Oh man! This is a soft 3.
This book is for adults but reads like a YA (in my opinion). There is little action until the end, there is a rather sickeningly sweet love story, and a big baddy that just seems one dimensional. The pros are that there is a bunch of queer representation and there are some genuinely emotional moments.

Robbie Fontaine, seeking a place to belong, finds solace in Caswell, Maine. As the trusted second to Alpha Michelle Hughes, he learns the true meaning of pack and home. However, a mission unveils whispers of betrayal and wild magic, leaving Robbie questioning his allegiance. The suspenseful and sweet story revolves around his quest for truth, entwined with the possibility of a mate in Kelly Bennett. "Heartsong" explores loyalty and the unraveling of secrets that threaten to shatter everything.

Thank you NetGalley and Tor Publishing Group for sending this eARC for review consideration.

The third book in the Green Creek series follows Robbie Fontaine and gives us a unique look at the characters we've already come to love. Up to now we've had an insider pass to the Green Creek pack(s), and now we get to know them again from an outsider's perspective. It's this getting to know them that I found so entertaining. Imagine meeting everyone again for the first time, not knowing their stories. Klune has once again delivered a book that makes me laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time. If you like queer romance, gay werewolves, a bit of forgetfulness, and a lot of pack cuddling, then you need this in your life.

I don’t think its possible to express just how much I love this series. The growth of each character is like nothing I’ve read before. They are all so different and yet still a part of one big happy family. (The most amazing family you will ever meet.)
Any opportunity I get to recommend a book so someone Wolfsong is one of the first books that come to mind. I could talk to hours about each and every character. Kelly and Robbie were just as cute as Joe and Ox. You get to see their relationship blossom slowly throughout the books and this book striped them of that and made their relationship 10x what it was before.
Elizabeth is the mom that you didn’t know you needed and will be there for you no matter what. She was easily my favorite character in this book.
Each hill that Robbie had to climb in order to get back to where he once was only made him and the relationships he formed that much better.

If you take anything from this review just know that you will not regret reading this book. 100% recommend.

Oh, TJ Klune, you are a brilliant man! To be honest, I wasn’t as excited to jump into book three when I knew it was about Robbie. He isn’t an OG, and you don’t get to know him that well in book two. I am so glad to report that I was so wrong. This book might be my favorite of the three! We are focusing on Robbie and Kelly.

We jump time and we are with Robbie on a compound. It’s a bit confusing because that’s not quite what we remember, right?! It was jarring and I was trying to figure out what was going on. Considering the last two books it’s a different approach. In the end, it makes sense but you just need to hang in there. It will all make sense eventually. haha. Something to note is that the overall plot of this book moves at a snail’s pace. I’m not saying that the book itself does, just the actual plot.

We get Robbie’s backstory right away, and I knew this was going to be a heartbreaking story. I cried so many times. I have to quote a moment in the book because it’s what I kept telling my husband. haha!

“I’m not crying. My eyes are sweating.”

I have a love for all of these characters, even the ones that are no longer with us. Klune does such a fabulous job pulling in from previous characters and making you fall in love with them all over again. I’m trying so hard to not do spoilers here so I’m going to try and keep it vague. Robbie and Kelly are so sweet and their love for each other is inspiring. It’s crazy what all they have to go through but their character arcs are just so beautifully written. Robbie might have become one of my favorites and I never thought I would be saying that!

I have to take a minute to talk about all our supporting characters, aka the pack. The humans are dwindling but gosh are they amazing. Jessie is a character that I have loved from the get go! I have always loved Elizabeth and her Queen status with the pack. In this book, she really steps up and I love her for it. Rico has huge character growth in this book too and he gives some great humor in intense moments.

“We are literally the gayest pack that has ever existed,” Rico said to no one in particular. “I see no problem with this.”

Overall, this was an amazing book and I cannot wait for Brothersong. I know, I will have to keep the tissues handy because things have become intense. I don’t know if I’m ready for the conclusion but I’m going to love every minute of it. I highly recommend this series if you are a fan of TJ Klune and werewolves!

Many thanks to Tor and Netgalley for an e-arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own!

Thank you to Tor Publishing and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of HeartSong for my unbiased review. If you've read my previous reviews, you know TJ Klune can do no wrong to me, but man did Heartsong take me on a journey. This, in my opinion, is the best of the series so far. The story is built a little different than books 1 and 2, but I had such a hard time putting it down, and even dreamt about it. I've already preordered my copy of the re-release with its beautiful artwork, and can't wait for book 4!

Although the third installment of the Green Creek trilogy dropped a few years ago, I had not had the opportunity to read it. Can you get a better character than Robbie?! I think not! When the packs have a traitor in their mist, Robbie doesn't know who he can trust.

Heartfelt, moving, and exciting, I laughed and I cried. I hope there is a fourth coming soon!

Thank you Tor Publishing for this ARC. Great TJ Klune world. A story about family lost and found. I hadn’t read books 1&2 which I’ll now go back and do.

Thank you for letting me read this ARC! I haven’t read the other novels in this series, but that didn’t make the reading experience negative. I loved this story and will surely read the rest of the series soon! I loved the lgbt love in this book and truly enjoyed the epic adventure! If a reader liked another TJ Klune book, I think they will really enjoy this one.

TJ Klune has this magical power when I read his books, where no matter what, whatever I’m currently reading is my new favorite book. When I read Wolfsong I was sure nothing would top it. And then I read Ravensong. And then I read Heartsong.

After every book, I’m right back to were I started, swearing the next one can’t possibly be any better than the last. And then he proves me wrong. I’ve said it about every couple in the Green Creek series, but I think Robbie and Carter are my favorite pair. There was so much (and still is) hardship around them, and yet through it all they found each other again.

This book made me way more emotional than the previous two books (but I’m an emotional person so it’s not hard to make me shed a tear). Between the circumstances around Robbie and Carter, Robert Livingstone’s form of warfare, and everything that happens at the end, I was a tearful mess.

Basically, I need the next book in my hands immediately so I can see what happens next in Green Creek. I can’t get enough of these werewolves and witches.

This is the book where TJ Klune figured out he already had his hooks in me so he had the luxury of throwing me into the deep end of the trauma pit and letting me dig my way out. The pain and the fear and the love and the healing in this book is some of the best I've read in any book ever. Full stop. I'm so much worse than I was before starting this book, but also so much better. I stand by Ox Matheson being my favorite character on the planet potentially ever, his growth arc and journey of self was and still is everything to me.... but at least for the moment, Robbie Fontaine is a CLOSE second.

To anyone who recognizes TJ from House in the Cerulean Sea and Under the Whispering Door, and really like his way of writing soft loving cozy fantasies, I need you to understand that this is not the series for that and will find ways to hurt you that his other books never could. And then once you understand that, I need you to buy and read these books immediately.

This series just keeps getting better and I love the found family so so much. I still think book one is my favorite but I just love the wolves! I loved getting to know about Robbie and his story.

I will start off by confessing I love all TJ Klune. That said little did I know that this Green Creek series would become my obsession.
On the heels of reading Ravensong I couldn’t wait to start on Heartsong. Ox,Joe,Gordo and this one so much about Robbie finding his way home
Thiese magical books about love, family and pack, pack, pack are so worth reading
There is an inate kindness in Klunes stories that bring out the best in humanity whether he’s writing about humans, machines or wolves
Thank you netgalley and Tor press for this story

I had originally declined to give feedback because I wasn't in the right headspace for this book. But I did get around to reading it and wrote a review that I wanted to share.

3.5/5 stars (rounded to 4)
1/5 spice (mostly cause the romantic interest is ACE)

I wanted to love this book and be pulled in right away. Honestly, it took me a long time, and even then it wasn't a book that I "couldn't put down".

To be fair: There might be a few "me" reasons for this. It's book 3 in a series and while the romance is stand alone the book relies on familial/pack relationships and dynamics set up in the first two books. This is the first I read of the series. Also, I just had a difficult time coming to terms with Robbie before his escape (early in the book) and disliked Ezra <spoiler> which makes sense later but when I thought he'd be a major part of the book I was a bit squeemed </spoiler>. (I do plan on going back and reading the rest so---- take my 3.5/5 rating with a grain of salt on this... and let's assume I'd upgrade it if I read them all in order.)

I love how Kelly and Robbie deal with Kelly being ACE. I love Rico and his and Carters ridiculous commentary of LGBTQIA+ relationships and their pack etc. They both had some zinger moments that truly had me laughing out loud.

TJ Klune is definitely one of my favorite authors.

Reading the previous books in the Green Creek series, Robbie became one of my favorite characters. This book just made him more of a favorite character.

Such a rollercoaster of emotions in this book but they're all worth it.

I love that we got to see more into Robbie and Kelly in this one and the rest of the pack.

As a huge fan of this series and TJ Klune, HEARTSONG did not disappoint. Through storytelling, lyrical writing, and character growth, I found this book to be a wonderful addition to an already wonderful series.

What I love about this series is that each book focuses on the central story, but how each character plays a role in that story. Though similar themes throughout such as a search for identity, found family, and what it means to be a part of a whole, the way the author approaches these idea are always interesting and varied. This book changes up those ideas, through a pretty surprising twist that had be literally gasping out loud. Those ideas are there, but told in a way that makes this story unique and thoughtful.

Seeing the growth of Robbie and Kelly and the Bennett pack as a whole, intermixed with the lyrical prose made this book as beautiful as the others.

The only thing that bothered me just a bit is that I think the book was a BIT too long. I think there was so unnecessary repetition, but story wise, I can understand why it’s there. It didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the book however.

Overall, I really loved this book. I definitely think this series is a must read, especially if you love Klune’s precious books, found family vibes, LGBTQIA+ representation, and werewolves! Just make sure you read the other books in this series first or you won’t understand the story!

Thank you to Tor Books and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Ok, so, I didn’t know that this was part of a series when I requested it. I just adore TJ Klune and was drawn in by his name alone. I will say that I was a bit lost (as I haven’t read the other books in the series) but that didn’t take away from the storyline at all! This was not a typical love story, and I’m here for it! I’m excited to read the rest of the series.
I don’t really know how to review this book. TJ always hits the ball out of the park and this was no exception. All the feelings are felt! The love, the sadness, the angst, the fear! Fellow TJ Kline lovers: read this! You have to experience this book to understand it, to fall in love with it, to have it resonate with you! Just go, get this book now.
Thank you to NetGalley and TJ Klune for an advanced copy of this book. This is my review and I am leaving it voluntarily.

Heartsong, book three in T.J. Klune’s Green Creek series, tells the story of Robbie Fontaine, a lone werewolf who longs for a pack and home ever since the death of his mother when he was a child. He bounces from pack to pack, forming temporary bonds that keep home from becoming an omega and turning feral. He finds a home with witch Ezra and Alpha of All, Michelle Hughes. On a task for Michelle, Robbie’s world is tilted on its axis when he discovers and omega child who is not feral. The child is an omega thanks to a powerful witch’s spell. After Robbie returns home to his pack, things are weird and his is missing several days in his memory. His investigation leads him to the Bennett pack, a pack of wolves who are trying to overthrow the Alpha of All and claim it for themselves. Things get weirder for Robbie when the Bennett pack claims he is one of them, a part of their family. Complicating matters is Kelly Bennett, who seems to be Robbie’s mate even though Robbie could swear he’s never seen Kelly before. Robbie wrestles with the fact that the family he knows is not his true family and navigating life with the Bennett pack who clearly know and love him even though he can’t remember them at all.
“…I wondered how this could be real. Here. Now. This moment. How I ever could have forgotten this. Forgotten him. It had to have been the strongest magic the world had ever known. That was the only way I’d have ever left his side.”
Kelly and Robbie have floated around the edges of a relationship in the previous books so diving in and discovering their love story along with Robbie was bittersweet. I loved seeing them fall in love again but was sad that it was taken away from them by Michelle and Robert Livingstone. The themes of family and betrayal are strongest in this book. The Bennett pack is the most obvious example of a family. They love each other and do everything they can to support Kelly and Robbie after Robbie has lost his memories but like families in real life, they made a mistake in not immediately going after Robbie and leaving him with Michelle and Ezra/Robert for over a year. The pain and betrayal Robbie felt with the Bennett pack was just as strong as the pain and betrayal he felt with the family he could remember with the pack in Maine. The town of Green Creek has also become a family in a way. They have banded together and support each other through the events of the book.
I personally love all of the Green Creek series but Heartsong is a particular favorite. The theme of family throughout the series is at the forefront of Robbie’s story. Heartsong really delved into what it means to be a family, all of the ups and downs and the work that goes into maintaining those relationships especially when things go wrong.
