King Casper has been captured by the fay, and secrets of Nor's parentage have been revealed. Now, Nor must navigate the fay court and figure out how to free Casper.
I said it of the first book, too--these books are tropey and self-indulgent and I like them so much. They're easy, fun reads with a glittery world and fun characters, and the folklore-retelling aspects are incorporated in creative ways. My one complaint is that I ended the first book truly unsure if Nor would end up with Pel or Casper and unsure who I wanted her to choose (one of the few love triangles I've ever read that manages that). But right off the bat, this book informs us who she's going with, so that aspect of the tension from the first book is gone. I still had such a good time, though, and would recommend this duology to anyone looking for a lighthearted-but-still-heartfelt fantasy read.
A nice narration. Young adults enjoy fay storylines, and I believe this to be no exception. Fascinating magic system and wonderful descriptive words.
