LOT 16 WAS NEVER TO BE SOLD.
Generations pass, the estate's directive is overturned, and Nora and Dex find an idyllic sanctuary to escape the city's rising crime. Thirty acres with an amazing view where they can work remotely and start a family. They don't count on the place being haunted by a ghost.
This book is chilling, the author creates the creepiest atmosphere. My cat jumped up to sit by me when I was close to the end and I literally shrieked. 😂😂😂
I loved the whole story, the atmosphere, all of it. But my favorite thing about this book was Nora, and her character arc through the story. She goes from a scared young woman to a strong and confident woman who won't take sh!t from anyone, even a freaking ghost! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced digital reader's copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review!
While this book didn't quite reach a solid five-star rating for me, there were some standout elements that I genuinely appreciated. The author's adept portrayal of the setting and the overall atmosphere of the book was truly commendable. I found myself completely immersed in the story, walking alongside the characters on their journey.
However, the plot of the story left me somewhat underwhelmed, and I couldn't help but feel that it could have been condensed or streamlined. It's worth noting that another reader with a particular interest in this genre may not share the same sentiment.
In summary, this book was well-executed, with a notable focus on setting and atmosphere. While it didn't reach the pinnacle of a five-star rating for me, it certainly had its merits and is likely to be enjoyed by those with a penchant for this type of storytelling.
This was a weak thriller and not very atmospheric either. I was really looking forward to the plot line but I felt let down by it. Some may enjoy this but it wasn’t for me.
The premise and description of this book drew me in. I love a good ghost story! Unfortunately, I found the narration and writing style to be clunky. It felt artificial to me and it was hard to get into the main character's head. But I did find it creepy and thought that once things picked up it was more enjoyable. A slow start, but ended up being entertaining.

Generations pass and the estate’s directive is overturned.
Situated on a grassy hilltop overlooking a lake and wildlife preserve, the 30-acre parcel is perfect for Nora and Dex. They’ll escape their city’s rising crime, build a home with an amazing view, work remotely, and start a family.
Only, their idyllic sanctuary becomes anything but.
A troubled spirit haunts the land, forcing Nora to find clues to an unsolved mystery. Clues, which have been hidden for 70 years.
Nora must find them or risk the lives of those she loves.
Although slow I did like the story. It had promise. Slow but readable. 4*.
Struggled mightily with this book and gave up about halfway through. While the writing was fine, I found it impossible to connect in any way with the main characters. They're just too richy-rich and absorbed in a world far too disconnected from my own. It's 2023, the only people who have money to buy land near the damn Poconos and build their dream house are the ones I don't want to know. Couldn't care less what happened to them.
Although this book was not a solid 5stars for me, there were some key elements that I really loved about it. The author really nailed the setting, and overall atmosphere of the book. I completely felt like I was immersed in the story with the characters. The plot of the story fell a little bit flat for me, and I felt as if it could have been shortened. Perhaps to another reader they would not feel the same way though if they had an interest in this type of read. Overall really well done.
