There is something so comforting about diving back into a series where you know exactly what to expect. Heartsong was a just that for me — a return to Green Creek and the wonderful #foundfamily trope that we know to expect from Klune. This is the third book, the story of Robbie 🐺 “Lobito” and Kelly, and you do need to start at the beginning, so I recommend Wolfsong first if you haven’t yet read it.

Kelly is “ace” — or asexual — which was a new one for me as I hadn’t yet read a book with a character identifying as such. Thus, it was a different kind of romance between Kelly and Robbie, but still very satisfying for this reader. [Although sometimes too much smut makes me uncomfy so if you’re here for that, the prior two books have much more.]

I laughed, I cried, I pretty much at this point love all of the members of the pack even the “side characters” and the humans. Rico made me laugh all day long with his banter and sarcasm. I was rooting for the pack until the final epic showdown, where humans will fight alongside witches and wolves in a high stakes winner take all battle.

I remember doing a happy dance and squealing like a piglet when I got approved for this ARC. For me, TJ Klune is an auto-buy author. There is simply nothing he’ll write that I won’t buy. And this book didn’t disappoint. I was already in love with the Green Creek series, but Heartsong raised the bar even higher.

❤️ So. many. awesome. loveable. characters.
❤️ Banter and pack dynamics
❤️ Heart-wrenching plot twists
❤️ Interesting and terrifying villain
❤️ Positive queer and ace representation
❌ I won’t ever get to read this book for the first time again

Plot: (Seriously, how to sum up this book without spoiling anything?!)
Robbie Fontaine works for the most powerful wolf in America, the “Alpha of all”: Michelle Hughes. He lives with the pack’s witch, Ezra, who is also his father-figure and protector. He is happy, he is loved, he is trusted, he is pack. But sometimes he dreams of wolves he has never met before. Sometimes he hears calling or singing or howling that calls him home, to a place he’s never been before. A short mission outside his compound sows doubts in his mind, making him start to question everything he knows and believes in.

Phew, why is Klune *always* finding new ways to crush our hearts like his life depends on it? This book was so touching, so heart-wrenching, so beautiful it hurts. I swear I *screamed* at my partner at some point because I had too many emotions and couldn’t deal.

When starting this series, I thought things would probably get repetitive at some point, but this one went in a completely different direction. The pace was slow where it mattered, faster where it mattered, with carefully crafted plot twists and relatable interactions. The stakes seem to be getting higher and higher with every book, and although the good guys are numerous and superpowered, it still always feels like everything could fall apart at the slightest misstep.

Note: This one was much less spicy than the previous ones, with great ace (asexual) representation.

Characters:
Characters, character development, and interactions are Klune’s strong suits, in my opinion. Some authors only have a couple of characters to develop, and yet we never grow attached to them like we do to Klune’s broad range of characters. I’m not being dramatic: I am deeply attached to every single member of the Bennett pack, from Jessie to Carter to Ox to Elisabeth. And Kelly, oh Kelly! But Robbie, Robbie. Awkward, goofy, fierce Robbie has been my favourite for a while now. I was so happy this book was about him!

(Sometimes I get sad, thinking about how I’ll never have Thomas Bennett press his snout on my forehead so I can say, “Oh.”)

Now, about villains. In the first book, I thought Richard Collins was an underwhelming villain. But Robert Livingstone, ROBERT LIVINGSTONE. What a legend. I hate to love him and love to hate him.

Writing:
I could read Klune all day. Sharp, evocative, unassuming, and poignant, his prose perfectly supports his flawless storytelling style. No one writes banter and wolf pack dynamics like Klune. I love the way his characters switch from human to wolf to human, the way they think and act when they are wolves. Seriously, he destroyed shifters for me: I’ll never read another shifter book without comparing to the Green Creek series and feeling disappointed. (Looking at you SJM)

Did I say I recommend this series?

Robbie wants a place to belong and ever since his mother died he has been bouncing from one pack to another staying with each just long enough to make sure he doesn't turn feral. Things are going just fine until he receives a summons from the wolves in Caswell, Maine. From their alpha and a friendly witch, Robbie just might learn what it means to be truly a part of a pack. That is until Robbie is sent on a mission and suddenly begins to question everything he has been told and where it is he belongs

I love TJ Klune's books, he writes them so well and I love this series. This is the 3rd book and I enjoyed it so much. These books hook you and take ahold of you and it's a have to finish to see what happens. You can't stop reading these! I can't wait for the next book in the series! 5 star read!
I just reviewed Heartsong by TJ Klune. #NetGalley

I would say that this series belongs less in the romance genre as it goes on (it’s more fantasy with a romance subplot) but it remains a wonderful, emotional, devastating ride. Can’t wait for BROTHERSONG.

Heartsong is Robbie Fontaine’s story, and my favorite book of the Green Creek series so far! Without any spoilers, this book dives into Robbie’s past, his present, and lots of pack bonds, politics, and magic.

I wasn’t ready to be so emotionally invested in Robbie’s story or his relationship with Kelly, but this book hit me in all the feelings. There is so much drama, so much pain, and just so many feelings from all the characters. The found family aspect of this series is still strong in this book and even expands to the entire town of Green Creek. This book was less of a romance than the previous two in the series, but Robbie and Kelly’s relationship is still explored in a really beautiful way.

This book was fantastic and I’m excited for Carter’s story! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC.

TJ Klune writes another installment of Green Creek. A heartwarming cozy book that has loveable characters and found family. I felt this was an emotional rollercoaster for me, but I feel that way with most of TJ Klune books. I was very lucky to be picked as the ARC reader for this amazing book. I am grateful and delighted to submit my review for it. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley!

“You. Are. Wolf.
You. Are. Pack.
You. Are. Bennett.”

Robbie Fontaine just wants to belong. After bouncing around maintaining minimum bonds to stay sane, he is now working for the Alpha of All and has a place to belong. But then he starts dreaming of other wolves who say he is theirs. And they are his.

This book, like most of TJ Klune’s books, is a heart ripper with an HEA. Robbie and Kelly have to fight to be together. And while they get their happiness, the Big Bad Guy is still a looming threat to the Bennett Pack and all who support them.

4.5 stars! This book was absolutely heartbreaking, but also put my heart back together and then made it burst from happiness and love. There was so much emotion in this book. I sobbed from happiness and sadness throughout this story. As the third book in this series, I truly thought nothing could get better than the last two, but I feel like TJ Klune just keeps giving me more and more to love. This beautiful wolf pack has captured my heart. I loved getting to know more about Robbie in this story. He is such a special character and knowing even more about how much he fought for his place and his found family made me love him so much more. This story like the rest has so much about found family and love in all of its forms. I also am so surprised by how even though this book is long it felt like it was wasn't long enough.

I have never met a TJ Klune book I didn’t like.
Book 3 followed Robbie, who has been a minor character until now. Because of this, it took me awhile to become invested. Then the pack came into the story and I was reminded of the love between this family. I just love them all. Rico makes me laugh with every word he speaks. I need more Rico in book 4! On to Brothersong!

Thank you to TJ Klune, NetGalley and the publisher for a copy in exchange for an honest review

Another incredible installment in this lovely and heartbreaking series!!! I was a little confused at the beginning since I couldn't quite remember how the last book ended, but it was only a little disorienting and I got sucked back into the story. I love Robbie and Kelly, and I can't wait for the next book!

Ravensong was one of my absolute favorite reads last year, so I was over the moon to get the approval from @netgalley and @torbooks to read Heartsong. Ugh....I love this series so much!!!! Of course, I still had to buy a physical copy even though I had already read the digital copy, lol. {not me vying to be president of the TJ Klune fan club}

Wolfsong, book one, is Ox's story. Ravensong continues the series with Gordo's story. Heartsong is all about Robbie Fontaine. To be honest, at first I was like, "Why Robbie???" But Klune showed me why he is the genius writer, and I am the adoring fan.

Once again, I have been sucked into the Green Creek world, and I'm so happy to be here. There's so much emotion in Heartsong. Klune has a way of making you feel each and every thing his characters are feeling. With love and loyalty, family and betrayal, the reader falls in love with the Bennett pack over and over again. Klune taps into that basic human need for connection and acceptance. If you're looking for stories that will gut you and heal you, read the Green Creek series.

About the book:
It's a story about love, brotherhood, family, betrayal, and oh, (if you couldn't tell from the cover), there are wolves.

Read this if you like:
• LGBTQ+ romance
• Fantasy
• Werewolves
• Books that are both character driven and have some action

If this book doesn't make your heart sing, you might want to check to see if your heart is still beating! I honestly didn't expect to enjoy Robbie & Kelly's story so much, but it works in every way. My heart broke. My heart swelled with love. My heart sang. Romance, humor, intensity, suspense, shockers, heart-eye moments . . . Heartsong has it all. It's truly an epic addition to the Green Creek series with too many special moments & scenes to count. Once I got into this story, I could not put it down. It's simply brilliantly written & delivered! And what a perfect set up for the final book, Brothersong! I can't wait!

Heartsong is book 3 in the Green Creek series, with Wolfsong and Ravensong coming beforehand. You do need to read books 1 and 2 before this one. This is the bittersweet and beautiful love story between Robbie and Kelly. The characters are so well written, and the development and depth of the story is so damn good. You can always count on TJ Klune to write the best family and friendship dynamics, and to do so with hearth and humor.

Oh gosh, where do I start….? I’ve looked forward to every single TJ Klune book I’ve picked up and Heartsong was no exception, even knowing that it would tear my heart up.

It did not disappoint.

The start of this book can be a little confusing - give it time. You are thrown into a world where Robbie is no longer with the pack. Which makes no sense. Until it does. And oh man, the turmoil that ensues is enough to tear your heart out and drag it down a gravel path before you can even regain your breath.

“I don’t know if it’ll ever be the same again.”
“Maybe not. But we start again. Because even if everything is burnt to a crisp, we can always try again and again.”

I love this pack of shapeshifters, witches and humans. The Bennett pack. Family. Love. Devotion. We all could learn so much from them.

“Because if we let anger consume us, if we let it take control, then we run the risk of losing everything we love.”

This is the story of Robbie and Kelly, and it’s one of remembering where we come from. The obstacles we face, and how we learn to love again.

I will never be able to say enough about TJ Klune’s writing. It’s beautiful and poetic and captivating.

“You’ve survived,” I said, surprised at how bitter it sounded.
“We did. But there’s a difference between surviving and living. And I want to live, Robbie. I deserve it. We deserve to exist in a world where we only know peace. We deserve to be happy. You deserve it.”

Ugh, my wounded heart….

Thank you to NetGalley and Tor Publishing Group for this arc in return for my honest review.

Heartsong is one of my two favorite books of all time. I can’t even begin to explain how much it means to me. It’s SUCH an emotional roller coaster though. It’s heart wrenching at times and hilarious at others, and bittersweet in the most perfect way.

Robbie and Kelly are just everything. I see myself in both of them and I have truly never adored two characters more. The ace rep is top tier and done so well, I have never felt so represented by any ace character in my entire life. Kelly was such a comfort to me as I was still figuring things out about myself.

The bonds between the entire pack are what I think makes this book (and the entire series) truly spectacular. In this book, I think (other than Robbie and Kelly’s relationship) Gordo and Robbie’s relationship and Rico and Robbie’s relationship are such standouts. I truly can’t recommend this series enough 💚

This book really wasn't for me. I can understand the appeal of it, but the more I try to enjoy wolf and alpha/beta style books the more I dislike them. The poetic writing style during the dreams made me cringe a bit and I just in general did not enjoy the alpha vibes. I think my distaste stems more from personal prefference than from writing style, so I will not tell people to not read it, I just don't like it for myself.

Robbie was taken, his memories stolen and altered. He found himself back in the service of Alpha Michelle Hughes. He remembers nothing of what his life had become since coming to Greek Creek and the family he had found there. He may not remember them, but they are there with him in his dreams. An old witch claims to be his friend and that he will loves him, but an assignment to a defiant wolf pack leaves him with questioning his memories and the life he was living in Alpha Hughes’ compound and questioning his loyalty the alpha and the witch that claimed to be his friend.

After the Bennett pack was able to rescue him and bring him to Greek Creek, Robbie found himself in a life that he didn’t remember living, and that he had been believed to be a traitor. Robbie had to relearn the life he had lived in Greek Creek and regain his connections and trust with his pack and family. He could not remember his previous life with Kelly Bennett, but they had a special connection that he knew he had to find again.

This is the third novel in TJ Klune's Green Creek series; It continues the story of the Bennett pack from the perspective of Robbie Fontaine. Klune captured my heart once again with this one, and as always left me deep in feelings.

This was a story of family and love, but also heartbreak and loss and loneliness. Robbie was introduced into the story as an interloper, and I didn’t like his character initially in the first book, but this book showed me how wrong I was. I thought that his character brought us, as readers, deeper into world than the first books were able to, his backstory with his mother and childhood made his connection and the friends in the Bennett pack more meaningful. His relationship with Kelly was touching, I loved how sweet and loving the relationship was and I thought the presentation of asexuality in a relationship was very respectful and realistic, and as such this book did feel less heated than the first two in the series. The format of him relearning about all the love and family he had before he was taken and then actually rebuilding all the connections that he had lost was moving and made me re-fall in love with all the characters in the world all over again.

I loved this book. I have loved this entire series. Thank you to TJ Klune and Tor Publishing Group for sending me this book to review. Admittedly, Klune was already a favorite author of mine, and I might be biased, but my review is honest. I highly recommend this book and series.

I love this series. This was my favorite by far! I love how much further the author took the story on and how sweet the characters are to each other.

The core of the family is so beautiful and writing is immaculate and purposeful.

This author won a special place in my heart and I am so ready for the next installment

This cover drew my attention to the book and I snatched it up based on the author. TJ Klune is becoming a favorite of mine. I did not notice it was the 3rd in the series until after I'd started reading. It was still a good novel without the backstory so you can read and enjoy it as a stand-alone. Of course, I now have the first two in this series, because...well, it's TJ Klune! Thanks, NetGalley and the publisher, for providing me with the ARC ebook that I read and reviewed. All opinions are my own.
