The beginning of the book starts with an introduction to the history of the Amish and Mennonite people, what they believe and how their beliefs have shaped their character and influence in their world and ours.
The chapters are divided into headings that give short pithy comments on various aspects related to the topic.
Meal Prepping discusses knowing where your food comes from, freezing recipes, using an egg slicer and how not to cry over onions. There are also tips on shortening pasta cooking time, making your rice fluffy and cutting down on bean gas.
The section on Vegetables and Fruits gives a way to wash vegetables and fruits so they last longer, peeling oranges, coring a lettuce, how to improve the taste of potatoes and preventing the smell of cooking cabbage from invading your house by putting vinegar in it.
I want this book so I can make my food last longer, make it taste better and grow a better garden - what a treasure trove!
