This is a pretty good book. Not particularly unique, but still a solidly enjoyable read. I definitely enjoyed it while I was reading it, but there wasn’t anything especially memorable. It will be a good recommendation for a plane flight, or a beach read. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Perfect popcorn thriller! You can totally read this one and see the movie playing in your head. Believable? Not really. Fun? YES! So fun! The characters all have a past that’s threatening to catch up with them. All why asking, how far will they go for 10 million dollars?
An interesting premise but hard to get into for me. A fun read but not something I'll continue to think about. 3 Stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book!
Admittedly I am a huge Heather Gudenkauf fan and this book did not disappoint. 5 seemingly random people show up at a California vineyard to compete in a Survivor type realty show where the winner gets TEN MILLION DOLLARS. What could go wrong? I didn’t find myself rooting for any of these characters as they were all fairly unlikable, based on their pasts. However the twists didn’t stop coming and even I found myself gasping at one point.
I enjoyed this book, not as much as some other HG books, but it was still very good. I’m not a huge reality show fan, which is why I think I liked her other books more.
I've been a huge fan of Heather's for years, WAY before Bookstagram was a thing. I was excited for this departure from her other books. But, after finishing it, I am not sure how to feel. I did like the plot twists, though. But I think I liked her books that left a heavy, emotional hangover. But maybe also this reminds me of Squid Games, and I wasn't a fan of that show. Normally I love unreliable narrortors, but for some reason I couldn't connect to any of them.
If you receive an email that sounds like it’s too good to be true, it very well may be. Especially if there is the potential promise of $10 million dollars. Dun dun dun. Unfortunately, for five unlucky souls, they chose to fly to a secluded location, where they put their lives at risk for the chance of winning the big bucks. I enjoyed this story. Sure, it was predictable, but I didn’t mind that. Even though the contestants had some redeeming qualities, they were terrible people and I didn’t mind seeing them squirm. The story is unique, fast paced and the next time I get an email that sounds too good to be true (since I get them all the time…), this book will be a reminder to think twice before replying.
So this one captured my attention from the start . I love the idea of a competition and the winner takes it all. There were a lot of different POVs of the contestants as well as the host and that was interesting seeing how everyone went about strategizing How to win.
This might just be THE popcorn thriller of the year for me, I could not put this book down!
This thriller follows a new high stakes live reality show with contestants competing for 10 million dollars. We follow 5 characters on their gruelling journey at a boujee villa as they endure twisted tasks to compete for the prize. Nothing is as it seems with our characters and as the book goes, we learn the secrets they’re desperate to hide, and the connections to eachother they will go to great lengths to conceal. I felt like one of the viewers myself as I was reading this and kept “one next chapter”-ing all night! Favourite read from this author yet!

Everyone is Watching by Heather Gudenkauf
Pub date: March 26, 2024
When you read the synopsis for Everyone is Watching it has the tagline The Best Friend. The Confidant. The Senator. The Boyfriend. The Executive. These titles seem self-explanatory but there’s more depth to them than meets the eye!
Five contestants have been chosen to compete for ten million dollars and all they have to do is stay at a lush estate in beautiful California, have absolutely no contact with the outside world and participate in some challenges. Sounds too good to be true, right?
Each person has their own set of issues and secrets that slowly unfold as we get to know them and they’re doozies. The competition itself is full of insanely dangerous challenges that turns them against one another and are designed to break them down, if not out and out kill them. But who’d do that live streaming? So, yeah, this is a high-octane action-packed story that shines a very bright light on consumerism and the ever-increasing demand for reality TV/social media/Live streaming. Someone’s pulling the strings, but who?
Completely bingeworthy and I raced to the finish! Big surprise ending and I loved it!
My thanks to @HTPBooks for this gifted DRC!
I loved this book! What would you do for 10 million dollars? A group of people are offered the chance to compete in a reality show for a chance to win it all. First of all I am a sucker for some reality tv. This book is fast paced and clever. I couldn’t put it down. I wanted to know who would win. I wanted to know all the secrets and most importantly what ties all these people together!
Thank you to netgalley for the chance to read this awesome book!

Thank you to Net Galley, Harlequn Trade Publishing/Park Row and the author, Heather Gudenkauf for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I loved Heather Gudenkauf’s The Overnight Guest, so I was excited to read this one.
It begins with five contestants that have been chosen to compete for 10 million dollars. They are nicknamed: the best friend, the confident, the senator, the boyfriend, and the ex executive.
Once the competitions start, the competitors soon realize that the competitions are dangerous. They are not allowed to have any contact for the outside world. It takes place on a secluded estate in California. Little by little secrets are revealed. Everyone seems to have something to hide. It is Big Brother meets Survivor meets Squid Games.
I found the ending a little too convenient the way everything was tied together. There was a lot going on with the current competitions and flashbacks of the past. Coupled with a lot of characters, I was not thoroughly invested in the story.

This is my second book by Gudenkauf and once again, she did not disappoint. A fast paced thriller centered around a reality show with *dangerous* stakes involved? Sign me up! This book didn’t have any dull moments & I can say that I couldn’t wait to find out what happened. I didn’t love the ending but still loved the rest of the book. Grab this one when it’s released!

Everyone is Watching was an interesting, quick read for me. It started out with a bang and mostly kept its speed until the end.
The story follows POV from characters behind the show, contestants, and a few others here and there. The timeline does go back and forth as well as show the view points of random people watching the show from their homes.
The concept was really interesting but I do think it was drawn out a little too much. The ending was thrown together more quickly and took very little story time. I wish there would’ve been more to the ending and less throughout the middle. I did absolutely love the ending!
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing/Park Row for the opportunity to enjoy this ARC before it’s intended release date of March 26, 2024.
Five people sign on for a new reality show, hoping to win the super-sized final prize: ten million dollars. They knew it wouldn't be easy to win but they all have reasons to want and need the money so they're all in. As the "challenges" become more difficult and then deadly they all start to wonder what is actually going on. An interesting commentary on our world these days as people would rather watch people in peril than stop watching.
This was a quick read. It was not my favorite, however, as a quick read I enjoyed it. It was a bit unrealistic, but the end was surprising and I did not expect the twist.
I love a good twisty thriller and Heather did not disappoint and delivered full force. This book is so fast paced, keeps you hanging on the edge of your seat with multiple POV, past and present format and lots of secrets you unveil through the book.
WOWWOW… is all I could say through this entire book from the first to very last page. We take 5 complete strangers who etc receive an email stating that if they are willing to appear on a reality tv show that is live-streamed and complete many challenges, they have the opportunity to win a 10 million dollar prize—but the question that remains in your head is is this really all that is going on or is there more ‘behind the scenes’…
I loved the characters and their dynamics through this book as well as the setting/storyline. This was all so well written. The games and challenges through this book the characters endure are wild and will have you gasping and palms sweating. There is a wonderful dark sinister twist to all parts of this story. Hands down a favorite book on my list. This needs to go on your TBR…you win not regret it. 10/10 recommend this book!!!
“Everyone Is Watching” is an extremely original thriller with a very entertaining storyline, and I finished the book in a day. This story is part Squid Game, part Clue, part Survivor and Big Brother. I really enjoyed the chapters highlighting the backstory of each of the contestants and seeing how this led to them being selected for the show. The book also included social media comments from viewers of the show, which were fun to read. I kept guessing as to the motive the entire time, and only managed to piece a few things together. The ending was quite a surprise, and I'd recommend this one to anyone who enjoys a good thriller. Thanks to Heather Gudenkauf, Netgalley, Harlequin Trade and Park Row for an e-arc in exchange for my thoughts.
Everyone is Watching follows participants on a reality tv competition and the show creator's assistant, Fern. Some of these participants have a dark past, but for 10 million dollars, they're willing to do anything. When strange things start happening, the viewers and contestants alike can't figure out what's real and what's not.
This is a potentially interesting story, but it's executed pretty poorly. The characters are all one-dimensional, and it just doesn't make much sense. By the end, I just wanted to finish it-- I didn't even care what happened.
Five contestants enter a reality show game in order to win $10 million. What they don’t realize is that things aren’t what they seem and their lives are in grave danger. This wasn’t my favorite book by Gudenkauf but it was unique and entertaining. There were lots of layers and details of this story which emerged throughout the book and kept me hooked. For fans of Megan Miranda and Mary Kubica.
With larger than life characters, a reality show with a prize of 10 million dollars seems to be unbelievable, but as the five contestants come together at an Italian mansion somewhere in California, things start to unravel, and secrets, long kept, are being unfurled.
I have read several of Heather Gudenkauf’s books before and knew this was coming in March 2024. Thank you Net Galley and HTP/ Park Row Books for letting me read this wonderful, scary, at times vicious mystery, which I am thrilled to say, I never saw the end coming!
