Wow, what an incredibly twisty read! You think you know the score and then everything shifts. A great read that constantly keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat. I loved the creepy vibes of the book too. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC <3
Find Them by Julia Ash is one of those books that gets creepier as it goes! Do not read alone at night - I know this from experience! A quick read because you have to find out what happens next. i will definitely read more from this author!
This book was pretty good. I enjoyed the protagonist and her sister and really loved the very wholesome relationship between her and her husband. The thing that took this read from 5 to 4 stars for me was the ending - it was a bit predictable. I had guessed it correctly once the identity of the ghost had been discovered. So, I enjoyed reading it but would have enjoyed it a bit more if anything about it had surprised me.
I quite enjoyed this ghost story. It wasn't what I expected, and far exceeded my expectations. It was well-written, with a fully-realized main character, with a pretty believable story line.
I'll read more from the author.
I received a complimentary copy of the novel from the author and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
What a brilliant written ghost story this is. I haven't come across one like this in such a long time.
Dex and Nora find their dream home thanks to her sister, but quickly rumours spread around the time and Nora realises this isn't the dream she thought.
Haunted by a ghost who hasn't been able to rest for over 50 years needs help and wants the truth exposed and Nora is the one to do it.
The tension in this book builds up so well and I found myself feeling really creeper out and scared, feel terrified in my own home. Really gave my goosebumps reading this, and heading towards the end of the book I engulfed the last half in one sitting. Brilliant book, would highly recommend.
This is a powerful, gripping and and completely addictive tale. On one hand you have the love, trust and sensitive ease and understanding of Dex, Nora and her sister Maddie. On the other you have pure evil which lurks in the actions of very nasty people when alive, who are vengeful and full of hate now they are past. The poor victim, the evil that killed her and the mystery surrounding the girl and her disappearance. All this begins with Nora's life taking an unexpected and startling new turn as the couple seek a new life in the wilds of nature. The plot they purchase should never have been for sale as it hides dark secrets and menacing shadows of past events. Nora has to uncover (literally) the truth and solve the mystery before it can destroy everything she and Dex are building for their future. The story is compelling with twists and turns, sadness and scares. I enjoyed every single moment - and cried at the end, fantastically great read!
This atmospheric mystery has very creepy images and ghostly apparitions. I also loved the main character’s animal companions, who are chickens. That said, I’m glad to see so many good reviews because the plot didn’t work for me. It included several subplots that went nowhere, there were too many details and repetitions that distracted me from the action, and the baddie was predictable from the beginning. I can imagine how hard it must be to write a book, so I feel bad when I give a bad review. I really wanted to like this, but I’m not the right reader for it.
I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thank you, #NetGalley/#Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Titles!
Nora is strong, likable and empathetic, and feels like a fully-fleshed person. The ghosts are unique and push the story along without making it feel cheesy or completely impossible. The supernatural elements sent a chill down my spine without feeling overdone, and Nora's responses to these strange occurrences feel mostly probable. Not really my kind of story.
Main character named Nora and her husband move to a new place they look for a place to live and find one an the lot is quick to be sold so they want to buy it right away an get the land. then she hears rumors later on that its haunted an nobody wanted it an there was always these holes appearing in the land. Then she hears from someone at a grocery store that where she is living its haunted. The writing was very creepy and I liked how it was scary when your reading it like a perfect little ghost story with a lot of chapters.
So when I was reading this book I thought it was a little too quick written when they were going to say that the place they had moved was haunted. I wish it was a little slower in talking about the haunting. It would of made the book more interesting to read. I did like about the haunting though an the clues on who this Isabelle is and how the girl was trying to find out information.
it was really good over all and I kept reading to find out the mystery. Also you couldn’t tell if it was a ghost or fugitives broken out of their jail cell since they lived next to a jail. I did love the little mystery on that one also her husband not believing her at first then being pushed and after he decided to believe her. Plus she was pregnant during the story.
Probably best not to read this late at night is all I can say! I was sleeping with the lights on and I have no regrets about it. The story has that creepy atmosphere built up without being too over the top or farcical. There are good twists and turns and the characters are well written and fleshed out. Absolutely had no complaints!
I really liked this book. It was a fast read and I was invested in the main character. The story was gripping and kept me guessing. Will definitely read more from this author.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Living versus the dead.
A ghost story with a twist of whodunit. Can you even ask for more.
Unputdownable from the very beginning.
This story literally kept me on the edge throughout. Definately a page turner. Some scene were so spooky that I had to close my eyes and relax for a while. This is exactly how a horror mystery looks like. Even the paranormal felt so real like I was there myself. I loved the fact that the author tried to keep things simple and that is what made it so real and believable.
Nora and Dex have decided to move to rural areas to settle, starting their own farm, away from the city. Will farm is exactly what they needed. But rurals say the plot was never to be sold. That it is haunted. When Nora and Dex moves in, Nora started experiencing paranormal events, and the there is a message left behind " FIND THEM ". Find who? Who left the message?
The pace is very fantastic. Addictive in a sense. Just the right amount. Setting so well described that you can actually see things happening in front of your eyes. I felt a very deep connection with Nora. I liked her very much. The plot itself was so very well crafted and portrayed that it alone gives out the spooky eerie vibes. Without any gore graphics, the story is very chilling.
The ending was a little predictable for me but that did not change the fact that I was glued to it. I kept asking myself what I would do if I was ther in Nora's shoes, and the answer to it was" Exactly what she did".
I am not going to give any spoiler but I felt so bad for the ghost. Almost in tears i finished the book. I loved her and empathised it equally. I loved the backstory, and the fact that there was haunting inside the haunting. Amazing work
I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone who loves whodunit mystery with a tint of supernatural. Thumbs up. 👍
Love a good, creepy thriller. This scratched that itch well. I may have had a little trouble sleeping after this, but in the best post- read kind of way.
I really enjoyed this! I 1didn't see the ending coming and it moved at a good pace. This was an enjoyable mystery with likable characters. Special Thank You to Julia Ash, the publisher (if applicable), and NetGalley for allowing me to read a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

In “Find them” by Julia Ash, our protagonist is Nora, a graphic designer living in D.C. who has a near death experience on her way to work. This leads her and her husband Dex to decide to move out of the city, and they buy a lot with an amazing view where they build a farmhouse.
But strange things happen in the area from the start, and Nora wonders if it has anything to do with the recently overturned estate's directive: that lot was never to be sold. When the ghost of a girl shows up and paranormal activity puts Nora’s family in danger, she knows she only has two options: find out what the ghost wants from her, or give up on her forever home.
This was just okay for me. There were some spooky scenes and the descriptions made the story feel very atmospheric. The plot seemed interesting enough, but the resolution was very predictable. And while this isn’t always necessarily bad, because finding out that you were right after following the right clues can be very satisfying, that wasn’t the case here. The author is very clear in saying that the, let’s say villain, can be A, B or C, all of whom are obvious choices. But she takes too long to reveal it was C, for the exact motivations you imagined. It was very easy to figure out exactly what happened to that ghost, which just made me frustrated with the MC!
Overall, I felt very underestimated by this book. It's like the author didn’t trust me to put 2+2 together, or even to remember things. There are a lot of very unnecessary repetitions, and the protagonist spells *everything* out for you! It also felt too long: there were a lot of descriptions of chores and the farmhouse and every step Nora took that I think could have easily been cut. Even after the mystery was solved, there were too many chapters that could have been summed up in one.
There was also a subplot about real human danger that I thought was unnecessary and mostly included as a pro-gun message... All of this to conclude that farm life isn’t necessarily safer than city life; you just have to learn how to save yourself!
tl;dr: With some thorough editing, this could have been a better story, but it felt too meandering to me and I found the writing style annoying at points.
As soon as I read the caption of "Lot 16 was never to be sold" I knew I wanted to read this book. After an accident, Nora and her husband Dex decide to speed up their long term plans and move away from the city to build their dream house. Immediately a few mysterious things occur and Nora finds out VERY quickly that someone is trying to send messages, but are they trying to harm her? After a few mysterious occurrences, some dangerous, things ramp up very quickly. Is Nora and her husband in danger? Why was the lot never to be sold? What secrets did the previous owners keep? Is someone from beyond the grave trying to harm them or are they asking for help?
I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! From the first page I was sucked right in. I could not put it down. Each time I said "this was the last chapter for now" something would happen and I had to keep reading. I loved the characters (I mean come on - shit de la shit haha!!) and the way the atmosphere really built as the story went on. It creeped me out at times in the best possible way. I questioned a lot of things trying to figure out who was behind the crazy things that were happening.
I would definitely recommend this book if you like creepy stories with great characters and an incredible ending. I plan to find and read more by this amazing author!
Thanks to NetGalley, Julia Ash and the publisher for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book for free. This was my honest review.
Seriously this book is amazing. The first paged just sucked me in with how much detail there was, plus already learning a decent amount of what seemed was going to be the main protagonist. It felt there was so much good scene laying and plot laying already being put into motion. Something I really enjoyed about reading this book was that there was not TO much description of things or people, but there was a perfect amount to make it not feel like it dragged as well. From the start of this book things immediately start happening and I don’t feel like they stopped happening. The ending is also amazing but I won’t spoil that for you.
I also enjoyed the “ fuckity fucks “ 🤣
Find Them by Julia Ash was a very quick read that I very much enjoyed.
The easy to read writing style and the mystery kept me engaged.
The characters are very interesting and intriguing.
The mystery was great and the events page-turning.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."
Thank You NetGalley and Julia Ash for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing
eARC!
Find Them was a mystery I was excited to get sucked into! From the start, I was invested with Nora and Dex finding their dream house. All while lot 16 should never have been sold, it fell into their hands. The detail during the haunt made me feel like I was in the story I cannot wait to read more by Julia Ash!
