationships are/can be.
I legitimately tell everyone I know who loves to read that they need to read The Green Creek series. Infinity stars. #packpackpack
Thank you Netgalley and Macmillan publishing for the arc!
5 stars
The third book in the wolfsong series did not disappoint and was full of action and emotion and I am still recovering from al the feelings this gave me. Robbie and Kelly ripped my heart out of my chest with this book. Their story might just be my favorite.
Spoilers ahead!!
When the book began I thought it was a flashback to Robbie's past before he found Ox and everyone and then I realized it wasn't right before he got to the bridge scene. Oh god. Hearing Robbie say he didn't know who Kelly was broke me. Robbie losing his memories of everyone killed me. Robbie relearning Kelly was so beautiful and so achingly sad at the same time. I just wanted to hold them.
The plot of Livingstone and his drama continues to unfold in this book with him desperate to get Robbie back, as he now views him as his. I enjoyed the romance and the action in this book so much.
TJ Klune has such an unforgettable way with words and makes me cry and feel.things with every single book he writes. I will never stop shouting from the rooftops that everyone needs to read not only this series, but all of his books. They are a work of art that rips you apart and gently puts you back together.
“Memories are funny things. I carried them like scars”
TJ Klune’s Heartsong is the 3rd installment in the Green Creek series which focuses on a different character each story.
The writing is beautiful and the descriptions of people & places was excellent, which I really need and appreciate in a fantasy book/ books in general to feel immersed in them and I read it quite quickly. Loved the found family aspect.
It had a great balance of action and adventure, with heart wrenching and sweet moments.
Really loved the ace rep in the book as well.
The new cover is stunning and drew me to the book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Tor Books for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I loved it! Great urban fantasy adventure. It's action packed yet sweet and whimsical too. Robbie's predicament made me dizzy but the camaraderie and loyalty of his buddies was comforting. They're a riot. I haven't read prior books in the series yet but I caught on quick. Excellent author!
