I am not a vegan, but I am always on the lookout for different recipes to try. I definitely will attempt to make some of these dishes.
This is a great cookbook for anyone looking to transition to a Vegan diet. All recipes are well set out and easy to follow. I cannot wait to try out some of the recipes
Lots of vegan beginner recipes! Definitely recommend this to new vegans but I didn’t particularly find alot of recipes for myself but I’ve been vegan almost a decade.
Veganizing many recipes was a highlight of this book for me as a newer vegan eater. Also the use of plant-based milks is valuable in many of the recipes I had used cow milk in. Well organized and full of nutritious healthier options.
Easy Vegan: 140 Delicious Recipes from Everyday to Gourmet has great everyday recipes for those who choose to eat vegan or who want to try a plant based diet full of eyecatching appeal.
The cookbook starts with a good introduction into what it means to be vegan, including a good nutritional chart and protein sources. I found the flow chart hard to follow, but the rest of the section gave some good information.
The recipes are listed in the following sections, with some examples of finished dishes.
Basics: How to make milk - two pages; Cream; Butter; Pasta; Vegetable Stock
Brunch: Smoothies; Baked Berry Porridge; Coconut Banana Breakfast Squares; Scrambled Tofu with Black Beans and Spinach
Starters & Light Bites: Chickpea Bites with Roast Pepper Tapenade; Crispy Polenta Bites with Green Tapenade; Mushroom & Avocado Panini
Soups & Cold Salads: Corn Chowder; Soup Au Pistou; Radish Ceviche; Lentil & Cranberry Salad
Warm Salads & Sides: Warm Kale, Barley, & Dried Cherry Salad; Warm Potato Salad
Pasta, Rice & Noodles: Rich Mushroom Lasagne; Macaroni & Cheese; Roast Cauliflower Risotto
Warming Mains: Rich & Creamy Vegetable Curry; Potato & Spinach Vindaloo; Vegetable Crumble
Sweet Things: Vanilla Cupcakes; Sticky Mango & Lime Rice Pudding with Toasted Coconut
There are many interesting recipes, but several I cannot make because I am gluten intolerant. Though I can substitute gluten-free ingredients, it would take away from the nutritional value. Since it is important for vegan recipes to be balanced, it would be nice for the author to list acceptable substitutes. Overall, Easy Vegan has great basic recipes which are very inspiring.
Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Reader's Copy by NetGalley and the publisher. The decision to read and review this cookbook was entirely my own.
I wish the header font was different and generally the font was larger. It made for challenging reading in the ebook format.
I haven't utilized any of the recipes yet but they seem very straight forward and simple
Have you ever purchased a gorgeous recipe book, only to discover that many of the ingredients are difficult to source, or the recipes are too complicated and/or take far too much time for the average person? When all you want is an easy vegan recipe. I know I have.
Easy Vegan is a breath of fresh air, in that it's everything it says on the cover. Easy. From the absolute essentials of covering vegan ingredients, and how to veganise a recipe, to how to make the basic staples of vegan milk, butter, yoghurt, cream and mayonnaise.
After covering the basics, Sue Quinn gives us a selection of recipes, including French toast, pancakes, warm salads, vegan cheese, soups, roasted tofu, lasagne and a selection of gorgeous desserts.
This book is great for everyone - newly vegan, or an established home cook. Beautifully presented with mouth-watering photographs. Highly recommended.
A very useful guide to people looking to try out a vegan diet or people trying to understand how to feed people who follow a vegan diet. As a non-vegan I found the "how to veganise a recipe" info helpful. The recipes are varied and attractive with helpful photographs and step by step instructions. Whilst the protein content of 20 plant-based foods is given, there is scant reference to nutrition. It would have been helpful to have shown the nutritional content of each recipe. Thank you to Net Galley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
The title doesn’t lie! Also this would be the perfect book for starting a vegan diet because the author gives so much useful information and beginner basics.
Full to the brim with lots of tasty vegan recipes that I cannot wait to try. Everything looks really delicious and I can't wait to dig in.
Good basic cookbook for people new to plant based cooking. I appreciate that the recipes use real vegetables more than meat substitutes.
This is a great guide to creating vegan recipes. This takes staple or basic recipes but gives them a vegan twist for anyone with the dietary restriction. From salads to ice cream to cherry clafoutis, this provides delicious ways to prepare vegan meals and desserts.
Easy Vegan is the perfect beginner vegan cookbook. The book started out with some comprehensive information on being vegan and the different ways that you’ll need to adjust your protein and vitamin intake when changing your diet in such a drastic way. The beginning also included a short list of vegan celebrities, which I thought was a cool little addition. A great variety of recipes accompanied by beautiful photos!
There is a lot to like about Easy Vegan: 140 Delicious Recipes from Everyday to Gourmet. It's great for new vegans because it defines a vegan diet and gives advice on staples to stock your pantry as well as substitutions for animal-derived ingredients. Additionally, it includes recipes for making your own vegan butter, milk, stock, and more. The book incorporates nutrition information and charts that tell which vegan foods include key nutrients along with the protein content of many plant-based foods. Then there's the recipes. There are so many unique vegan recipes that I haven't seen anywhere else. I'll definitely be trying many of them!
Thanks to Quarto Publishing Group – Chartwell Books and NetGalley for a review copy of Easy Vegan.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Easy Vegan is a godsend for people looking for delicious vegan options that aren't boring but are possible to make!
So many recipes and the photos are stunning. Definitely some recipes I will be trying out! There is a variety of recipes for all meals, snacks, and desserts
I am grateful to Sue Quinn for writing this beautiful and informative Easy Vegan cookbook .I have used it for 3 weeks or so and so many times I have referred back to it in my food preparation and cooking .. The basic preparation are clearly and precisely written and referred back to when necessary . All the dishes I made are delicious and carefully laid out
It certainly encouraged me to continue with vegan cuisine and Easy Vegan became my go to meal planner . Just looking at the glorious pictures inspired me.
I did also find the vegan answers to questions of nutrition very persuasive .
Thank you Sue Quin for writing the Easy Vegan
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this recipe book! I’m the furthest thing from a chef, but I think even beginners could use this. The pictures of the meals are beautiful and I especially like the fonts used, making it easy to read. I also found the vegan nutrition chart and examples of protein enriched foods helpful, as that’s something I struggle with. I’ll definitely refer to this book when I want to make a delicious vegan meal from scratch!
I love vegan cookbooks and this one is gorgeous! Ricotta and avocado toast... yes please!! It's great when the recipes feel naturally vegan... like the meat / dairy isn't missing... the dish is complete using plant based ingredients... so happy!
Finally we have a vegan cookbook that puts good recipes before "this recipe exists but make it vegan".
Every single dish has value and it's not because it's a vegan version of something already popular (although there are a few alternatives to popular foods in vegan ways).
You don't really realise what can be considered not vegan, as animal products can show up in the strangest and most unexpected of places.
I love that this book celebrates the normalcy of vegan cooking and eating rather than the usual "holier than thou" that seems to be the backbone of other books.
