Solid 3.5 stars rounded up. Enjoyed the ghost descriptions and felt they were done well, easily visualized. Didn’t really creep me out, explained well without the chilling aspect. Didn’t keep my from sleeping at night. Did find some of the Ouija board stuff silly, use of shit de la shit and f*uckity f*uck odd or out of place. I’d definitely check out more of the authors work and would recommend a read!
Thanks to netgalley and independent book publishers association for my advanced electronic reader copy in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
Among the readers who have reviewed this book, my rating is in the minority. I think this is great, because it means the author has truly found her right audience.
I thought this book would be my cup of tea, but it simply wasn't for me.
Find Them is an action-packed horror/mystery/thriller about a woman who finds herself haunted -- literally -- in her rural Pennsylvania farmhouse. She decides to do some sleuthing to discover more about the ghost that keeps appearing to her, and respond to the directive to "find them" - and she must discover what that means.
On the whole, I think this was an interesting concept and story. However, the writing style was simply not my favorite. It managed to have a lot of things happening, but without a real build up of suspense. I found that there were too many events happening back-to-back, and I was experiencing reading whiplash throughout. The main character was also not endearing to me, and I did not enjoy her POV.
But like I mentioned, this book clearly has an audience! Turns out I'm just not the right one.
I first want to thank Julia Ash and NetGalley for this ARC eBook edition.
Story is about things that go bump in the night. UNSOLVED mystery and a trouble spirit with clues thats been hidden for 70 years. It was tense and haunting. I enjoyed the mystery and just kept turning the pages. Held my attention and I really enjoyed this.
LOT 16 WAS NEVER TO BE SOLD. Generations pass and the estate's directive is overturned. Situated on a grassy hilltop overlooking a lake and wildlife preserve, the 30-acre parcel is perfect for Nora and Dex. They'll escape their city's rising crime, build a home with an amazing view, work remotely, and start a family. Only, their idyllic sanctuary becomes anything but. A troubled spirit haunts the land, forcing Nora to find clues to an unsolved mystery. Clues, which have been hidden for 70 years.
Interesting but not quite up my alley.
A haunting mystery that keeps you guessing. The second page of the book and I was like what?!?!?
I did not give it a full 5 stars, because I did guess some of the stuff going on in the story (what I can say I grew up obsessing over scary movies :} ) but, do not let that steer you away from this read. It was captivating and only gave you so much information each step of the way where you were begging for more. I did feel that the location at every chapter was not needed as the story started where it was taking place and felt it was a little repetitive. It did not take away from the story or the storyline.
Nora has a bad turn events that sends her and her husband on the hunt for a more peaceful place to live out of the craziness of the city. Little did they know LOT 16 was never supposed to be sold, no one was ever supposed to live on LOT 16 again. What dark secrets is LOT 16 holding. Nora Bliss is about to find out. Her quite place might just become the most frightening place. Read Find Them to watch Nora Bliss transform into a Bada** and go on a whirlwind of an adventure. Can Nora's bad luck be the house, is it something unexplained or is it just bad luck? Read to find out!
I do love a good ghost story, and this one had a good build-up of tension. When a couple buys some land and has a house built, little did they know that there was a ghost haunting a ghost on their land. The malevolent ghost doesn't want the story to come out about the murder that occurred many years ago, and is not afraid to show its rage when they start probing the history of the property. It was a good mystery story as well, trying to get the answer to who was the murderer. It kept me turning pages until late at night.
I received an ARC copy of this book from NetGalley.
I loved this book! It was atmospheric, spooky, and suspenseful. The setting was fantastic - a rural piece of land with history where our MCs were building their dream house.
The MC, Nora, was written very well and I really enjoyed following her journey from helpless victim to someone fully in control and willing to stand up for what she believed in.
There weren't big surprises in the shape of a murder mystery and yet I was thoroughly riveted as I followed Nora's attempts to solve a cold case from 70 years ago with the help of the ghost of the murder victim.
Overall this was a solid, satisfying read
This is a very exciting yet atmospheric Gothic tale set in rural Pennsylvania. Hold on though, you're thinking of a rural haunted house, right? This is not a haunted house tale, it is, however a haunted land tale. According to a decades old will left by the patriarch of the family who used to own Lot 16 and its surrounding 2000-acre ex-farmland, Lot 16 in particular is never to be sold.
This does not stop Nora and her husband Dex from uprooting their city lives and moving to Lot 16 after a traumatic event which has upended Nora's perspective and priorities. They will build their dream house from the ground up on a hilltop overlooking a gorgeous lake, live out the cottagecore rural life while working remotely and honestly, enjoy the rest of their lives. The strange will and rumours among the locals of Lot 16 being haunted be damned. Being city dwellers at heart, everything has a logical explanation, no need to be paranoid.
That is, until the unexplained starts picking up in frequency and intensity. Shit de la shit. I loved the high stakes of the hauntings, I loved Nora, who started timid and eventually grew into a self-assured, determined and compassionate woman after my own heart.
Now here is a minor nitpick. Usually, I struggle to enjoy stories that involve couples moving into haunted places; why must one of them (almost always the "logical, strong" husband type) be the biggest walking stereotype? Always the one to dismiss their partner's hauntings, belittling them under the guise of being logical and "oh don't worry sweetie, I'll protect you" to the point where the poor haunted partner almost always ends up keeping secrets and getting into more trouble because they cannot get these husbands to believe them. This has a little bit of that, but Nora's personality and involvement far overshadow Dex, and Dex does display good character development.
After a scary incident where she was attacked, Nora and her husband, Dex, have decided to leave DC and move to a more rural area. However, they don't realize that the lot they purchased has secrets that don't want to be uncovered.
I thought this one was ok. I think the writing style just didn't build the suspense for me. That is a personal choice though so others might find this more thrilling.
I liked this book but I just couldn't get into the story. I didn't like the writing style but overall the story was good.
Find Them
By Julia Ash
5 stars
I am all about ghost stories and this one was awesome. From start to finish I was gripped by the writing and storyline. The characters were so neat to watch adapt and change throughout the story. The ghost portion was simply awesome. Isabelle was such a fascinating specter. One that was well described and one that kept me really interested as the story as a whole.
I am hard to scare when it comes to books, but this one did just that. I caught myself with goosebumps more than once. It was spooky, well written, and kept me on the edge of my seat. I hated putting this book down. It was completely gripping. This is the first book I have read by this author, but it will not be the last.

Find Them by Julia Ash was definitely a horror novel. The kind that will give you nightmares. If you like Stephen King type novels, you will like this.
A copy was provided for my review, but all opinions are my own.
Now this for one was really hard to put down once you got right into it.
Find them had me hooked from the very beginning of meeting the characters and what can a say. A great choice of characters indeed.
The book was well written and I finished it in one setting, that just shows how hooked a was into it.
Cannot wait to read more from this author. Until next time
I enjoyed this book, but I felt it was a bit longer than it needed to be and the ending rushed. I did like the whole premise and the haunting side of the story. Will definitely try this author again.

Find Them follows Nora Davis, who, after a tragic incident decides to settle, build her forever home and start a family. And LOT 16 was perfect for that. Situated on the grassy hilltop overlooking a lake, it was the perfect sanctuary. A perfect sanctuary with dangerous secrets…
𝐌𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬
A chilling and thrilling, hauntingly mysterious story about a woman who struggles to save her family from a vengeful spirit, and to find the truth hidden for centuries!
I really love it! From the get-go, the dreadful situations start creeping in. One by one, the layers started unfolding and I couldn’t stop reading.. it was an intense page-turner that kept me hooked till the end..
The dual nature of Nora’s life was so amusing - one moment she’s feeding the chicken and the next fighting for her life from a deadly ghost👻 I loved her character immensely!
She tackled things head-on.. didn’t shy away from showing how scared she was of the situation. Her research and actions showed her persistence and courage. Love that her character development was so spirited (pun intended😉).
Moreover, I really loved the plot, the different timelines and the connections in them. From the supernatural to the mystery to the characters, everything was perfectly placed. And the story keeps you on edge with its intensity..
The action scenes were thrilling and I loved Nora’s defence mechanism against the ghosts. The salt bomb necklace is so innovative😆. Plus, there were some twists and turns, which I guessed easily but it didn't hamper my reading experience.
But, that ending! I mean, it was good and satisfactory but it could’ve been better. Because “How is the ghost defeated so easily with the kind of dangerous power it had??“

Overall, an extremely entertaining, fast-paced and captivating horror/mystery.. that’s cosy and incredibly thrilling! With an intense atmosphere and amazing character development, the ending could have been more intense and impactful..

Well this was a pleasant surprise! I don’t read a lot of paranormal activity books but I really liked this one!
I have to tell you that this book will keep you intrigued right up to the last page!
It’s thrilling , disturbing, scary and sad all in one!
I love the author’s writing style and will definitely read her other books!
This book just gets creepier and creepier as it goes on! It wasn't what I expected based on the description, but I went into it with an open mind - and I'm glad I did!
This is a well-constructed and well-thought out story. It has characters with depth and great development throughout. I struggled a bit with the immense amount of detail along with various sub-plots that never found a resolve. But overall, it was a good read.
Would love to read more from this author!
Dark and chilling but most prominently full of suspense. I was wholly engaged and on the edge of my seat. And just hen I thought I knew where it was going--BOOM! Shocking twist!
As I'm reading this book, I can almost hear the creepy music that plays during the movie just before something jumps out and grabs the unsuspecting character. It will give you goose bumps.
Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.
