In this 3rd installment of the Green Creek series, Klune continues an exploration of those things we all long for: inclusivity, compassion, love, friendship, and family. Robbie, who we met in "Ravensong" is considered #2 in command from Alpha of All, Michelle Hughes. On his last mission, he is made aware of plans that set in motion a journey that will challenge his every belief. As he battles to regain control of his life, he must separate truth from lies, and rediscover the meaning of pack. It is easy to get lost in the world of Green Creek. The reader isn't just a reader but is also a member of the Bennett pack. That is a truly wonderful thing. "Heartsong" is another 5 Star book from T.J. Klune. Thanks to NetGalley and TOR for allowing early access to this edition.

Knowing that this was going to be from ANOTHER POV when going into it really raised my enjoyment. It was really nice to follow Robbie through his struggles in the second book, but going into the details of why it worked so well for me would be a huge spoiler for book 2. I just love T.J. Klune's writing, he has a way of making the characters jump off the page and feel so real. I wish I was one of the people that this book made cry but it just didn't hurt me the way I wanted it to. The plot throughout this is so sad and heartbreaking and I was rooting for Robbie the whole time. I'm looking forward to seeing how the overarching plot of the series is going to wrap up in the final book!

I've learned some things about the author and while I have enjoyed TJ Klune books in the past, I will be skipping the Green Creek series for specific issues that I've become aware of, including a substantial and unnecessary age gap between the main characters and some misogynistic perspectives. While I don't think genocide and indigenous schools played a part in this particular feel-good queer series, I can't forget that the author has used such topics as content for profit in a way that does not accurately portray them as horrific and evil. Thank you for the opportunity to review.

TJ Klune succeeds at crafting layered characters that you connect with and care about. Heartsong is no exception with an emotional journey that finds Robbie searching for where he belongs. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat as Robbie tries to determine who he can trust and who he is against this rich backdrop that Klune has created. As Robbie determines who the traitors are and who is on his side, you're kept guessing as twists keep you turning the page. The mythology and rules of the world are incredible and continue to immerse you in this series. The essence of the story is about belonging and discovery with elements of mystery and romance that add different layers. Highly recommended read and author!

Why does this series just keep getting better & better!?!?!?!

Thank you Netgalley and Tor Publishing Group for the gifted copy of "Heartsong."

Yes, I am a T.J. Klune stan but hear me out when I say this series is A W E S O M E!!! Everything about them will just grip you from the beginning. The characters. The setting. The fantasy. The action. It's all so epic and awesome in the words of Joe Bennett.

I have to admit I was on the fence about this story being from the POV of Robbie but... I am slapping myself in the face for that thought now because dang those wolves I have a deeper love & appreciation for that character now. Robbie stole my heart. I won't ever be the same after reading "Heartsong."

I am yelling to my fantasy girlies who enjoyed "House in the Cerulean Sea" and "In the Lives of Puppets," this is a series you're going to want to read. It has everything that you love in a book that is centered around imaginary worlds. Magic. Outlandish creatures. Romance. Found family. Shocking twists. Truly, every page is perfection.

Yes, yes... I am a little bias but have I ever strayed you guys wrong? NEVER. Just trust me. Read about these darn wolves. *happy sigh*

I loved being back in the world of Green Creek again with the Bennetts. I was quite excited to get more of Robbie's story, as I particularly was interested in Kelly. However, I found the beginning very confusing. I couldn't figure out how long it had been since the events of the first novel, nor could I actually place myself in any sort of time or place. I recognize this is probably by design, but it was a little jarring to begin a book that way, as the last ended with zero notion that any of this would or could occur. I figured it would be like the last book, and pick up where the last left off. I recommend pushing through this.

For me, the first half lagged entirely due to Robbie. I wanted pack and all that good love. The second half gives it to you, along with all the action that I was expecting to occur due to the end of Ravensong. All in all, I really enjoyed the book and again look forward to the last in the series.

In a series where I have consistently loved the characters and have been wholly invested in the lives of each and every one of them, "Heartsong" may just be the best installment yet. This emotional rollercoaster, which is a nonstop ride from beginning to end, puts Robbie and Kelly's relationship at its center, but is as much a Bennett Pack story as it is Robbie and Kelly's. I'm not even sure I know how to put into words why it was as affecting as it was, save to say that Klune has done a masterful job in creating characters who are just so entirely human that it's impossible not to love them and feel for them and want them to be happy. I can't wait to read "Brothersong," but at the same time, I'm not sure how any following books could live up to this one. (But the CLIFFHANGER.)

I didnโ€™t finish it. I think this one just wasnโ€™t for me. I canโ€™t even really describe what the problem was. It sounded cute but really my style

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! This book was just amazing! I absolutely loved all the characters. Robbie and Kelly's was definitely my favorite. You will want to start this book in the morning and clear your whole day so you can finish it because you won't want to put it down. This book will definitely make you feel all of you emotions. I would HIGHLY recommend this book.

Thank you NetGalley and Tor Publishing Group, Tor Books for allowing me ot read this ARC for my honest opinion.

I never thought TJ Klune could hurt me like this (and that I would be begging for more?).

This was SO GOOD. Definitely my favorite book in the series so far.

Everything was just perfect. I loved seeing Robbie's character arc, the plot was entertaining, the romance kept tearing at my heart, just.... everything. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and couldn't believe that, after everything we've been through in this series, TJ Klune could still find ways to surprise me. But he did (several times!!!).

This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I can't believe it took me this long to read it!

I am DEVASTATED by the fact that I have to wait until the end of July (?!?!) to read the next one!

Iโ€™m a huge doofus and requested this arc without realizing it was a series. Now reading reviews it doesnโ€™t look like a ton in the overall plot moves forward in this specific book so even though I felt lost when they would talk about certain things with Alpha of all and the Witch guy, the story overall was pretty easy to follow. TJ Klune does found family SO well. I loved the pack and their dynamic and thought their dialogue and banter was soo crass and funny. Robbie and Kellyโ€™s romance was just adorable and Iโ€™m truly obsessed them. Will definitely be going back and reading the first two books and then continuing the series with Carterโ€™s story. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

TJ Klune is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. The writing style, character development and how you fall in love with the characters is just chefs kiss. Reminds me of Fredrik Backman! When I first got this book I didnโ€™t realize it was not the first in the series so I quickly got and devoured the first two and was sucked right in! Highly recommend this series!

4.5 Stars
I had not read the previous books in this series so I did not know what I was getting into when I started this book. Boy was I pleasantly surprised by it! This book stole my heart. I can't wait to read the others now to read all of the back story. I never knew I would love a book about a pack of werewolves so much. It had a little bit of everything. It had action, love, suspense, humor, and the best queer LGBTQ representation.

Thank you to NetGalley and Tor Publishing Group for the opportunity to read this book.

Brilliant and beautiful, TJ Klune has written another heartfelt and powerful novel, this time from the perspective of Robbie in the Green Creek series. I loved hearing his perspective and the character development in this one was unmatched. The way that Klune writes about love is one of my favorite things about him as an author, and I think the beautiful and subtle ways that his characters show love are such gorgeous tributes to love in all of its ups and downs. I cannot wait to continue the series!!

I donโ€™t think thereโ€™s an author alive that writes positive masculinity the way this author does.

Iโ€™m here for all of it.

I loved the characters (surprising, because I was a bit ambivalent about Robbie and Kelly before this book). I loved the setting of Green Creek and that all the townโ€™s people are involved.

I do NOT love the lack of military planning in these books. Between Joe disappearing for years in the first book, then, in this one, attacking an enemy they know they have zero possibility of winning against was anger-inducing.

The Bennets need a capo. Full stop.

Their lack of strategic planning, I cannot wait for the next installment.

Thanks to NetGalley and Tor Publishing for this heart-squeezing ARC.

There is something so comforting about diving back into a series where you know exactly what to expect. Heartsong was a just that for me โ€” a return to Green Creek and the wonderful #foundfamily trope that we know to expect from Klune. This is the third book, the story of Robbie ๐Ÿบ โ€œLobitoโ€ and Kelly, and you do need to start at the beginning, so I recommend Wolfsong first if you havenโ€™t yet read it.

Kelly is โ€œaceโ€ โ€” or asexual โ€” which was a new one for me as I hadnโ€™t yet read a book with a character identifying as such. Thus, it was a different kind of romance between Kelly and Robbie, but still very satisfying for this reader. [Although sometimes too much smut makes me uncomfy so if youโ€™re here for that, the prior two books have much more.]

I laughed, I cried, I pretty much at this point love all of the members of the pack even the โ€œside charactersโ€ and the humans. Rico made me laugh all day long with his banter and sarcasm. I was rooting for the pack until the final epic showdown, where humans will fight alongside witches and wolves in a high stakes winner take all battle.

I remember doing a happy dance and squealing like a piglet when I got approved for this ARC. For me, TJ Klune is an auto-buy author. There is simply nothing heโ€™ll write that I wonโ€™t buy. And this book didnโ€™t disappoint. I was already in love with the Green Creek series, but Heartsong raised the bar even higher.

โค๏ธ So. many. awesome. loveable. characters.
โค๏ธ Banter and pack dynamics
โค๏ธ Heart-wrenching plot twists
โค๏ธ Interesting and terrifying villain
โค๏ธ Positive queer and ace representation
โŒ I wonโ€™t ever get to read this book for the first time again

Plot: (Seriously, how to sum up this book without spoiling anything?!)
Robbie Fontaine works for the most powerful wolf in America, the โ€œAlpha of allโ€: Michelle Hughes. He lives with the packโ€™s witch, Ezra, who is also his father-figure and protector. He is happy, he is loved, he is trusted, he is pack. But sometimes he dreams of wolves he has never met before. Sometimes he hears calling or singing or howling that calls him home, to a place heโ€™s never been before. A short mission outside his compound sows doubts in his mind, making him start to question everything he knows and believes in.

Phew, why is Klune *always* finding new ways to crush our hearts like his life depends on it? This book was so touching, so heart-wrenching, so beautiful it hurts. I swear I *screamed* at my partner at some point because I had too many emotions and couldnโ€™t deal.

When starting this series, I thought things would probably get repetitive at some point, but this one went in a completely different direction. The pace was slow where it mattered, faster where it mattered, with carefully crafted plot twists and relatable interactions. The stakes seem to be getting higher and higher with every book, and although the good guys are numerous and superpowered, it still always feels like everything could fall apart at the slightest misstep.

Note: This one was much less spicy than the previous ones, with great ace (asexual) representation.

Characters:
Characters, character development, and interactions are Kluneโ€™s strong suits, in my opinion. Some authors only have a couple of characters to develop, and yet we never grow attached to them like we do to Kluneโ€™s broad range of characters. Iโ€™m not being dramatic: I am deeply attached to every single member of the Bennett pack, from Jessie to Carter to Ox to Elisabeth. And Kelly, oh Kelly! But Robbie, Robbie. Awkward, goofy, fierce Robbie has been my favourite for a while now. I was so happy this book was about him!

(Sometimes I get sad, thinking about how Iโ€™ll never have Thomas Bennett press his snout on my forehead so I can say, โ€œOh.โ€)

Now, about villains. In the first book, I thought Richard Collins was an underwhelming villain. But Robert Livingstone, ROBERT LIVINGSTONE. What a legend. I hate to love him and love to hate him.

Writing:
I could read Klune all day. Sharp, evocative, unassuming, and poignant, his prose perfectly supports his flawless storytelling style. No one writes banter and wolf pack dynamics like Klune. I love the way his characters switch from human to wolf to human, the way they think and act when they are wolves. Seriously, he destroyed shifters for me: Iโ€™ll never read another shifter book without comparing to the Green Creek series and feeling disappointed. (Looking at you SJM)

Did I say I recommend this series?

Robbie wants a place to belong and ever since his mother died he has been bouncing from one pack to another staying with each just long enough to make sure he doesn't turn feral. Things are going just fine until he receives a summons from the wolves in Caswell, Maine. From their alpha and a friendly witch, Robbie just might learn what it means to be truly a part of a pack. That is until Robbie is sent on a mission and suddenly begins to question everything he has been told and where it is he belongs

I love TJ Klune's books, he writes them so well and I love this series. This is the 3rd book and I enjoyed it so much. These books hook you and take ahold of you and it's a have to finish to see what happens. You can't stop reading these! I can't wait for the next book in the series! 5 star read!
I just reviewed Heartsong by TJ Klune. #NetGalley

I would say that this series belongs less in the romance genre as it goes on (itโ€™s more fantasy with a romance subplot) but it remains a wonderful, emotional, devastating ride. Canโ€™t wait for BROTHERSONG.
