"Everyone is Watching" was a thrilling and engaging read. It's original storyline centered on a reality show going awry, intertwined with characters concealing secrets, was a suspenseful and compelling narrative. The allure of an intense unraveling of hidden truths amidst the chaos of a malfunctioning reality show made for a gripping plot. It is great for fans of intense dramas, psychological thrillers, and intricate character-driven stories. It was a page-turner that left me wanting more.

In this gripping tale of intense competition, the collision of Squid Game's dramatic flair and Survivor's strategic challenges sets the stage for a narrative that thrives on the unexpected. The main plot revolves around five contestants, each harboring a $10 million prize and a web of hidden secrets, as they grapple with outrageous and unconventional trials. The book, reminiscent of a riveting locked-room mystery or a pressure-building thriller, ensures readers remain firmly on the edge of their seats, eagerly turning pages with undivided attention.

The narrative unfolds through the eyes of the least likable characters, adding layers of complexity to the story. Camille Tamerlane, a popular 38-year-old podcast host with potential skeletons in her closet; Maire Hennessy, a 40-year-old artist grappling with a traumatic secret; and Fernanda Espa, an assistant desperate for recognition from her demanding boss, collectively provide diverse perspectives on the unfolding drama.

As the plot escalates, five contestants are brought together at a luxurious estate in Northern California, chosen for reasons unknown. They embark on a series of challenges that test not only their physical prowess but also their mental and emotional resilience. Among the contestants are Camilla, Maire, Samuel Rafferty: "The Boyfiend" (Ghost from Maire's past and witness to a life-changing event), Senator Richard Crowley, and the unexpected addition of Ned Bennett, an executive connected to Fern's mysterious past.

The competition kicks off, but strange occurrences intensify—teasers with higher-than-expected voltage, escalating stakes, and an unsettling feeling that this might be more than just a game. It becomes evident that someone seeks revenge, and the stakes are nothing short of life and death.

While the narrative offers a fast-paced reading experience with some predictable twists, it delves into a nuanced critique of social media voyeurism and the extremes people will go to for greed, fame, or sheer curiosity. Though not reaching the heights of enjoyment found in Heather Gudenkauf's previous works, the book remains action-packed and intriguing, maintaining its hold on the reader's attention until the very end. Despite minor shortcomings, I find myself rounding up my rating to a solid 4 popcorn stars from the initial 3.5, acknowledging the book's excitement as a thriller.

A heartfelt thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing/Park Row for generously sharing this digital review copy in exchange for my honest opinions.

In this enthralling thriller, the author's masterful storytelling and clever plot twists create an immersive experience for readers, ensuring that "Everyone is Watching" will leave them breathless until the very last page. I LOVE everything written by this author.

This was the first book I have read by this author, and I was not disappointed! Delightfully twisted and twisty, it was hard to look away from at times. I feel like everyone ended up getting their just desserts, and that the people who had really only made a mistake (or ten) were able to escape the worst of it all relatively unscathed, which was satisfying. I really enjoyed this book, and will be recommending it. Upon its release, I'm actually going to choose it as my employee recommendation of the month. Can't wait to see what the author writes in the future!

Read this in one evening. I found it very entertaining though also quite predictable. I am the biggest fan of “the overnight guest” and had very high hopes for this book… though it was not as incredible as that book, still thought it was fun. 3.75 stars

Heather Gudenkauf never disappoints. Everyone Is Watching is different than her previous novels in subject matter, but just as gripping and fascinating. I really enjoyed stepping into this world as a reader, but I would never want to live in it! The reality show One Lucky Winner (part Squid Game, part Big Brother) holds an opportunity for one of the contestants to walk away with 10 million dollars...but at what cost? I found the alternating perspectives intriguing as you were constantly living in a different character's mind and that helped you to understand their thought process. I highly recommend reading this title, as well as all of Gudenkauf's previous novels. She is an author I will always look forward to reading.

What an interesting premise for a thriller. This was a solid mystery. While I guessed some of the twists, the end left me floored! I enjoyed the multiple POVs and the timeline shifting. Sometimes that can make the book confusing but Gudenkauf pulld it off.

This book is unlike anything I've read before and is quite different from Gudenkauf"s other novels. I am always thrilled when she comes out with a new novel. This story is part squid game part clue and big brother. Contestants gather to compete for 10 million dollars . What will they not do to win the money. With secrets being exposed and brutal challenges this book had me hooked from first page to last

So, this was a pretty good book, it had a rather original premise - more so than a lot of books.
Five people are handpicked to compete in a reality show for a mindboggling 10 million dollars... so how much are they will to do and to put up with in order to win that kind of money? They all come with baggage, and serious secrets. It seems that whoever is behind this reality show knows these dark secrets the contestants hold, and it sure seems they want to expose them. But who? Why?
As the reader, we know who is behind it, but we don't know the why just yet.
As the game progresses, we learn more about the secrets in these peoples past, eventually learning the why behind the elaborate revenge plot.
Not a showstopper of a book, but a well put-together fun read.

’ve been obsessed with everything Heather Gudenkauf writes since her debut over a decade ago so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Everyone Is Watching - this doesn’t release until March but I just couldn't wait. Part squid game, part "secrets never stay buried" this was a fun thrill that kept me hooked start to finish!

3.5 Stars

Thank you to Harlequin for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

Everyone is Watching was a page turner about a group of people invited to participate in a reality show with the grand prize being ten million dollars. The group begins to realize that there is something dark happening, and the competitions become dangerous and potentially deadly. It is not by chance that these specific men and women ended up together in this game. There were some twists and turns and I was anxious to see how the novel ended. I would recommend this latest by Heather Gudenkauf if you like suspenseful reads! Thank you to NetGalley and Park Row for the ARC!!

Five contestants are chosen to compete for $10 million dollars on a livestreamed gameshow called One Lucky Winner. But they realize pretty quickly that this is no ordinary game show. They are being filmed all the time. Someone almost drowns. A gun goes off. Their pasts are dredged up for all to know. What is really going on? Will anyone win? Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

I loved this book!!! Heather Gudenkauf has been an auto-buy author for me since her debut novel, but this one may be my favorite yet. It was a fast-paced novel that gave me enough backstory at the right time, but didn't delve into too much and slow the story down. I really liked the concept of this book and locked door mysteries tend to be a hit with me. I really enjoyed this one and had a hard time putting it down.

The story is about five strangers who come together for two weeks to compete in a series of challenges. The winner of the competition will receive $10 million dollars. Although the characters were well-developed and descriptive, the beginning of the book was a bit slow and it took a while for the "game" to begin. However, I am glad that I stuck it out because the plot became twisty and unpredictable once the reality show started.

While some of the male characters were cliché, I was invested enough in the story to keep reading. The best part of the book was the ending, which I absolutely loved! Recommended for fans suspense, reality shows, and revenge.

Thank you to Heather Gudenkauf, NetGalley, and Harlequin Trade Publishing for an advanced eBook in exchange for my honest review.

"One Lucky Winner" will get $10 million if they win the new reality show. There are only five contestants: Ned, Maire, Camille, Samuel, and Senator Crowley. How far will they go to get that kind of money?
They are isolated on a huge estate and no contact with their families, which is especially difficult for Maire, whose child has cystic fibrosis. We get flashbacks from Maire, Camille, and Fern (the host/assistant of the show) and soon find out secrets may be revealed.
Everyone is Watching is okay, particularly if you like reality TV shows. I didn't feel there was much character development, nor did I find it very twisty. None of the characters (except Maire) are particularly likeable.

Title: Everyone is Watching
Series: Horror Hotel
Author: Heather Gudenkauf
Publisher: Harlequin Trade Publishing – Park Row
Genre: Mystery Thriller
Pub Date: March 26, 2024
My Rating: 3.3 Stars
Pages: 320
This is my seventh author, Heather Gudenkauf novel.. The other five were GREAT ~ I am a fan! I was so delight when I got this early release even though I really had no idea what it was about only that I love this author.
The Prologue got my attention~
Matthew is livestreaming the reality show “One Lucky Winner”. His coworkers have been talking about it. There are five contestants who are competing for $10,000,000 Yes! Ten Million Dollars. He is viewing four constants sitting at a table and the fifth a woman is standing and asks: -Speak or Shoot? The choice is yours. -
A man seated states. Shoot. He calmly stands and points the gun to his temple.

Several years ago I was a fan of reality shows and enjoyed following them and yes had the chat in the teacher’s lounge the next day.
However got to the point of not be entertaining and worried that the need and want of money is out of control.

To me this was 3 star =good as I didn’t love the story. I know many others will love it as well as enjoy it.

I do love this author and will read her next story but this story is my least favorite of the seven I read. .
The other six were 4 Star = Great even 5 Star+ Excellent!

Want to thank NetGalley and Harlequin Trase Publishing/Park Row for this early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for March 26, 2024

A fun and fast thriller that kept me reading. Maire's life went off track after a tragic night in her college years, and now, as a single mom with a sick kid desperate for financial stability, she decides to take the offer to appear on an impossibly generous new reality show alongside four other contestants. But is this mysterious show with the improbably large prize too good to be true? Of course it is!

I enjoyed reading this book, despite some clear plot holes and the general campiness of how bad the bad guys were and good the good guys were.

5 contestants battle against each other for the prize of 10 million dollars. I really enjoyed the aspect of the book, and how everything came together in the end. This is the second book by this author that I've really enjoyed. Can’t wait to read more from them. 4 stars because I found the first part of this book to be a little slow, at about the half way mark I was hooked.
